Whistleblower : noun(used especially in newspapers) a person who informs people in authority or the public that the company they work for is doing something wrong or illegal. Mr Kolade, you should have made this information known, while you were still in service of the committee Mr. Kolade, you developed itchy fingers while still in the committee, and were then compelled to resign, but the government out of respect for your long meritorious service to the nation, kept it from the public. But now Mr Kolade you are abusing that privilege. |
What's the focal point behind this thread. Marilyn Ogar has been retired and the hue and cry that emanated from it has gone down. What Ogar did, Lawal Daura is doing as we speak. The DSS under GEJ stormed APC's computer office, without the law on their side, the DSS, under this current dispensation stormed the Akwa Ibom state house without a warrant. So what is the difference. it's public knowledge, that whatever government is in power, controls the instruments of security available to them. This will be so, until there are reforms in the laws that created them. |
This is a President, who actually believes that he can deceive and confuse the populace. Everyone knows about the over -bureaucratic process used by the CCB to frustrate interested parties from seeking viable information about the financial status of public officials. The only way for the public to get information about the financial status of a public official, is straight from the horses mouth. When Yaradua did his, there was no public aversion to his. If he is really sincere, about allowing transparency in his government, then he should be able to do this simple task. Just show the asset declaration form and also include that of your spouse, simple as ABC. Also, this his attitude of governing from foreign lands, has to stop. In the US, he told us for the first time, that he would release his ministerial list in September. In Ghana now, he is talking about asset declaration, and ministerial lists. Mr. President, make your statements here, and not in other countries. |
abdul4new:Compare it with Reno Omikri's account of the first 100 days of GEJ and you will see the difference. In GEJ's first 100 days, he reviewed the payment of youthcorpers from paltry sum of 9000Naira upward to a moderate sum of 19, 500 Naira. PMB, on the other hand, visited the NYSC, and aside discussing a futuristic unrealistic alternative programme for graduates, did nothing to impact in the lives of the corpers. I advise you, research on the origin and idea behind the 100 days mark, and am sure you will be able to see, of the two, which was truly worthy of being called a 100 days. |
The level of infrastructural development was second to none under the meritorious service of the GEJ administration. Is it roads, they built 100's, is it the railway, they revamped the sector. What of power, a miracle was achieved. The Ebola virus, unfortunately knocked at our doorstep, they defeated it without breaking a sweat. In Agriculture, they ended a never ending indomitable fertilizer mafia. They were tested in the oil refineries puzzle, but like Alexander the great, he cut through the knot with just one stroke. This and many more monumental achievements make the TRANSFORMER GEJ the man to beat. The new iron man, PMB, over to you. But if you fail or perform below the standards that we are already accustomed to because of the giant strides made by your predecessor. Then you can consider yourself a disgrace to your wife, children and entire household. |
Its only in this our dear country, that you will see an old man want to finish eating the pot of soup with you, even down to licking what's left in the innermost part of the pot, which is a ritual for children. And if you there refuse him this selfish request, he will wash his hands and with his teeth stained with the colour of the soup, he will tell your relatives that he only took one spoonful, because the soup was bitter. Mr Kolade, what makes someone a whistleblower, is if he informs the media and people of the nefarious activities of the organization he is a part of, when he is still a part of the organization, not after. Also, it won't have been too much of a task to show DOCUMENTATIVE evidence of all the corrupt practices that drove you to resign from the commission. The most likely thing that happened is that you were forced to resign when the government noticed you were developing KLEPTOMANIAC tendencies with your position, but out of respect for your position in the society, kept it quiet. A privilege which you have now chosen to abuse. |
citizenY:Do you have power over in your abode. If you do, then yes they set the trail for success. |
