TheNaijan:Hello, did I hear you say Jonathan is better than Obasanjo? Can you please elaborate on how and where Jonathan has surpassed Obasanjo? I don't live in Nigeria, but I have been opportuned to visit Nigeria as time permitts me to. I visited Nigeria during Obasanjo, Yaradua, and Jonathan times, and also comparing the economical indices, I would rate Obasanjo very much above Jonathan. If not for death, Yaradua could have probably best Obasanjo, but definitely not Jonathan. The thing I hate most about Obasanjo is his unforgiving nature, in that area, well, Jonathan indeed has really beaten him hands down considering how he and his minions have been fighting seen and unseen enemies. |
jidestroud:Aburo, pele! Can I ask you something: Se o ti de'be? If yes, then, o se mi laanu pupo lati wi fun e wipe: Obo ti mu je! |
macklef:Ashewo! O fe tomu pelu style abi? You better take time, wa humble if any of the girls lay hands on you. Ma dan wo rara. |
celeron40:Young soja, ki lo npa e lerin? Attention ⚠! Everything for Naija is either world class or ultra modern, the best of the best, but when you see what others got, enu a ya e. Salutes from the old soja. Espirit du corps. |
celeron40:Indeed, it's in a class of its own though. Enu e bi enu World class. |
YungwizzzyPt7:If your mommy is ON native, what's she IN? Perhaps she's not wearing anything? |
omenka:If oil price crashes further, the next thing these idiots would do is to go borrow and put Nigeria in bigger debt trouble. I can bet on it that, that' what your coordinating minister will suggest to the brainless president. |
buoye1:AYILALA, what's that? Is that an Arabic name? Ki Olorun de ile fun eniti o ti ku. Amin |
bebe2:Young woman, I understand your embarassment. Nevertheless, it's wrongly placed, because there's certainly no state in Nigeria that is called "Dutse State". There's however Jigawa state (formerly part of Kano) with it's capital town (not city) being DUTSE. Now, can I see you blush? |
eleojo23:Dont make the politicians as scape-ewure jare. Its about the whole society. Nigerians are generally unruly, less cultured due to societal decadence. Nairaland is a reflection of Nigeria. Censorship of harmless words, generally self-righteousness, abusive, ignorant, and purportly godfearing, but evidently ungodly populace. |
adrelanine:So Jordan and Qatar are in the far east now? What countries make up the near East (Middle East) again? |
Osahon7:Aburo, me too follow you laugh for Mandarin. If war start for Naija, I don pass the age wey dem go come wan enlist me by force for Soja. Na de small pikans dem wey dey sell dem destiny for a pot of asaro olororo na him go suffer am. |
gboss4sure:What makes you think they share information with APC? Does this government appears to have intelligence? I doubt! |
Osahon7:Na lie! Corruption no be problem for Naija. Abi na the small small stealings you dey call corruption? The federal govt of Naija is trying. You no See as Naija has been transformed into Aljana and paradise? Make unna dey enjoy fresh air joo. |
igbsam:There's nothing like ayilala. What we have is Aiyelala. Don't bastardize Ilaje word. |
HARTZIV:Geehrter Herr Hartz, wie gehts Ihnen? Haben Sie nicht aus Ihrer Spanienfeten genuges Jungfleisch gehabt? |
estyvino:That you fought to destroy Apartheid does not give you the freedom to disregard their law. The way you behave in Nigeria is not the norm in most part of the world. Lawlessness is frowned upon in all decent societies. Someone would have been held responsible for this brainless deed if Nigeria had a responsible government or institutions. Even in Nigeria, there are legislation regarding how much you can take into or out of the country without declaring it. I understand Nigeria is also a signatory to international anti money laundering agreement. OBJ, se o ng ri nkan ti o ko wa si? |
nku5:Well, it's so easy to find out really. Just use the search function. I wont say more than that. |
fr3do:Because knowledge is more powerful than a barrel of gun. Wars have been won without firing a shot. |
dada01: As much as I disagree with some of ur arguments, knowing fully well that there has never been a transparent government in the history our country compare to the government of the day.In what ways has the government of Goodluck been transparent? Maybe deception is transparency to you just like small small stealing does not connotes corruption in Goodluck's sense of reasoning. All the committees set up, what are their results, where and when have they been implemented. Goodluck's government make policies mostly to punish the already suffering masses, and to enrich his supporters and cronies. I don't blame him much, he has no capacity to change how this country is run. And I 'm afraid that the future is really not bright for this country when people like Jonathan, Akpabio, Fayose, Atiku, Wamakko etc. form the ruling class, and politically, Ibos can not see eyes to eyes with Yorubas, neither Itsekiris with Ijos etc. for them to form a united front against injustice. The way towards a better Nigeria begins with me and especially you that are younger than forty five. The beginning of a change towards a better Nigeria is when the Nigerian police is totally overhauled, and institutions become empowered, and do not depend on the persons of the executive to perform their statutory duties... |
