Prosecution in the ongoing trial of Founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel Prophet Babatunde Alfa and six others at an Ondo state high court in Akure has closed its case after calling nine witnesses.

Recall the founder of Sotitobire Church, Prophet Alfa is standing trial over alleged missing of a year old boy Gold Kolawole in his Church in December, 2019.

The last witness who gave testimony today Thursday, June 18 was another personnel of the Department of State Services, Johnson Adebayo who claimed the 7th defendant, Peter Anjorin made away with prophet Babatunde’s Samsung Galaxy phone and returned it 8 days later.

The lead Prosecutor who is also the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Adekola Olawoye said the Prosecution is satisfied with the evidences and exhibits presented before the court.

Lead Defence counsel, Olusola Oke and Akinyemi Omoware also expressed satisfaction with the proceedings so far.

Meanwhile, Justice Olusegun Odusola has adjourned hearing till 25, 29 and 30 June 2020 to enable the defence open its case.

In the face of fast rising COVID-19 pandemic that has caused a major set back to traders and workers in Osun state for inability to generate money for food and shelter due to economic stagnant brought by Lockdown, residents of Osun are being oppressed with the increment in Intercity transport fare.

Residents of Osun, particularly those whose residential houses are in Owode-Ede, have expressed hardship and dissatisfaction over intercity transportation increment enforced by transport operators.

Some of the residents, who ply the road every day by boarding intercity commercial minibuses popularly called Korope disclosed that the bus drivers could not give a satisfactory explanation to justify the inhumane increment.

In an interview with some of the residents, they lamented that such an increment, at a time when COVID-19 has affected their source of income negatively, is nothing short of cruelty.

A resident of Owode, Alhaja Silifat Olayiwola, revealed that she could not fathom why the drivers would increase the transport fare when there is no scarcity of fuel.

She said: "When I confronted one driver to know why the fare was increased, he was simply staring at me like a lizard. These people are really wicked; they convey the usual number of passengers, yet they increase the price. And I wonder why."

Adebayo Idowu , who resides at Owode but owns a shop in Odi-olowo near Olaiya junction, Osogbo, stated that increment came as a rude shock to him.

Idowu said: "I was shocked when the driver insisted that I should pay N100 from Owode to Olaiya. This is wickedness! We are still battling with Coronavirus, and these korope drivers have come up with this.

Reacting to the indictment, some of the drivers maintained that the transport fare was increased as a result of COVID-19, stressing that they only acted on the directives of their leaders.

A driver, who simply identified himself as Olatunji, said: "some of us are not happy about the development. We are only acting on the directives of our leaders"

Olatunji maintained that "since there is no scarcity of fuel, and we still convey normal passengers, I don't see the reason for the increase in the transport fare."

"The government should look into this latest development and do the needful because it will only make things much more difficult for poor people."

On the part of the government, Engineer Hussain Olaniyan, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation stated that there should be a consideration and support for the government's effort.

He refuted the allegation that the State Government supports the transport operators' action.

The SA stressed that the Federal Government has reduced the pump price of fuel; hence, drivers should demonstrate empathy with commuters.

According to Engineer Olaniyan: "The government's attention has been drawn to the move by some transport operators in the State of Osun to increase transport fares.

"We also heard that the transport operators claimed that the State Government is in support of their move to increase fares."

Following the Arrest of Malik, the suspected killer of OLOYEDE ROMOKE, a 200 level mathematics education student of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti, the national association of university students(NAUS), Comrade Aruson, NANS/JCC chairman osun axis has revealed how the deceased(Romoke) died after eating the food he(Malik) bought before her arrival accompanied by her friend named FADEKE, a student of the Obafemi Awolowo university, VOICEAIRMEDIA has learnt.

VOICEAIRMEDIA gathered that Romoke was accompanied by her friend(Fadeke) to visit Malik in Iree not knowing it was a death trap for them, upon their arrival Malik bought a food for both of them and Romoke died shortly after consuming the food while Fadeke lost consciousness.

Malik the boyfriend to the deceased student was arrested by the Nigeria police force today in Oshogbo where he hides to evade arrest.

