March 6 2Corinthians 6v1 2Corinthians6:1 In our work together with God, then, we beg you who have received God's grace not to let it be wasted. (GNB) Have you read the story of the prodigal son? He had the resources and the inheritance from the Father but it was all in vain. That is what it means to be prodigal. It is wasteful. Its not like you do not have it but that you waste it.It's not like you're not a child or a son of God,it's just that you're a prodigal son,a wasteful, careless child. That's why the writers of the epistle of Today's passage are pleading, beseeching, anxiously asking you with Him (Jesus Christ) that you receive not the grace of God in vain.Do not receive this salvation for nothing. You've got the resource and the inheritance from God to live a new life, a challenging life,a seperate life, a radiant radiating life, a righteous holy life, a godly godlike life.Do not live a life of self pity,a life of "I'm just human,I'm not perfect". Live with the power of the grace that is in you.The grace of God is enough for you.He has given it.And if you feel that its not enough, you even have opportunity to come to the throne of grace ,and find grace to help you the next time you need it.Do not receive this grace in vain.Receive it to go and sin no more.Receive it to be a light to others and a salt to this corrupted world.Receive it to be different.Do something with the grace of God.Share that grace.Lets see it.Live to please God.You've got grace. |
When it suits you you say it is old testament and old covenant when it pleases you you quote from there when it is even glaring the prophets of God at the time practise polygamy and there is NO place polygamy was prohibited. Is there a particular time when I'm not supposed to quote from the old testament? Is it no more partt of the Bible?Have I at any time said the old testament is irrelevant? If any body says that, its kunle, because he doesn't want to pay tithe |
Like when? |
I wish people could come to read this things. If they did,it would reduce foolish questions and reasonings. Thanks OLAADEGBU,freelance and co |
huxley is always baffled by the things of God.he just cannot grasp it even if his life depended on it.And it does |
The people who knew him said that he was a thief,a villian used of the devil and better if he had not been born |
Excuses.titus na old testament, abi old testament no be Bible again? @kunle did you see first peter there?did you read philippians well,or you were in your usual addiction of typing without reading? James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. |
Amen ma/sir.Thank you |
@kunleOshob even the verse you quoted here goes further to prove mordern day tithing is wrong, the pharisees were said to have tithed mint, anise and cumin all agricultural products and not shekels or silver that was in use at that time. And need i remind you tithers in the bible consumed out of their tithes with their families in the presence of God (deut14:26) they did not just hand it over to their priest. A word is enough for the wise. I leave you with this warnings from the scriptures about clever lies that false teachers would come up with to get your money.\What gives you the dummy dumb feeling that anybody paying tithes is suffering and under oppresion.Do I need to remind you that tithe simply means 1/10 of something and that there are various forms of tithes? The Bible warned me about seducers like you who will wax worse and worse deceiving and being deceived.Shame on you and your fellows.God called you to converrt/win people from their sins to God 's kingdom.you're about converting people from keeping God's commands.May God help you. |
Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Deuteronomy 17:17 Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. Malachi 2:15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. Tit 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. |
@SirJohn I think the question here is very simple besides, I have stated that this thread is not to establish wether or not we should tight tithe. Some of you have said that we are supposed to tithe while some of us say we are not under any such obligation. So I said no problem, since you want to part with your 10% and we dont, kindly tell us whats in for you that we 'disobedient' non-tighters tithers cant partake in. Also, how come we have poor and sickly tithers when Malachi 3:10 promised an open heaven for them? Are you also asserting like most tithers that you do not experience any form of misfortune no matter how small? Why are some christians poor and sick even though they are children of God?Is the word of God wrong when it promises peace and abundance to God's children. The problem is not with the Lord, the problem is always with man.Christians don't live on a single passage.they survive on the whole of it.doing God's will |
Evidently you must be one of the crooks benefitting from this scam else you wouldn't be still so enthusiatic about it despite the overwhelming evidence that it is a fraudulent doctrine.Evidence my foot.False teaching is no evidence.the word of God is.Matthew23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Those are the Words of God.That settles it for me |
@kunleOshob We know the people doing the brainwashing as far as tithing is concerned and we anti tithers are on a mission to set the captives fre by revealing the SCRIPTURAL TRUTH about tithes to fellow brethen all over the world ( not onlt on nairaland) believe me the message is catching on. Believe me on this crusade i have been personally responsible for freeing thousands from the shackles and burdens of that scam called tithing and by the special grace of God this message shall reach millions in every corner of the earth. It is the crooks that preach tithing that would have to seek forgiveness and redemption when the whole world knows the truth.o my gawd, are you in trouble |
ok Sir John. ![]() |
@lagosboy and kunleOshob Is it not commonsense that if you follow someone's example, you'll do as he does?I said others like JeSoul and co had quoted some scriptures that impled one man,one wife.Do I have to repeat them before you know that those scriptures make sense? The church leaders were expectd to live and practice monogamy. Are you not supposed to be like them?Thats why I quoted those scriptures. Here again 1Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Believers had examples by which they patterned their life. That's why they were encouraged to be followers of the apostles. 1Corinth 4:16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example. 1Peter 3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? Its common sense that it is wrong to eat rat poison. There're scriptures that even suggest that. There's no point arguing and asking for definite scriptures that say that.must you argue for argument's sake? |