nku5: I never saw beaf diss any tribe on NL. Unless u saw reno do that elsewhere. Here we saw eko ile play that dirty game to whip up support from yorubas for tinubu and apcSo the nonsense he wrote about Ilaje people was a praise in your own reasoning abi? I bet showing pictures of suffering Nigerians to denigrate some ethnic groups is also a noble thing I suppose? |
keyzid: Aku odun ominira ooooo... Though, to type 54 for yoruba na wahalaEyin omode wonyi, kini won tile nko yin n'ile iwe te nlo gan paapaa? Ki lo soro lati ko "merinlelaadota"? semitunde: Twisting the fact to somehow show that USA was part of our success story on Ebola. When the truth was that they actually didn't want to help, and probably quietly wanted us to fail so they can gloat about our helpless situation.Nigerians can be ungrateful atimes. Americans don't want to help you, yet a lot of volunteers from the same America came down to help you set up the Ebola centres. Do you think if these pioneers have been gutless like a lot of your Nigerian doctors, you would be here praising Nigeria? The people that encouraged Nigerians to help Nigerians are in my eyes the people to whom the greatest credit is due. The survivors of the epidemic have corroborated what the NYT has written, even though you think they are biased. BTW, Lagos, nay, Nigeria is a sprawling slum by all decent standard. Abami eda, second bass o jare! Suffer suffer for world - na your fault be dat. |
Deesick7: Yes Nigeria is not perfect just like every oda country out dere....we av our woes but we have weathered some thunderstorms in recent times n we r better than most third world countries like Yemen,Syria,Ethiopia n almost all d countries in Africa n d Arab world.Atleast we r not war torn.....yet. So lets celebrate wat we have even if its for dis 24hrs n curse on d rest we don't av tomorrow n d days to come.#No nation is perfect. In what way are you better than most of all the countries in Africa, and the Arab World (third world countries)? You better don't disgrace yourself. Even Palestine that is occupied by the State of Israel, and in constant warlike struggles has better hospitals and personnel than Nigeria to just mention one area alone. BTW, they have no oil! Or Yemen where electricity is more constant than Nigeria. You should visit Ethiopia, and see how grand self imposed dellusion is. It's only someone that has never left the shores of Nigeria that would place Nigeria ahead of Syria in terms of development. Syria may not be a democratic country, but they had/have a better standard of living than Nigeria. Their capital Damascus, is the oldest city that has existed continously in the world, and before the crisis, people trouped to Syria to see the ancient fascinations. Do you still want to talk about Iran, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco? In term of corruption, disorganisation, lawlessness, Nigeria is competing in the league of the States like Haiti, Central Afrique Republique, Congo Kinshasha, Uganda, Mali etc. despite her wealth. What can you get done in Nigerian institutions without them wanting bribe from you? You enter this jakujaku airport that was arguably facelifted with hundred of billions of Naira and what awaits you? Corruption, decay, stench... You better don't expose yourself. |
HNosegbe: The incursion of the military into government was the most unfortunate event in Nigeria's history. We would have gone much further if we didn't have the misfortune of being ruled by the men in uniform, corruption notwithstanding. Yeah, the military had no business in politics especially the evil genious Babangida and the Satan incarnate Abacha, but without the miliatry interfering in 1966, Nigeria would have ceased to exist by now. The imposition of Akintola on the West by the NPC and NCNC and the illegal conviction of Awolowo would have led to a total break down of law and order eventually. The mistake Nzeogwu made was to kill the masterminds of the political lawlessness in Nigeria at the Centre, in the North, West, and Midwest, but let those from the East off the hook. And then Ironsi succumbed to the idea of his folks to make Nigeria a unitary state. We are still suffering from that single mistake till today. |
0merta: There were a lot of better-qualified Yoruba Professors and Scholars than the then Igbo VCs of the Universities of Ibadan and Lagos, but an Igbo man was the ceremonial President then and he presided over the appointments of his kinsmen. You correctly answered him. This is one of the reasons that led to Akintola saying that the AG can not afford to continue to be in the opposition. Zik used his position to install his kinsmen in all important federal institutions in the South. He singlehandedly turned the NCNC into an Eastern party. That Ibos were made VC of the federal universities in the West does not mean they were the best qualified. They got those positions through nepotism. When people say Yoruba are tribal, I laugh them off, and ask them some really insightful questions, and they are put to shame thereafter. The Yorubas are one of the most hospitable people if not the most hospitable in Nigeria. The Yorubas have the penchant for going extra mile to please strangers. |