Meanwhile the leadership National association of university students(NAUS) has demanded justice for the deceased student as they pay a condolence visitation to the parents of the deceased, assured them that justice is adequately served.

In a statement sent to VOICEAIRMEDIA by NAUS VP(South west):

" The deceased (Romoke) went with her friend named Fadeke who happens to be a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife to visit her (Fadeke) boyfriend in Iree. On getting there, we learnt that the boyfriend named Malik bought food for both of them before their arrival at his residence.

According to Fadeke, few minutes after eating the rice that was bought for them before their arrival, they started vomiting and she (Fadeke) had to enter the toilet to vomit.

Unfortunately, she was not able to leave the toilet until the second day because she has lost strength. On getting to the room, she met her friend (Romoke) who has also vomited lied helplessly on the bed.

According to her, it was during the course of waking her up that the boyfriend entered and she told him to help wake her up unknowingly to her that she is dead.

The boyfriend (Malik) told her to wake her (Romoke) herself so far she is her friend and he then locked the two of them in the room and left. The guy (Malik) was later caught by Police officers in Osogbo through the intervention of the VP (South West), NAUS and the NANS/JCC Chairman, Osun axis and was brought back to Iree Police Divisional Headquarters.

So far, we have been able to gather through our visit to the room of Malik that he is a Yahoo boy based on the materials that were seen in his room which include but not limited to a black local pot and black soaps", They claimed

In all, we charged the DPO to ensure that justice is secured and he has promised that the case shall be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department tomorrow for thorough action to be taken while promising shall legal action shall be instituted against him after thorough investigation has been conducted." The student union of the Osun state polytechnic, Iree has debunked the news trending online that Malik, the prime suspect alleged to have killed kemisola, A 300level student of the Federal university of Oye Ekiti is a student of ospoly iree, VOICEAIRMEDIA reports.

The students union leader clarifies that the incident has nothing to do with the osun state polytechnic Iree.

This is contained in a press Release dated Wednesday 17th June, 2020, made available to VOICEAIRMEDIA. The union describe the news as misleading stressing that ospoly is an institution known to be an institution occupied with excellence in character and technology Students.


The statement Reads:

The attention of the Union as been acutely drawn to the fast spreading of a tragedy story that has generate palpable fear and tension in Iree community of Boripe Local Government,Osun state with the discovery of the dead body of a 22-year old student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, identified as Faderera.

A final year student of the department of Mass Communication, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Titilayo Ajayi reportedly died on Saturday, after a brief illness.

Press Club Mapoly gathered that late Titilayo took ill sometimes last month in Abeokuta and later went home to her family in Lagos when the sickness was getting worse.

Although the nature of her death is yet to be ascertained, her death came as a rude shock to many.

Speaking with PCM, a close friend of the deceased, Anna Owolabi said ” She was sick and after several attempts to fight it alone in Abeokuta, she later traveled back to her family in Lagos, on the 25th of May.

“We tried to check on her, although she said she was getting better as at 29th of May, until her number was not going through anymore early the month of June, before she was announced dead by her family.

“Titilayo Ajayi was a God fearing and hardworking lady who is always ready to help, most especially in terms of making a betterment future.This is a great loss to her family, she will be missed by us all”.

Tributes has since continue to pour in for the late Titilayo from friends and coursemate who described her as a great loss to the entire HND2 Mass Communication students.

Some of the tributes reads ” It’s hard to believe you won’t graduate with us,return if possible Titilayo.”

“My dear friend and coursemate you left the entire department of Mass Communication students wondering why you have to leave so soon after the completion of your National Diploma.

” I remembered how we all returned with smiles on our faces including you for the second phase of our search for knowledge.

” I also remembered we were all together before the COVID-19 pandemic which we have to return to our various homes to be with our families now you have gone so far and would never be resuming with us.

“We wrote exams and you never got to see your results and now you went into the cold hands of death just in your final year.”

“Titilayo was very gentle and down to earth , she would met and greet you with her wonderful smile, May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”

Ex-Beauty queen Ibidun Ituah-Ighodalo, popular event planner and wife of notable man of God, Ituah Ighodalo, Founding Pastor of The Trinity Church, has died, VOICEAIRMEDIA reports.