Must you brainwash my fellow nairalanders by continously opening anti tithe threads. If e dey pain you, just turn the other way now.As my football loving friends will say "Tithe for life" |
@lagosboy 1Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Monogamy is good and that is wat the early church saints practised.thats wat their leaders and workers practised as some have already shown on this thread.Thats what was from the beginning. |
@Desa,oye This is terrible. You don't know what to do ke?How are you sure that if you eventually get married to him, some other fine girl will not tell him to divorce you before he can marry her. You've made mistakes already and two wrongs will not make a right.it will be wrong to continue in a serious relationship with such a man |
It is not right for a christian man to have more than one wife.He is a christian man, subject to the new covenant. He is supposed to follow the examples of the early christians. |
@smile4kenn being hungry has nothing to do with it.I've seen very poor people smoke.I've seen beggars smoke. That someone is discouraging smoking doesn't mean that he is hungry or doesn't have money |
@brownjay accusing others will not justify you.Repent, your sins will find you out |
Daniel 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. |
Actually, the correct biblical approach to divorce is forgiveness. To forgive even as God forgave you. |
@Bobbyaf who are you impressing with your study of greek and hebrew interlinears?Anyway,I'm not here to show scholarship. One of the problems that you seem to have is your over reliance on commentaries, dictionaries and so on.They sure have their place and I must say i have my fair share, but nothing tells us more about God than God Himself.Whether there is or there is no 'unknown' in that verse(s) what does that matter? The unknown put is correct and it is for better intepretation and understanding.I think the goal of intepretation is to make the message clear and to be true to the text. The 2goals work together, not in isolation.I told someone before,if you can do a better job of translation,go for it,lets see.At least, the manuscripts are available.Lets see your action instead of your complaints about inaccuracy. Notice this 2verses. 1Corinth 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. 1Corinth 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? v22 says its a sign,a proof,a miracle to unbelievers.v23 implies that unbelievers will look down on tongues. How?Because there are DIFFERENT types of tongues. Some are messages that directly convince unbelievers like it did in Acts2.Some are unconvincing without intepretation. Why?Is it because the tongues are fake or not from God?no,no,no.Its because they were spoken where they did not need to be,i.e In the church gathering.Thas what many do today.I'm not here to stand for them(whatever name you may call them charismatic, new age, pentecostaletc).I came here telling some people that tongues do not compulsorily have to be intepreted. If you have an intepretation, fine speak on.If you don't,speak to yourself.Thats Bible. The scripture doesn't say that anyone who can't intepret tongues is speaking fake. That's my point all along. That's why I said there're different types of tongues/languages.I sincerely do not think that it is french or any earthly language that the angels use in communicating with God.I believe humans can use angel's language to communicate with God.Its a manifestation of the Spirit, its not too high or unattainable or too hard. Its something that could happen.Paul said though I speak with tongues of angels.Like i said earlier, speaking in tongues is not always directed to man.It could be a prayer to God.You do not need to inteprete that to anyman.Understanding the Word of God doesn't have to be as hard as you connote. Its simple most times.Reading meanings into it will only confuse more than help. When Paul was speaking mysteries,he informed his audience, but otherwise,it was plain speech, simple words easy to be understood both by the learned and the unlearned, and understandable by both people who have small bible and big bible dictionary and concordance.Thats why i said His words are plain to even the passerby, they are plain to the church that he wrote to.Yes he sometimes spoke mysteries that required spiritual wisdom and insight but he usually indicated when he was showing a mystery.the verses we've looked at are no mysteries, they are plain and clear. |
KunleOshob didn't say that he stopped smoking. He said he is no more addicted but did make good points though. The emboldened below are real. Whilst the bible does not describe such as a sin (although some puritans would try and twist the bible to describe it as such) i believe as human beings we have a responsibility to take care of our bodies and as such abstain from things that could harm our bodies. The closest example we have in the bible is when we were asked to not to drink excessively, gluttony was also described as a sin. In essence if one most smoke one MUST be able to determine what quantity is not excessive and this might be difficult to do since the damaging effects of smoking are not immediate. The effects could take up to twenty years to manifest. Also realizing that smokingg is addictive and there is a tendency to smoke excessively i belieiev it is btter off for us to avoid it all together. By the way i was a chained smoker i really used to enjoy it but i thank God i have been delivered from the addiction. |
@Davidylan i wasn't looking for answers in that context.I was trying to help with the questions that were raised especially by infomizer and then SirJohn. @Recognise Don't mind David o.how/why/when would he remember? |
March 5 Acts 5v34 Acts 5:34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; The children of God had gone to obey God,but the high priest and his colleagues were not happy about it.There were some hotheads amongst them that wanted to kill the children of God.It was the timely intervention of Gamaliel that stopped them. The chapter says that "to him they agreed".He was right thinking and clear thinking. He was educated. You know, that's the benefit of education. No education is lost.It is the best legacy.Whatever gift or skill a person may possess,he will very well do more than two times better if he had some education.Like some will say,'illiteracy is deadly'.Its a disease,a menace.Get some education. It will help you.Like I've heard some say,"Let school pass through you". Gamaliel was a DOCTOR of the law.The Bible says that he was had in reputation among ALL the people.Thats what your education can do for you.You know, while others were deliberating and taking wrong counsel,he commanded. He commanded.Education can put you in command. It can make others to see reason with you.Reach for the top.Wisdom is available for you. |
