tbaba1234: We can't blame anyone for Jordan Ibe refusal. He was playing in Liverpool and felt an england call-up was not too far off and he wanted to wait.
Carlton Cole was in a similar boat. He was at chelsea when he was young and rejected Nigeria because he thought, England opportunity was close.
Shola Ameobi and Nedum Onuoha too..
Now, Onuoha is interested in Nigeria because the England chance has disappeared. Ameobi also played for Nigeria. In my opinion, any player that had once rejected Nigeria should not be invited back. We have several other players waiting for their chance to play. We can't be anyone fall back option. O pari |

TheSuperNerd: Barcelona Surgeon Stops Success From Resuming Watford Training, Striker Flies To Spain Again
https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/85827Success.jpg
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that injured Watford striker Isaac Success will fly to Barcelona, Spain on Tuesday, November 22.
As previously reported, the former Nigeria youth international was supposed to start light training with the Hornets towards the end of last week, but that decision was later reversed by Dr Ramon Cugat and his medical team.
After tomorrow’s checkup, Cugat will recommend whether or not Success can resume training with Watford.
The Spanish surgeon has treated former and present Barcelona stars Pep Guardiola, Xavi Hernandez, Cesc Fabregas, Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol in the past, and recently treated Man City pair Kevin de Bruyne and Vincent Kompany after they were sent to his hospital by Guardiola.
Isaac Success, 20, has been out of action since October 16, 2016.
Source: http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=21153 This isn't good news for Nigeria. We really need Isaac Success to remain healthy. I am hoping to see him partner Iwobi, Moses, and Iwobi in the Super Eagles frontline. My thoughts and prayers are with him. |

TheSuperNerd: Man United Legend: Wenger Showed His Weakness By Dropping Iwobi Against Man United
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/image-108.jpg
Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville has faulted Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger over his decision to leave out 20 year old forward Alex Iwobi in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Arsenal salvaged a point against Manchester United with a late equaliser from their first shot on target, but Neville believed they could have gotten more from the game, if Wenger had stuck with Iwobi in his starting line up.
Wenger sacrificed the Nigerian for Aaron Ramsey and Neville believed it’s a sign of weakness on the part of the manager, which had an overall impact on how Arsenal played in the game.
”I believed Manchester United would have set up their team with Iwobi in mind, Wenger lost a trick by dropping him for Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal lacked balance due to Ramsey’s position on the left. Iwobi would have given them balance” He said.
”The axing of Iwobi for Ramsey showed Wenger’s weakness in big games. He went for experience, no doubt but also wanted to contain Manchester United as Ramsey is more defensive minded than Iwobi. Arsenal should be set up to trouble teams and not contain them”.
Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/11/21/man-united-legend-wenger-showed-his-weakness-by-dropping-iwobi-against-man-united/ I was surprised to see Aaron Ramsey continued in the game after the first half. Ramsey was a passenger on Saturday but, for some reasons, Wenger likes him. Let's hope and pray that Iwobi's chances isn't gonna be affected now that Ramsey seems to getting back into fitness. |

TheSuperNerd: REPORT: English Champion Leicester City In Talks With Genk Over Super Eagles Star Wilfred Ndidi
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-110.jpg
According to various news sources in Belgium, Leicester City has identified Nigerian defender cum midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as a long term replacement for N’golo Kante, and have opened talks with Genk over his transfer.
A bid of around £25m has been lodged and both teams are reportedly locked in talks over the transfer of the 20 year old, whose goal was voted the best in Belgium top flight league last season.
Already a full blown Nigeria international at the age of 20, he has grown in leaps and bounds since he was drafted to central midfield by the coach of Genk last season.
His goal against Atheltico Bilbao in the Europa League was rated as one of the best of the rounds, another confirmation of how well he has developed the last few months.
Heavily linked with a move to Newcastle in the winter, it appears English champions Leicester City are now inching closer to signing the coveted Nigerian, who turned down a move to German side Hamburg in the summer.
Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/11/21/report-english-champion-leicester-city-in-talks-with-genk-over-super-eagles-star-wilfred-ndidi/ I don't know how much stock one can put into these owngoalnigeria.com stories but, if this it true, then it's good news for Nigeria. Wilfred Ndidi is touch notch DM. I was surprise not to see him start ahead of Onazi in the game against Algeria. I think Rohr decided to go with Onazi due to experience but he knows how talented Ndidi is, so don't be surprised if he benches Onazi starting from our next game. Based on what I have seen of him, Ndidi is arguably the best DM we've had in the Super Eagles since the retirement of Sunday Oliseh. Yes, he's that good. Keep an eye on him. I would like to see him, along with Azubike Okechukwu, eventually anchor the Super Eagles midfield in a big tournament. O pari |

Garba Lawal and Emma Ado should both STFU!
There's nothing like "luck" in football. It's all about hard work, good planning and training.
Yes, some Nigerian especially Samson Siasia whom I hold in very high esteem; however, their downfall is "favoritism" - for lack of a better word. The problem with the Super Eagles during the reigns of Keshi, Siasia, and Oliseh was that our best players were not playing for us. Each time you see their team lists, you'll always find some head scratching names on the list. Today, players are invited strictly on merit and things are done quite professionally.