She reportedly died in Port Harcourt where she was on official duties.

Ibidun, who proprietor of Elizabeth R event planners, reportedly died of cardiac arrest around 2am today, Sunday, June 14, 2020.

Again, it was a sad moment in the largest city of Ibadan on Saturday For the third time in two weeks, another young woman has been reportedly raped and killed in Ibadan, VOICEAIRMEDIA has learnt.

The latest victim is said to be a 21-year-old National Diploma student of Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, identified as Grace Oshiagwu, who was said to have been raped and killed in a church mission building at Idi-Ori Area, Shasha off expressway by unknown assailant(s) saturday, 13th june, 2020 about 3:00 pm.

The latest incident was said to have occurred at Idi Ori, Sasa, Ojoo area of Ibadan in Akinyele Local Government Area.

A resident of the area said the latest victim was at church in the company of her brother who was learning how to play the guitar when the incident occurred, reacted on condition of anonymity.

According to the source, Grace’s lifeless body had been discovered by earlier callers to the church. She had reportedly been found with no underwear on.

Police spokesman Gbenga Fadeyi confirmed the incident.

The case has since then been reported at the Ojoo Police Station for further investigation to locate the criminals.

The Deputy Chief of Staff (General Administration) to Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Barrister Mikhail Adejare Adebisi has died, VOICEAIRMEDIA reports.

According to reports, the Ilobu-born lawyer and politician died late on Friday, June 12 at a hospital in Lagos State.

Further report gathered that he has been battling with an undisclosed illness that has kept him away from office for about two months before he died.

According to a source close to him, Adebisi died around 8pm on Friday and his remains will be interred on Saturday according to Islamic rites.

THE Osun Online Media practitioners Association (OOMPA), has condemned in total terms, the rising cases of rape across the country, calling for justice over the menace.

In a press statement signed by OOMPA's Publicity Secretary, Comrade Tunde Olorungbotemi, Made available to VOICEAIRMEDIA, the association condemned the recent rising cases of rape and defilement of children and girls in Nigeria and call on the Nigerian Police and the Ministry of Justice of the cases from Jigawa, Ibadan and Edo states to serve as deterrent to others.

Quoting the Chairman of the association, Comrade Jare Tiamiyu while speaking during a general meeting held at NUJ Press Centre, Osogbo, Olorungbotemi described the dastardly act as illicit orchestrated by selfishness of a mind towards another which would eventually throw the victim into traumatic state of mind

According to the OOMPA'S Spokesman, the rising incidents of rape is spreading faster than the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic in the country, saying all hands must be on deck to bring an end to the menace.

He said there was the need for parents and guardians to protect their children from waywardness, protecting them against befallen evil of rapists, ensure that were being given home training and most especially the basic knowledge about sex and sex education.

He said: "During our general meeting, our amiable Chairman, Comrade Jare Tiamiyu who was perturbed by the rising cases of rape in the country expressed worries and urged government and security authorities to fasten their bets and ensure those arrested perpetrators did not go unpolished so as to serve as deterrent to others.

"Fighting against this disgusting menace that is spreading even faster than the ravaged Coronavirus pandemic in the country required collective responsibility.
Statistics indicted that at least two million Nigerian girls experience sexual abuse.

“I, therefore, call on our law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to be more responsive in their prosecutions, ruling and passing judgment on perpetrators of any human being found guilty of rape to save and secure the human right of our girl child in Nigeria.

"All hospital owners and government parastatals should provide an emergency section to serve as first aid response to the victims of rape to save their life."

After weeks of shutdown across Osun state, Christian activities began in the State as churches opened for worship on Sunday, VOICEAIRMEDIA reports.

Recall the state government had placed a ban on religious activities as part of the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola had on Wednesday announced the lifting of the ban on religious gathering and ordered the reopening of churches and mosques in the state on Fridays and Sundays for two weeks while all other weekly programmes remained suspended till further notice.

He, however, directed that religious gatherings must be in compliance with the directive and observance of COVID-19 protocols, saying all worshippers, including children, should wear face masks and social distancing must be maintained.

