I promised not to comment again ,but I just couldn't help it

Check this nonsense - I'm quoting the conspirators (notice how they link seemingly unrelated events & come to a conclusion) -

"Alqaeda is run by the CIA(which has been in existence before Obama was born),they are destabilising Africa including Kenya.

Kenya is being run by Obama's 'relative' called Odinga (kenya PM from Obama's dad's tribe but no blood relation ),Odinga has 2 children -one called Raul (like castro's brother),the other called Winnie -after winnie mandela- the woman that led a kidnapping ring in South Africa. And Obama's cousin (Odinga') is sponsoring Islamofacists in Somalia !!!

Now tell me how does this make ANY sense??

Somehow,Obama 'sponsored' Odinga (a Born again christian much older than him) ,to win the elections in Kenya,so he could 'aid' the terrorists in Somalia !!!

I tell you again - Be wise ! These are POLITICIANS playing mind games.

OLAADEGBU,I have taken time(wasted time I might add) to listen to the 'Obama Deception' and it just as I had thought.

Its full of innuendos,half-truths & false assumptions.

Its the same lies & deceits been peddled by the 'Tea party' movement.

I have listed at least 5 such conspiracies that have existed since the 70s.

These consipracies can never point at anything, but at the same time accuse everyone.

Obama will likely win a second term and bow out in 2016 to relative obscurity(like  Bill Clinton,George Bush and all previous 'NWO' agents ).

Nothing will ever change ,but the conspiracies will continue.

Bush & Blair had strong 'christian' beliefs and invaded Iraq(a country that had almost ONE MILLION CHRISTIANS) at the moment a christian population  of less than 200,000 resides there due to this 'moral' invasion.

Like I have admonished you,STUDY !!! Don't waste your time on all these nonsense.

You don't have any inkling on politics in America.

I won't waste my time on this thread again.

You are typical of NL 'christians' all google no spirit.

I thought you would open your Bible & check one (at least one!) of the numerous mis-interpreted Bible quotes I provided earlier ,but alas. .  .you have little time for such.

The verse you quoted is for you actually.

Focus on the WORD of GOD not conspiracies, because you CAN (& SURELY will) be deceived by them.

What is your BUSINESS if Obama is the Anti-Christ(s) huh?

Is that your goal in life ? Have you ever sat down to ask yourself -"What is my purpose in life?"  "Why am I here?"

If indeed Obama is the Anti-Christ(s),then he's fulfilling his own part of scripture(which I doubt very much),why don't you focus on yours??

Laziness has hit the christian world.

Because you have such incoherent weblinks now suddenly makes you a Child of God ?

I have been reading all these conspiracy crap for many years  & I will implore you OLADEEGBU to just take a deep breath and CONSIDER for a moment . . . .just one brief moment  the view of the other side(i.e. you may be very wrong).
Let me give you a run down

1. In the 70s, people believed then Prince and later King Juan Carlos of Spain was the Anti-Christ because they felt he satisfied 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8. He was a young man then rising up in Europe and he was the first person to graduate from Army, Navy & Airforce officers academies.

He was involved with the death of his brother & Franco the religious fascist dictator of Spain handed over to him in a surprise move which smelt of all sorts of conspiracy. All the 'christian' conspiracy theorists went amock and all proclaimed that Jesus was coming soon & Carlos was the Anti-Christ. . . . . . .ANSWER = WRONG !

2. Later in the 80s 'christians' compared Daniel 7 & Rev 17 ,which spoke about the break  up of the '10' kingdoms. At this time the European Union was made up of 10 countries, the prediction (based on the above texts) was that the EU was the country being referred to and it  would soon break up and usher in the end times. On the contrary the EU has grown to almost 20 countries !!!

3. In the 90s - taking a cue from Rev 17:9 which refers to Mystery  Babylon(the harlot) sitting on 7 hills, many 'christians' (including Chick comics if I may had) quickly inferred it  was the Roman Catholic church, since the city of Rome sits on 7 hills !
And that the catholic church was the harlot deceiving everyone and this was where the Anti-Christ would come from, this was mixed with Jesuit priests, iluminati  conspiracies & the Pope himself being the Anti-Christ.
As you are probably aware Ibadan ,Nigeria also sits on 7 hills hence probably Guru Maharaji
is the Anti Christ  cheesy ),
The greater Holywood Area also sits on 7 hills as well, so probably all these films we watch are promoting the AC ??
4. The Apatheid regime in south Africa for many decades justified this evil system  with Noah’s curse on cannan in the Holy Bible.
5. The much touted  and revered founding fathers of America ,who people largely believe were Christians all had black slaves, which they readily  justified by quoting  Genesis 9:25

So the point I’m trying to make , which davidlyan  put to you rather succinctly with his question is – IT DOESN’T MATTER !