goldfish80: Chelsea football club have once again demonstrated they are a club without class. Initially, I couldn't bring myself to belive they really are punishing Mikel for playing at the Olympics. Even when they issued a statement wishing him all the best in Rio.
Mikel on his part is too meek and timid for my liking. If it were someone like Samuel Eto, he would have dragged the club to the court of arbitration. Even if he had a year to run in his contract, the club would have been made to pay through their nose adding to the already battered image of the club with the Eva case. I believe Mikel will have the support or FIFA, if he does then FIFA might as well push for the seclusion football from the Olympics. After all, it doesn't serve any concrete purpose since it has been watered down and an U23 tournament So what exactly would CAS or FIFA do in this instance? Would they force Conte to play Mikel? I mean, it isn't like Chelsea suspended or gave Mikel a fine or anything like that. The coach simply refused to play him. And there's nothing anybody can do about that or else the coach would resign. The only way you can change that is to make yourself so vital to the game that the coach would have no option but to play you if he wants to win. Do you think that Conte would've taken the same action if this was Diego Costa instead of Mikel? No, I don't think so. |

TheGoodJoe:
Mikel went through hell at Chelsea at the beginning of his career. He got unnecessary cards when he tackled. At the slightest chance to retrieve the ball, he got cards. Got sent off in some occasions. He reinvented himself and changed his playing style.
Yea, I remember that period. I think the racist English refs really made him a marked man after all the transfer saga between Man Utd and Chelsea over him. But still, I think he reinvented himself a little too much because every one that had played in the same position with him at Chelsea, from Michael Essien to Matic down to Kante, has played as a box to box midfielder. In the modern game, no coach wants a player who can only play on one side of the field ( that's the problem Mourinho had with Eden Hazard at Chelsea two season's ago, and that's the problem Pep has with Yaya Toure's game). |

tbaba1234: He is not in Conte's plans because he went to the Olympics. It is not Hullabaloo.. If he stayed with the club, he will be getting games. Even if he didn't go to the Olympics, he probably won't be playing much either. Unlike Mourinho, Conte doesn't play with DMs as destroyers. He prefers box to box midfielders in the mold of Kante and Matic. Hence, it's only a matter of time before he offloads Mikel even if he didn't went to the Olympics. Not many teams play with stagnant DMs any more....Mikel needs to become a box to box midfielder if he still wants to play for a top team in Europe. He plays that role for the Super Eagles, so I can't understand why he couldn't play that way for Chelsea, especially after Mourinho left. O pari |

lakesidepapa: That's the implication of not playing games in his club. let forget about all these going to Olympic hullabaloo, Mikel is not in Conte program. He should forget his loyalty with chelsea and find a club in europe next summer, his peak career is at stake True. Remember when some folks were claiming here on the forum that Conte plans to give Mikel a free role in Chelsea and I laughed them to the scorn. I was the first person here to predict that Conte would offload Mikel. The problem with Mikel is that he plays very timidly when he goes to Chelsea. If he could play the way he plays for the SE at Chelsea , then another top team in Europe would snap him up fast. Now, I heard that he's contemplating moving either to Turkey or to MLS. Personally, I think he's too young to be contemplating such moves. He's only 29, let him stay in Europe. He can definitely find a team in serie A, if no EPL team wants him. O pari |

TheSuperNerd: MAMELODI SUNDOWNS CONTACT RANGERS FOR OLYMPIC STAR EMMANUEL DANIEL
https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/11/Samm_3_Dec_3.jpg
We can exclusively report that recently crowned African champions Mamelodi Sundowns have contacted Rangers for Nigeria Olympic goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel.
“Sundowns wish to sign Emmanuel Daniel and they have already made contact with his club Rangers,” a top club source hinted.
“That also explains why several other goalkeepers have now reported to Rangers pre-season camp in Benin City with the latest being a goalkeeper of Asante Kotoko of Ghana.”
Daniel was the top choice as Nigeria went on to win bronze at the recent Olympics in Rio.
He shut out the more experienced Daniel Akpeyi, who incidentally plays in South Africa for PSL side Chippa United.
Former Nigeria U20 shot stopper Emmanuel Daniel has also been involved with the Super Eagles.
‘The Brazilians’, as Sundowns are known by their fans, are shopping for a young and capable cover for Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango, who is still sidelined after he injured his head in the CAF Champions League final at Zamalek of Egypt.
Former Nigeria winger Ejike Uzoenyi joined Sundowns two years ago from Rangers.
Source: http://africanfootball.com//news/663006/Mamelodi-Sundowns-contact-Rangers-for-Olympic-star-Emmanuel-Daniel I just can't understand why Emmanuel Daniel was not invited as a replacement for Carl Ikeme instead of Daniel Akpeyi. Daniel is a much better goalkeeper. He was solid in Rio. And not only that, he displaced Akpeyi to become the first choice goalkeeper. So it doesn't add up. O pari |

I agree that Mikel should start but I don't buy this idea that it's up to him to say whether he could last for 90 mins.
Rohr should be ready to replace Mikel as soon as he shows any signs of tiredness. He was out of it after about 60 mins in Ndola and I was tired that Rohr didn't consider subbing him. I hope the same thing doesn't repeat on Saturday because we can't afford to play minus one player.

This is very important information to Nigerians abroad who are thinking about starting a project back home.