He said hand-washing containers and sanitisers must be provided at religious centres.

The governor stated that further government actions would be determined by the effect of compliance level with the guidelines during the two-week period.

In some of the churches visited by our correspondent in Osogbo, the state capital, on Sunday, it was observed that the churches complied with the government’s directive as the water, soap and sanitisers were provided for th worshippers to wash their hands, among others.

Again, 12-year-old girl raped by four masked Men in Lagos

Again, 12-year-old girl in Ajah, Lagos was reportedly raped by four masked men in her home on Thursday, VOICEAIRMEDIA has obtained.

According to a family member, anonymous claimed the pupil was not only raped but also brutalised.

“She has gone for medication and necessary treatment has been done. We have also informed the police about the matter,” the source disclosed.

“She was at home having her online class when the sad occurrence took place. It is a bad experience for her.”

Recall that Recall Barakat Bello, a 22-year-old student of Institute of Agriculture, Research and Training, Ibadan, was on Monday evening attacked and killed while in her parents’ house in the Akinyele area of Ibadan.

Further report gathered that the 12-year-old girl had bruises and tear in her virgina which led to massive bleeding.

While reacting, the Lagos police spokesperson, Bala Elkana, has confirmed the attack and switched into action to investigate the unwanted crime.

“It was a sad incident. She was in the house with her father. When it was time for her to start her online class as COVID-19 mandated, the father discovered that there was no fuel in the generator. So, he said let him quickly go get fuel”

“Immediately he left, the rapists jumped into the fence to carry out the attack, they covered their face during this period so, she could not identity them.

“As a matter of fact, the state commissioner of police has asked the gender unit of the force to investigate the matter. Like we’ve achieved before now, we will apprehend them and make sure they face the rot of law,” the police boss said.

Meanwhile, the leading Presidential candidate of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Com. Sunday Asefon has met with the acting Provost and the management team of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology Ibadan, Oyo State where Baraka was undertaking the National Diploma programme in Science Laboratory Technology to sympathize with them.

The team however request from the management of the college to consider the approval to place Barakat immediate younger brother Azeez Bello on full paid scholarship as a form of compensation for the family of the deceased student.

The management of the institution through the acting provost also promised to support the family in this trying time.

The team thereafter prayed with the family and demanded justice for the victim as comrade Sunday Asefon reechoed 'No to Rape'.

A new Redio station in Ekiti state, Newcruse 92.7 FM Ikere Ekiti, on Tuesday sacked no fewer than ten staff with the approval by the management of the organization, VOICEAIRMEDIA reports.

While Some other staff who were retained had their salaries slashed almost by 30%.

VAM recall that the station was established by an Illustrious son of Ikere and Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA), Chief Wole Olanipekun(SAN).

According to reports, the disengaged staff which cut across all departments in the organization were employed barely six months ago after the station commenced test transmission.

The decision of the management was communicated to the affected staff through a letter signed by the Administrative Officer Babatunde Daramola.

The letter reads, ”Sequel to the reorganization of the establishment, I regret to inform you that your services are no longer needed.

Kindly submit all available property of the establishment to the Administrative officer.

The letter dated 31-5-2020 was handed over to the affected staff on the 1st of June 2020.

Some of the affected staff who could not bear the pain bemoaned the action of the management describing such as a sheer wickedness.

According to them, the sack came as a rude shock because they were employed barely six months ago.

They lamented that the proprietor of the station had promised them on several occasions about their job security.

According to them, most of the affected staff left their former employers to secure the job but said they have been thrown into pain and agony.

They appealed to well meaning Ekiti People to cone to their aid.

In the early hour on Children's day, May 27th, On a Three hours trip, our reporter at Ojo-Oba, Osogbo the bus terminals in the Osogbo area of Osun state, a passenger had given all the assurances that there is commercial transportation to Akure, the capital city of Ondo State, and, in fact, vice versa back to Osun state. With a lighter mood, he dismissed the directive banning interstate travel.

With boldness he narrated how he successfully travel down to neighboring state on a daily basis for the past one week without hindrance from Security officials despite interstate traveling ban.

