paschu: Our leaders always lie. That's not new. Even the pictures posted on this thread could be a lie. My opinion is what I posted and I am sure you know that there is truth in it. Those structures will definitely join uncompleted projects on our university campuses. So why inject that amount? When you can complete others. For your information, Even GEJ himself knew he was playing politics by creating a federal university in ech state. What was ASUU complaining of in there 6month strike in Jul-Dec 2013? |

paschu: There is no real sense creating new Universities when you can use the money to develop existing ones. There is a petroleum university in Effurun and a Maritime Academy in Oron. If this school's get 7billion Naira each and are given specific mandates. I think it will be better. Even the so called bigger universities in which I work in one are under staffed and have poor working conditions so creating a totally new university will amount to making university education been belittled. I have not been to that area before but with the state of this project and Nigeria economy for now, it does not appear the University can kickstart in 3-5 years. So why the monumental waist of funds. Most new universities created by GEJ in each state started with either one federal college or a location with existing infrastructure. With that, the 1.5billion take of grant was at least able to allow them start courses in the social sciences and administration which does not require labs and equipment. At this stage of the project. I do not support the cancellation of the university project but the project might suffer progress due to the economy. If I was from that area, I will sincerely campaign for its continuation because of its advantages to my people. Let's pray the economy kick up and the project can be completed for the people of Gbaramatu. Nonetheless, an assessment of the worth of the structures on ground and the funds released should be carried out if there seems to be doubt on the amount spent. 2 Likes |

A 500L Medicine dropout, according to his story he runs a Laboratory and his landlord accused him of carrying out abortion. It was his landlord who raised the alarm which led LUTH to forward the letter to the Police. |

Health / Causes Of Raised Blood Cholesterol by Hearme(m): 7:28pm On Nov 30, 2015 |
Blood cholesterol is considered to be raised if a blood test shows that the level of total cholesterol is ≥ 5.0mmol/l. The safe threshold for maximum Total cholesterol is lower if a person is considered to be at risk of heart disease and other related illnesses. Raised blood cholesterol is caused by both genetic and environmental factors. Familial hypercholesterolemia is a rare genetic disorder characterized by very high LDL (‘bad’) cholesterol and early cardiovascular diseases, which runs in families. Environmental factors such as obesity and dietary choices are another cause for raised blood cholesterol. A diet high in saturated fat can increase blood cholesterol levels. Other illnesses, such as type 2 diabetes, obesity and hypothyroidism may promote raised blood cholesterol. Health / Keeping Cholesterol Level Down by Hearme(m): 7:09pm On Nov 30, 2015 |
Africa is rising... but so also are medical conditions that can be associated with an improved lifestyle, one of which is raised blood cholesterol. Cholesterol occurs naturally and plays a positive role in the body, however, at high levels in the blood, cholesterol can cause a narrowing of the blood vessels and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular diseases can lead to a reduced life expectancy. Wealth is only good if it brings a net positive benefit to a person or group of people. If Africans are to see the net positive benefit of increasing wealth, careful attention has to be paid to reducing the potential negative impact that a wealthier life style can bring. Raised blood cholesterol is one of those potential negative aspects of a more affluent lifestyle. This issue of First Class Health looks closely at cholesterol and how to keep it low and healthy whilst Africa continues to rise. Politics / Re: Why We Jailed Gen. Ransome-kuti – Army by Hearme(m): 11:13pm On Oct 18, 2015 |
Love Machine: You lack military bearing, who told you generals dont go to war, who leads?. As a matter of fact he was the multinational Joint Task Force Commander at Baga, a special operation different from the Operation lafia dole. That Task force has been even before Boko Haram started. The General will be released because he has been in detention for more than 6 months and his dismisal will be converted to retirement on further appeal. Gen Kuti is a very hardworking and nice officer known to me since he was a Capt in the 90s. It was a well planned 4am attack by Boko boys. 2 Likes 1 Share |

That man is an admission runs man. There is noting like part time lecturer. Parent should be careful of who they commit there children to. I wont be surprised if he has decieved the parent to collect money for admission purpose. A lecturer in the university has an office and would not descend so low to rape in a classroom. 1 Like |

PMB is wise for taking this step. They will definately be gradually reinstalled to work but untill their loyality is ascertained, they can not be entrusted with such work. |

Health / Adding Life To Years Instead Of Adding Years To Live (way Forward For Africa) by Hearme(m): 7:24pm On Jun 17, 2015 |
Africa is in a place of great optimism. Needless to say, there is always conflict in one part of the continent or another but by and large, the future looks bright economically and politically. Democracies are getting more stable and foreign direct investment is becoming increasingly appealing to many international companies. There is, however, one picture of Africa that is not looking great - health. Firstly, the current life expectancy at birth in Africa is 56 years (53 for Nigeria) compared to the global average of 70 years. This is a very unfortunate reality and one that is expected to improve as more and more communicable diseases are dealt with on the continent. Communicable diseases are currently the main causes of mortality in Africa. Secondly, the expected growth in the African economy is set to coincide with an increase in life expectancy. Unfortunately, if nothing is done, this increased prosperity will bring with it non-communicable diseases like obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes due to changes in lifestyle. What we therefore have coming at us is a situation where people may be adding years to their lives without necessarily adding life to their years. These non-communicable diseases have to be prevented if the growing political stability, increasing economic prosperity and increasing life expectancy are going to bring blessings rather than mixed blessings.
