I can assure you that Mr man you lack the understanding of the Northern issue. So what your type do out of desperation is create the imaginary picture and resort to instigation. If i may ask what is the status quo you talk about ? is it that the governors of Kano state is Fulani,Benue is fulani, plateau is Fulani,Gombe is Fulani,Borno is fulani,Adamawa is fulani,Taraba is fulani,Sokoto is fulani, kogi is fulani, nasarawa is fulani or Niger state?Grow up you misguided people. From the list above you can see the blend of Hausa,Berom,Tiv,Fulani,Kanuri,Igala etc. So how do the Fulanis control the political sphere again as explained by you?Since Monarchs can be deposed or manipulated by state governors. You should be ashamed of yourself. |

torkaka: ^^^^^the fulanis in nigeria are not as much as igbo and yoruba but they are not "minorities" in nigeria, theres actually a difference between herdsmen fulani and the slightly civilised ones (i've forgotten the different names they are called). the whole fulani myth arose from the fact that ahmadu bello was fulani and most of the emirs have fulani bloodline). since the sarduanna era we have the likes of maitama sule, aminu kano, abubakar rimi etc all hausa! which fulani names outside ahmadu bello over shadow the mentioned in the core northern political arena? economically the dantatas, the dangotes, the mai deribes etc are not fulani, infact remove ismaila funtua and atiku abubakar, you will hardly get a big time fulani player in the economy. like some one mentioned earlier, the ability of northern muslim politicians to manipulate religion in order to achieve their goals is what or may i say "is the elite" that is running nigeria and not any fairy tale fulani elites torkaka: ^^^^tafawa balewa was sayewa(a very minority tribe) from bauchi state. he's tribe is 80% christian and 20% muslim. he happened to be amongst the 20% muslim. saying balewa is hausa bacause he is from bauchi is like calling a tangale man hausa bacause he is from gombe. NO HAUSA MAN WILL (AND HAS EVER) REFERRED TO BALEWA AS HAUSA.^^^^^ Thank you brother! It is even hard to believe the extreme ignorance and desperate ploy to claim all knowing by some southerners. The list and tribe allocation is misguiding and full of mistakes just to support and erroneous view! |
Dude, I did not only stayed in the north, I spoke Hausa language to the boot and even got a credit at GCE level. Surely, you should know Hausa is among the most difficult language to pass at GCE level?. So, I know exactly how things work down there. That said. The Tivs from benue are known to have a playerful relationship with the fulanis. . .but, how does that save them from the dagger of fulani nomads at regurly interval without any provocations? There should be clear cut and proper demarcation between fulani/hausa/berom/angas/tivi/mummuyes/gwari/kanuris/gerawa/jarawa/tangale/waja/seyawa. . .since, it amount to injustice for a berom man to hacked in revenge of a crime committed by kanuri, because they share thesame geographical locations.
The same way the Tivs embark on a war with the jukuns, along the way they start killing Fulanis from Taraba. All you have said rather makes you ignorant. It's known fact that the Tivs are expansionist and have little regards for minorities around them. I can tell you the fulanis are of two social lifes. The urban/civilized as people will say in hausa and the rural Nomads. The Urban fulanis are not minority i can tell you and highly influential/literate contrary to your assumptions(As sometimes they are also mistaken for the fulanis). The Nomads are the more readily aggressive ones and even the urban see them at times as crude. They have a norm and rule that is guided by the Miyetti Allah that by and large applies largely to the nomads. How to settle issues arising from livestock disputes amongst them and to provide a voice if they are having issues to there livestock trade. The same Myetti Allah ensures that compensations are made in cases of injustice. In the North its widely known that if any issue with nomads occur they Myetti Allah are called and they know how to trace distinguish guilty parties.Have you also read about the Tivs battle in Nassarwa state?I bet you are blind to that. They invade the communities same way you blame the fulanis and destroyed communities and even killed a traditional ruler and killed both women and children.Mr Man you can't ever be more Northern or Hausa understanding than me.Keep your credit, apart from me passing same GCE with a credit am natural. So get over it.there are alot you still need to learn about the north psychic that alot of Southerners miss.Even after staying along time in the North, you are not indigenous. In the North minorities exist without doubt and Christians exist,If provoked the nomadic Fulani can be aggressive and clashes with farmers happen but hardly mean anything senister.Suggesting some ill gotten motives to cause severe rifts and dispute is totally ridiculous. The nomads before now and always do have grazing issues with farmers.Ways exist to tackle this issues without fry nerves. It's people like you that bring the deadly dimension to it with your extreme views to hate a certain people. Historically the aggressiveness/warrior like statue of the fulanis came about due to centuries of hostility to the nomad clans as they move or transcend different domains. We also know that partly the Northern Jihad by the Fulanis were partly to enshrine Islam as much as to avoid the issue of heavy levies and incessant attacks on them as they go about there nomadic lifestyle. That said the typical Fulani nomad hardly bothers about politics outside his nomadic life and hardly claim land. They simply move graze and move. They could be in Nigeria today and Togo Next.SO try asking a Fulani Nomad who is president and what he expect of leadership? He is empty about that. That is why despite there population