YouthsPC0:Don't fret over them. They don't understand the concept: PUBLIC SERVANT. Perhaps they should research on the Hillary Clinton email saga. This people want rulers and not leaders, hence why they fail to question them when they err. The problem with Femi and his boss is that they actually believe that they can live off GEJ's development and reform policies. Be it TAM, Electricity reform, TSA or every function of government, they fail to see the need for consolidating and improving on these laudable policies. Hence the nonstop Jamboree and the ridiculous assertion by the Executive on the 100 days debate. Despite the dire economic strait we are currently facing, they have chosen to rely on the golden eggs that were laid by NOI and GEJ. Well, no problem, afterall next year will soon be at the door. We will see what new tale they will spin then. |
docadams:I presented you with some questions and conjectures and you ended up in a quagmire. FYI: Least is the proper word to be used in that sentence, not list Eg: That is the LEAST of his problems. |
docadams:What is the quota of petroleum traded between the US and Angola. What is the balance of trade like. Didn't you see the part where I indicated the deal being a loss for us if it sails through. How much or less would Angola's quota be, when Iran joins the equation. |
Allegations and Promises * We will * We shall * In the fullness of time * Empty treasury * Four figure table * 6 billion dollars * 9 billion dollars * 600 million dollars railway heist * oil swap deals * Labaran Maku and buried farm money * El rufai and 420 billion * Augean stable * Border apprehension of currency trafficker * TSA illegality Convictions: 0 |
This is a big fat lie. The US reduced their quota of oil purchases with us not because of their squabble with the GEJ administration, but because of their attraction towards shale oil and the low cost of fracking. Also, with the likelihood of the Iran Nuclear deal, the US is likely to resume oil deals with Iran. Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Iraq are still major partners as well. So, where do we fit into this complicated Menage a trois. The idea of a renewed oil trade pact with the US is flawed, because, if all this conjectures don't come into play, and we actually do start selling oil to the States, it would actually be a loss to us. Our focus should be on emerging markets, and not a confused unstable world power that is about to experience a change in leadership |
At the end of four years, the city of Port Harcourt will be able to boast of a state of the art road network, improvement in health care facilities, an improved interactive education system, judicial reforms and an improvement in the security situation in the state. But instead of congratulating the governor for his yeoman service and even enquiring from him how he was able to accomplish the feat in the midst of insufficient resources, the APC will change their tune to "THE STATE OF RIVERS IS IN DEBT EVEN WITH THE 13% STATE DERIVATION" |
meeklocs:And Rev. King is the new Minister for information and national orientation. You guys, will never learn. Till this moment, you don't yet know what soup, you are drinking, even after licking the spoon. |
sammyj:To err is human. The PDP publicity secretary realising his folly, owned up and made a formal apology. It takes great courage and maturity to do that. Can APC, do the same, if the shoe is on the other foot. |
danjumakolo:The actions of an investor is based on his ROI: return on investment. In pure economic terms this means the way you consider profit in relation to capital invested. Back in my school days, it was taught to us as the Rate of return on investment. If the ROI is high, then the investment gains compare favorably to investment cost. The ROI of a investor in relation to this market would be low, because the economic direction is unclear. The fact that 3 months into the new government's tenure, and still no policy direction is scary to any investor. The investors are not wary of the market because of the anti-corruption campaign, but because of the incompetence and lack of focus by the current government PS: The SEC does not work in the way you indicated. I recommend you purchase a book on financial institutions. |
divinehand2003:The level of corruption being engaged in by civil servants and even the government, on its own is monumental. This report, is like the others, fictitious and bogus. They claim that the crude oil swap deal was marred with irregularities. But in actual reality, it was a notable idea, which got derailed as all policies that are implemented in Nigeria. Until, this government, redirects itself from Paparazzi and e-governance, we will continue to see large digits being displayed on newspapers, while the crooked businesses continue in reality. You should pay a visit to immigration, healthcare centres, VIO's, Aaegis, FCDA and a host of other institutions, you will be disgusted with the reborn corrupt practices being perpetuated by the staff of such bodies. |
