According to the publisher, he was on his way to office from Okinni axis moving towards Osogbo before he was rudely stopped by a police officer as at 10:49 am.

Tiamiyu said despite the fact that none of the police officers was on uniform which made it difficult for him to identify them yet he stopped his vehicle and obeyed their instructions.

He asked me to open my boot but the police officer had already opened the door, pulled me out of the car before I could step out of the car to open the boot. He ransacked my vehicle from the driver side to the back seat and disorganised the vehicle, he explained.

The chairman of OOMPAN further disclosed that the police officer hijacked the phone from his trainee who was with him and took his laptop bag. Another officer came down to request for my ID card after I introduced myself to the police officers.

According to Tiamiyu, the police officers made the following statements such as it shall not be well with you and your entire family. I will deal with you today, go and ask your senior journalists. I have dealt with with them. I am from Ogun state, I will tell you I am fortified with every power, you may not last beyond tomorrow.

Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has gone spiritual.

In a post captured by VOICE AIR MEDIA on his social media platforms amidst battle to pick governorship ticket of his party APC in the primaries slated for July 20.

Recall that Ondo state governor, Akeredolu’s Deputy gov, Agboola Ajayi joined the stronger opposition party in the state, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the 2020 governorship election while still serving in his government.

VOICE AIR MEDIA reported earlier that, the governor and wife was tested positive for the deadly covid19 pandemic but later got recovered and tested negative to the virus.

See the post below obtained from his twitter handle...

“O God, have mercy on me, for people are hounding me. My foes attack me all day long.

I am constantly hounded by those who slander me, and many are boldly attacking me.

But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?

What can mere mortals do to me?

They are always twisting what I say; they spend their days plotting to harm me.

They come together to spy on me— watching my every step, eager to kill me.

Don’t let them get away with their wickedness; in your anger, O God, bring them down.

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.

My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side!

I praise God for what he has promised; yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised.

I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?

What can mere mortals do to me?

I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.

For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.” Psalms 56:1‭-‬13 NLT.

HealthOsun SSG, Others Tests Positive For Covid-19 As Total Confirmed Cases Now 127 by Honbright(op): 12:01am On Jul 01, 2020
By Tunde Olorungbotemi

The Government of the State of Osun on Tuesday confirmed that its Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Wole Oyebamiji, has tested positive for Coronavirus.

The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, who made this known through a press statement in Osogbo on Tuesday, also confirmed the discovery of 10 additional cases in the State.

Dr Isamotu was however quick to add that one patient had equally been discharged after testing negative for the virus.

The Commissioner noted that one of the reasons for the sudden rise in the Covid-19 cases in State was largely due to the nonchalant attitude of citizens and residents of the State to laid-down precautionary measures against the spread of the virus.

Isamotu also hinted that there are strong reasons to believe the State now has community transmission around Ilesa axis of the State, warning that unless citizens and residents change their ways, government might be forced to impose another lockdown on the State.

While noting that the 11 new cases were from the contact tracing of previous cases in the State, the Health Commissioner also revealed that with the latest development, the number of confirmed cases in the State has risen to 127 with 74 active cases.

By One Class

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) will hold its 2020 Election/National Convention at Abuja in August 20 – 22nd in a bid to elect new executives to pilot the affairs of the association for another one year.

The communique was signed by Mr Samuel Kappo, NANS Zone D, Coordinator Mohammed Kachinga, Zone A Coordinator, Friday Offongekpe, Zone B coordinator and Mahmud Abubakar, President, National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES).

According to the communique, the election is a “Doctrine of Necessity” as Mr Bamidele Akpan’s tenure has long elapsed and there is need to transit power to new executives.

“The constitution of NANS stipulates one year for every office holder but Bamidele Akpan shall be two years in office by July 9, without any plan to set transition in motion.

“Recall on June 9, as captured by NAN, the Council of Zonal Coordinators issued a 14 days ultimatum to Bamidele Akpan, the NANS President to fix a date for NANS Election/Convention, which yielded no fruit afterwards.

PoliticsStreet Begging Increases In Osun Amid Fresh Lockdown Warning by Honbright(op): 7:57am On Jun 29, 2020
By Tunde Olorungbotemi

Recent findings revealed that there is an increased poverty rate resulting from businesses and jobs facing hard times through this period of a pandemic and also laziness of persons; lack of proper orientation are the major causes for the increase in the rate of street begging in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

On a community tour around February, 2020 before the arrival of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in Osun state and Nigeria, our correspondent who visited Olonkoro street, around UBA bank and MDS around station road in Osogbo metropolis, observed some children between 5, 7 and 10 years, including some adults, particularly women, where moving around, where the UBA bank is located, begging for alms.

