Ebubu:Yeye talk. Those that Igbo people made peace with,do you support them? You are just looking for an excuse to justify why an Igbo man shouldn't be president. The fact that Igbo people rejected Rochas should be the more reason why Igbophobic people should like him. But nope. Instead he is still being treated like his people. Yorubas hated OBJ, yet the rest of Nigeria lined behind him in 1999. Igbos not liking Rochas shouldn't stop other Nigerians from supporting him, if truly they want equity and justice for SE. |
Sinistami: ![]() Read this your post again, and tell me it makes sense to you that wrote it. |
wealthtrak:Can you quote where the white men recorded that the kings and slave traders of Bonny were Ijaw. I await your answer. |
Parachoko:IYC and INC are Political franchise and not ethnic organizations. How else do we have Edoid speakers (Epie-Attisa Engenni and Degema), Ibibiod speakers (Ogbia, Andoni, Abua,Odual) and Igboid speakers ( Opobo and Bonny) as part of the organization? Nope Binis don't have non Bini speakers in their organizations, not even Igboid speakings Igbanke who share LGA with Binis. IYC and INC are conduits for oil protection Politics. Smaller ethnicities in Niger Delta join them to benefit. |
Parachoko:Why should they? IYC and INC are merely Political franchise for sharing of oil Money. |
Well his Ikwerre scam that he planned to use by claiming Igbo failed. He probably have done his homework well. Good for him, because he could have been disgraced by Ndiigbo. |
blinking001:What bridge is there to build. In the South, SW and SS have all had a bite at the presidency. SE is the only remaining zone since 1999. Rather than come together and in unity and equity support a credible South East candidate in both APC and PDP, SW say they want it to be thrown open for all to fight for, while at same time dubiously claiming that the North should be out of the race. There will only be two outcomes here: 1. The SW stops it's greed and unite behind a SE presidency to provide a comon Southern front built on fairness and equity. 2.The race be left open to all, including the North, which will eventually see the North win. For now, option 2 is what is happening. Ndiigbo and SE will not accept the dubious "Southern presidency" the SW is canvassing for, because we know their plans. If SW will not accept option 1 for equity, fairness and Justice, then it has no right to ask the North not to contest,in which case, option 2 is the only available option. |
Osagyefo98:Fact is that history is a science and bends to the laws of logic and rationality. You don't say illogical things and call it history. There is a thick line between history and myth. Ogba are entitled to their own myths, but not their own history. History like all sciences is subject to rational analysis, myths are not. |
sheanzy:They are all Igbos. The difference is administrative. |
aribisala0:The spot that toll gate was located is still called Toll gate juncture up until today. It is around Akegbe ugwu section of the road in Enugu. Infact, an aunt of mine use to work as a cashier in that toll gate those days. |
aribisala0:Stop talking nonsense. There was a tollgate in PH-Enugu express road until OBJ ended it as well. You people will stay in your zone and be talking what you don't know. |
Good one. We don't even need all these stats to know we are doing relatively well in South East. |
onuman:Stupid talk Igbo is Igbo. Those groups are not Igboid. |
Ekealterego:You have a snippet of the Darker 1905 book? Post it here and the other main Opobo and Bonny thread. |
I think this belongs here. https://www.jstor.org/stable/1778485?read-now=1&refreqid=excelsior%3Af5f1e99ce420241777bf54f7579fd5d7&seq=31#page_scan_tab_contents

Ekealterago. Another good material here. https://www.jstor.org/stable/1778485?read-now=1&refreqid=excelsior%3Af5f1e99ce420241777bf54f7579fd5d7&seq=31#page_scan_tab_contents I marked the relevant part. "Opobo and Bonny Ibos". Yet another independent author Ijaws are going to hate in addition to Basden, Captain Crow, William Baike, Arthur Glynn, we now have A.E Kitson. The list will keep growing because we have the truth on our side.

IBO: Southern Nigeria - some considerations of its Structure, People and Natural History A. E. Kitson c.1913 The Geographical Journal - v.41 The Ibo tribe is potentially a very powerful one, from which much can be expected with consolidation, the spread of modern ideas and careful, strictly just direction. The people are observant, reflective thinkers, and rapid actors, with a remarkably keen and true sense of justice and determination to get it. They possess strong individuality. Like the Yorubas, they are, as a people, honest, intelligent, industrious, cleanly, hospitable, and humorous, though more emotional, artistic, and musical. They are distinctly warlike, especially the branches east of the Niger. In some districts every town is surrounded by a trench, wall, and belt of thick bush; in some cases with also an outer line of gun pits. In others each wall-girt house has its own fighting tower — storeyed and loopholed — commanding the entrance. This condition of the country reflects strongly the character of the people. As agriculturists after intelligent native methods, they are of a high order. It is a perfect picture and a revelation to see their farms when in their full wealth of verdure. There is no doubt that when settled conditions arrive the people will raise much produce for other than local markets. ... Most tribes have a love of music and a crude knowledge of art, but the Ibo stands pre-eminent, his innate musical ability manifesting itself in various ways. I have often enjoyed listening to the sweet melody, heartily sung by a group of young girls and children; to the soft chant of my garrulous carriers; to the simple but sweetly perfect dance-song of a swaying circle of women of Ebo, celebrating the killing of a crocodile; to the rhythmic, sonorous, and harmonious war-song of naked Ezzi [savages]. There are various kinds of musical instruments; among them some of the dulcimer type, but with wooden, cane, or palm plates; some like harps and rude violins; others like pipes and flutes. The Ibos and the Binis have distinct artistic ability. Many of the Ibo branches adorn their mud-walled houses, wooden doors, shrines, and playgrounds with neat modellings, paintings, and carvings of natural objects and geometrical designs. The people of the Ugep district, east of the Cross river, have fine examples of carved tree-trunks and blocks of stone. ... Though most natives trade, the principal travelling traders are Hausas and Aros by land-transport; and Lagosians, Jekris, Brass men,Opobo and Bonny Ibos, and Efiks by canoes. Iron smelting was largely done before bar-iron was imported. Yorubas still do so at Bode, Ijegun, Iporin, Odo Ogun, etc. The ore is magnetite, occurring in schists and in dykes of granite and pegmatite. A. E. Kitson The Geographical Journal - v.41 1913 |
JANK23H:You are ridiculous. ![]() |

