Boss this protest is far from smart move, if u ask me, I'll say some peeps with hidden agenda will end up using drivers to carry out dia operation. Lagos just went thro hell in the name of protest and anything called protest now is like beating a drum of war, anybody can take over that and before you know police station's will b burn and even ppl may lost their lives, include the policemen. Times r hard, we need to move smart, ask question, who's PEDPA? What are their agenda? You r busy going thro stress, one person is forming activist and before you know they form a cartel with fine oven's inside A/C office asking you to come and take renewal 6 months form of 5k before you can operate or monthly dues, think about power and how intoxicating it can be, think of someone having drivers data in their hands. Uber/Bolt does not have an office here or do you know any office? What they have is an ICT and customer care unit and they may choose to shift it to online. What's going to government house about? To do what precisely, people wey dey won burn, still they use oil rub body.

The best protest drivers can have is online, go offline and let them call for deliberation. One of the best way to obtain this is via awareness, real awareness and time base awareness. Attacking folks not registered under any union is another show of shame, it is honestly not by force, but a share of understanding and u don't force ppl against their will.

From information reaching me, I have concluded that these guys are "demons". You don't force people not interested into your association. With all the driver to driver witch-hunting, if these guys finally have the power they are looking for, they'll be worse than NURTW. if you are harassed rather than being enlightened and pleaded with on the need to join the strike, kindly report to the police. I heard some pedpa guys have opened shop at panti police using the police as cover for their nefarious act, don't be afraid, bring out your phone and record the harassment then prepare a powerful petition against them. UBER BOLT is a private venture. Instead, let's focus on our government to stabilize the economy

Five drivers, including the president of PEDPA, Idris Shonuga, are in police custody.

The police in Lagos have arrested some members of the Professional E-hailing Drivers and Private Owners Association (PEDPA), the umbrella body of e-hailing ride companies including Uber and Bolt, who had embarked on an industrial action over the services rendered by the platforms.

Five drivers, including the president of PEDPA, Idris Shonuga, were arrested on Tuesday.

Speaking on the arrest, Kolawole Aina, the Regional Vice President PEDPA, South-west, said the drivers were picked up by the police at the National Stadium in Surulere while they were gathering for a peaceful march to Alausa.



PREMIUM TIMES reported that Bolt and Uber drivers commenced strike on Monday to express their displeasure over the "unfavourable pricing" of the companies and its impact on their business.

Mr Shonuga, who listed the five-point demands of the drivers, had said the action would last for five days with a peaceful walk to the governor's office slated to hold on Tuesday.

Although Bolt and Uber reacted to the strike by the drivers saying their pricing template is favourable and they are open to feedback from drivers, the drivers said they needed to press their demands further.

"We need to press home our demands, we need the government to intervene in the matter. The prices of the e-hailing companies are not favourable, they are killing our drivers," Mr Shonuga said in a telephone interview on Monday.



Arrests

Speaking on the arrest, Mr Aina said the members were arrested the moment they got to the National Stadium to wait for others.

"We have not even started the protest, they (our members) just got there and were waiting for us. It means the police were waiting for us, they didn't even know what we were there for.

"People are agitating for something, the police are arresting them. We are complaining that people are dying, our people are getting lost, our investment is dying, we invest money, nothing to show it and we are working endlessly. The companies seem not to care," he said.

Mr Aina explained that four members were arrested initially and when the president, Mr Shonuga, heard about it, "he went to the police station to get his colleagues released and was also arrested".

The arrested drivers are detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti Lagos.



"We heard that it was the Commissioner of Police that gave the order to arrest us, they are saying they are waiting for his order to release. It is the order we are waiting for since yesterday and their families are on our neck.

"I don't know what we did that warrant detaining us. It seems the police are working with Uber and Bolt. Yesterday, we saw Uber staff here, today, we saw Bolt staff, what are they looking for?" he said.

