Education / Re: ASUU Dismisses Fg’s Threat To Sack Lecturers by Hearme(m): 10:52am On Nov 30, 2013 |
deletrue: If you want to know how many professors, doctors etc that are available, awaiting for any slightest employment opportunity, ask those who attended Dangoti group of companies during the drivers interview. A sound PhD holder can not be jobless with all our universities lacking in manpower. Those who went to Dangote knows what they are looking for. You only need to fly out of this country for once and see how things are been organized, including the educational system. Its a shame that people like you will go and collect rice and 1K to vote next year. We can't continue in a system full of looting. FIRS tax on Non oil revenue is about 2trillion, Customs returns is about 1trillion, not to talk about Oil which that they say is the main source of revenue. 2014 budget is estimated at 4.7 trillion. Will you say that Nigeria only raise 1.7trillion from oil per annum if you include revenue from customs and FIRS. Our leaders are not sincere and they will remain like that unless we start making them accountable. How long will it take to construct Lokoja-Abuja road? Since OBJ Regime. They pump billions to those roads yearly and we don't see it. Thank God the one they always loot by deceiving us with PHCN is about over. What sane country will have fuel and don't have a functional refinery. If this ASUU strike will lead to a revolution please bring it on. In 1year fixed charge with PHCN has moved from 250 naira to 750naira. Whether you have light or not you must pay. 4K was loaded in my house since August ending I still have 22units left, yet I spend about 8k montly on generator for few hours per day. Don't even mention water. Every home now has a borehole or a well. You are either drinking pure water or seaway. Our hospitals are also bad. This all buoys down to why our leaders have their children in foreign schools and go outside for medical care. The hands here are capable of offering such services but corruption will not agree. We have thousands of academics out of this country and doing very well. Not to talk of Doctors,Nurses etc, We can replicate the same here. When wil we ever be wise. The sum of money Nigerians pay in Ghana for fees is about the same amount we budget for the entire universities in the country, not to talk about UK and US. If we make our system work well like it use to be before, we can attract back foreigners to our schools both as students and lecturers' and with that alone we will raise more. Money for the nation. It is a pity that even the minister does not recognize education as a business that can raise good money for the country. If they know, then the assumption of deliberately killing government schools to grow their private universities is true 3 Likes |

Zutchy: ASUU should just apply to INEC for registration as a new political party. Enough is enough. All the fedral govt came up with is a letter signed by the perm Sec Min of Education for a 13hours plus meeting. ASUU seeking commitment to the agreement by Mr President or the attorney general is right. We all heard the Senate President say publicly that, those involved in the 2009 agreement do not know their left from their right. In my own opinion, this statement is what has led ASUU to seek governments commitment by a high ranking govenrment officer. In all, the table has been set to call of the strike already. Wike should stop saying bullshit. I guess they are all annoyed with the G5 defection from PDP to APC. 1 Like |

The two lecturers are betrayals'. It was learnt that Dr. Daramola called ASUU NEC stupid for refusing to hold NEC meeting because of the death of Prof. Iyayi. He has no regard for life and I think he holds no principle when it comes to unionism. It was also learnt that he was booed out of the congress, when he refused to apologize to Congress members. It's a big propaganda that ASUU wants to end the strike in January. We all know that the Labor Minister said that ASUU will talk to its members and get back to government. The meeting has been scheduled for today. ASUU does not want a situation in which they will be told the permanent sec, who signed the current letter ob implementation modality does not know his right from his left. |

This is a good development. After 3-5 years in the best universities in the world, do you think this chaps will return or stay in our Universities if they remain like this? To retain them at home, funding of universities being canvased by ASUU needs to be effected appropriately and not with lip service. The pay should also be such that it will encourage them to stay. WE SHOULD REMEMBER THAT WE ARE SENDING OUR BEST BRAINS OUT. AND OUTSIDE THERE, THE DEVELOPED WORLD WILL DO AND OFFER ANYTHING TO THEM SO THAT THEY CAN STAY IN THEIR COUNTRY. I HOPE WE GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME. 2 Likes |
Education / Re: Unijos Receives $8m World Bank Grant For Research by Hearme(m): 2:44pm On Nov 23, 2013 |
the planmaker: embezzlement things Universities are not what you think of when it comes to accountability. First the money will be released in batches to the school and the researchers access it when needed. The university usually has 5-10% of such grants as its own portion. While the researchers are also compensated. Any thing outside the lay down procedures such as embezzlement will lead to the blacklisting of the university. Such that no international body conducts research with it again. I hope you can see the different. Congratulations to unijos. 6-9 universities are to benefit from this. UNILAG was also shortlisted. We await other schools to come up with their own announcement soon. Those who criticize ASUU on funding should multiply 8million dollars by 6-9 universities, convert it to naira and compare it to what universities are requesting government to do. That's 7-11 billion naira for 6 -9 universities. With this, patents will come in. More companies will be attracted to Nigeria and most trado-medical practitioners will find a means of making their products refined and marketable all over the world. Please like this if you think ASUU means development for our schools and Nigeria at large. |