erunz: @Op Guy u are more clueless for not being able u understand what the president meant by that statement. When u are in Lagos u are almost in Nigeria meaning Lagos have virtually all ethnic groups in Nigeria, Living in it. I.e Lagos is a mini Nigeria. See as u come dey embarrass urself all cos of hatred. MtewwwwwwYes, your explanation might be what Jonathan meant, but that statement he made is totally wrong, and the OP's question is completely justified. I have listened to a lot of Dr. Jonathan's speech and interviews, mostly very dull I must say: And in no instance has the guy shown himself to be a learned person that he perhaps is. The statement would have been more pardonable without that word "almost", because Lagos is indeed part and parcel of Nigeria. @OP Could you possibly send me a link to the video sequence or the topic he was addressing in the speech? Thanks very much in appreciation of your troubles. |
fkaz: http://www.channelstv.com/2014/09/29/synagogue-building-collapse-controlled-demolition-emmanuel-tv/Sina gogu, abeg give to Kesari oun ti Kesari. Give to God what belongs to God. Walspring: I can see alot of foolish fools saying rubbish here because they cant think at all and they only read and comment. Lets leave sentimental here and we should ask ourselves the real question cos i dont like politics and you guys should stop unnecessary argument and say the factsHow would you classify your incoherent rant above? You could make your argument without resulting to insult you know. And by the way, in which constitution or other law did you read that the state government in Nigeria has control over the security agencies? Securing that premises is not the duty of the Governor, but the commissioner of police of that state, who as you may now know is answerable to the IGP. |
Opiosko: I don't think u followed this matter well. Pls try and read the parties argument..... There is a saying that "the court/judge must not only do justice, but must ensure that it must seem that justice has been done". The presiding judge should not have fixed his judgment day in such a way to make an appeal impossible before the inaguration day since his judgment is not final on the case. The court should not be seen as favouring one party otherwise it's not justices but robbing Peter to pay Paul. All over the world, Judges have the liberty to decide when to hear, to continue to hear, and to give their verdicts on a proceeding they preside over. If anyone feels the time set by the presiding judge is unreasonable, and your lawyers can't convince the Judge to reschedule the appointment, I think the law also provide an avenue to seek a restraining injunction from a competent court. You can even get the case withdrawn from the particular judge, if you can proof that he was biased in deciding the date of the hearing. At least that's how it's in a country that is not ridden with lawlessness as we have in Nigeria. Soon, everyone that's financially capable will have their own personal army, and lawlessness will multiply. |
edogirl2: Actually, with over 30 years untarnished reputation fighting for our human rights (me, you, and everyone else), I would like to think that Mr Falana is to be respected for his contribution to our life as a nation.Young woman, if there's indeed a God, I see no reason why he shouldn't bless you for the intellectual sanity displayed in the above quoted statement. Nigeria is a pathetic country full of pathetic people. People only think about their stomach, and the result is the mess the country's in. |
Profcamsey: I am not much into nollywood but I have watched both Alakada(Toyin Ahimaku) n Jenifa(Funke Akindele). The two lead actresses in this movie really tried, but I ll go for Alakada. Dat movie was fun from d 1st scene to the last especially Part 2n3. Personally, I think Return of Jenifa was overhyped due to large source of sponsorship and the use of many stars. I don't I really learn a lesson from Jenifa, a runs girl who actually made it. Jenifa character was too fake and she over do things (because I dont know why her intonations/pronunciation didnt change) but Alakada looks natural and I realised that there are people like that in our schools and society. You have to see Toyin in other movies she's always funny. Chau ChauClicked on Alakada to watch it on youtube now, and I was already put off right away by that woman in the "intro" that can't pronouce "R". BTW, Jenifa2 was really overhyped! I bought the film, and was disappointed real good, although it still made me laugh. I can't just bring myself to like the life of lies of Yetunde. So, it's Jenifa jare! |