stretching the entire west Africa they have rarely any control of a nation or state. In Nigeria they only have a foot hold in Adamawa.Else they are almost insignificant. The Fulanis as are the Hausa have fused together that you can't separate them. Some Hausas are actually Fulanis and some Fulanis are actually Hausas.Years of inter-marriage and mingling.Inshort an urbanized fulani is called Hausa. If you must know too that Islam was in Nigeria even before the Jihad and the Fulanis are not the only means to which Islam came to Northern Nigeria.Trade with North Africans and the trans-sahara trade brought Islamic Knowledge/civilization.When Uthman dan fadio fought,he made it clear it was to make a re-awakening amongst Corrupt Muslims who have corrupted the faith. Its was after the cleansing that the expansionist view came.Taking Muslims of all tribe as a whole not just Fulanis to the various other pagan frontiers. In Northern Nigeria, the North Africans have influenced and also invaded the North historically even without the fulanis. The Fulanis finally unified the feuding Hausa peoples from Gobir to zazzau.Into a caliphate |

shymmex: I assume you're fulani then.got me there i was almost getting away with it!!!! you are so smart. |
@POST Spot on!! I'd really enjoy reading your topic, As I often pity those still lumping together the north. Take this simple example, many people down south are quick to insult the hausas when there is attack by fulani nomads or boko haram and all that. The bottom line is, the hausas have suffered more attacks from the fulani namads than any ethnic group in nigeria, I recollect while growing up, how there was a yearly fracas between fulani nomads and farmers claiming hundreds of lives. The fulanis are very aggressive and could easily be discribed as one of the most backward tribe in the country. Now, the boko haram menace is another angle in which the hausas were made the scape goats while forgetting that they have suffered more loses than any ethnic group. It is very common to hear people cursing hausas, whenever there is boko haram attacks, when some of us knows that boko haram is brain child of kanuris and there failed political ambitionist. Funny, the kanuris never regard the hausas as brothers while the fulanis always tag them as "kaadu" which means inferior person. Keep it up!
I see you stayed in the North,is it also true that the same Hausa largely have jokes that mock the Fulanis as being daft.Over 70% of Hausa jokes present the fulanis as the equivalent of the blonds in western jokes. How has that being taken over the years?I never saw a fulani assume it an insult.Other tribes have similar jokes up North.I know you hardly know about that. Some have being a way of mocking a people after earlier contacts in history and today because of harmony make jokes of them.Just like the Tivs,Jukun and fulani feud. |
shymmex: Are you hausa or fulani? It seems fulani and kanuri people are giving hausas a bad name - and what's ironic about this is that everyone blames the hausas for everything bad in northern Nigeria.^^^Like your types who give Nigeria a bad name internationally as fraudsters and we can't enjoy ease in any financial transaction due to your type. |

Obasanjo knew of Third Term plot –ex-minister By Yusuf Alli, Managing Editor, Northern Operation 10 hours 23 minutes ago Font size: Obasanjo • Says ex- President was not the initiator Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was neck deep in the ploy to get a third term in office, contrary to his latest posturing, one of his influential ex-ministers said yesterday. The ex-president had said on Channels Television on Friday that he never “toyed with the idea of a third term” and that it was some members of the National Assembly that initiated the move to amend the constitution with a view to accommodating the plan. He restated his boast that had he wanted a third term he would have “gone about it the way I should have gone about it and I would have got it.” However, the ex-minister who does not want his name mentioned said the retired army general was in the thick of the plot. And he was quick to add that in fairness, Obasanjo did not initiate it. He also admitted that the agenda was funded with government resources and personal contributions from some highly-placed individuals. “Definitely, the ex-President(who was my boss during the debate) cannot say he did not know what was going on,” he said. “Baba said something that is partially true, he never initiated it. Although he did not initiate it, Obasanjo cannot pretend that he was not in the picture of the plot. “So, I can tell you that Obasanjo wanted the third term tenure in a subtle way but the project failed. He was convinced by those behind the tenure elongation that it will work. “Obasanjo is now denying the Third Term agenda because he did not confide in his inner circle or intellectuals in his administration. Technocrats, like the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, ex-Vice-President of the World Bank, Oby Ezekwesili, ex-EFCC chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, ex-FCT Minister, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, ex-Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, ex-Minister Frank Nweke and Ojo Maduekwe, were kept in the dark about the third term agenda. “The agenda was funded with government money and cash from some businessmen from the private sector. The ex-President should be made to explain the sources of these funds. One of his foremost Special Advisers was giving out money for the project. Each Senator and member of the House of Representatives got N50m per head. “Some even got as much as N100m instead of N50m. Nigerians should ask where the money came from.” The ex-Minister gave an insight into how the agenda was conceived. He said: “Three groups were behind it. They were the business group; Senators led by a former Deputy President of