Christianity Etc › Must Women Wear Trouser/pants At All? by Image123(op): 12:02am On Oct 22, 2019
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome speaks on why he thinks women should wear trousers in the short youtube video in this post.
First and last, for me, wearing of trousers is not an issue of salvation. Note that boldly. So it's not a question or argument about this person is saved or not saved. We are saved by grace through faith, not by what we wear or don't wear. But there are things that are right and there are things that are wrong. For instance, it is wrong for you to miss church, or be sleeping or washing clothes or watching film at home during service. It is wrong for you to owe people money without paying them. Whether you will go to hell or be damned for this is another topic on its own.

So back to the matter. i believe absolutely that it is wrong for ladies to wear pants for many reasons. But in this video, the popular pastor Chris gives some reasons which i see as shallow and misleading.

Firstly, i was surprised that trousers or no trousers was such a big issue for them(BLW). i never knew they cared so much what people thought about wearing trousers. i thought they were altogether blind about it. Then pastor Chris gave some fallacious reasons why women should wear trousers. Do you agree with him?

One, he says someone received the Holy Spirit baptism wearing trousers. Therefore, it means Holy Spirit validates the trouser wearing. In that case, he is assuming salvation or any of the graces is by works. Sorry sir, We receive from God by FAITH. There is the role of TEACHING. i thought he would remember this as a teacher himself. God can give you salvation, or sanctification, or Spirit baptism, even at a go(like the Cornelius household or apostle Paul). It does not mean that you are ALL right. There are still things you still need to learn and unlearn.

Two, he makes reference to what was prevalent a few years ago. Saying that a few years ago, it was a taboo for a christian woman to wear trousers. Well sir, many things have since changed also, doesn't make them right. Some things were more of culture too, not because of bible or christianity. A few years ago, it was also odd to be gay. A few years ago, it was rare to divorce and unheard of for pastors to commit immorality openly whatever the denomination. There was a lot of sanity i think, a few years ago. Both in the christian world and in the secular. A few years ago, you would rarely see christian brothers with beards even. There were many good things and bad things that have changed since a few years ago. So change or acceptance of something today is not a defence of it been right. Pastor Chris of all people should know that.

Unfortunately too, he showed something which i find a sad repeated occurence in almost all churches. That is man-worship. People follow or believe their pastor hook, line and sinker. He simply can do NO wrong. He showed this when he talked about a lady preacher coming to BLW to preach and how confidently he would erase all she was saying from the congregation's mind. Not too different from those who would not even allow guest preachers BTW. Then he went ahead to blatantly tell the audience that BELONG is different from PERTAIN, quoting Deuteronomy 22v5. And of course my people took it like it came as revelation straight from Mount Sinai hot. Sorry sir, pertain and belong are synonyms. They mean the same thing.

And by the way, i thought that the common argument was that Deuteronomy does not apply to christians or New Testament? Then it went to trousers is not only for men and was not mentioned? Now, the narrative has changed or what? From his explanation, we can all wear skirts, high heels, geles etc. Just make sure as a man that a woman has not worn it before, and vice versa.

Among other things, he mentioned that Jesus Christ was not allowed in the synagogue that is why he went to the desert, and that Pharisees were not around Him etc. Well, that's not even what i want to talk about in the thread. But it just goes to show that people need to read and study the Bible for themselves. Many of these preachers simply just say things that are not there in the Bible.

The point is don't be stranded or vulnerable. Bad things happen to stranded and vulnerable in this sinful depraved world. It is not about Arab or tribe. A sinner will likely sin if given the temptation to. Every man needs the Saviour.

Oyedepo did not say anywhere in the video that anyone should pray for favour or sow seed. The OP and pastor Adelaja are being subjective and deceitful.
Christianity Etc › Re: Bishop Oyedepo Is Misleading Christians: You Don't Need To Pray For Favor Or Sow by Image123(m): 12:35am On Oct 10, 2019
Pastor Adelaja is putting words in Bishop Oyedepo's mouth. What he did was destructive criticism, which any cynic can do to anyone including the Bible and the words of Jesus. The muslins and atheists do same everytime. Just take a phrase and ignore the rest. You can find unending absurdity and so called contradiction that way.
Anyone who has listened to Oyedepo a couple of times knows that he believes and teaches hard work, diligence and whatever else Adelaja is talking about. He might have even mentioned it in the same message. All pastor Adelaja did in this video is try to draw followers to his YouTube channel by riding on a more popular Oyedepo. He also ended up advertising his book and asking for likes and subscription whether you agree or not. That's below a man of his calibre or maybe former calibre.

We've already cleared this by earlier with saying that one's life is the property of God and it is a gift. Though, death is a universal truth that can never be defied, still life is to be perpetuated for as long as it possibly can be. You keep alive, stay alive, keep on going, keep in existence, preserve yourself. Life is for enjoying the moment, not hating life. In spite of whatever and whether one likes life or not, you don't, if it can be helped, just like that, destroy it, by killing oneself.

