UmmTwins2:Yes. Some babies experience colic even up till 6 months. Like I said in my earlier post, give him infacol or take him to the hospital. |
stadora:stop the drugs since his poo is bck to normal now. has he been feeding well? the water you are giving him, ensure it is warm. dress him without a diaper and see if his attire will get wet. if by evening, its still the same, take him to the hospital |
UmmTwins2:sounds like colic. have you tried 'infacol'? its quite effective. |
Chinwendym:in addition to bathing him late, say 9-10pm, use a 'night time bath liquid wash for babies'. i use the one made by boots and its very good. also try and dim the lights in the room where your baby sleeps. are you EBF or doing combination feeding? if you are doing combination, giving your baby formula after his night bath also helps. as for staring at your baby all the time and also wanting to hold on to him 24/7, i can relate to that . my mum teases me by calling me 'mama baby' or 'madam give me my baby' ![]()
|
zaynie:Hahahaha. You this mama ![]() |
babythug:And pee all night? ![]() Mbanu, I'll pass. |
zaynie: ![]() Oga is ogi. Whether at 2 months or 12 months. |
mbula:I knew the diagnosis was wrong which was I said i would personally ignore it. That paediatrician should be flogged. I wonder how many other mums he's given wrong diagnosis which has resulted in sending them into panic mode. |
lovinam: ![]() I fully agree with your husband. |
babythug and zaynie - Ogi Voltrons what about pee? the few times i take Ogi, i find myself just visiting the loo. does it have the same effect on babies? what about tiredness/feeling sleepy? some adults do say thats how ogi makes them feel. how do you feed a 2-3 months old baby with it considering the fact that ogi is thick and a child that age should be fed ideally using a bottle with a teat with just one hole or two? dont tell me you over-dilute the ogi oh to make it the same consistency as milk or water |
happymama:Aptamil ! its the best in the market. i have never and will never be a fan of giving babies PAP.aka. ''Ogi''. its nothing but a very complex carbohydrate-laden meal with absolutely no nutritional benefits. As an adult i am not even a fan and absolutely no way, i am introducing my child to it. trying to 'decorate' pap by adding things like crayfish, etc to it buttresses the fact that pap is nothing but complex cab which is only used to 'fill up' a child's tummy #myopinion |
mbula:Fantastic. this is what i was expecting to read. personally, i would ignore that doctor's diagnois of adeniod and do not agree to any talk of surgery. my son had similar symptons at 4-6 weeks (minus the cold and catarrah) and i took him to see my doctor. he told me that at that age, babies nasal passage and respiratory organs are small and they are still growing, so it is not unusual for some babies to make such funny noises while sleeping. he told me that he would outgrow it. he didnt ask me to do any xray or prescribe antibiotics. true to his words, my baby has outgrown it and he sleeps very quietly and the breathing noises have stopped. in your case, the funny noises might be as a result of the blocked nose. i was told that when babies have a cold, they accumulate mucus at the bridge of their nose/upper respiratory tract. unfortunately, unlike adults, they are unable to voluntarily sneeze or blow their noses to get rid of the mucus. finish the dose of antibiotics and make sure he's well dressed and covered (both night and day - whether the weather is warm or not). before my baby got his cold, my mum kept accusing me that i wasnt dressing him properly and that it was better for a baby to have heat rashes than cold/pneumonia. in retrospect, she was right. the stress involved in dealing with heat rash is nothing compared to the sleepless nights and anxiety thats involved in catering to a child with cold/cough. read my previous post. i listed the home rememdies that worked for my baby regarding cold/blocked nose. |
rita25:What is wrong with the room ![]() can we see the picture of your own room that looks posh and classy? mgbeke like you feeling funky. you can't even spell ''pneumonia''. olodo jati jati ![]() |
Chai. this thread is making me miss my pregnancy days oooo. . . i have very 'fond' memories. i feel like embarking on a second missionary journey ![]() |
tatacherie:hello darling how are you? im wishing you super natural delivery ![]() hian! you want your baby to come early? i actually wanted mine to come at 42 weeks but he came at 40 weeks. ![]() |
nkkystel sexy mama! i love your outfit ![]() you look good for a preggers woman. dont worry, your skin tone will return back |
Newmum15:Yes include Ribena but just a 'dash' to avoid funny poo. That is about a cap full (using the cover of the Ribena bottle)mixed with about 120-125ml of water. |
mbula:1)How long as he had the cough and catarrh? 2)Any fever? 3)Does he feed well? 4)Does he make a "whistle" or "wheezing" or uncomfortable "snoring" noise while sleeping especially at night? 5)Any improvements with the antibiotics? 6)As he's 3 months old, there are OTC cough syrups he can take. Have you tried any? If yes, any improvements? 7) have you tried elevating his head at night using pillows? |
contactmorak:What else is there to read ? This is how you guys kill your blogs by trying to lure readers using false info. |
