Poor governmental planning is also a cause of famine. While a natural disaster may devastate the crops in a region, a sound government should have stored enough food or resources to acquire sufficient provisions to prevent widespread death from starvation. Also, the African community should step in to remedy the problem. Many situations occur in Sub Saharan countries today where food exists but the people are simply too poor to buy it. Obviously, it demonstrates how in these circumstances, famine is caused by man and not the environment.

As much as I admire the ruthless efficiency of Mossad, I think the solution to the Boko Haram menace is not just a matter of counter terrorism. Maybe if our leaders were less corrupt and provided proper education, social services and job opportunities to millions of young men in the North we would not have got to this stage. Poverty and terrorism usually go hand in hand.
Exactly!!

What are the reasons why Nigeria imports food? i cannot find any to be honest. People spend money on expensive cloth, shoes, cars,  but no one wants to invest in agriculture.

This is ridiculous !!.  No politician belongs in your bedroom.

Tottenham Sign Ivory Coast Striker Souleymane Coulibaly

17 July 2011

Tottenham have signed Ivory Coast U-17 Striker, Souleymane Coulibaly.

Tottenham said in a statement on their website: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Souleymane Coulibaly to join the club."

Tottenham announced the 16-year-old striker has moved to White Hart Lane, having previously played for Italian club AC Siena's youth team.

According to Italian reports, there was no professional contract between the kid and AC Sienna, but was training in their youth team.

Coulibaly was a big success at the Under-17  where he scored nine goals in four games. He scored two Hatricks—one against Brazil and scored four goals against Denmark.

Following his huge success, he was chased by several top clubs. Reports indicate  and Man United were also in the race along with Serie A top clubs.

But Daniel Levy was first to make the move. Levy traveled to Italy last week and met Coulibaly's father and agreed a £2 million deal. It seems that promise of first team action has tilted the signings towards Spurs.

The Coulibaly family fled to Italy two years ago to avoid unrest in their homeland. Souleymane is not old enough to be granted a work permit in England and he can only arrive in the country with his family.

The teenager had to wait for his father to be granted an Italian passport before moving to London. It seems the stumbling block is now removed and he has signed a deal with Spurs.

From U17  , he is strong, beat the defenders with pace and skill. He has the flair too with a eye for the goal. Some of his goals were true quality with some sublime finishes from awkward angles.

If Lukaku is £22 million, £2 million for this kid seems a bargain. We will see him representing in the NextGen youth series dubbed as U19 Champions League. I would not be surprised if he is part of the first team in Europa league as well.

All in all, looks a great signing, hopefully he gets settles fast and keep improving.

owo2390:
Importing food is silly.

We should plant our own food so that we can have our own local capital, then if we have a surplus of food we can export and bring in revenue.

It is really simple economics-it is mind boggling how the administrators in Nigeria don't see that.

Tonnes of ‘pure water’ sachets are shredded and dried in a section of the recycling plant.

At the recycling plant situated within the Olusosun dumpsite, waste materials ranging from used plastic to pure water sachets and nylons are converted into new waste bags for reuse.

This menace of plastic waste has taken over our entire nation, it pollutes our soils, chokes our drains, breeds malaria and is unsightly. One solution is recycling. Sachets water can be collected and cleaned ready for recycling, and this will create jobs.

Spies can be deployed to those troubled areas to blend and mix up with the local population, and in fact probably get recruited as boko haram members.
This can be dangerous for their own lives if they are discovered by Boko Haram.

Religion is for Drop Outs. People hold on to religion, like a crutch because they can't make it any other way. With religion you stop being responsible for your own actions and blame someone else like God when it's something you like and the Devil when it's something you don't like.

Politics › $1bn Abuja World Trade Centre by Horus(op):
$1bn Abuja World Trade Centre

Bala Mohammed, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Thursday disclosed that arrangements have been concluded for the ground breaking of the $1 billion Abuja World Trade Centre (AWTC).

President Goodluck Jonathan is to perform the groundbreaking ceremony at the 37-storey Abuja World Trade Centre located on 6.102 hectares of land along Constitution Road, Central Business District, Abuja in September, 2011.

Mohammed disclosed that the investor, First Intercontinental Limited, a subsidiary of Churchgate Investments Limited, has obtained a WTC licence from the United States World Trade Centre to replicate the project in Nigeria.

The minister added that the administration has already attracted $2.6 billion direct foreign investment from a US company, Balkan Group, for the development of Down Town project and infrastructure.

According to him, World Trade Centre, a non-profit and non-political association, was established to promote and facilitate world trade and provides a platform to the world by connecting nearly 300 cities and 85 countries through a powerful array of information and services, adding that over 750,000 companies are affiliated with World Trade Centre Association (WTCA).

The Minister noted that the project, on completion, “will no doubt launch Nigeria into the global economic arena and indeed the African sub-region,” saying that the mega-multi-use complex consists of high-rise residential and service apartment towers, office towers as well as centre iconic tower, conference facilities, retail shopping mall with food and beverage as well as entertainment facilities.

The N152 billion project is jointly owned by the FCT administration and First Intercontinental Properties Limited, a subsidiary of Church Gate Group under the Public Private Partnership (PPP).