@ttalks I've been unavailable, sorry.I think/hope that i understand you better now.It seems you're talking more of our position in Christ. We all need to grow in understanding.there's a difference between our position in Christ and our christian experience.the experience is the growth part.we all grow.Of course, when we become born again,we are complete in Christ. We're seated in heavenly places already, all things belong to us,the Spirit of God dwells in us,Christ is made our righteousness, our sanctification, our wisdom.Yes.That's our position.thats not where we should stop though. We need to grow in the experience of these things.Let me try to explain it this way.We know God to be omnipresent i.e everywhere. There's a greater sense of His presence when we give our lives to Him.He comes to live/abide in us.There's a greater sense of His presence when 2 or more believers are gathered together in His name. There's is different, greater sense of the presence when He probably appears to the individual like when He appeared to Paul in the book of Acts.Yes He was there, all along before you were saved beholding the good and the bad,He came when you got saved and so on.he says I'm with you alway but there still a far greater sense of His presence when he shall appear and so shall we ever be with God.Its the same thing with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is an immersion,an envelope of/by the Spirit of God for power and ministry. Its what Jesus spoke of in John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. He dwells with us already as believers and shall be.They had Him dwelling already in the present continous tense but He was still to come.Thats the way we know God,by growing. All things are yours already at salvation. As you grow you come to know God as king and Lord.It happens to some immediately, some it may be later they just come to realise that they not fully submitted to God before, and then they now consecrate/commit more. Some come to know Him as sanctifier, some come to know Him as healer and their sickness are taken away although in position, they were already healed in christ. Now they know it in experience. Some come to know Him as supplier/provider.Some come to know Him as baptizer. Everyone may not grow at the same rate. Some can have it all in a day, some in a week, some years.Of course we grow faster if we're willing but some are actually forced to grow.I know when I gave my life to Christ and I know when God baptised me.They were different days and I knew something definitely happened to me.I've seen and heard and read of others that way too,People who were baptised at a different time from their salvation.I look into the scriptures and its the same thing. You can be saved and not be baptised in the Spirit.I'll show you 3examples where people received the baptism of the Holy Ghost after salvation in the Acts.Pls,I'm not saying that one cannot get baptised the same day that one is saved.I'm saying that they're different experiences in Christ. 1. Act 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. Act 8:6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. Act 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Act 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:Thats one 2. Act 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: Act 9:17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Thats another. 3. Act 19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, Act 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. These were all saved after pentecost. They received the Spirit baptism seperately.I've given you instances from the Bible,I've given from contemporary times.I hope for God to do what is best for us all. |
March 4 1Timothy 4v1,2,6 1Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1Timothy 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 1Timothy 4:6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. This is what is called great plainess of speech.the Spirit speaking expressly.Anybody can understand this.As in,you don't even need to be spiritual or born again to understand this. There's no mystery of godliness in this one,no secret thing to be sealed up.The Spirit of God,the Spirit of truth, who will not speak of Himself but what He hears from God,He says i.e God says some will depart from the faith.I thank God He said some, not all.I'll stay with Him.Some do not. They stay on the extreme. Some people believe that everybody has departed from the faith. Some on the other hand are so careless to think that none has departed from the faith.they believe that we're all serving God,judge not, love and listen to everybody. But the Spirit, the Comforter is expressly telling us that there are seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.Doctrines of devils.Today, people are impressed by preachers. They say that man can teach, that woman can prophesy, can evangelise. The question is what are they teaching? Very good at teaching but teaching doctrines of devils, manipulating using scriptures, speaking lies in hypocrisy.Having seared conscience that do not feel anything again.Consciences that permit sin. They feel so much love for sin and sinners that they have deep hatred and will have nothing to do with people who try to uphold righteousness. We need to meditate on this things and remember this, especially in this times and in our country Nigeria. |

@Mrbrownj why are you deceiving yourself.you are a non-jew and you live in the time of the gentiles, the new covenant period. If you want to live exactly like david and solomon,it'll be good that you visited jerusalem soon for the feast of the passover and also wait behind for pentecost.Take along all your bulls and lambs and doves for sacrifices and burnt offerings, show yourself to the priest and stay unclean so that you would not be locked up for some days.lol.B T W,do you know the meaning of concubine from the bible? @kunle I'm not aware of a particular passage in the bible that gives a dictionary type definition.I'm sure you ciould pull one out of the greek and hebrew dicos.I'll simply infer from the Bible |
@peejee you have an option to choose none of the above.Sin is not good and will be punished by God.Fornication and gay sex are wrong and sinful. They are sin as brownj will want me to say clearly |