Mr Aina said although they cannot confirm whether the e-hailing ride companies gave the police the go ahead to arrest them, "their visits to the station is suspicious."

Police react

Speaking on the arrest of the drivers, Muyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson said the drivers were arrested "not because of the protest but because they blocked the road."

"They demonstrated yesterday at Surulere, they used their vehicles and everything to block the road. When you have your protest, no matter how peaceful it is, by the time you block the road, no access, no thoroughfare for other people to use the road, you are causing fear and pandemonium and denying them of their rights too. That is why they were arrested," Mr Adejobi said.[img][/img]

He said the arrested drivers are in custody as the "matter is still in."

When asked whether they would be released anytime soon, Mr Adejobi said it is a bailable offence but the drivers would be charged to court.

"It is a bailable offence, they can go on bail but there is no how they won't be charged to court, but just because the court is not working now.

"The fact is they were not just arrested for protest, after all, the lawyers, NBA and Judiciary workers protested and nobody arrested them. If they want to protest, they should always know that protest must be peaceful, 'deprived' of violence and violating other people's right," the police spokesperson said.

. Bolt is not to be trusted. Forget the jargons they are telling U. Rating on Bolt is being manipulated by the system they put in place. Riders rating of drivers only has 30% effect.

When I was still very active on their platform, I found out 3 major things that keep rating high.

1. Never decline any Card trip: that is where they cash out.

2. Accept and do all trips going to good, bad and forbidden places

3. Kiss riders ass, dance to their tune, let them control you and order u around.

If drivers adhere to these 3 Major rules, rating will never be an issue at all.


But I thank God for INdriver. I am free like a bird. Mobolowowon !!!

I have a complaint to make concerning one of your officers by name OLAGOKE WASIU OLAIDE.

I had a bike accident last week Thursday when I was returning from the ministry of foreign affairs in Abuja. A Lexus 470 hit me and the bike and it was not even on a one way. It happened at Pako Bus stop Isolo. The hausa bikemen rallied around the drunk driver and told him to take us to the hospital. This happened at exactly 10:46 18th Feb 2021 Thursday. The driver then drove us to Okota police station. On getting there, the said officer OLAGOKE OLAIDE WASIU collected the sum of 3K from the hit and run driver and allowed him to go that very night. He then seized my international passport having searched my bag and sent me out of the station. I came the following day with my sister to retrieve my passport and he told me I will pay for the wind shield of the mans glass that was broken by the hausa boys. I asked him who will pay for my hospital bills which he said wasn’t his business. To cut the story short, I sent 15K to the hit and run driver who was present on the meeting held on the 19th feb last week Friday and the officer gave me my passport and still extorted 2K from my sister

Presently I am on the verge of having my right leg amputated. The hospital results and X Rays examination is here. I am supposed to have my leg cut this evening but I want to reach out to the Police Force Complaint Unit first.

I called the officer today and he insulted my mother and told me to go to the commissioner of police and nothing will happen

I once saw a new driver on BOLT with 4.6 rating on his third day at work with completed trips under 40. He was still safe because he hasn't reached the 40 RATED trips before their hammer would be used on him.

You're very correct. I started 6 weeks ago. My bolt ratings dropped the 3rd day to 4.7* after just 12 trips. It gradually increased to 4.75 to 4.85 to 4.95 to 4.97. when I started using Uber and ignored bolt for a while, ratings on bolt started going down. Uber ratings system is transparent unlike bolt that is shrouded in mystery

A Police Deputy Superintendent, Wagozie Igochukwu Godwin, has narrated that his conviction and sentencing to 16 years in prison was a result of a conspiracy.

Godwin, who spoke from prison claimed that even the court that convicted him found out that he was innocent of the charges against him, regretting that a former Minister of Finance was bent on his frustration.

The dismissed DSP, a kinsman of the Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, from Ogbodo-Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, noted that he was being victimised for what he does not know about.