So, our reporter wanted to see how the restriction of movement has affected travel between Osun state and its South Western neighbours.

Across the nation, the country is in a race against time to curb the spread of the deadly virus and to rescue what they can of lives and the economy from recession.

Nigeria recorded its first Coronavirus case on February 27, 2020 and by March 30, 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari had signed the “COVID-19 Quarantine Regulations” to enforce measures to check the spread of the disease in the country.

The quarantine act empowers the president to restrict movement when a “dangerous disease” breaks out in the country and on April 27, 2020, Buhari ordered a nationwide curfew from 8pm to 6am. He also banned interstate travel, sparing only those on essential services.

Meanwhile, the presidential directives had followed recommendations by the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19, as the committee described interstate travel as one of the major causes of community transmission of the disease.

For instance, the first confirmed case in Osun state was a returning travellers and also a case confirmed had travelled from Lagos through to Ondo state.

At the time of this undercover investigation, Nigeria had only 8,733 cases and 254 deaths and 2501 recovered from the disease.

Also, the Osun state government, Governor Gboyega Oyetola and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu have ordered total lockdown of interstate traveling.

VOICEAIRMEDIA’ investigation, however, revealed that travellers have been defying the lockdown and border closure and moving between Osun and Ondo state.

They do so with the support of corrupt security officials who extort drivers and turn blind eyes to travellers.

AS LONG AS THE DRIVER IS PREPARE TO DO GIVEAWAY’

Within the hour of 6pm to 5pm only on Monday to thursday, you are free to move round Osun state while you are free to move round in Ondo state within the hour of 7am to 7pm everyday according to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu but totally ignored by residents as they work freely till day and night break in spite of the easing lockdown of the state.

On the fateful Wednesday morning after I later found out how to make the journey to Ondo state, and left Osogbo at 6.30 a.m. to Ojo-Oba where we took off.

Passengers were charged with N1200, Before now, about N1,000 or less was the charge from Osun to Ondo state and vice versa, But driver justified the increment.

“We have to settle those security people on the road, you know, and also the number of passengers have reduced due to social distancing” he smiled.

As I waited for other passengers to arrive, the driver began telling of how they have been “doing this business” despite the restriction order by the government.

"The passenger will have to drop at Owena then walk further to board a car to Akure/Ondo State with N500"

“Also, As long as the driver is prepare and he is readily sorting those policemen on the road, you are good to go,” he said.

“We have to move before 5pm that the curfew starts,” he added.

The vehicle took seven passengers – two each on the back rows and one beside the driver, the rule of social or physical distancing was maintained completely – and we left around 7:20am, the driver, asked that we put on our masks as we zoomed off.

As we neared Owena from where Osun shares a boundary with Ondo.

The policemen at that point collect between N1500 and N1,000 from truck and lorries while commercial drivers will pay N100, N50 then you go.

WITH JUST N100, YOU ARE GOOD TO GO

Next stop was that of the FRSC, and again we were freed.

Finally, we're dropped off around Owena Ondo.

After we took A car going to Akure from Owena and was surprised when one of the soldier at the boundary of Osun and Ondo gave the driver a N100 to buy newspaper while coming back from Akure.

WELCOME TO ONDO STATE

In Akure, i saw hausa men changing Nigerian naira to Dollar and Market were closed down but marketers are secretly carrying out their business transactions, VOICEAIRMEDIA learnt that Markets only open on Tuesday and Thursday in the capital city of the state.

I observed that there was no social distancing in all the places I visited and deliberately People are not using the facemasks and they're moving freely within the state.

FROM ONDO BACK TO OSUN

Things looked scanty at the usually-busy park in Akad as drivers only pick passengers going to Owena, then from there you find your bus to Ibadan, Osogbo, Lagos and others.., and also some non-uniformed and uniformed police officers were lurking around to see any vehicle boarding passengers. Well, the purpose of their presence, some of the park attendants said, was to simply extort drivers.

Some of the drivers deliberately blocked the road and ask travellers to go back to where they are coming from but, Finally, passengers who had come are allowed to move into the car and pay N1500 quietly at the park at Owena. And then in batches of seven, then off it goes to Osogbo.

