On Friday i shared my story on how I was scammed here on NL But that's just like the 0.1% out of the 100% of good news and beautiful testimonies you can have just by being active on NL. So don't let that meagre percent rub you off of the remaining 99.9%(which is still like 100% to me) of goodness here on NL. I have gotten interview opportunities, gotten an award, job, gigs and so many other offers just by being active here on NL that I have even forgotten that ugly incident. It just occurred to me on that Friday to share that important information to my family members just to be careful when dealing with new faces and people. So grab everything that you need and that you deserve right here on NL,it will also work for you like it has worked for me and it will keep working for me and you. Can I get an Amen It's a new week fam, let's put in our best to achieve greater exploits Have an amazing Monday Fam |

Most Nigerian lecturers have other business aside their regular lecturing jobs for instance, those in the medical field have their lab or hospital or pharmacy. Others in management sciences have either hotels, or a grocery store run by their wife or relative Some of the Agricultural lecturers are are into farming, pig, fish etc A few in the computer science field of course you know were they are. In Uganda, you cannot try having another job aside your lecturing job, it's called conflict of interest. If you do, you are sacked IMMEDIATELY! However, they are properly remunerated. A house once you retire it becomes yours (after you finish paying) Two cars ( one official the other unofficial) Pension Health care 2 of your kids will school outside Uganda Vacation Sabbatical abroad. Those who will suffer this are the Graduate lecturer Lecturer 1&2 |

akosh005:The news of the Naira crashing reminds me of the day the Nigerian government unpegged the currency to USD while I was living in Lagos. Overnight the value of the Naira against USD went from 200 to 1 to 310 to 1. The street exchange rate (which is sometimes more accessible and reliable than the ATMs) spiked to over 500 to 1. Literally overnight my purchasing power doubled. Coffees, cab rides, and groceries cost half as much as they did the day before because I was spending from a US checking account. Completely changed my perception of money. Of course, the opposite happened for Nigerians paying in Naira. Software subscriptions, glass bottles, and energy prices spiked. To make things worse, banks locked down Nigerian accounts so people overseas couldn't withdraw more than a few hundred dollars at a time. Some international businesses see this as a strategic advantage. The cost of labor halved. I'm grateful to all the companies out there that peg Nigerian's salaries to USD and other reserve currencies. My thoughts are with the people whose hard earned wealth is undermined by the whims of the global economy. My thoughts are with Nigerians. |

Your terrible job is the dream of every unemployed. Your house is the dream of every homeless. Your smile is the dream of every depressed. Your health is the dream of every ill. Don't let difficult times make you forget your blessings. Agree? |
Ajibola has stolen meat from the pot… again I swear it is not just a clickbait headline. You will see the reason below. Studies show that as a business owner, there is a 100% chance that your employees will steal from you. It may not be deliberate or done with nefarious intent, but they will steal! It is better known by its official name: Fraud. These three need to be present: 1. Opportunity 2. Pressure (or Incentive) 3. Justification (or Rationalization). They are all important but if your business operations create the opportunity for fraud…Let’s just say it is similar to my mum expecting me not to steal meat from the pot when she did not make any effort to prevent me from doing so (That is the link!). No matter the pressure, incentive, justification or rationalization of one's actions, if there is no opportunity, nothing happens. The only way to combat Fraud in a business is through an effective Internal Control System (ICS)…even at that, it is still a battle. Small businesses typically cannot afford to hire full ICS teams/specialists. In reality, most Small Business Owners are a “one-man wrecking crew” when it comes to Internal controls in their businesses, but they are paying for it with their health… sanity…or both. This is because it is a lot to handle, and they have to be vigilant at all times to catch thieves. That can be quite exhausting. So, what is needed is an effective system to prevent, deter, and possibly catch folks who want to mess with your hard-earned resources. Deny them the opportunity. Read more in the comments. |
