stagger: I support the mass arrests. That Omokiri community is a small one where everybody knows everybody. They should all be arrested and tortured until they produce the suspects.

Ikwerre meka!
I only agree with you to the extent that they should be arrested, however, since they did not just torture those guys, they should be killed immediately. I believe in the law of Moses, tit for tat.

Vengeance is NEVER a good response to a problem such as this. Hope the Security Detail there can keep everything under control.

Those students should strategize and take out members of the community one at a time until they double or triple the figures of the deceased students, nothing else will do. My services are available if they so need it. What arrant nonsense. As for OP, I don't waste valuable time dealing with wrongly channelled emotions.
Education › Re: Uniport Students Protest: Live Feeds by hardbody: 3:52pm On Oct 09, 2012
I should not be commenting on this, but heck. Way back in the times, when the community around Unical agressed one of our students, all the occupants of Goldie street and environs lost one thing or other including loved ones. It took the intervention of the then state governor that came to plead before we stopped the rampage and even at that, students boycotted that area meaning low or no patronage for their businesses. It's sad these Uniport guys are not well guided, by now Aluu community would have lost at least 8 lives and still counting. You match illegality with illegality, while the higher authorities keep suing for peace. You dont kill a potential graduate and not pay with bloooood, it never would have happened in malabor, NEVER.

berem: that is naija men for you! Smfh!
Did u just post that? Nigerian women do not help matters either. Assuming they are really a couple, why would the woman not wait till they get home and deal with the issues including the man. I guess oil and water don't mix. No sane man can date a fighter of a woman. Why should women assume that they can be aggressive in the public without repercussions? Food for thought, how many women fight themselves on the streets? They are always willing to aggress a man with the belief that nothing unto wards will happen to her. The guy should beat her thoroughly as a lesson so that she doesn't start a scene in a public place going forward

view of the foregoing, the Federal Government is of the informed view that with less than two days to the period when the revision will be statute barred (9th October, 2012), it would be impossible for Nigeria to satisfy the requirements of Articles 61(1) -(5) of the ICJ Statute,” Mr. Adoke said in the statement.

THis is what irked me the most. If Nigeria knew it would be impossible to satisfy the requirements of the Articles given that it has just about 2 days left to appeal, why did she not consider this appeal ahead of time. And as for damaging international reputation, did we ever have any reputation? It would have been better to fight till the last than to throw our hands up in despair. For once i regret being a Nigerian.

Politics › Re: Achebe On Awolowo: Has He Gone Too Far? by hardbody: 8:13am On Oct 07, 2012
Prof Corruption: Who the fck is Achebe? He is just one of numerous English professors Nigeria has produced. We have Biodun Jeyifo teaching in Harvard and writing a column for Guardian every Sunday. Olupona teaching in Harvard as I type. We have Soyinka who won Nobel Prize several years ago.

Who the fck gives a $h!t about Achebe if he decides to sit in Providence forever? By the way, he is teaching in a pseudo Ivy league university. The truth of the matter is simple: the whole noise about Achebe is hype. The whole nonsensical reputation of his is built on Things Fall Apart, a thoroughly superstitious copy and paste book about Okonkwo.
See bad belle. Bro acclaim a man towering above your generations yet unborn. It is a simple fact of life. He is more influential than your ilk, at least academia acknowledges that, you may of course do better in bigotry. Things fall apart is world acclaimed and interpreted in various languages. Let Jeyifo, Olupona and the rest write their epic texts for the world to assess

Family › Re: ' I Sold My Child For N4M And I Want Him Back Now' by hardbody: 10:34am On Oct 06, 2012
CyberG: This story can hardly be believed and I will just have to be FRANK.

1. Are you talking about the same iboland (East) that OnlyLIES, AfamLoser4Eva, Dende, Okenawg0, arzeLITTLE, and other small ibo tribalists have said is London, New York, Paris, Canaan, etc all-in-one? A place where they are all billionaires and better than every other parts of Nigeria who have larger cities, higher GDPs, more education, etc? Some iboz have been lying I think.

2. You say life is difficult in iboland and YES that is TRUE, MOST Nigerians know that. That is why the SW are so gracious; they let iboz into their wide borders and enjoy their culture, education, sophisticatedness, etc founded on thousands of years of evolution on diplomacy but what do your lucky iboz folks do? They abuse their hosts, the reason 30,000+ was killed in the North before ojuku's madness of a war. Chief Obafemi Awolowo who was one of the pillars for an educated, organized society in Nigeria and the SW and from whom benefit a LOT till today instead of being appreciated is being denigrated, NOT that their useless opinions count anyway. Meanwhile, the greatest achievement of ibozx leader ojuku is the killing of 2 small girls as he scrambled to get on a plane to Abidjan as well as leading his sheepish followers to a 3 M+ dead costly war.

