Go on BBC1 right now. Otherwise enter iplayer tommorow. Matic is literraly the star of the highlight reel as Gullit analyses our midfield dysfunction. Every single clip.
Check it out. When I highlight midfield dysfunction, all midfielders get chased away to China. When you highlight midfield dysfunction, it's the best functioning midfield in the country. Quit trying to turn Gullit analyses of one game into your personal campaign against the best functioning midfield in the country. |

Nihilist: The simple answer is that Matic was responsible for the goal we conceded. You can argue that we should have created more chances after the Burnley equaliser but the fact remains that we were 1-0 up, Matic conceded a stüpid foul and a set-piece specialist capitalised on that by scoring the goal that earned Burnley a point. Matic was responsible for conceding a foul after being given a hospital pass over 30 yards from goal which happens many times in a match. It was a brilliant freekick. That's just it. Anything more than that is scapegoating. |

diggz: Ok....and the second goal he almost gifted them?
Truth is, I saw a player who couldn't do a thing with the ball in Burnley's half than to play safe everytime by passing backwards like Mikel obi. I didn't feel his presence both offensively and defensively(especially) that is why I am upset with him. He made a header in the opponents half that was short. Cahill overcommitted, got done. The pass still came to Luiz and he missed it, and you are talking about a short header in opponents half. Did you even notice that Burnleys best chance today was caused by Kante letting his man get goal side and run free to take a shot at Courtois? No, but you are talking about Matic short header in opponents half because some folk who know little about midfield balance have been screaming his name all year? Midfield was not an issue today. Burnley completely bypassed the midfield with long balls, that's why we asked for Fabregas. Matic had a poor game today but the reason for the draw is that we created 2 shots on goal today. So to repeat Nateevs question, how is Matic responsible for today's draw? |

Hull will definitely leave that relegation zone so Leicester better get their act together.
I don't want Leicester to go down but I don't want Middlesbrough to go down either as they are friends of Chelsea and we have a good working arrangement with them as per loaning our young players. |

diggz: Yes we drew because matic was Uber useless. He stupidly caused the free kick which led to the equalizer with is robotic body Pally almost assisted them with a second goal self
I have only supported matic because I was of the opinion he was doing a job defensively. If todays game is anything to go by,he should be benched permanently.
Useless going forward and more useless defensively. Matic did not cause no goal. The ball dropped in his vincinity with 3 players surrounding him and all he could do in that situation was attempt to backheel it in the air to get it away from danger which he missed. Any midfielder that attempted to control that ball will get dispossessed by those 3 players around him and would still get the blame. It's just one of those loose bouncing balls in midfield that you can't legislate for but to do what you can to get it away from the opponent. |

olabode89: Exactly!
Henry made mention of something similar some weeks ago. When a freekick is beyond 30m, the wall sometimes is detrimental to the defending team as it provides the freekick taker a path to direct the ball. And also delays the keepers reaction time because he can't see the first 10 yards of the flight. |

Mourinho's feats here ain't that laudable cos of "Roman's millions". In the same vein, we're not allowed to flak your underperforming idealist with seemingly limitless resources.
Then you were on an argument about perspective on Citeh's already expensively assembled squad's -which Pep immensely contributed to- suitability to Pep's tactics as reason why we shouldn't even talk about his money-miss-road spending and apparent transfer bombs.
This is more than double standard!

