You know any craftsman, artisan (welder, carpenter, tailor, painter) who cannot read? Tell him or her to call 08098434376. We teach to read in 3 months. GREFLead Consult |
Kgdavid:Most people get the reasoning upside down. People steal and collect bribes and extort PRIMARILY because they are greedy and not because of meagre salaries. Senators collect huge pay, why do they steal? Greed. Do you know how much Generals in the army earn, yet some of them stole money for arms purchase. The list goes on and on. If I am in the police or any employment for that matter, if my pay is too small for me I'll quit. You may ask what will my family eat? Of course we will eat something else! Even in that telecoms firm, if you are sacked, what will you eat? material resources for life do not come only through one channel. But a person who prefers money to a good name won't see other opportunities and he will continue in sharp practices (until EFCC nab am!). |
freeze001:My friend talk is cheap! By time he has 'strengthened' the institutions it would be Jan 2018, and some wailers ll campaign against him that he did not prosecute looters. I think PMB is starting to do something despite the terrible terrain. Do you how much obstacles the govt is facing from the very kwarupt senate? Has the govt not sent a new anti money laundering bill? What has the NASS done about it. How does one strengthen institutions? is it not through laws? Or do you suppose it is by executive fiat? What about the bribe taking judges? Will he kill them? The road to a less corrupt Nigeria is very difficult but this admin is making some inroads. |
There is something called moral authority and Aribosala has little of it on the matter at hand. While Sagay and Oby didn't handle the issues well and made improper comments about the students, Aribisala made it looks as if the govt is not fighting corruption. But he is trying to deceive! CBN recruitment saga is bad. Taken. But this government has achieved many plus. * continuous decimation of BH *process of recovery of looted funds abroad *prosecution of Arms loot, Dasuki, Badeh, etc * improving Nigeria international image * investigating the manslaughter during Immigration recruitment * There is a sense of State sovereignty now, unlike when anybody can make reckless claims and get away with it.(Tompolo , Dokubo, Shiite leader, Nnamdi KANU, etc) Things the govt must do urgently: *Address fuel scarcity *Fight corruption in Police * Unemployment reduction * Fulani murders in Benue If there were an election between PMB and GEJ today, who do you think would win? The answer is clear: P**. |
omohayek:Your comment is extremely intelligent! |
Chanchit:You see, you did that because you were a child. Hope you've grown up now- now offense intended. |
linearity:Probably GEJ thought like you are thinking, and that is why we voted him out. Now we have a president and a FEC who think strategically. The wiser among a people should lead. Gbam! |
BUTCHCASSIDY:Not everyone will keep their heads in one small corner and play it safe and low. That your begging won't work for most people. It is unfortunate that he/she died but life is a risk. |
Bede2u:I think so many of us are hypocrites. So because PMB becomes president all his relations must be unemployed and sacked from all govt jobs? Bringing in PMB's nephew into this argument is cheap mischief. We are sure PMB had no hand in the recruitment because his arch political enemies where in govt then. If the president is to wade into the matter , which I think is proper, it should never be because his nephew is affected but based on principle. |
Thanks Op.
What if I want to extract a 10min audio in the the middle of the video.
How do I do that? |
Haaa! The post is long but very well written. You definitely have some views that are valid. We cannot or should not be content with graduates making Chin chin, etc(You must have studied engineering; so many reference to engineering). Value creation must move to another level! But entrepreneurship is not only producing goods. I know you didn't say outrightly it is only about manufacturing goods but you seem to deemphasize the other areas of entrepreneurship. Look at our music industry. Those guys are doing extraordinary well. They are creating economic value(unfortunately not moral value!) Look my point is that no matter how behind in economic / technological development the realities of living expenses is remorseless. Now that we as a nation refused to invest well in education people cannot wait till investment in technology and engineering to start making a living. Your foresight is superb. That is what we should be aiming towards. Your write up is calling us to that destination but we have to get something doing before then. It is like someone who wants to increase his agric output so much that he planted ALL the seeds he has. He is now left hungry and destitute with nothing to eat. Yes his huge harvest is 5 months' time but if he is not careful he may die of hunger before the harvest comes. |
.....Innovative. |
abumeinben:If you didn't jump into conclusion without reading the report through, you would have understood the connexion. But just to answer you. Terrorists use unregistered sims to communicate. And MTN reluctance to enforce registration help the communication of terror. |
kilode100:I was curious of the claim so I checked. You are wrong. She was born 1971(45yrs) and married 1989. 1989-1971 is 18yrs. So she was 18 when she wedded PMB. Unless you are insinuating that Baba impregnated her before marriage. Please let us check facts before we tarnish people's image. God save you say no be 1984 of Decree 4 we dey. You for don hear am. Lol! |
Simply Excellent! |
