That's the effect of government paying salaries on 23rd and 24th most people are still waiting for their alert. Their wives have to go to shop hence the compulsory que to collect money. Some what to travel and others have to do happy Christmas for children around them, the aged, and their lovers. Its just could be very frustrating. Personally, I have decided to celebrate at low key. Just feel my generator with fuel, relax at home and feed my eyes with premier league on 26th.

For speaking against Obasanjo, you are no longer a mad professor. We are sorry for abusing you undecided undecided

He has never been a pal of OBJ. Rumours have it that he denied OBJ been the UN Sec General in place of Kofi Anann.
Ogun state people have never loved OBJ. They keep hating him because the more they try to pull him down the more he succeeds.
As a matter of fact, he happen to be their most successful son in Nigeria.

Why did the Prof. not talk when Abdusalami and IBB where visited. It just shows his bitterness with OBJ's person.
The struggle for who is who in Yourubaland is very tense and full of demonic influeces anyway.

What a lovely response . . . . grin

Same way I feel. Even though its known that his media gurus must have written those notes. My appeal is that OBJ should not write another letter, if he does, two things may likely prop up. The presidency might pick him up for treason or the national assembly might impeach the president. Either of this two things will lead to a very serious agitation in the country that might even be worse than BH. Everyone should thread with caution.

This two patriots should put their pens down now, but I doubt if OBJ will ever do that. Its going to get though if OBJ writes another letter, it might just lead to him been picked up for treason and that might even be a battle worse than BH on its own.

My opinion is that APC has really conjured with gods to divide the PDP OR God has decided to expose the evil deeds of PDP over the years. I still have the opinion that GEJ is a nice man who is gradually understanding governance but very careful to stamp his authority. IBB, Abdusalami, Shagari, Shonekan and Gowon should all come up to stop this mess. Its more than a nairaland E fight. It has deep consequences on the nation.

Health / Re: Her Bosom Secretes Milk But She's Not Pregnant by Hearme(m): 6:05pm On Dec 17, 2013
Hyperprolactemia is the excessive secretion of prolactin, a hormone responsible for production of breast milk. Prolactin level rises throughout pregnancy but for corresponding increase in estrogen and progesterone produced by the placenta, the breast milk is not been let down during pregnancy.

At birth, when the placenta is delivered, milk can now be let down because the source of inhibition from the placenta is off. If suckling is initiated between the first 3 days, prolactin level remains high, thus inhibiting the production of FSH and LH which leads to the suspension of ovulation and menstrual cycle. This can be referred to as the contraceptive effect of prolactin which helps to prevent another pregnancy in the next 3months. On the other hand if the child does not suck within the first 3days, prolactin level begins to drop and the female cycle could begin as early as possible.

From this analysis, a non lactating mother who continuously secrete breast milk outside of pregnancy is at a risk of infertility due to the suspension of the cycle by the effects of prolactin on the gonadotropes ( FSH and LH). She will also have irregular menstrual cycle as a result of this. The individual is advised to visit a physician who will prescribe a drug that is and antagonist of prolactin secretion(name withheld to prevent drug abuse). This drug helps reduce prolactin secretion and restores the cycle back within a short time.

So don't be afraid it can be therapeutically treated. Same hyperprolactinemia in men, can result in low sperm count, because FSH that supports the process of spermatogenesis is being inhibited and LH that aids the production of testosterone is also inhibited. Thus the indirect function of testosterone on spermatogenesis is also cut off and the male also exposed to low sperm count. The man also has an enlarged breast as a result of excessive prolactin.

Since he said that did you ever see him come to the public to make any statement? He messed up totally and should be forever grateful to the likes of the public campaigner and chief orators like Doyin Okupe who laid down some part of his integrity to bail him out.

If GEJ himself was not playing politics, what made him wait until the whole issue degenerated to this level. Its a shame they can implement an agreement signed 4years ago and will only bulge when the system is closed down. I'm sure you are part of those saying sack them all.

ASUU has just demonstrated to all Nigerians how to hold our government accountable. Its my prayer that more groups will come up to kill corruption in this country. Lets all begin to hold our leaders accountable and stop tribalism, regionalism and religious sentiments. Way forward Nigeria is that the 158million people should rise up and hold the few less than 2million people holding our country to ransome. The more enlighten we become, the better we can fight as one.

Hello all. this is not the time to bash Sahara reporters. Can we all just as a country begin to ask questions?
Why are we depleting our excess crude account?
The minister has just told us that the ECA will be further depleted
from 3.3bndollars to $2.5bn.
Who are those holding this country ransome?
Why did the CBN spokesperson term the conversation between the CBN and the president confidential?
Can those working in FIRS provide details of TAX in the oil sector?
All NGO's should please step out to investigate and as usuall if sahara reporters have a sample of the letter, they should please release
it so the world can see it.
Why is NNPC salaries different from those from other federal establishment?
I just hope we will not wake up one day and hear that this country has been sold to Mr XYZ
Business / NNPC Failed To Remit $49.8bn, Between Jan 2012-july 2013. by Hearme(m): 5:41pm On Dec 10, 2013
An online news medium, SaharaReporters, reported on Monday that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, had accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation of failing to remit $49.8bn (about N8tn) to the Federation Account between 2012 and July this year.

