Osemigho: Sorry i dont know about those courses, but the problem in your intention is "switch". While it is possible to and still get TRV, it is very hard with slim chances. Consider continuing your previous course. This is also advised in an Indian thread I came across recently. Lol can't fit to continue Mass Comm, boring boring course.. Thanks |

Osemigho: The problem with PGC is not usually the cert but people go for programs not similar to their undergraduate course. I think your best shot is PGC(D) in your Bsc course and not any engineering/Technology course. Am not sure, but I think some universities can offer an a kind of PG program that you can upgrade to masters later. You have to email graduate advisors in multiple schools for answers. Don't panic, just email and wait for responses.
There's always a formal element in every inFORMALity. Think about your job well and find yours. Plus there's still time for payslip and employment letter if you are aiming for Fall 2017 or winter 2018 and you apply April or july. Think fast and act. You can still get a job or formalize the current one. Shalom! For a Graduate of Mass Comm wanting to switch to Cybersecurity or Network security, Which would you advice then? Pgc or Pgc(d), it's a bit confusing |

oluphilip2008: Thanks for your response. So far I've come across only one uni in Canada offering Forensic psychology. You should be able to apply then if you can read up and ask questions I'm yet to apply to, but I've learnt a lot on here for sure |

oluphilip2008: Hello great Nairaland fam, I'm really glad coming across such a useful thread as this. I wish I had discovered this earlier. God bless all the wonderful contributors here.
Pls house, I need some clarifications concerning my Canada educational pursuit: 1) In 2013, I got an offer of admission from Centennial college(PGD human resources). I applied for TRV in September of same year, but my application was denied December ending (reasons: insufficient fund and purpose of visit). I used an agent who turned out to know next to nothing about Canadian visa n stuffs. I didn't bother to reapply immediately.
2) I was working with an embassy when I applied, the embassy gave me intro letter as well. To cut long story short, the embassy didn't renew my contract for the following year 2014, thinking that my application will pull thru and would leave in January (most embassies renew staff contract yearly). That was how I lost my job. In order not to stay idle, I started an MSC program(forensic psychology) which was a full time program.First degree is in psychology as well. However, due to Nigerian educational factors, d program has been prolonged for far too long, September 2014 till now, yet to do thesis defence, don't even know when we'll be called to do that.
I have since decided to process another admission in Canada, a masters program this time around, against 2017 fall (bsc grade is second class upper). Considering my visa denial history, I don't know which course I can go for th Why not go for the same forensic psychology? Or something in the d same field Visa denial history doesn't mean IMO |

OlowoB: The major problem most Nigerians always have is that they do not do detailed research before travelling out of the country.
Yes agreed, naija is not smiling but make sure that for any country visa you will be processing, you have done nothing less than 6 months research about that country and this research must be based on what you have read and directly from people who live there (those who have positive and negative things to say), infact make sure you also listen to the deportees of the particulate country you are headed you will learn from them, most especially if you are going there to HUSTLE.
At the end of the day even if turns out not to be what you have planned for, you would have been fully prepared mentally on what to expect. HUSTLING is not easy in any part of the world.
Finally, if you are in Nigeria and you are earning at least 80k monthly, I will advise that you do NOT move to any other country to HUSTLE unless it is USA, Canada or Australia and you must be sure of exactly what you are going to do there with SOLID plans. You have said it all Those 3 countries, with clear, laid out, solid plans from A to Z |
