What are the legal criteria to scale through that judgement? What makes you certain that you will scale through, and the person that is worshipping the Gods of his ancestors will not? What day is that going to be? What is the judge still waiting for? In a matter of uncertainty, it is better to apply reason appropriately. |

jblow99: Attention all in copy!!! Governor Akinwunmi Ambode Honourable Justice O.O. Atilade Honourable Justice O.O. Oke Honourable Justice K.O. Corruption of the Judicial system in Ikorodu by Land Speculators to the detriment of the Poor masses
I will like to use this opportunity to bring to the notice of the Lagos State Government and the entire Judicial system within the state of the ongoing corruption of the Judicial system and the subversion of justice within Ikorodu Local Government Area. It is a known fact within the local government that the Land Speculators popularly known as ”Omo onile” are fond of taking cases to court for owners of lands in residential areas to come and repurchase the land because they formerly paid to their fathers or Grandfathers so it is their turn to benefit from the purchase of such lands. The latest one going on in Ikorodu is the Aga (Gbasemo Area) which covers a wide expanse of land and also an old residential area. These particular set of Omo Onile’s have gone to court to request that the land in the entire Area must be repurchased and people must pay them because the land was bought from their fathers.
They got this strange judgement that residents should pay a sum of N450, 000 each on a plot of land .The reason why they get these kind of judgement all the time is that there is huge CORRUPTION WITHIN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM in Ikorodu. These judgements are against the laws of contract and sales. We have so many people in these area some of who are retired civil servants, serving civil servants and first class state citizens like Justice K.O Alogba , Honourable Lanre Balogun and the likes.
Now the question is • How will a Judge issue this kind of judgement on people who purchased lands legally? • Where in the law of contracts and sales does it say lands should be repurchased from the children of the owners?
• This is now the culture in Ikorodu, what is the justice commission doing about this?
• What protection is Government giving to the poor masses who voted to bring them to power?
• This trend has been going on and the Government of Lagos State has been quiet on this, does this mean this will be the way to go for everyone in the state? • How will the retired public servants be able to pay this money?
• This will definitely lead to harassment, how will the people be protected from this land speculators? Conclusively, I call on the Governor of Lagos State to urgently look into this matter as part of what APC promised us in Lagos State is protection and not oppression and injustice.
#SAVEIKORODUNOW#SAVEIKORODUNOW#SAVEIKORODUNOW#SAVEIKORODUNOW#SAVEIKORODUNOW#SAVEIKORODUNOW My advice is that the affected people form an association, and get a good lawyer to fight the issue at the law court. This is the reason it's important to always get your land duely surveyed and registered with the government. |

What Obasanjo did to Jonathan was Jonathan's own doing. Jonathan is a disloyal and incompetent individual. And he listened to idiotic opinions from people who have no knowledge about human administration which is about building bridges. Regardless of his shortcomings, in today's Nigeria, Obasanjo is arguably the most influential human being. |

bushdoc9919: Marco Polo visited in the 12 th century.
By the 19th century....China was so backward that they were being ravaged by the more advanced world powers.
By 1973.,....per capita GDP of China was less than that of Sierra Leone.
As for South Korea....they were colonized by the Japanese in 1910. By 1950...they were wrecked by the proxy war called the Korean war. By 1961....they were backward.
What both countries did...was invest in their education (And key to that was the raising of standards...their equivalent of SSCE is very difficult to pass. Plus..they had to modernize their language.). At the same time...they invested in their infrastructure.
Today....both countries are advanced.
Key to that advancement was that they did not rest on past glories....but learned from the whites how to do innovation and technology. Yes they were glorious in the past...and they read and wrote. So also were many Nigerian tribes....a dutch visitor to the Oba of Edo's court in the 17th century wrote glowing reviews . And Hausa was being written down by the 16th century. And the Yorubas had an advanced empire.
We Africans better be willing to learn. We must industrialize. No one would do it for us. Well, despite all what you listed, both countries were still far ahead of Africa (the whole continent) in 1960. China and Korea have had their woes which was as a result of civil service decadence (government), but they were still not in the league of Nigeria in 1960. China and Korea were already manufacturing hubs for heavy machinery albeit low quality, but they were still better developed. That China at a time had a lower GDP per capital than Sierra Leone does not mean they were less developed than Sierra Leone. What it means is that there were more poor people on average in China than Sierra Leone at that time. And it's not a surprise, because China has had to feed a population of more than a billion people for quite a while now.
Nonetheless, you are on point regarding investing in education. Nigeria generally need a complete overhaul. I doubt we have people that have the foresight to implement the neccessary political and economical reforms in the corridors of power. |

We sowed the seeds of our destruction by deciding to become reliant on oil for our revenue.
Now....oil prices have fallen...and our savings account is getting depleted so that we can buffer the naira.
Either we keep on doing that...until the savings account is empty....or we devalue.
I think it is high time we did what South Korea did and focus on education, innovation and industrialization. After all...they were far behind us in 1960. So also was China....and now today both of them are ahead of us.
Oil dependency is the cause....not IMF, not Ngozi. China and South Korea were not behind you in 1960. Infact, their civilizations is thousands of years ahead of you. They have had learned people who could read, write and formulate policies in their languages for thousands of years. They have been in the forefront of Engineering for ages. Even the Europeans were surprised at the level of Chinese development when they first arrived. Get a book on Marco Polo's travel please. There's a reason China is a permanent member of the UN security council, and that decision to give them veto power was made at the end of world war 2 when Nigeria and almost all of Africa except Ethiopia, Liberia, Egypt and South Africa were still vassals of the European colonial powers. |