The medium quoted Sanusi as complaining to President Goodluck Jonathan via a letter about the continuing refusal of the NNPC to honour its legal obligations, including failure to remit the said amount, which it said represented 76 per cent of the value of crude oil lifting during the period.

The complaints are contained in the letter to the President dated September 25, 2013.
Sanusi reportedly wrote, “Our analysis of the value of crude oil export proceeds based on the documentation received from pre-shipment inspectors shows that between January 2012 and July 2013, NNPC lifted 594,024,107 barrels of crude valued at $65,332,350,514.57.
“Out of this amount, NNPC repatriated only $15,528,410,098.77, representing 24 per cent of the value. This means the NNPC is yet to account for, and repatriate to the Federation Account, an amount in excess of $49.804bn of the value of oil lifted in the same period.”
Drawing attention to an attached table of analysis of the crude oil lifting and repatriations as prepared by the CBN, the governor noted that the failure of the NNPC to repatriate the amounts constituted not only a violation of constitutional provisions but also the country’s foreign exchange and pre-shipment inspection of export laws.

Also drawing attention to previous occasion in which he had expressed concern about what appeared to be shortfalls in remittances to the Federation Account in spite of the strong recovery in the price of oil, Sanusi said a point of departure ought to be to insist that the NNPC accounted fully for all proceeds that were diverted from its accounts with the CBN and the Federation Account.
He further wrote, “As an indicator of how bad this situation has become, please note that in 2012 alone, the Federation Account received $28.51bn in petroleum profits and related taxes, but only $10.13bn from crude oil proceeds.
“In the period January-July 2013, the corresponding figures are $16.65bn and $5.39bn, respectively. This means, Your Excellency, that in the first seven months of the year, taxes accounted for 76 per cent of the total inflow from this sector, while NNPC crude oil proceeds accounted for only 24 per cent.”

Sanusi, therefore, recommended to the President to require the NNPC to provide evidence for disposal of all proceeds of crude sales diverted from the CBN and Federation Account; investigate crude oil lifting and swap contracts, as well as the financial transactions of counter-parties for equity, fairness and transparency; and authorise prosecution of suspects in money-laundering transactions, including but not limited to Bureaux de Change, who were unable to account for hundreds of millions of dollars.
When contacted by The PUNCH for the confirmation of the story, the CBN spokesperson, Mr. Ugochukwu Okoroafor, said he was not aware of the said letter, adding that correspondences between the President and the central bank governor were confidential matters between the two of them.

Picketing lectures during strike is a norm as long as the lecture is going on in the school premises. I just wonder why it so difficult for the government to sign the new agreement for implementation. Nigerians should get wise. Imagine the so called NANS getting 30M from Minister of education to distribute to SUG presidents to raise more propaganda against ASUU.

Which is more easier, to sponsor propaganda on media, through market women, NANS etc or to send the document to a business center, type and fax to ASUU president?

* Can you wear a agbada with face cap?...
The list go on and on,but the truth is,ITS A GREAT MISS
For goodness sake you are not a fashion clown, neither are you a masquerade...

The only exception to this is that, with the modern trend of traditional attire coming in form of english wear ,u can wear socks when its the top(traditional attire) alone on a trouser...

IF NOT ,ITS A GREAT MISS!!!

Someone somewhere started those unwritten laws. If a celebrity (Obama, D banj, Denrele, GEJ, Messi, Billgate) begins to were canvass on suit today, virtually all Nigerians will say that's the raining fashion in town.

At a time waste coat was outdated. This days corporate guys now like to wear armless sweaters which is a cover to waste coat. Finally, do men plait hairs in the seventies? Why did men started sagging? Do the Hebrews still wear robe and skirts all about? Do you prefer a smelling foot in your house due to not wearing socks for fashion sake. I think the priority should be if you're comfortable with it and not just for the sake of pleasing others.

Hello, the strike wouldn't have occurred if the government has implemented the agreement since 2009. Therefore it is insincere for the government not to also pay them since it was the government who breached the contract.

You should know by this analogy that they know better than you. The system is far behind and what ASUU is trying to do is called catch up growth. Ask those who have gone for their 2nd degree outside how it works? Education is not cheap. If government is subsidizing, they should be ready to invest heavily. You can even subsidize and still generate funds from foreign students. Nigerians pay 2-3million per session in Ghana.

Bro, If you followed the news in the last three weeks, you will know that GEJ didn't promise ASUU 200 Billion this year.

GEJ told them to accept the 100 billion infrastructure and 40 billion earned allowance(in which another will still be paid) .
Then he now said that starting from 2014, he will disburse 220 billion for infrastructures for a period of 5 years. This was the offer that Fagge took to his fellow lecturers and with which majority called for the strike to be called off and the office of the president respected.