All we see, on the pages of newspapers from day to day are fictious reports of financial impropriety cases being filed against X and O. We don't ever see anyone being docked and officially charged for corruption. When will this government, realise that you can not make giant strides in governance on the pages of newspapers. When will they sit down and start planning strategically how to bring to Nigerians the Eldorado government, they promised prior to the elections. When, how and who will be the questions that will plague them, till the month of March 2019. Whether or not they like it, this questions won't go away. |
I laugh in Swahili, anytime I see an ardent APC supporter or party member, who claims that the so called Leadership(rulership) has sanitized the nation and has made the enforcement of law a norm. In every public institution, it is still business as usual, or worse, incivility has become the order of the day. In three months, the APC has turned the nation's civil service into a temple of Sodom and Gomorrah. Institutions that once were at least said to be a bit above average in terms of performance and accountability have now become Ground Zero. The Perm.Secs have now become Demigods, with the unflinching power to do as they please. Law enforcement has become a cash and carry business, with the people as the Human Cattle of the various security agencies. Even politicians now pay through their nose, for their cases to be swept under the rug. The various health care centres are slowly returning to the days of Moribund and i-don't-care-attitude. With all this, and the Lackadaisical approach of the government, how in God's name do you now expect the drivers of trailers who have always held the Lagos state government at the jugular, to respect the law handed down to them by a PUPPET TOOTHLESS POODLE. I weep for Nigeria, because the next three years-if the President doesn't sit up, and reintroduce sanity to the nation- will be like an eternity in HELL. |
The Akwa Ibom government, should not only stop at Litigation, but also use the influence of the Senate Minority leader, who happens to be their ex-govenor, to convince the Senate leadership into calling the DSS to the House for a public enquiry. At the enquiry, the DSS head, who must be present, should be interrogated seriously, so as to get to the source of the bogus petition and who gave the order for the raid to be conducted. They have to squeeze out of him, a mandatory promise, to never neglect the statutes of the House whenever they receive another petition that asks them to repeat this draconian incident. This is what must be done, to finally bell the cat known as the new DSS. |
The administration of GEJ was a collective government, which not only kept to the principle of federal character in the selection of government officials out of respect of the constitution, but also believed in sourcing intelligent and skilled hands from the 6 Geopolitical zones because of the PDP's belief in the capability of the Union called Nigeria. The past administration being an idealist one trusted in the survival of the union, and so put the country's development above personal interest and so decided to trust in Nigeria, thereby foregoing any ethnic or religious interests. And even, with the dismerits that came out of it, the PDP, if given the chance once more, will still tow the same path. This is so, because Nigeria comprises of the North, South, East and West and not what one region can achieve alone, no matter how monumental the gains may be. Join us in 2019, as we, once more will undertake the joint task of REBOOTING OUR DEMOCRACY. |
ijebujazz:Maybe you need a class in comprehension. I never made any aspersion to the issue of federal character in this post. I am simply treating the post from the angle of the OP's assertion that this employees, stated in the post failed in effectively discharging their duties in reinvigorating the power sector. Don't put the cart before the horse. |
The 100 days mark was created and first implemented by Franklin Roosevelt, President of the United states, from 1933-1945, so as to correct the negative inactivity of the Herbert Hoover administration which led to the Great Depression. He did this by improving the communication channels between the Government and the people, by implementing social oriented policies that favoured the lives of the people over the interests of the big monopolistic firms which had been responsible for the taming and gaging of the Hoover administration. The 100 days programme was instrumental in garnering the support of the people in the war years, but was discontinued after the war, but was later implemented in 1961. In the history of our democracy, ever since the return to civilian leadership, the 100 days mark has always been a sort of ritual between the government and the electorate. It was done by all the PDP governments and even the AC and ANPP state governments. So it makes no sense to pretend the practice has been jettisoned from our democracy, when it has been framed in our minds as part and parcel of governance. Whether or not the APC government recognises it, they have been put on the measurable scales by the electorate and scored. The argument can be compared to a student who is not prepared for an examination, like Jamb and then hopes the date of the examination will be extended, without preparing for it in the near or distant future. At the end of the day, he has no say in when and how he will be scored, only the examiner has that power. We, the people are the examiners. http://www.shmoop.com/franklin-d-roosevelt-fdr/first-100-days.html http://www.thetrentonline.com/reno-omokri-24-things-jonathan-did-in-his-first-100-days/ |