Similarly, VOICEAIRMEDIA gathered that between the hours of 9am to 5pm, some teenage girls and middle age women are been found on the street in Osogbo, where most banks are located.

It was learnt that the beggars wander the streets of the banks, waiting for customers going in and out and at the ATM centres, to beg for money.

Reports indicated that some of these teenage girls use hausa dialect to beg for money to ‘chop’. However, few individuals going in and out of the bank either to withdraw or pay in money extend alms to them why some others ignored them.

Following the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic which has propelled both the Federal and Osun state Government to lockdown many places including markets in some weeks back has spread those beggers away to unknown destinations loitering around the state.

Meanwhile, in our recent findings, we discovered that the alarming rate of street begging has increased in the community of Osogbo due to the hardship brought by the virus.

Speaking to a correspondent of VOICEAIRMEDIA, Mr Tunji, a cocacola staff, attributed the rampant street begging to the present hardship being faced in Osun, across the globe and particularly in Nigeria.

”In our state here, the situation is getting worrisome, because our children are at home due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, while economic, social and commercial activities are paralysed.

” Many parents cannot cater for their children anymore and most children have resorted to begging as a means to feed themselves.

“I must tell you that if we return the state or country back to lockdown without the government cushioning the effects, begging will become worst to the extent that it would constitute, nuisance “he stated.

Also speaking, Mr David Johnson, a business man said street begging is much in Osogbo, especially around Odi-olowo where you see adults begging for money. Saying. “no amount is too small, any money you give them, they will be happy.”

A Human right activist, Comrade Tunde Olorungbotemi One Class, said street begging is a fall-out of the compulsory lockdown.

According to him, businesses are not moving, nothing is working in the state and country for now, so people chose the alternative means of looking for food to eat, which is begging, adding that some of the beggars are ‘Corporate beggars’.’

He, however, called on the Federal and State governments to come to the aids of the citizen by taking the Welfarism of people as their first priority and work towards putting an end to the community transmission of COVID-19 and relax the curfew placed in the community.

However, Osun State is one of the top states in the country currently experiencing increased rates of the Coronavirus infection.

While speaking with the commissioner for women affairs, Bukola Olaboopo, said, her office is not aware but the government will sensitize the parents and currently the government is planning to embark on street rading.

Politics2020 Polls:could This Be A Prelude Of What Is To Come In Nigeria Bar Association by Honbright(op): 3:36pm On Jun 20, 2020
By Tunde Olorungbotemi

During week, the political permutations in the Nigerian Bar Association takes a new dimension as weighty endorsements comes the way of Olumide Akpata for the NBA Presidency, VOICEAIRMEDIA reports.

A Distinguished Life Bencher Hairat Balogun, OON and the First Female Attorney General of Lagos State had endorsed Mr. Olumide Akpata stating as follows;

''In my almost 60 years of law practice in Nigeria, I have witnessed different types of leaders of the Nigerian Bar Association (“NBA”). I have also been privileged to watch our profession rise and unfortunately, I have also seen its decline. However, I have always kept hope alive that a time will come, possibly in my lifetime, when the institutional shortcomings that culminated in our present situation would be redressed by the right kind of leadership at the NBA. The emergence of Olumide Akpata as a frontline candidate for the NBA presidency suddenly brings that hope to bear.''

In a related development, a former NBA Secretary General, Mazi Afam Osigwe had also thrown his weight behind Olumide Akpata for the NBA Presidency. He stated that,

"Our Association deserves to be led by someone who will, in title alone, be called President, but in nature, conviction, vision, practice and antecedents, remain a reliable brother and friend to his professional colleagues regardless of status, age, niche or origin. I believe we should improve the standing of the NBA, proactively address issues affecting lawyers, fashion ways to promote the welfare, working environment of lawyers as well as ensuring that, no matter their status, all lawyers benefit from their membership of the NBA."

Also, as if to round up the week, a young Influential lawyer, Desmond Orisewezie had expressed his clear endorsement for the NBA Presidency. He wrote on his media pages that

"Olumide Akpata represents a break from the past, a strategic solution provider to systemic challenges, a driver of contemporary law practice, a unifier of the Bar, our hope for the future and a vibrant catalyst for reforms in the administration of justice in Nigeria."

This endorsement coming from a Lawyer who enjoys a high regard amongst a large number of young lawyers in Nigeria is a game changing development and there appears to be no limitation to the extent he could go for the actualization of the candidacy of Olumide Akpata as the next NBA President, reports have it that a group of 100 young lawyers had immediately aligned themselves with Desmond's position.

Could this be a prelude of what is to come?