Nigeria denied window to the world
Post categories: Football, World Cup

Piers Edwards | 22:21 UK time, Wednesday, 30 June 2010

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan must be a brave man. I've travelled to 80-odd countries and nowhere have I ever found such seething energy as in Nigeria - an electricity which translates into both rampant passion and expectation when applied to football.

While covering the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations, I'll never forget the outrage of Nigerian fans who - infuriated by the hosts' failure to beat group rivals Congo - smashed the team bus and were only prevented from accessing the dressing rooms by volleys of tear gas.

Many Nigerians believe football to be the only area which ever unites their vastly disparate land of over 300 tribes and 150 million inhabitants.

Now though, the sport has been taken away from them.

Nigeria v South Korea highlights (UK users only)

For the government's dissolution of the national team for two years means - should it ever come to pass - that the Super Eagles, now dubbed the Super Chickens, will miss the 2012 Nations Cup. Perhaps Libya 2013 as well.

Well known for taking an exceedingly dim view of governmental interference in a national federation's affairs, football's world governing body Fifa may also threaten a ban.

But one wonders whether such a suspension - from the government or Fifa (although a Normalisation Committee may well be looming) - is the best way of getting Nigeria's football house in admittedly much-needed order. For this year's World Cup preparations were certainly bumpy.

Shortly after January's Nations Cup, coach Shaibu Amodu was fired despite achieving his NFF targets of a) qualifying for South Africa and b) reaching the Nations Cup in Angola, where Nigeria took third.

Lars Lagerback was appointed in February but only after Glenn Hoddle said he'd rejected the post after being told his short-term deal worth US$1m would be announced as US$1.5m by the NFF - and financial accountability is forming part of the government's ongoing investigation.

Nigeria then warmed up by having more friendlies cancelled than played while their World Cup base camp was changed at the last minute - costing the NFF a US$125,000 Fifa fine. But still the squad ended up at sea level in South Africa, which seemed strange when their first two matches were at altitude.

Player selection also had the Nigerian media speculating about favouritism, with Lagerback forced to deny he had selected Kanu under NFF pressure, and though coming within a whisker of qualifying, undone by Sani Keita's moment of madness, was it any surprise Group B didn't go to plan?

Nigeria suffered a continental ban in the nineties after being barred from the 1998 Nations Cup by Caf for withdrawing from South Africa 1996 following criticism from Nelson Mandela over the ruling military's hanging of Ken Saro-Wiwa and other human rights activists.

That prevented one of Nigeria's, and Africa's, best ever sides from contesting the 2008 Nations Cup - just two years after the Okocha, Oliseh, Babangida, Kanu, Amuneke generation had proved truly golden when winning the 1996 Olympics.

Nigeria did reach the last 16 at France '98 - but the West Africans haven't won a World Cup game since and their 2002 and 2010 campaigns, either side of their failure to qualify for Germany, ended in the first round.

Given that this disappointing World Cup prompted the government's drastic move, one wonders whether they're prepared to sacrifice the 2014 campaign for the long-term future? Or this is simply a dramatic way of decapitating the current NFF board?

Meanwhile, the fans who've long bemoaned their federation's failures probably don't
know whether to laugh or cry.

"We are a rich nation but very poor, because we've made mistakes in many areas, but the one area where we've ever shown greatness is football," says Segun Odegbami, who won the 1980 Nations Cup, when explaining his compatriots' fervour.

"The players show our best side to the world and the whole nation unites behind them. Very simply, football is a reminder of our potential as a great country."

Not at the moment. Good luck Jonathan indeed.

When BBC did a piece on lagos tittled "welcome to lagos", people like this were up in arms against the article, insisting that it was not a true representation of lagos, and that BBC was trying to scare investors from lagos,
This same people will turn around and say "Who's going to fly into a war zone full of kidnappers & trigger happy policemen?" in reference to the entire niger delta.

This guy would prefer that the money would be used to buy MMA and develop it instead of an airport in Asaba,
Please don't get me wrong, I am not argueing in favour or against the airport in Asaba, I am only interested in the alternative you suggested that, Delta state govt should buy MMA in Lagos!!!!
@DaLover,my opinion has nothing to do with the good people of the Niger Delta, who are being held hostage like all Nigerians by their hapless leaders.(By the way,I have no problems with the BBC documentary)

Also my example of buying MMA should not remove from the point. Uduaghan can invest in Heathrow,JFK for all I know. . .the point being-these people never think these projects through. . . everything has to do with awarding contracts ultimately.

A state/country that has no emergency number(e.g 199,911) responsive fire servive or constant power will invest in a multi-dimensional facility like an airport (note NOT airstrip).