3. Does it mean all the ibox billionaires in ibo villages cannot even help? No family to help? No community to help? You could not even tell anyone because they would laugh at you and disgrace you because you only needed a little bit of help to get going? How much was all the help that could have been needed financially? Lots of folks like you moved to the fertile lands of the SW and Northern Nigeria and they end up doing very well, something they could not in iboland. iboz should know they ar just ordinary human beings, no pride in being small today and laughing at your situation, so much you can't even tell them; you sold your flesh for 4 M ?

4. Now though, you've woken up and want your baby back, do you have the 4 M refund of purchase? If this Alhaji (hopefully) kept the baby and he has grown a bit now, do you think it's fair to just give him his money back and take your baby? If you'd offered to just marry him just to be able to keep your baby since you many not even have 4 M, it is your ibo folks that will be the first to curse you again. See where I am going with this?

5. When you were having the hard time, if all you had done was move to Oyo, Lagos, Ogun, Osun, etc; squat with someone while you found a way to start a business with just 25,000; live a decent live, you might in fact be getting ready to marry a decent young man over there in a few short years and have some money of your own. Bottomline is we all know its not easy and stories like these hopefully help iboz to wake-up and stop their self-deception.
It is interesting reading your self aggrandizing justification. It is also shocking how myopic people like you think. There is no economy, nay community where poverty or being rich is so widespread that you cannot find a below average person. We have lots of them even in the western world, I guess the fundamental difference is that everyone can either afford the basic necessities of life or have same provided via a working welfare system. Having said that, are you aware that even if we adjudged what this lady did as being wicked or stupid, depending on how you see it, she has given the child a life different from what some other girls would have done and still doing namely suffocating or dumping the child in one dry well? Someone admits to a wrong and all you do is vilify not just the person but whole ibo race. You need to go through a functional literacy programme to develop your arrested mental growth. Just an advice.

Politics › Re: Why Are Nigerians In Diaspora So Bitter? by hardbody: 4:48pm On Oct 05, 2012
thelastPope: I am really getting irritated by many Nigerians in diaspora. They seem bent on seeing Nigeria and Nigerians go down. They come here and all over other Internet sites spewing garbage about Nigeria. They will put down anything positive about Nigeria. It seems they are suffering from gross bitterness.

There is no denying the fact that Nigeria has many issues but we cannot solve it by hating ourselves with so much raw hate and talking nonsense all the time. There is a time to critisize. For example, I like to criticize our excesses on materialism as a people which leads us to many unwanted stuff like corruption and crime. But insulting the nation and saying we will never make it and making us look so pathetic to the rest of the world is just too bad! We have our dignity and pride and we will never sacrifice that on any alter of self defeat and hopelessness.

If these bitter diaspora folks can't see anything good about Nigeria and Nigerians, I wonder why they even bother to post on Nigerian forums. They should carry their crap somewhere else. They forget that they are part of those who have failed Nigeria because they have not made any meaningful contribution to Nigerian growth.

Some of us travel out of the country and know how many of these folks live in Europe and even the US. In spain, Italy and Greece, many of them beg on the streets. In the UK, I don't even want to start. They haul themselves, sometimes as much as 15 in a 2 room apartment! Yet they talk nonsense here on NL because they can afford cheap Tmobile internet connection.

We have no other country but Nigeria. We must stand up and build it. Yes, it is a long road but it is a journey worth taking! Our families and friends live here. The question we must ask ourselves today is how can we make it better?

Apologies/acknowledgement to the many Nigerians in diaspora who do not fall into this category. Your patriotic contribution is a blessing to some of us!
Na wa oo. Bros u sef sound bitter. Take it easy nah, you can make the same point without sounding pugilistic.

semid4lyfe: Aaah. . .my good friend toba taking me down memory lane kiss

Those soaps/telenovellas were the bomb back then and I followed the episodes on TV as if my life depended on it.

Funnily enough, my Sis has most of these Mexican telenovelas on DVD and watching them again, I can't stand 'em for 5 minutes.

Just too many unrealistic and unnecessary coincidences, twists & turns and prolonged supense for my liking. Also, I find 'em too sappy, wishy-washy and melodramatic. I guess that boy has grown into a man and I see things differently now wink tongue

Santa Barbara (American), The Love Boat (American), Young and Restless (American), The Bold and the Beautiful (American), The Rich Also Cry (Mexican), Secret of the Sands (Mexican), No One But You (Mexican) were my favourites back then.

When You Are Mine (Cuando Seas Mia), The Gardeners Daughter, Catalina and Sebastian, Second Chance are a little more recent
.
I was living ahead of my time so i knew i could not stand watching those things then, i still cant stand watching any of them now. That is just who i am.

I am a christian (practical) and i believe in God. I however hate veneration of humans. Some preacher talks nonesense and you complain when people expose the stu.pidity in his reasoning. I do agree that the Bible says, 'marry only in the Lord', if your Adeboye is restricting marriage in the Lord to members of his congregation, has Christ then become divided? rather than see the folly of his argument, you are threatening people with him being a MOG, Man of God my yansh. Please ask him to curse me and let us see whether he has a faster access to God than I do and whether we do not both pass through the same channel namely Jesus Christ