Lol! Grasping at straws now, are we not? https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/in%20the%20neighborhood%20of
|
JANK23H:Haha! Nope. Map clearly delineated Igbo land. Basden said that Igbos were slaves in the "Neighborhood of Bonny", you are the one with comprehension issue. Either way, there was never a time he said that Bonny people were Ijaws. He clearly showed where Ijawland is. And he made it obvious that Abua, Ogbia, Obulom, Epie-Attisa, Andomiy, etc are not Ijaw. |
Graysons:Finima is only but a small insignificant part of Bonny. We already know how the real Bonny and Opobo people feel about Ijaws. They constant and persistent rejection of Ijaw Language despite the fraudulent Alagoa best efforts, says all. |
Graysons:Bonny and Opobo people have consistently rejected your Ijaw language while tightly guarding and holding unto their native Igbo language. Your days are numbered. |
JANK23H:Alabo. Your Ijaw brother admitted that Basden is the all and all to settle this case as Basden claimed in the above attached report by your brother that other research done on Niger Delta were poor, which should include your Kolle Sigmund last resort. When Basden was done reviewing all previous literature on the subject matter, he ended up with the below as the authentic map of Igboland with Ijawland clearly designated to the West of Igboland. This topic was done and dusted long ago, even JANK23H shamefully left the stage when he saw he had lost the intellectual battle on this . Basden he was hoping to ride on to land grab on Igbo territories of Bonny and Opobo, rammed a sharp sword into his entrails with that map. You too should rest. Since you unlike JANK23H are not interested on intellectual debate, your mantra has always been "come and claim it physically". You should just chill and try and fortify yourself physically against 40million plus strong Igbo nation. Because when we finally win Bonny and Opobo in international court post Nigeria and you dare stand on our way, we will not only claim back our territories, we will occupy yours as punitive measures too.

gidgiddy:How can you enforce that with your "No Election" charade in Igboland? |
helinues:I don't know what you are talking about. Igbo musicians always add Igbo to their songs. Wizkid has had to use Igbo words too in his songs, Davido and co too. |
helinues:Tekno has Igbo in his nah. "Nwanyiom nwanyiom a, I na agbakam ishi!" That's a lyric in his hit song "Pana". Psquare? He sang "Ifunanya", and constantly inputs Igbo like "E don happy happen, obele ego" etc in their songs. |
helinues:You are not Igbo and so couldn't have been in an Igbo only gathering before. All Igbo town unions scattered all over Nigeria conduct their business and proceedings not just in Igbo Language but in their specific Igbo dialect. |
helinues:This is not true. Igbos naturally would like to carry a non Igbo in their midst along. So when an Igbo meet a fellow Igbo, and there are non Igbos in their midst, he wouldn't want to make the non Igbo to feel left out by switching to Igbo language to communicate with his fellow Igbo. He will ensure that he keeps the language in English so as to carry the non Igbo person along. A typical Yoruba doesn't have this social intelligence. I lived in Yorubaland for 2yrs plus and I can't count how many times they switched to Yoruba language once they meet each other, leaving me in the cold and not giving a f.uck about how I feel. An Igbo is proud of his language but would never do such. And this is what some of you translate to Igbos not being proud of their language. |
BKayy:Very stupid topic. Even in the North, Igbos form a very close community and make it difficult for a non Igbo to live in such neighborhood through high price of real estate in such area. Non Igbos know they could get same land in different area of the state for half the price being demanded from them in Igbo dominated area. Not being able to speak Igbo is a personal/family problem and not a societal problem for Igbos. Any Igbo man who is unfortunate to have come from such a family should work hard individually to learn Igbo language and stop generalizing the issue. Igbo is spoken in alaba, Computer village and all major markets in Lagos. |
BKayy:Exactly. This is my experience too. |
BKayy:Also Igbos tend to band together. In the sense that we look for a particular part of foreign city we find ourselves in and form an Igbo community there where all your neighbors would be Igbo and you could hear Igbo being spoken even in the streets. I think it's not actually a problem. It's being exaggerated. |
I have relatives born and raised in USA who speak impeccable Igbo. I think it's more of a problem with Igbos raised in non Igbo parts of NIGERIA than Igbos in outside NIGERIA. |