4Play: I think you have this the wrong way round: can you name one country in history that dealt with a currency crisis by providing stimulus? In a currency crisis, a stimulus is counterproductive (this is partly why the passage of the 2016 budget, despite predictions to the contrary, preceded an acceleration of GDP contraction in Q3 FY2016).
Given 2014 GDP of $500bn, a loss of $15bn in foreign investment inflows + the $6bn contraction in nonoil exports equates to 4% of GDP (this ignores any multiplier effects). That is a big loss in output: GDP contracted -2% in 2016 (4% percentage points will swing us back into growth and an end of the recession).
Regarding the ECA, why was it up to GEJ to save but not state & local governments who take up 48% of the allocations? You may say this is not possible, but my state of Anambra (despite having corrupt & inept politicians in power) managed to have a rainy day fund. Regards your last paragraph, FG has always been the last bastion of relative sanity regardless of states and LGs fical indiscipline until Jonathan. We were here at midnight on New Years day 2010 when Jonathan opened the ECA account to the State Governors to chop in order to secure their support for his Presidency bid. That was the opening of the pandoras box. We cannot hold FG to the same standard as the States and LGs who are basket cases in terms of fiscal management. I will not hold brief for Buharis disastrous forex policy but as regards FDI inflows, however the whole of Africa and all emerging markets contracted severely in 2015. Partly emerging market contagion, partly Buharis forex policy. Finally estimates have it that the ECA should have accrued circa $84bln above the budgeted oil price benchmark. In pure numerics, GDP effect of Govt spending of $84bln trumps the $15bln you raised from FDIs & non-oil exports of which we can't even quantify how much of that figure depends on oil income/assets and how much is related to the global pullback on emerging markets. During Yaraduas 2009 financial crisis, 3% of GDP was drawn down from the ECA to prevent a recession thanks to OBJs diligence. Jonathan left no such draw down. I will not allow Buharis forex policy incompetence absolve Jonathan of his monumental phuck up. |
Politics › Re: FLASHBACK: Sanusi Doesn't Know How Oil Revenues Are Remitted - Andrew Yakubu by Ibime(m): 11:44am On Feb 11, 2017 |
4Play: Ibime you should know better. If an economy goes into recession in 2016, it is daft to say that the reason for the 2016 recession is theft that "stopped" in May 2015. Why didn't the end or reduction of corruption from May 2015 act as a stimulus to the economy post-May 2015?
You should be looking at the policy regime that has caused a 75% drop in foreign investment over 2 years for answers. I was not referring to the recession per se but rather the effect of Jonathan's mismanagement of the ECA on Government budgets and their ability to provide stimulus with it. Oil crash is mostly responsible for the current state of the economy, while Jonathan is mostly responsible for the inability to respond to it with stimulus. This is not absolving Buhari of his ridiculous and damaging forex policy. That said, what percentage of GDP does the drop in FDI represent? I would like an answer to this. |

AgamaHub: Yes he is, very poor economy policies. When they where embezzling in last administration, the policies where still ok, all these theft then didn't run down the economy then. . Au contraire, they did run down the economy, Buharis statist policies notwithstanding. Goodluck who was borrowing to pay salaries with oil at £80. What will he do with oil at £30-£50? Nigeria's problem is that we want to forget the past too easily. This lack of accountancy incentivizes corruption and mismanagement. |

diggz: Sorry I had to drag you back.
We already have players like traore and batshuayi in the same age bracket as kelechi. Asides traore who may survive as a back up to pedro or willian as the case maybe. I can't seem to think of any order spot kelechi or batshuayi will thrive in this present CFC formation in which conte will readily trust hazard as a striker when Costa is not available instead of the younger guys.
This actually brings me back to the qxn; what will kelechi bring to the table? You and I will readily agree that he is not yet the big striker for any team wanting to fight and win trophies. A future striker probably. But, we already have future players in batshuayi and traore.
If Costa is going to leave come season end then I won't mind having both aguero and llorente or lukaku and llorente as replacements. With the number of competitions and games we will have on our plates by next season, players like batshuayi and traore can battle for the 9 position in fa n Carling cup games. While the proven strikers with better experience help us deal with the pl and UCL games.
I don't think we should get kelechi. #myopinion I believe Kelechi has amazing potential and can net 30 goals a season in starting spot. His goals per minute ratio in EPL speaks to that. It is the best . . over a large volume of games as well. His link up play is quite good also. In my mind Costa is already gone this summer. |