So my point is good leadership is beyond all these bridges to nowhere, but a wholistic plan/blueprint.

shotster50:
illusion,

Your assumptions are waaaaaaaay off target. Asaba is nowhere near war zone you talk about. The airport actually makes sense if they can deliver on it. Do you know that Asaba is right next to Onitsha, which has one of the biggest Markets in Nigeria, Presently traders have no option than to import goods to Lagos and then convey them through the Benin Ore trap to the east.

This will be an absolute life saver for them if it goes through.

You should stop with these arm chair criticisms, it only makes you sound more and more ignorant.
We heard more than this with TINAPA,we have airports in Port harcourt,Warri,Owerri,Enugu, probably not as close but within manageable distance from Onitsha. . .what impact have these had on IMPORTERS. . . don't be deceived my friend. . .its all about the contracts !!!

WOW!This is very interesting.I guess majority of us have fallen victims before.

I am still suffering from the after effect of internet love.I met a girl on facebook too
a year ago and we got dating online though i have seen her pics and seen her on webcam i have never met her.She deleted her facebook account and had me delete mine that since we dating she wouldn't love facebook wahala which i gladly did.The first scam was she had to celebrate her birthday and needed to take her friends out so she needed help.I chop dt one and sent her 50,000 which she said she recieved but will appreciate it i can send her another as she borrowed money from her friend to add up to the one i sent her earlier.

I passed on that but then she came back again that she was so broke and will appreciate it if i can send her some money.I had my cousin in Nigeria send her 15,000 which she recieved and didnt even bother calling me back to say thank you not untill i called her.She said she didn't have credit, i had a friend in Nigeria send her 1500 MTN which she recieved and called me for 1minute.I was warned when these signs were coming but i didn't listen cos there was just something about her that didnt make me see the light.

I also became her recharge card vendor. As i loaded her bb for her 5k every month for 5months.I was insulted on various occasions for this when the card didn't come early. She called me up one day, started insulting me that she has not seen this kind of relationship before, that most of her friends doing long distance have gifts from their guys over there but i have never sent her anything which makes her think i am fake.I got pissed off at that statement cos she has never sent me anything or even tried to use her card to call me and stay for long on phone like i do.She came again saying she was so sorry about what she said earlier that she was so broke that she needed some money.I fell for that and had my cousin send her 20,000 on a Wednesday.Called her on Sunday and asked her hope u financially stable now?She answered me saying "What do u expect I didn't want to ask you for more money so you wouldn't say rubbish".This statement pissed me off and i guess i started realizing from this point that she was a scam.

She came back days after saying she doesn't have a dime on her (as usual) and will need some money. So i played along this time around asking her how much, she said like 40,000 will do.I said sure i will send it to you which i never did cos i was pissed off at the fact that she was extravagant and more of a scam artiste. When she realized i wasn't forthcoming she started calling me saying i have changed and that i was so wicked and heartless.I just didn't say a word to her but decided i will stop picking her calls and leave her alone. The amazing thing about this girl is she never takes the bus, she does more of cabbing and when i asked her about it she challenged me saying if i was in Nigeria will i enter the smelling and choked up bus.I was dumbfounded.

Till today it affects me cos i just felt i wasted my time and resources on someone who was a joker. At times i think of it cos i really loved the girl but i guess doing away was the right thing. Please people beware of such people. They really exist and i don't know what they take but when they sting they do real bad.

Wat do u guys think?
i don't mean to be too blunt . . . but i honetly think you're manifestly stupid.

It's time for ‘Round 2' in the ‘Group of Death' as Portugal and North Korea face-off, in an encounter extremely crucial to both teams' futures in the tournament. Before the tournament began, one would have predicted this to be a lopsided battle, with Portugal tipped to run riot in the North Korean ranks.

It is unlikely that most people would make that mistake now; especially after watching a resolute Korean outfit keep Brazil honest in the opener. That; coupled with Portugal's below-par showing against Ivory Coast has ensured that it is going to be extremely tough to predict the outcome of this game to be played on Monday the 21st of June at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town.

Portugal would have to display a marked improvement in their game after a dismal showing against Ivory Coast, and though they have the cushion of playing North Korea before they do battle with the mighty Brazil, anything less than a win here would be criminal. The merry band of robbers from North Korea on the other hand, have nothing much to lose, and any number of points that they can steal away from the other teams in the ‘Group of Death' would be heralded as a bonus.

Portugal:
Apart from Cristiano Ronaldo's 11th minute rocket shot that hit the crossbar, Portugal created little that troubled the Ivory Coast defence on Tuesday. Though Ronaldo was brilliant in patches, he struggled for consistency and with scant support coming from Liedson and Danny, Portugal weren't able to mount threatening attacks.