Sunnybobo3: And what did the SS and SE get for voting massively for Obasanjo in the first term that made them vote massively for him again for second term?
Keep on living in amnesia. If Obasanjo did not give the SS anything as you claim, which really is untrue, atleast he gave you the deserved 13%. Goodluck would not have been capable of that feat. Besides, a lot of the IPPs that were commissioned under this regime were partly inaugurated under Obasanjo regime.
Goodluck was simply an incapable man. A very good quality of a leader is the capacity to accomodate diverging opinions which Goodluck did not possess. The man was given an opportunity, a well oiled organisation, and he blew it. If people sensibly look into the matter, even if one can not absolve Amaechi of stubborness, the biggest portion of the blame remains with Goodluck. He may have had luck, but definitely neither the sense of governance nor the capacity to lead.
I used to think it could not get worst than Shagari's Administration, but Jonathan's has beaten that record. A very incompetent and wasteful government. |

Where in my post did I declare that the place of women is in the Kitchen? Also, how did I disrespect women? If ya brain is dysfunctional and blinkered - go sort it out. Nah, I'm not "staying" in any country - I live where I was born and raised, you mug. And my sentiment is shared by the overwhelming majority. The problem with most of you after getting off the African voyage is that you think being "modern" is about buying into useless propaganda, without proper analysis of cause-and-effect, and why certain order/things have to be maintained - to avoid chaos.
Madeleine Albright's record as US Secretary of State is well documented, as a war hawk, who thought every problem should be solved militarily. Her sins are out there for all to see. From her preventing a military rescue mission during the Rwanda genocide at the UN as US Ambassador to the UN; to her hawkish critique of Colin Powell and questioning him about his non-military approach of solving problems; to the Balkan wars and the genocide committed by Croatia in which she supervised; to all the problems she caused in the Middle East. So, what's sterling about her performance than being an architect of sending the angels of death everywhere - with a mindset that military intervention is the solution to everything? She's everything a leader holding a sensitive position should never be! The blood of those Rwandans are on her hands!
And which of the Queens you listed ever acted without inputs/supervision from a king/prince? Even Queen Elizabeth II consults Prince Philip before making any decision. You might want to throw Margaret Thatcher in there, and how she destroyed this country, by tearing it apart - into North/Scotland Vs. South with her English favouritism (bigot) and hawkish ways. The country is yet to recover from the disunity she created, and will most likely never recover.
Understanding issues isn't just about throwing names around cos you read about them. Get a better understanding of what transpired - and stop spouting nonsense I never posted.
It's a fvcking Sunday - don't piss me off. Shymex, maybe it's you that has comprehension problem. If I may ask you, what is the topic of discussion? What is your postulation about women occupying important positions? Why don't you go and read your submission about women.

I want you to think about the quality of Life that the US offers and not the slave wages being paid in Nigeria. Nigeria jst survived a Civil War by whiskers because God intervened through the US and Britain but there is still tension in the Air.
Just sit down and think about all you have to gain by moving to a more developed and stable country.
May God give you the wisdom to make a good decision. This is not an arguement. If every abled brains leave Nigeria, who will develop the land? I dont think you want that country to continously being ruled by thugs and lawless people right?
Anyway, to the topic: staying indoor for 6 months is not an easy thing. You have to be strong willed and very disciplined to endure the "incacerration". I'd suggest depending on which area your sister stays in the States to travel in autumn. It would be easier to endure staying indoor during the cold months.

SirShymexx: Lol. There is absolutely nothing sexist about saying women shouldn't be given a free hand (without proper guidance by men) to control very sensitive positions, which require emotional calmness.
Hillary Clinton was an epic failure as the US secretary of state, and will go down as the worst ever in US history. The only reason why Angela Merkel is decent is because she's part of a coalition government and while she's the face of it, she doesn't run the show. Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the German manufacturing industry pull the plugs behind the scene when it comes to how Germany deals with foreign policy/affairs - while other folks run the show within Germany.
Letting women control certain positions is a recipe for disaster. Madeleine Albright was also a woman, indeed the first woman to occupy that post, and before that, she was the US Ambassador to the UN, and I do not recollect that she failed. I also do not see how Hilary failed as a foreign secretary, maybe you can mention some of her failures if you dont mind?
BTW, that country you're staying has brought up women with indellible mark in world history. Let's me just remind you of a few of them for the sake of time: The virgin queen, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth II, Margaret Thatcher etc.
Performance is not about gender. Where there's a will and capacity of brain, there will also be impact. Goodluck as far as I know is not a woman, but has performed abissmally as a leader. |

If anyone remembers, one of the first things OBJ did when he became President was to be jumping up and down across continents.
Nigeria at this point in time needs a leader that will lead and stir this ship. Address issues immediately from the front, rather than flying across countries to France, Germany etc.
I believe and trust Buhari and I know he will do the right thing. Sort out some of the mess at home and all these honoring invitations can be done subsequently. God bless Nigeria. Obasanjo needed to be "jumping" around because Nigeria had even a very bad reputation then than now. Besides, the debt was hanging on our head like the sword of Damocles.