the Senate, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu; loyalist governors including the late President Umaru Yar’ Adua, James Ibori, Saminu Turaki and others. “But a former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, the then President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani, anti-third term Senators and the media frustrated the agenda.” The ex-Minister referred to a book written by ex-US Secretary of State, Ms Condoleezza Rice, on the involvement of Obasanjo in the third term agenda. In her book, ‘No Higher Honour: A Memoir of My Years in Washington,’ Rice alleged that Obasanjo actually approached ex-President George Bush for his backing to alter Nigeria’s constitution for a Third Term slot in office. Her words “In 2006, when President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria sidled up to the President(Bush) and suggested that he might change the constitution so that he could serve a third term, the President told him not to do it. ‘You have served your country well. Now turn over power and become a statesman,’ he said. “After a public rebuke from United States and condemnation by the international community, the Nigerian Senate rejected the constitution amendment proposal that could have allowed Obasanjo a third term. “The crest fallen Obasanjo was initially angry accusing Jendayi Fraser of undermining him in the press and with his own people. “I will never deal with her again,” he told the President. “The President (Bush) responded, “Well, she is a person. But the main thing is that your country needs you to do the right thing.” |
Good Friday tragedy: Church pillar collapses, kills 8 On April 8, 2012 · In News 8:30 am 0 By Demola Akinyemi, ILORIN It was Easter tragedy. Christians and sympathisers were thrown into mourning in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, as no fewer than eight people, among them two children, were feared dead in a retreat organised by a high profile church. The incident was said to have occurred at the church’s Camp site located at Eyenkorin on the outskirts of the state capital in the early hours of Good Friday. Further checks showed that the incident was as a result of rainstorm which caused a pillar at the camp to collapse and fell on the worshippers. In another tragedy, a pastor with the church, who had gone to donate blood for the victims, was also killed. The pastor, who was riding n a motorcycle, was said to have run into an oncoming vehicle. He died on the way to the hospital. Storm had accompanied the rainfall in Ilorin. The rain, which lasted for about two hours, began at about 12.30 a.m. Contacted, the state police command spokesman, Dabo Ezekiel, only confirmed the death of the pastor and claimed that several others only suffered injuries. Sources at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital confirmed that three of the victims were brought in dead (BID) along with one woman and two children. According to the source, “three of the victims were brought in dead apart from the two children and a woman who were in critical conditions.” Two others died while receiving treatment, one of them inside the theatre, added the source . Also,a family source to one of the victims claimed, in a telephone chat, said the casualty figure rose to seven, yesterday afternoon, taking the death toll to five adults and two children. The source lamented the fate of the pastor who had rallied round to help the injured. Meanwhile, no pastor from the church was available to comment at the time of filing this report as journalists were referred to one Wing Commander Cindar(rtd), said to be the Chief Security Officer of the Camp. Confirmed the incident but denied that any life was lost. He claimed that the victims were recuperating at the hospital. |
Now unlike you ndu_chuks, I will answer your question with a straight answer - no bull no trivial solutions (mr trivial solution I bet your laughing your butt off) Lol. Disintegration is not the only cure for Nigeria but its another antibiotic turked away in the shelves should the first shot fail. So much has happened in Nigeria for me to say the only thing that'll satisfy me is immediate disintegration. As a human, I want to have plan A and B, my plan A is to make where I'am work but if its not working I should be able to use my plan B. These are conditions under which I will be comfortable drapping Nigerian flag (plan A) 1. Create equal number of states or go back to regional govt. (pointless with decentralization, resource control and regional government) 2. Conduct credible census with ethnicity in the data. Ok! 3. Every state should be allowed to keep and manage its resources, that is if we dont go back to regional govt. ok! 4. Only 50 % of resources found in a location or region or state should be given to FG. ok! 5. Let states or regions control all their stuff from education to police, FG police will only get involve in matters that are more complicated (e.g if mr A from State B or region B is denied justice because of his ethnicity or faith) - okay!!! 6. Abolish current presidential system and replace it with parliamentary system and let every state or region produce First minister. From the pool of these first ministers we can choose who will be prime minister (This #6 can be modified). (not bad) 7. No more bogus numbers of house of assembly, any region or state that can not stand economically must lose their house of assembly members and must be required to merge with any region or state that accepts them. (resource control should solve this) 8. Every state or region must make their laws and their laws must be consistent with One Nigerian ideals, it must never be discriminatory. (Don't you think that contradicts itself, making there own laws but compliant with National laws.make your own laws but according to a Nigerian ideal. Then why bother?lets simply just allow a central law) 9. FG will only handle