LIFE INSIDE THE CAR

A Fulani Woman was inside the car, seriously coughing and I told him to use his facemask and never to remove it even as the cough persist.

I was worried but constantly use my hand sanitizer and concentrate on the journey.

Before entering into Ilesha, we barely slowed down as the uniform men manning the road stopped the car and ask three ladies and one guy to come down out of the vehicle, he challenged them of using their face masks to cover neck instead of mouth and nose and later passed us after the driver gave him N100 with a wave of his hand.

“Safe journey,” the policemen even wished us.

A Chieftain of All Progressive congress(APC) in Ondo state, Olusola Oke SAN on Thursday lost his mother, Mrs Oke, Voice Air Media reports.

Mother of a top aspirant seeking the position of governor in Ondo state under the All Progressive Congress(APC), Chief Olusola Oke is dead.

According to a statement personally signed by Chief Olusola Oke and made available to the VAM News, Mrs Marian Oke died at the age of 91.

She died after a brief illness.

Eyitayo Jegede attended St. Stephen’s “SA” Primary School Modakeke, Ile-Ife and was at Aquinas College Akure from 5 January 1973 to July 1978 for his Secondary Education . He was a Senior Prefect at Aquinas College and took active part in Sports in the best traditions of the family. He had his Higher School Certificate Education at Christ's School Ado Ekiti and was the School Volleyball Captain both at Aquinas College, Akure and Christ School, Ado Ekiti between 1978 and 1980. He also captained the University Volleyball team at the University of Lagos where he had his Law Degree Course between 1980 and 1983.

Eyitayo emerged the winner of his party’s PDP primary by polling 760 votes to defeat the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP in the 2012 governorship election, Hon. Saka Lawal. On November 23, 2016, The Appeal Court pronounced Mr Eyitayo Jegede as the gubernatorial flag bearer of his party, PDP. A position previously assumed by the billionaire and business mogul, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim. Eyitayo Jegede SAN lost to the incumbent governor of ondo state , Rotimi Akeredolu SAN in the 2016 gubernatorial election as he came second with 150, 380 votes.

His ambition in becoming the governor of the state still in shape as he he will be battling with two other Senior advocates, Rotimi Akeredolu and Olusola oke. I hope he fixes the bridges between him and his people in Akure. Eyitayo jegede lost his stronghold district to opposition, even at his polling unit. The 2020 election will not be like usual as the Senior Advocate is trying all he could to take back his mandate.

Olusola Alexander Oke is a Nigerian lawyer and politician.
Oke was born on 7 April 1956 in Ilowo, a coastal town in Ilaje Local government Area of Ondo State. His father was from Ilaje and his mother hailed from Imoru town in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo state.

He was a governorship candidate in Ondo state in the 2012 gubernatorial election. In the televised debate before the election, Olusola Oke was adjudged winner by a vast majority of the viewers. According to popular youth activist, Olatunji Ariyo, in the second debate which featured only the three leading candidates, Olusola Oke appeared to be the indisputable winner. He exhibited candour, depth and came out smoking hot. The incumbent governor however did well in holding his ground while Akeredolu of the then ACN improved upon his earlier performance. The debate was also richer on issues although the candidates could not escape the temptation of typecasting one another as they laboured hard to adorn opponents with the corrupt tag which was an avoidable distraction.

Olusola oke was a top contender for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the state Governorship election in November 2016. He decamped to the Alliance for Democracy (AD) after the APC primaries and lose to Rotimi Akeredolu as he came third position as announced by the independent National Electoral commission(INEC).

Olusola oke has desired to rule ondo state for long, According to him, he understands the problems the people are facing and he promised to deliver the state to her promise land if given the mandate. Akeredolu was born on 21 July 1956 in Owo to Reverend J. Ola Akeredolu of the Akeredolu family and Lady Evangelist Grace B. Akeredolu of Aderoyiju family of Igbotu, Ese Odo, in Ondo.