And between this homogenous people, we got the unbundling of the moribund and bureaucratic public electricity company formally known as PHCN. Their actions led to the relatively stable power supply you currently enjoy, but credit to a pathetic rhetoric called BODYLANGUAGE. That says a lot about the ethnicity of this people. |
danjumakolo:To be honest, I can't put a handle on what you are saying. The past administration created a conducive business atmosphere for foreign investors, but not at the expense of the local industries. The government ensured their survival admist foreign competition, with the implementation of the Local content bill, which helped protect the share of the local markets according to the infant industry argument. This government, on the other hand is not encouraging foreign investors, and also not protecting the local industries. The only direction, you can phantom from the governments actions are the draconian measures implemented to monopolize the various markets in the nation into the hands of a few cronies and friends. This sort of practice, was also done under the administration of the late dictator Gen. Abacha. The TSA argument is a funny and deceitful attempt by the APC to rewrite history. The operation of multiple accounts was started 48years ago and was still in operation under his watch in his first stint in power, but was only put to a stop under the dispensation of GEJ. The facts speak for themselves. Our GDP is in disarray and the impact of foreign investment is at an all time low. You can't turn a pyramid on its head. |
ModiKen:Go and purchase a Monetary economics textbook and a copy of an economic journal on Financial institutions so you can comprehend the impact of SEC, future trading, commodity trading and how the activities in this institutions can change the direction of an economy in the split of a second. The economic situation would have been far worse, if not for the innovation and experience of the CERTIFIED minister, you and your likes, have failed to appreciate. Wait till, PMB appoints his financial minister, and his policies come to a fold. Then you will see the difference. |
According to Prof. Ayobami, live on ChannelsTV, Sunrise Daily, the APC was formed out of the merger of two Authoritarian parties headed by two tyrannical rulers. Hence the reason, for their inability to be ready for governance. They came into government with their autocratic ideals, and so view any form of opposition as problems that should be subdued and quickly exterminated. This sort of ideology, will spawn attacks such as the ignoramus cackhanded putsch that was done in Akwaibom. This is the reality on ground. |
The operation of multiple accounts was started in 1967 under the ignorant swamped government of Yakubu Gowon, continued under the rulership of Murtala and Obasanjo, out of sheer greed, not addressed under the puritanical regime of GMB, helped under the government of Abacha, Abubakar, OBJ, Yaradua and finally put a stop to by the innovative and interactive government of GEJ in Feb 2014. |
What do you expect * When you have an unfriendly business climate in place * When in the process of plugging leakages, you also plugged savings and injections * When you take your eyes of the balance of trade * When you frighten foreign investors with an opaque closed economy perception * When you put in measures that favour monopoly, in the place of free market policies * When you mistake Capital flight for money laundering, thereby scaring off foreign investors * When you write off the impact of Nigerians in the diaspora, who contribute about 40% of foreign investment * When you run the CBN and other financial institutions as a quasi- dictatorial extension * When you are perceived as slow and vindictive to the global economic market * When you increase Government control on the economy, moving from an unseen regulatory hand to an oppressive first party participant Tell me, what do you expect from a disciple of the Abacha opaque doldrum economic days. What did you possibly expect |
ICRMJigawa:ChannelsTV remains the most neutral TV network in this country. The poll does not lie. Right now PMB is still enjoying the massive good will he garnered pre- election. |
If that poll had been conducted two months ago, the President would have come off with a poll of 86%. Everyday, the President's fan base shrinks by a slight margin. What you consider as a plus is actually a testament of his declining popularity. I hope ChannelsTV conduct the poll on a monthly basis. By February next year, he would be at a poll of 51%. That is a fact. |