two things - Defense and currency. ok! 10. FG must never use our common wealth for religious purposes, be it pilgrimage to Mecca or shango or Okija, enough of that. ok! 11. Seal the border with Niger republic and Chad, whoever must cross must do so after being properly checked. (Why would it only be Niger and chad?Even where crime is exported through Benin,ND open waters and so many other frontiers.Take it or leave it,niger and chad have other dealings in trade transcending centuries and you have no right to seal borders and limit other trades because of cross-border crimes.I am for strict border monitoring.totally so that you buddies in the south east and ND who trade in arms are also curtailed.I can bet you that from revelations of the amnesty,Dokubo and Henry Okah. There is alot happening in the ND open waters that treaten the nation as a whole. ) I probably have other things to add to that list. Anyway, if we can have that either through national assembly or SNC then I'm in. If we cant get at least 70% of whats on that list then whats the point wasting time building and building when I know its going to be another 50 yrs 2.0. ^^^^The thing is can you get your Igbo fellows of the house of assembly to initiate that?I am saying this, because i doubt other political elites of the different zones will politically agree to this.Especially through the PDP fraternity!!!Sam Ikenna i am happy chatting with you.You are the best SE NLer that has made me appreciate the SE position on issues beyond my own understanding.I have also made some notes on the issues above.
|
Nwanne, no body is on revenge mission. Igbo is neither a vindictive nation nor a war mongering nation. Always, what we seek for is better life. How Igbo became this devil hiding in the dark is beyond me. Have you asked yourself if its plausible that a man can come to Kano and build a mansion with his family in it only to be planning to burn Kano down? How can we be this vindictive knowing we have more properties in other people's lands than , , and ending this oil-based economy is my policy |
Onlytruth: I'm not boasting, but I believe that the most nationalistic Nigerians are Igbo. We have paid our dues in Nigeria, and continue to garner many international laurels for Nigeria. All educated Nigerians know this fact, except that they like to accuse us of ethnocentrism (meanwhile they are the ones with ethnocentric issues) just to find a reason not to support us.I doubt internationally/nationally that is true. The Igbos outside Nigeria are fed lies from home and they too have started to make it look like its an all out war back home. That has extended the frontiers at the international level. They even beat the drums of war more and separation under the victim idea card!I know alot of people of northern outside the country that have severally noted the treatment and resentment the SE and ND people show them outside the country.Hows they openly accuse them and even tell them not to ever think of rendering there expertise in any section of there region down south. So where are we going with this. They will tell them things like its FG resources this people are sponsored with.A friend even told me where in UK,An Igbo Nigeria made bad remarks about him while seeking employment in a company this same Nigerian Igbo was to vet.He told the White that he is from the north. She didn't know exactly what that had to do with the job he is to do.So she simply said well your fellow countryman just said that. The same lady said his resume was the best she had gone through in all the applicants. He insist the Igbo clarifiy the issue?I am saying this because i use to think Nigerians outside the country are more patriotic and united, but i think it's not so.The tales am getting is different. Try google and read post on Nigerian issues from different fora and you could see the Igbo non nationalistic position all over.If anything the Igbos are not better than anyone Nigeria.I also think you are boasting and boosting issues here.No offence meant. Your facts about Soludo,Rochas,Ken Nnamani and Dora are in place. They are persons i for one am okay with. The issue too is not about North or East is about Nigeria as a whole. |
NSCIA felicitates with Christians | Print | E-mail Written by Olayinka Olukoya, Abeokuta Friday, 06 April 2012 Share The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has urged both Christians and Muslims in the country to collaborate with each other in tackling the menace of corruption. This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary-General NSCIA, Dr Lateef Adegbite, made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, on Thursday, and appealed to Christians and Muslims to seize the occasion of the Easter season to reflect on the situation of the country and also cultivate the values and virtues extolled by their religions. He advised the adherents of the two religions to join forces with the nation’s leadership to tackle the issue of corruption. “Let us seize the occasion of this season to reflect on the situation of our country and resolve to effect changes that would ensure real development and meaningful progress in the land. “To this end, we should join forces with the authorities in tackling the twin evils of corruption and insecurity that are threatening to consume the nation,” the statement added. NSCIA said Nigeria would be a great nation if the society was free from corruption, submitting that such would bring about real and meaningful development to the land. It enjoined Nigerians to be security conscious by reporting any suspicious movement of people to relevant security agencies. The statement said further that “development cannot be achieved in a state of insecurity. We should, therefore, cooperate with authorities to secure the nation. “We should mobilise all faithful to be security-conscious, reporting every suspicious movement to the nearest security outfit.” |