Though the backline remained strong with Paulo Ferreira and Ricardo Carvalho leading the defense, lack of shots on target from the Ivorians meant that Eduardo was hardly tested. Against the enterprising North Koreans though, Eduardo can expect some more action with the Asians looking good enough to hit Portugal on the counter.
With Danny being largely ineffective against Ivory Coast, Carlos Querioz might decide to start with Simao, meaning Portugal would line-up in a 4-4-2 as against the 4-3-3 in the opener. Ronaldo, on the other hand, would expect for more support from the likes of Deco and Simao to make inroads into the Korean half.

If Brazil gets past Ivory Coast in the earlier Group G game, a 'big' win against North Korea would boost Portugal's qualification chances, with goal difference being very likely to come into play.

North Korea:
When Jong Tae-Se shed tears of joy at the sound of the Korean national anthem before the game against Brazil got underway, many would have thought that to be the ‘moment of the game' for North Korea. Nobody expected the Koreans to turn up in such a tough group, forget running Brazil close, and their excellent display has made life all the more difficult for the other two teams.
While a defensive approach was expected, what was striking was that the Koreans managed to stifle the Brazilian attack and keep shots on goal down to a premium, all this while enjoying only about 28% possession. While goalkeeper Ri Myong-Guk impressed for most the game, both Korean full-backs in Cha Jong-Hyok and Ji Yun-Nam were industrious, the latter grabbing Korea's late reply.
Jong Tae-Se had an equally promising companion in Hong Yong-Jo upfront, and had the Korean's shown a little more ambition, the striking duo would have got enough support to put one in the back of the Brazilian net.

What's at stakeNorth Korea proved against Brazil (in a 2-1 loss) that it won't be easily broken down, which will make things difficult for a Portugal side that settled for a 1-1 draw against Ivory Coast.

With their most difficult match (against Brazil) still to come, the Portuguese need three points here to stay on track for qualification. A loss for the North Koreans could eliminate them from contention.

Suspension watch

Cristiano Ronaldo earned a yellow card in Portugal's previous match. If he receives another against North Korea, he will be suspended for his country's final game of the group stage.

No players for North Korea have been cautioned at this tournament.

Player to watch for: Portugal
Ricardo Carvalho — The Ivory Coast found out first-hand how hard life can be moving forward while facing this extremely tough and savvy centre back. The 32-year-old Chelsea mainstay has turned the last-ditch miracle tackle into an art form.

Player to watch for: North Korea
Hong Yong-Jo — Sitting right behind Jong Tae-Sae in attack, Hong Yong-Jo provides a great second attacking option for the North Koreans because he isn't afraid to test the opposing keeper from any range.

Key matchup
Cristiano Ronaldo vs. The Great Korean Defensive Wall — North Korea's defence by committee confounded Brazil for nearly an hour before Maicon's miracle strike. Can one of the best dribblers in the world find his way through? Qualification for Portugal may depend on it.

Portuguese perspective
"In an opening game, you take fewer risks. You don't throw everything into attack. The second game will be much more straightforward: we have to make things happen ,  we have to win to give ourselves a chance of progressing." — Coach Carlos Queiroz

North Korean perspective
"We could have got the three points [against Brazil] and the win and it will be very different to our next game against Portugal. We must beat Portugal to stay alive in the World Cup." — Forward Jong Tae-Se

World Cup head-to-head
Games played: 1 Portugal: 1 win, 0 losses, 0 draws

North Korea: 0 wins, 1 loss, 0 draws

Goals: Portugal 5, North Korea 3

Last match: These two have only played one match against each other, but what a match it turned out to be. In one of the most memorable World Cup encounters in history, North Korea, which had already rocked Italy 1-0 earlier in the 1966 tournament hosted by England, went shockingly up 3-0 over Portugal after 22 minutes in the quarter-finals. But the great Eusebio rescued his side, scoring four goals as Portugal rallied for a 5-3 triumph.

bgees relax.

Roy has much more experience than Pelligrini,we've tried a better manager from the spanish league (Rafa) without succcess, lets do something else.

A summary of his profile

Hodgson is probably best known for guiding the Swiss national team to the last 16 of the 1994 World Cup and qualification for Euro 1996; Switzerland had not qualified for a major tournament since the 1960s. He has also coached many notable club sides, including Malmö FF, Inter Milan, Blackburn Rovers, and Udinese. He was appointed to his current role at Fulham in December 2007.

Hodgson has served several times as a member of UEFA's technical study group at the European Championships, and he was also a member of the FIFA technical study group at the 2006 World Cup.[2] Hodgson has also worked as a television pundit in several of the countries in which he has coached and speaks five languages.
Pelligrini is not bad at all,but you can't compare him to Roy.

Anyway our discussion is largely academic if the latest news from Fulham is anything to go by. . . .