Nothing will happen to the lady if she knows what to do. She should liase with the schools disciplinary committee. They will arrange the money and the venue. While security personnel's will be available in the hotel. I bet you that once this lecturer is caught, he will be expelled and in some instances his certificate can be revoked by the university making him unemployable in any university again. Don't fall victim always act responsible and wise. Lets get rid of the bad ones out of our universities. |

Religion / How To I Overcome A Habitual Sin by Hearme(m): 4:55pm On Nov 03, 2013 |
The first thing to consider in how to overcome habitual sin is to note the change, or transformation, that takes place when a person is saved. The Bible describes the natural man as “dead in sin and trespasses” (Ephesians 2:1). As a result of Adam’s fall into sin, man is born spiritually dead. In this state of spiritual death, man is unable and unwilling to follow and obey God and habitual sin naturally follows. Natural man sees the things of God as foolishness (1 Corinthians 2:14) and is hostile toward God (Romans 8:7). When a person is saved, a transformation takes place. The Apostle Paul refers to this as the new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). From the moment we place our faith in Christ we are in the process of sanctification. The process of sanctification is that by which those who are in Christ are conformed by the Holy Spirit into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). Sanctification in this life will never be fully complete, which means that believers will always struggle with remaining sin. Paul describes this battle with sin in Romans 7:15-25. In that passage he notes that even though he desires to do what is good in the eyes of God, he often does what is evil instead. He does the evil he doesn’t want to do and fails to do the good that he wants to do. In this, he is describing every Christian’s struggle with sin. James says we all sin in different ways (James 3:2), and that means each of us has what may be called “besetting” sins. Some sins are easier to overcome than others. Some struggle with anger, others with gossip, and others with lying. The point is that each of us has a sin (or some sins) with which we struggle. These besetting sins are habits that we developed during our lives as unbelievers and require more grace and discipline to overcome. Part of the process of overcoming these habitual, or besetting, sins is in recognizing the transformation that has indeed taken place within the believer. Paul writes, “So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11). When Paul says, “consider yourselves dead to sin,” he is telling us to remember that in coming to Christ, the power of sin has been broken in our lives. He uses the metaphor of slavery to make this point. We were at one time slaves to sin, but now we are slaves to righteousness (Romans 6:17-18). At the cross, the power of sin was broken and in becoming Christians, we are set free from sin’s slavery over us. Therefore, when a Christian sins, it is no longer out of the necessity of his nature, but because he has willfully submitted himself to sin’s dominion (Galatians 5:1). The next part of the process is recognizing our inability to overcome habitual sin and our need to rely on the power of God’s Holy Spirit, who dwells within us. Back to Romans 7, Paul says, “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out” (Romans 7:25). The Christian’s struggle against sin is one in which our ability does not match our desire. That is why we need the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul later says, “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11). The Holy Spirit, through God’s Word (John 17:17), works sanctification in the people of God. Habitual sin is overcome as we submit ourselves to God and refuse the temptations of the flesh (James 4:7-. Another part of the process of overcoming habitual sin is to change the habits that facilitate it. We have to adopt the attitude of Joseph who, when tempted by Potiphar’s wife to come to bed with her, left the room so quickly that he left his cloak in her hands (Genesis 39:15). We simply must make every effort to run from the things that tempt us to sin, including access to food if we are given to overeating, and access to pornography if we are tempted to sexual sin. Jesus tells us to cut off our hand or pluck out our eye if they “offend” us (Matthew 5:29-30). This means removing from our lives anything, even those things close to us, if they tempt us to sin. In short, we have to change the habits that lead to habitual sin. Finally, we need to immerse ourselves in the truth of the gospel. The gospel is not only the means by which we are saved, but it is also the means by which we are sanctified (Romans 16:25). If we think we are saved by grace, but sanctified by our own efforts, we fall into error (Galatians 3:1-3). Sanctification is as much a work of God as justification. The promise we have from Scripture is that he who began a good work in us will complete it on the last day (Philippians 1:6). Read more: http://www.gotquestions.org/habitual-sin.html#ixzz2jbA4DvZM |