okhionkpai:Your wife is right. You have to do the do 4 -5 days before she ovulates, the very day she ovulates and 4-5 days after ovulation in order to maximise her chances. Doggggy style is also the best to ensure the spermmmm is fully deposited. |
rchilee:Hmmm You do not need to give your baby any herbs. You know what you went through so you have to stand your ground. Babies need absolutely no herbs. Don't forget that their organs are very fragile at this stage (and in your case your baby was born few weeks earlier than your EDD). I honestly do not understand why people think it's okay to give a perfectly okay baby herbs and antibiotics to drink What's the benefit of bathing the babies with herbs? absolutely none! Will it make the babies skin repellent to mosquitos If anything, it can cause harm to a baby's sensitive skin. If some babies react well to herbs, it doesn't mean there are a billion other babies that won't. Each individual/baby is unique. Regarding lactation, why not supplement with formula till you get a swing of breastfeeding/your milk flow improves? Why would you allow your baby's sugar level to drop? Is the desire to do EBF more important than your babies health? It's better to supplement with formula for the first few weeks and have a healthy, happy baby than to struggle with breastfeeding and have a malnourished child. To help with your milk flow, try and drink lots and lots of pap with milk. It really helps. For colic (if you are really sure that's what your baby is experiencing and not hunger as some mums confuse the cries of an underfed baby with colic), get the drug called infacol. Regarding feeding, at this stage, for the first few weeks feeding on demand and then you can work out how often your baby feeds and the intervals in between and then have a routine. However, feeding on demand is still the best as babies are constantly changing as they grow. Today, they want to be fed every hour, two days later, it maybe every 3 hours and there are times they would have a long nap of 4-5 hours and not wake up to feed. |
ayobarmy:Yes, you can. Is she feeding well? If not, take her to see the pediatrician. If she's feeding well, give her paracetamol for the temperature and if it doesn't subside, take her to the hospital. |
NoQualms1:I found out that the following home remedies worked for me when my son had a cold/brochitis: 1) silver bird diluted with coconut oil and applied on the scalp 2) warm bath every morning and night. Use a towel with warm water "to press" his chest and back 3) apply robb to chest, back, sides and feet. Do NOT apply robb on his nose. 4)wear socks on his feet 5)lots of warm fluids (if you are not EBF) 6) every time he sneezes and there's mucus, suck it out immediately using either your mouth or a nasal aspirator. You need to get rid of any mucus in the body. 7) if there's dried mucus in his nose, using a towel soaked in warm water, use it "to press" his nose and the bridge of his nose and allow him inhale the steam from the towel allow him inhale steam. Either from running the shower and placing him in the bathroom or inhaling steam from water in a bowl (you can put robb and little drops of silver bird in the hot water and allow him inhale a little.9)if you can get "olbas oil" ( it's similar to silver bird), apply few drop at the edge of your baby's cot at night so that he can inhale it. arihodo, you can also try these home remedies. My son was always congested at night and fine during the day. After repeated visits to the hospital, wasting money on a humidifier and a prescription of antibiotics that did nothing, I did everything listed above and now he's okay. He's no longer congested and no more restless nights with uncomfortable breathing. Please stay off saline nasal sprays. I found out that it made his congestion actually worse and his breathing very laboured. |
Arihodo:Hmm. What are you using at the moment? Do you use any saline nasal spray? |
Beryl15: ![]() Wearing mittens work. You just need to be consistent with it. I made sure he wore them Monday to Friday and anytime we went out (obviously because of the cold weather). At a point my son wasn't just sucking one finger but three at the same time. Nobody told me before I got 'em mittens out. ![]() |
adejoke2348:In my own opinion, yes. The earlier the better. I wore hand mittens for my son everyday when I noticed he was sucking his fingers often at 3 months. Anytime the mittens were off and he had fingers in his mouth, I always removed them. Now, he's 4 months and he has stopped. He no longer wears the mittens. ![]() |
favoredgal:no discharge for me panties just made me utterly uncomfortable. besides, by the 8th, 9th month, to bend to wear jeans or leggings was a nightmare. thank God it ws during summer. i didnt have to worry about wearing tights and all dem thermal wear. |

modath:Modath dear. just seeing your mention? quarrel ke |
Tequilah:Are you minding the bigot? he wants to blame the fires on yorubas and claim we are attacking SE and SS businesses. mumu like him ! |
mitchyy:pregnacare must be taken on FULL stomach to avoid any reactions. some mothers do not know this. so chop belleful and then take it ![]() |

seriously counting down to EDD now 17th Jan. May it end in praise for us all
allow him inhale steam. Either from running the shower and placing him in the bathroom or inhaling steam from water in a bowl (you can put robb and little drops of silver bird in the hot water and allow him inhale a little.