Walexz02:. A very wise contribution! People don't understand that a person is more important than money. Most comments are of the view that as far money is gotten to hell with dignity and self worth. Imagine a person even asked to save as much as he can while there SO THAT he can start dishing out the insults when he owns his own business. My dear, I have a few questions to ask you: 1. Does this boss insult every other person in your grade level? 2. If No, have sat down to identify the reason(s) for the insults? 3. Have you tried to tell him/her that the way she talks to you is not palatable to you? Even if there is a weakness or incompetence on your part, resorting to insults is SO SO WRONG. It just shows his/her lack of leadership capacity. You may need guidance or even proper sanctions not insults. If you are matured enough(note that we are all maturing) you may even feel sorry for the boss. He might have been regularly abused by his former bosses or even parents. So she feels that is the normal way to interact. My advise? stay there until you feel you can't take it anymore or endure it until you move to another dept or so. Bottom line: If you decide to leave because you can't take the insult anymore, it is not necessarily a wrong step. |
Jamean:I agree with you on many things you wrote about. However as many people have said if she knew she couldn't fulfil the rules by the church she wanted to get married in she should not have gone their. Traditional marriage qualifies them for sexual relationship but gives them little legal standing. So in order to get govt marriage certificate, it is either Church wedding or registry wedding. In our society, church weddings have more honour than registry wedding. So if she wanted the honour of Church wedding she needed to be without child. |
Most married men have such experiences. The woman's brain seems not to readily pick some kinds of knowledge or learning. But that's why you are her hubby. Calmly(even though may be hard) explain what she didn't know. You will be surprised how much she will appreciate you for telling her! You would think it's one great knowledge. May be all these guys saying your wife is illiterate have been hard on their wives in the past for asking a 'silly question' so the poor ladies don't ask them questions that may be silly. They may ask Mr Deji-a coworker. |
totorimi:So unless she speaks good English the clothes won't fit her or what. And who says she has not started learning how to communicate well in English. Think outside the box. one can make progress without necessarily speaking Queen's English. No offence. But your post has errors in it too! |
ugotex85:No. That definition is wrong. This because a marriage is what you make out of it. Some marriages are indeed like the public toilet but some are really working beautifully. Whatever becomes of your marriage depends first on you, then secondly your spouse. Not the other way round. If you are a man, are matured enough in mind to be that lady's husband? Will she find in you a support that her parents used to be to her? Or you will be her problem? If you are a woman, are you ready to support and help that man? If for whatever reason you can't respect him DON'T marry him. Mine is working so beautifully despite the challenges we have faced and the ones that lie ahead. |
youmour:Don't you know about the fall in oil price? Meanwhile let me give you an analogy: Let us say you stay with your big brother who has been given all the funds for your university education. He has a job but things start to get tough financially. Rather than work harder or look for money elsewhere, he starts to take from the education trust. You don't know where money is coming from but all you can see is that he gives you money for clothes and gadgets and all. Sometime later you moved to another big brother. All the remaining education funds have been transferred to the new brother. He sees that as things stand the money left won't be enough for your university education. He doesn't give you all the stuff the other brother used to give you. Rather he insists that you manage. You begin to wish you were with the former brother. So among the two, who really has your interest at heart? That is my answer to your question. |
playdude:Without any prejudice, T.A Orji studied in UI. |
Olusola Aladejebi wrote: How pathetic, how disastrous if having walked 8km into the Sahara, I find out that the bottles in my backpack contain oil rather than water! I’ll most certainly be filled with despair. I have reflected deeply the role of higher education (especially in Nigeria). I have also read views of profound thinkers across the globe on the role of the universities. I therefore conclude that many are pursuing an education of illusion. The picture of my hypothetical foray into the desert is an apt metaphor for the reality ahead of some people. Education, be it basic, secondary or tertiary, is aimed at learning. Impartation of relevant knowledge is, or ought to be, the most fundamental objective of any school system. To the degree it deviates from this objective, it is to that degree that the school system loses relevance. A test for any educational system is: if all students and parents are made to understand that no certificates will be given at the expiration of the course of study, how many students will remain? I dare say less than 20%. There is clearly an undue value placed on higher education, especially postgraduate study, at the expense of acquiring useful, creative knowledge. ‘Will you do masters’ has now been replaced by ‘when will you go for your masters?’ Such talk only fuels the rabid desire for an unthinking master’s degree. There exists this spurious idea that with a master’s in hand the gates of success will open to you more quickly than when you hadn’t. Holders of such idea do not yet know that the gates of success open to the man or woman with relevant knowledge and skill regardless of where he got them or where he did not. It is noteworthy that one of the most important ‘exports’ of U. K to Nigeria is now the Master’s Degree. All over the web space you find advertisements for university upon university. They seem to understand that we place an inordinate value on a 2nd Degree. In a declining European economy they cash in quickly on our thinking handicap. Time published in 2010 the list of the most successful college drop outs. Some on the list include Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zukerberg, Frank Lloyd Wright and James Cameron. Dropping out of college to pursue a passion and create value is not a recent phenomenon. Frank Lloyd Wright for instance dropped out of University of Wisconsin—Madison in 1886! to become America’s most celebrated Architect. Gone are the days when the universities held the only key to knowledge. The information revolution has now provided access to knowledge on anything through the internet. My point is not whether people drop out of university or whether they continue to post graduate study. Any idiot can drop out of school as well as any idiot can finish school. If your unique contribution will be realized by an extended stay in the university, please stay on. But never just continue to gather certificates as if they are ends in themselves. Delete the mind-set: now that I have this certificate, I can now be successful. Rather the mind-set should be: now that I have detected the unique contribution I will make in this life, I will seek relevant knowledge that will help in this quest. In closing, Peter Thiel, an entrepreneur and billionaire, expressed the view that, ‘although higher education is definitely useful for some career paths (medicine, engineering, etc.) and people learn very valuable things in the university, there are many career paths, such as entrepreneurship, for which higher education is not useful and simply leads them to waste years they may have been doing something more productive’. I am convinced that the most creative among us will never be the ideal university student. They will find school uncomfortable for their ideas. They may find lecturers speaking a different language from the one in their hearts. Three things may happen to these most gifted ones. Some may try hard to finish schooling while keeping the fire of their new creative ideas burning. Some may detect that their continued stay in the university will drown that pure, fresh creativity growing in the hearts and hence escape for their lives! (Those on the TIME’s list above obviously thought so)Some others unfortunately because they didn’t develop the courage to step out allowed the old stuff to kill their unique creativity. Sometimes to think outside the box, you have to step outside the box (university). Even if you are not one of the most gifted among us, you should not have the illusion that unless the university certifies you, there can be no excellence for you! |
It seems razor blade is not on the list. Tiger (made in Czech). Nigerians must have imported 100 billion units of the blade since they began production! |
Obinna Chima The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Tuesday officially stopped the sale of dollars for a list of 40 items as it seeks to reduce pressure on the naira as well as preserve the country’s external reserves. These items include rice, cement, margarine, palm kernel/palm oil products/vegetable oil, meat and processed meat products, vegetable and processed vegetable products, poultry –chicken, eggs, turkey - private airplanes/jet, Indian Incense, tinned fish in sauce - Geisha/Sardines, cold roiled steel sheet and galvanised steel sheets. Others are roofing sheets, wheel barrows, head pans, metal boxes and containers, enamelware, steel drums, steel pipes, wires, rods, wire mesh, steel nails, security and razor wire, wood particles boards and panels, wood fiber board and panels, plywood boards and wooden doors. In addition, sourcing of forex for the importation of toothpicks, glass and glassware, kitchen utensils, tables, textiles, woven fabrics, clothes, plastic and rubber products, soap and cosmetic, tomatoes/ tomato paste and Eurobond/foreign currency bond/share purchase. The central bank disclosed this in a circular signed by its Director, Trade and Exchange Department, Mr. Olakanmi Gbadamosi, which was posted on its website last night. It explained that: ”These items are not banned, thus importers desirous of importing these items shall do so using their own funds without any recourse to the Nigerian forex market.” It advised all authorised dealers to ensure strict compliance with the directive. “In the continuing effort to sustain the stability of the forex market and ensure the efficient utilisation of forex and the derivation of optimum benefits from goods and service imported into the country, it has become imperative to exclude importers of some goods and services from accessing foreign exchange at the Nigerian foreign exchange market to encourage local production. “The implementation of the policy will help conserve forex reserves as well as facilitate the resuscitation of domestic industries and improve employment generation,” it added. |
"Ferdral government has said it will spend zero amounts in petroleum subsidy in 2016 and would not remove the subsidy while in periods of high oil prices, ....." I don't understand this. It seems contradictory. The reporter didn't do a good job. |
jpphilips:Very solid analysis |
Topeakintola:As much as I am a fan of lean government and hence reduced overhead the huge government means more employment to people. I know that is not the best we can come up with, it has some benefits at least! Lol. |
SmartMugu:Must you comment without reading? Habaa! |
All nairalanders do not qualify. You are not too poor. You have a smart phone and data. |
airsaylongcon:What is special about N250 to $1? 250 a magic number? If you want naira to fall, then let it fall. If you want its value maintained forcedly, let it be. |
DivineAgatha121:So make whatsapp con dey update am for you abi? Naija people. Dem give una free app, you still want them to 'buy' data for you! DivineAgatha121:So make whatsapp con dey update am for you abi? Naija people. Dem give una free app, you still want them to 'buy' data for you! |

everyone worship money and that's why our society is deteriorating
how come when they were looting naija the country was doing okay and the naira was strong but now that we are fighting corruption things are getting out of hand.