On Sunday, 27 November 2016, Akeredolu was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the winner of the Ondo State Governorship Election. He amassed 244, 842 votes in the election while Mr. Jegede with 150, 380 votes and Mr. Oke with 126, 889 votes . According to Prof. Ganiyu Ambali, INEC Returning Officer, Akeredolu defeated two major opponents, Eyitayo Jegede of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), to clinch victory. He was sworn in as the governor of Ondo State on 24 February 2017 in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.

Rotimi Akeredolu is seeking reelection for a second term as he charged the people in the state to vote for him for a second term, his infrastructure development and basic amenities with frequent payment of worker salaries in the state will give him a chance to clinch the mandate.

No fewer than 10 people have been arrested by Police in Ebonyi state in connection with the harassment of a pastor identified as Okochi Chukwu Obeni, VOICE AIR media reports.

The Pastor was publicly humiliated for his Facebook post criticizing Afikpo North local government chairman area of the state, Hon. Ogbonnia Oko Enyim.

According to reports, Obeni was tried and punished by the Traditional Council of his Amasiri community and his punishment included being publicly flogged.

VAM News gathered that a video of the cleric being flogged surfaced on the internet recently, which showed Obeni stripped down to his shorts, hands tied behind his back, and flogged mercilessly.

While he was being flogged, he was forced to recant his statement of criticizing the LGA Chairman.

An eyewitness who confirm to VAM that the pastor ended up in the hospital following the incident and he took to Facebook to say his hand has been paralyzed as a result of the inhuman treatment.

While speaking with the Police on Wednesday, May 20, confirmed that arrest of Julius Amadi Nyerere and 9 other suspects involved in the assault have been made.

Meanwhile, the Acting Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, DCP Yekini A. Ayoku urged the general public to remain calm as he has ordered a full scale investigation into the matter with a view to unravelling the circumstances that led to such inhuman treatment.

Federal and state governments had introduced new policies to ensure students acquire unhindered learning Nigeria which is E-Learning (Electronic /online teaching) without proper funding and inability to provide some necessary gadgets needed for students.

While speaking with our correspondent, the government should help our students who do not have hope to be educated, as a matter of urgency, they should slash the school fees of every higher institution across the country, to give hope to Nigerian students, Asefon said.

As cases of killings, kidnapping, rape and destruction of properties keep increasing for several days now with security agencies unable to arrest the disturbing trend, VAM News reports.

Some Nigerians, who are Residents of Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State have commenced a daily security tracker to document the casualty figures of insecurity in the state.

Recall that armed bandits attacked Daudawa and Angwan Baki communties on Wednesday in Faskari LGA, kidnapping five persons and killing two others.

As cases of killings, kidnapping, rape and destruction of properties keep increasing for several days now with security agencies unable to arrest the disturbing trend.

The new tracker among other things will also document the number of internally displaced persons seeking refuge in Katsina town.

South Broward senior is school’s first black valedictorian with highest GPA in school history

The first black valedictorian of South Broward High School’s graduating class has a record-setting GPA.

“As of now, it’s a 5.6045,” said senior Timi Adelakun. “I think by graduation it’ll go a little bit higher, but that’s my number.”

The 18-year-old has earned the highest recorded GPA at the Hollywood school.

“It’s good, especially the history breaking part, that me being the first black valedictorian, and also me having the highest GPA in my school,” Adelakun said. “It’s good to know.”

Adelakun said his grades excelled early on in his life, and he kept them up ever since.

“South Broward sets you up to start off with college-level courses, so you’re pretty much in a good position GPA wise,” he said. “South Broward High School, which is an Ace Program school, and each Ace class is a college credit. At the same time, they offer AP courses and at the same time they offer Broward College courses.”

Adelakun said he has been taking all three of the courses offered during his time in high school.

“I’ve been taking over 20 college courses worth of credit, and because of that, my AP credits, my Ace credits and my dual enrollment credits boost my GPA,” he said.

“When I was in high school I was always like the STEM-focused kid. I was in calculus and biology, but at the same time I was doing extracurricular drama club/Thespian Honors Society,” Adelakun said. “Through there I’ve been doing shows and competitions. Through that love of theater, I’ve found a way to do both at the same time.”