It would be recalled that there was a robbery case at the Gwarimpa area of Abuja, where a niece to the said former Minister of Finance, was killed during a gun duel between the hoodlums and police personnel.

The police DSP, Godwin, who led a police operation on distress call in the area before the gun battle was fingered in the killing and was later sentenced to 16 years in prison for not showing enough remorse to the family of the late lady.

Narrating his ordeal, Godwin said that he was innocent of the murder charge against him, noting that instead of the court to discharge and acquit him, the court convicted him of not showing remorse.

He said: “It was on the 13th of October 2018 at about 9:45 pm, there was a distress call from a hotel in Gwarimpa. The manager of a hotel called that there is a robbery incident going on there. I have to send my boys to start going to the scene of the crime.

“The people called again, but before I could pick the call my DPO, CSP Ngozi Ubani Anosike intercepted the call. Since she intercepted it I could not intercept the call again.

“I proceed to the scene while she (DPO) also left at the same time for the same scene of the crime. On getting there God helping us, we arrested two suspects and we recovered two cars, a Mercedes and Corolla. We recovered one tracking device machine and we recovered the gun.”

“Why we were taking the suspects and exhibits to the office for further interrogation we discovered that the armed robbers were six in number. The DPO told me to wait that she has called the Commander SARS for back up to enable us to go after the hoodlums and recover other vehicles.

“On that process, they started driving out of the place. I then told the driver that was with me to turn round so we could go to the entrance of the place where they are taking the cars out.

“As soon as we started going, these boys opened fire on us. We have to park our car and run into the bush then into an uncompleted building there. The place is a lonely area and nobody was outside."

He narrated that a lady ran out of a car and was running towards the area the hoodlums were shooting from, adding that he later shouted that she had been hit by a bullet.

Godwin said: “There was a serious gun battle between the armed robbers and the police. All of a sudden a tinted Honda car drove in and hit a parked car on the road. When the Honda hit the car, we saw a girl run out of the place where the armed robbers were shooting us from. As soon as she came out of the car she ran back to that same place.

“While she was running back, soon she started shouting that she had been hit by a bullet. The duty of the police is to protect lives and property so what we now did was when the area became calm, I and my boy took this girl to Gwarimpa General Hospital.

“On getting there we made sure that the doctor commenced first aid on her because the doctor has already said the girl has lost a lot of blood. I left my boy with them and went looking for money for blood transfusion, but before I could come back to the hospital she has already gone.”

He narrated that he knew everything that happened, but wondered why all the people involved including the suspects and exhibits recovered were released and he was the only person being victimised.

Godwin said: “The DPO came to me said we should go to her office, on entering her office we saw the former Minister of Finance, Esther Nenadi Usman, and two others.

“Immediately we entered, my DPO told the woman that this is the person that killed your daughter. The woman asked me what happened I explained to her. The next thing they said we should surrender our rifles, we surrendered that same night, they took it from us.

“On Monday they said we should look for money for autopsy, the DPO said I should look for money for the autopsy that I will be refunded. I raised money. The autopsy was carried out.

“They brought an independent investigator who carried out a forensic test and discovered that the gun that killed the girl is a Barita Pistol. Me and my boys, non of us handle Barita Pistol.

“The DPO went as far as altering the movement of arm register. She collected the register and gave it to them to enable her to actualize her plans.”

He noted that the matter has nothing to do with ENDSARS or police brutality, adding that the Minister has moved to the panel to indict him on the same matter.

He said: “To my greatest surprise, even as I am in prison here, the woman again took my name to the EndSARS panel.

“Some people have told her that this is not SARS case, but with her connection, she said she must deal with me. She is aligning with my DPO to do all of this. My DPO has been influenced by money. They are working to ensure I do not come out of prison.

“What is happening is the oppression of the poor by the rich. The woman claims she has contacts. She boasted that she will use her contact to deal with me. The woman is using the case to get sympathy. The late girl is her niece but she claims she is her daughter. This issue has nothing to do with EndSARS.”
