Hello Nairalander,

I need your suggestion and advice because I just acquired 7 hectares of land for plantain farming in ekiti which will be planted by February next year, the place is secured and free from bandits or herdsmen but everybody is telling me to do relocation instead of farming even though I’ve invested up to 4 million naira into this project because I love Agric…. Please which one is the best advice for me right now as I know how I can make it big by planting up to 10,000 suckers of plantain on this land and get the return in a year, is there market for large production of plantain?

Mods please help me to push this to front page as this is my only option of surviving

I buy chickens outside for home consumption.
The only thing I consume on a steady is their eggs.

To the point, I keep backyard chickens, they are very attractive looking, healthy, big and juicy. Most times when people come to my place they always ask if they are for sale some will even tease me to dash them one.

The issue is i only see them as my pets. My madam always quarrel with me that I do i find it difficult to slaughter them.

I am planning to slaughter one tomorrow but my mind is not fully made up.

Pls is there a way I can remove this emotional attachment I have for them?

I have over 13 of them! These ones are the ones I could capture in the pix.

I have a blood sister that the husband sponsored to the UK about 14 years ago and sent her to nursing school. You can use pretty much any sand so long as it is not salt-laden sand. I mix playground sand(sandy sand) with compost for my container plants and that works great for planting. What you need is soil with good drainage and you can add nutrients to it using compost. Compost is there for you to make your own good soil, so you don't first have to have to start first with good sand.

This is an investment. You can put top soil in cement bags as much as you can in any location you found it available and then transport to your farm

I don't understand what you mean when you say you cannot get soil for your garden. Do you not live on land or something?

And speaking of manure, have you considered composting to build soil?