Now, when Fagge replied GEJ, he brought forward new conditions that 1) FG should release 200 billion for the year 2013 for infrastructures 2) FG should pay the 4 months salary of ASUU 3) That lecturers should not be victimised even though they disrupted academic activities for 5 months.

If you were the president, wouldn't you see this new demands as a means to frustrate you?

The news has been saying nonsense long ago. Only 30billion has been released. The 100billiob Suswan claimed to have raised is a scam. Award letters were given to schools but no school have received a dime after 2months.

Did the committee of vice chancellors also give the orders to the IG. If WIKE (we intend killing education) as posted in another thread was only passing down orders from the committee. Why was he shouting in that press conference and why did he loose his comportment? I will not be surprised if ASUU adds Wike's public apology as a condition for calling of the strike. Rivers people should be weary by now of who they want to elect as governor. For God sake I learnt he is a barrister, he lacks deco rum. If you like go and work in Pluto, that's your own kettle of fish, but to say the Nigerian Students should keep staying at home while you and your stew.pid lots keep receiving salaries for jobs not executed - is very wicked and foolish to say the least.

Before it was NO WORK - NO PAY!
Now it's NO WORK - GET SACKED!!

Why did the no work no pay work? Do you think the no work get sacked will work? The only reason it will not work is because government has refused to train people or inject money to research which will make PhD students graduate quickly and many other students interested in running a PhD. If the country has 400,000 PhD holders of working class out of her 160million population, that number alone will be enough to make no work get sacked work at least to an extent. It is a shame that our universities boast of less than 35 000 PhD holders and I doubt if you will get another 100 PhD holders who are without jobs. This is because it takes a minimum of 2-3 million plus several mental work to run a PhD in Nigeria. The rich men children who can afford it don't want mental stress, while those who cannot afford the pay find it challenging to cope. Thus many people abandon the program. Those who get assistant lecturing job end up using their salaries to run the program.

So ask your self this question, will it work? The reason Gov Fashola bulged was not because he was that powerful nor week. It is because consultants are very few around. About 60% of graduate medical students from Unilag move out of the country yearly. At the moment, house officers are yet to be paid 7-8months house job allowance due to government policy. Do you think those guys won't use the money when paid to seek greener pasture out of this country. RESIDENTS went on strike and called off about 2 months ago yet these young lads are yet to be paid. If by Jan 1 they decide to begin another strike Nigerians will be saying they should consider the sick. Can a hungry man do the right thing? Think well and stop letting PDP things affect you.

Imagine the President of Nigeria granting ASUU 13 hours of negotiation and then making reasonable offer to them. If ASUU were wise, they would have quickly convened their NEC before the end of that week and issued statement like: "To show our respect to the President, we hereby call off this strike, believing that our President is an honorable man." Respect is reciprocal. Instead what ASUU has done is to show the world that the President is not greater than them and so deserves no honor or respect. They delay for more than two weeks and then demand for another 13 hours with the President. I used to think that it is only Igbos that do not know how to respect "kings", but now it dawns on me that even a Bini man with centuries of monarchial culture is not different from Igbos; even Yorubas and Hausa-Fulanis. I now strongly believe that a set of wrong people are occupying our ivory towers. The FG should use this opportunity to do something about it.

You write like a wise man, but your position is very wrong because it seems you lack knowledge of what's going on. The same president was part of the agreement as a vice.president and was on ground as president in 2012 when a memorandum of understanding was signed. If this two process failed, and the senate president can say those people who negotiated for government do not know their left from right, don't you think that it is wise for ASUU to get a commitment letter from Mr president or from the Attorney General of the federation (the most senior learned colleague and gov't legal officer) who knows his left from his right to sign the document rather than allow a perm sec to do so again. To prove that government is not sincere, when the vice president negotiated with ASUU, we all recalled that he was told to make it black and white, that is to say ASUU was ready to shift ground long ago, but needed evidence that government would not disappoint again.

In addition to this, universities have received award letters from government since September for infrastructure from the 100billion Suswan claimed to have raised. At this moment, no school has received a kobo after 3months. Is that not the same money ASUU is telling government to disburse and sign a binding letter? It just shows that there was no money anywhere to pump to this schools. And I also suspect that delay in the budget might not be due to disagreement on fuel benchmark alone but a ploy to allow ASUU call of and then the present 7% to education in the budget.

lets put all sentiments such as religion, ethnics and zones apart, and face the real deal. ASUU IS MADE UP OF PEOPLE ALONG THIS DIFFERENT LINE OF RELIGION, ZONE AND TRIBE, YET THEY ARE UNITED AND PURPOSEFUL. WHAT MAKES THEM SO STRONG IS A SIMPLE FACT THAT THEY ARE ALL INTELLECTUALS AND THE GOVERNMENT KNOWS IT IS DIFFICULT TO BRUSH THEM ASIDE.

Pele College of Education student. You have only either seen only one Prof in your life or none. Because the only Prof would be the Provost who will never come to you class to teach you. Stop posing as a university student. May be you are even a secondary school drop out from the E who turned trader. You might need Wike's help with the almajiris school programme and that for those who dropout to go into trading. LOL
