London – A Nigerian entrepreneur has appeared on Dragon’s Den, a reality television programme in which budding entrepreneurs get three minutes to pitch their business ideas to five multi-millionaires willing to invest their own cash. The eloquent young man who introduced himself as Pastor Jonah, wanted two hundred and fifty thousand pounds to start a new Pentecostal church, and promised returns of 500% within the first three years. Producers of the series described the recently filmed episode as featuring the most incredible idea ever brought to the show. They said of the Nigerian entrepreneur, “He was very confident and very smartly dressed in an Armani suit. He was charismatic and extremely knowledgeable of the Bible, and he appeared to have really done his research.” His opening line was, “Brothers and sister, the Lord has brought me here today to tell you that there is no business like church business.” In the episode which will air next season, the entrepreneur defends his business case by presenting data gathered from churches in Nigeria where he plans to setup his own church. In a tense moment when he is being grilled by Theo Paphitis, he asks the Dragons a rhetorical question, “How many of you own private jets?” “You don’t want to miss this one,” a member of the production crew told us. She however declined to comment on the outcome of the pitch, saying instead, “Let’s just say, the Dragons know a good investment when they see one.” Link is http://hitmagazine.org/?p=481
Actually, this got me laughing |
macjive01:I think you got it wrong on the appointment of the Army Chief. Is there anything wrong for a professional soldier to keep quiet and do his job instead of making senseless press conferences? You are mistaken if you think Nigeria and Nigerians give a f****k about what happens to that part of Nigeria. I know the dredging wasnt cancelled, the reference you put up there is old. Before you say I support him, I am very neutral in this case. I dnt support a coup plotter either. |

Vincent Enyeama has exclusively told KickOffNigeria.com that he has reached no agreement to join Lille OSC. Media reports emerged during the week that the goalkeeper had agreed to join the French club, but Enyeama said that while contact had been made, the reports are untrue. "We have been in contact, but Lille are one of several clubs we are discussing with," he says. "No agreement has been reached. They made me a very good offer, but there are other offers too." Those 'other offers' are said to be from at least one top club each from England, Spain and Holland. Enyeama declined to name the clubs but said his destination would be decided within three to four weeks. "Right now, my focus is Hapoel, but in the next three to four weeks, the decision will be made." He also ruled out the possibility of playing for a battling club. "I don't want to go to a club that is struggling. I want to play where I can compete for titles because I am a winner and I have won trophies in most of my club career." http://www.kickoff.com/news/20704/enyeama-denies-lille-move.php

Commonwealth lightwelter weight boxing champion, Olusegun Akose has revealed that the major prolem with the sport in the country is lack of competitions for the amateur boxers and lack of promotional fights for the professional boxers, blaming the situation on the selfishness of those who want to make money at all cost. Speaking with Brilafm.net, Ajose who is preparing for his world elimination fight with Algeria Ali Jeeba later this month stated that he is happy good administrators have taken over at the amateur level and says he expects a change n performance very soon "The problem with boxing is that there is lack of competitions for amateur and promotional fights for proffesionals. A lot of this has occured due to the greediness of TV stations who want the promoter to promote the fight and also want the promoters to pay them to show the fight on TV. "I am very happy that there are now new administrators taking over amateur boxing and i believe with time, they will do the right thing and improve the boxers" he declared http://brila-fm.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5699%3Aajose-outlines-boxing-problems&catid=1%3Alatest-news&Itemid=76

Former Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Association, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi has advised Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia to shun the temptation of giving more spots in his team to home based players as he believes that only the experienced ones should be in the national team. Ogunjobi, who was in a chat with Brila FM.net further charged Sia One on the need to make his team selection without bias as Nigeria seek to defeat Ethiopia in order to get its Africa Cup of Nations campaign back on track "As far as I am concerned, coach Siasia is equal to the task. I an only advicing him to take it slow and there should not be any sentiment, he should select them based on merit. The match against Ethiopia is a match that we just have to win at home and I am sure and believe that with all hands on deck, Nigeria will scale through”. “Having more home based players in the team and the European based players will widely help the team. Only the experienced ones will surely help the team, but the thing is it just has to be gradual” he ended. http://brila-fm.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5700%3Aogunjobi-eagles-need-experience&catid=1%3Alatest-news&Itemid=76 [img][/img]

BY SIMON EBEGBULEM IRKED by the assault meted out on his son, Prince Ekpen Erediauwa, by the Chairman of the Edo State Task Force Committee on the Vandalization of Pipeline and also the youth leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Edo State, Mr Osakpanwa Eriyo, the Benin monarch, Oba Erediauwa, yesterday, placed a curse on the alleged culprit after describing the action as a taboo in Benin Kingdom. PROTEST: Chiefs and elders of Benin placing curses on the Chairman of the Taskforce Committee on the Vandalisation of Pipelines, over his alleged assault on the Oba of Benin's son, at the Oba's Palace, in Benin City, yesterday. Photo by Barnabas Uzosike. This came as thousands of youths, dressed in red attire, market women and royal family members, protested round Benin City, yesterday, demanding for the banishment of Eriyo from the kingdom, explaining that assaulting a Prince of the kingdom was sacrilegious, and capital punishment should be meted on him. Meanwhile, the Edo State government, in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Peter Okhiria, yesterday, announced the suspension of Mr Eriyo as Chairman of the Anti-Pipeline Vandalization Committee, adding “all contracts in respect of revenue collection in Oredo Local Government Area are also hereby suspended.” See more photos here It will be recalled that Eriyo, who also doubles as the Chairman Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, Edo State chapter, had weekend, assaulted the Transition Committee Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area of the state, Prince Erediauwa during a meeting of the leadership of the ACN in Oredo council. But Osakpanwa had denied that he assaulted the Prince in a statement. Reacting swiftly, the Oba’s chiefs, led by the Iyase of Benin, Chief Sam Igbe; the Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri; Obasogie of Benin Kingdom, Chief Eduwor Ekhator and the entire palace chiefs, went round the city, with pots of charms and placed curse on Osakpanwa after he was declared an enemy of the Oba. In a statement by the Chairman, Peace and Conflict Resolution in the Oba’s Palace, Chief Eduwor Ekhator, it said “no one can demystify the monarchical value of the Benin Royal Palace of the Oba. Attempt by any person or persons to destroy the long existing peace and unity of the Benin will be checked with rebuked condemnation. “The attempt on the Benin Prince was a demonstration of recklessness and lack of respect for a constituted authority. It is highly provocative, sacrilegious and unacceptable and thereby deserves total condemnation by every Edo son and daughter both at home and in the Diaspora. However, the palace of the Oba advises all sympathizers to obey the rule of law,” it added. Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/03/assault-benin-monarch-curses-task-force-chief/ [img][/img]

jason123:How can any sensible Nation stamp out corruption when you dont have freedom of speech? Why would Buhari over throw a democratic elected government and impose an authoritarian rule. There is nothing different in Buhari, Abacha and IBB. Cos You can as well say we should give IBB a second chance because he promised to put out corruption. You cant say you have the freedom when you got khaki men(in civilian attire) in power esp. in Africa. Also, I am so disappointed in Bakare 'cos He swallowed his vomit. None of the aspirants and their godfathers are in the good books of Nigeria.