Image123, you said, you want to die and go to heaven, erhn? You do know that after the honeymoon in heaven, everyone is coming back to earth, hmm?
All i know is that i want to die and go to heaven, you should too.

Whether anyone likes it or not, Image123, by divine law design and/or cosmic plan, we die daily, "iyẹn, ti di, dandan"
Death? Smh. Is it the apoptosis or necrosis one. Or the myriads of other deaths, like for example, spiritual death, physical death or even "la petite mort" thats french, meaning, the very enjoyable orgasmic, little death.

Image123, on a serious note, "feel like dying" really, is the stuff, temporary madness, gone too far, is made of.

Whenever one nurses "feel like dying" thoughts, this is an extremely foolish way to behave in response to whatever the particular challenging situation is and if dwell on too long or long enough, one might go too far, reach the point of no return, literally, and actually go about commit the suicide
Like i have stated, one can be tempted to die or feel like dying. It is different from going ahead to die or killing one's self. i can feel like robbing a bank, it is a thought i should not carry out but overcome and do something productive instead.

What has being a christian got to do here and particularly to do with the questions: Was Samson foolish? Did Samson end his life cheaply?
You made the statement "Will one be less of a christian if one harboured suicidal thoughts, hmm image123?
Didnt Paul want to die? Didnt he say he's having a desire to depart and be with Christ?
What is to make of Samson's carried out suicidal thought and prayer?
" i understood that as you putting all in the same christian basket. i have since replied all though.

I am not bothered with if Christianity began about 2020 years ago sir or not, my interest is that, Samson fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith and so, Samson, "the boy done good" made it into the Hebrews 11 Hall of Fame heroes of faith.

The Death of Samson

"23The Philistine kings met together to celebrate and offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon. They sang, “Our god has given us victory over our enemy Samson!”
24They were enjoying themselves, and so they said, “Call Samson, and let's make him entertain us!” When they brought Samson out of the prison, they made him entertain them and made him stand between the columns.
25When the people saw him, they sang praise to their god: “Our god has given us victory over our enemy, who devastated our land and killed so many of us!”
26Samson said to the boy who was leading him by the hand, “Let me touch the columns that hold up the building. I want to lean on them.”
27The building was crowded with men and women. All five Philistine kings were there, and there were about three thousand men and women on the roof, watching Samson entertain them.
28Then Samson prayed, “Sovereign Lord, please remember me; please, God, give me my strength just this one time more, so that with this one blow I can get even with the Philistines for putting out my two eyes.”
29So Samson took hold of the two middle columns holding up the building. Putting one hand on each column, he pushed against them
30and shouted, “Let me die with the Philistines!” He pushed with all his might, and the building fell down on the five kings and everyone else. Samson killed more people at his death than he had killed during his life
"
- Judges 16:28

Image123, it is interesting to read you say: "Yes, it will be said that he made a foolish decision." when God, that Samson conversed his intent to, that he prayed to about his plan of vengeance to be successful and he die, did not disregard his wish, but actually, without questioning or objecting to the foolish decision, granted his wish.

Image123, my point in this our healthy and meaningful discourse, is that, considering the situation Samson was in, the overall circumstances and full facts of the matter, maybe foolish decisions, like Samson's et al, are permissible and/or tolerated by God. Temper justice with mercy things sir?.

Yeah right. You can talk like this, if you had put on Samson's shoes, if you had put your foot in Samson's shoe and walked a mile in it.
i will restate that i have great regards for Samson, being a judge in Israel and one of the heros of faith. However, he was not perfect. i'm not judging him or condemning him to hell as that is not my job, and considering the time he lived and resources he had. You should know that there is something called the permissive will of God like happened to Balaam, and to the Israelites that sent spies into Canaanland. God does according to your faith in many cases. i have great respect for Samson, Miriam, David, Abraham etc but they did at some point make some foolish mistake.

You sidestepped my asking about what is to make of Samson's carried out suicidal thought and granted prayer?
Was Samson foolish? Did Samson end his life cheaply?
This is an unfair thing to say. i answered you clearly by referring to Paul who was a christian. Samson was not a christian, neither did he have the great opportunities that we have. He was a Nazarite, yes. Maybe in practice of Judaism, yes. But a christian? Christianity began about 2020 years ago sir.
While i have great respect for Samson, being a judge of Israel and a spectacular hero of faith, doing things yet to be done till date. Yet it will be said that he made a foolish decision. He did not need to die with the philistines. The same God that gave him extraordinary powers could have preserved him.

What is to make of Samson's carried out suicidal thought and prayer?

Image123, I am sure, you aware that, anyone who actually goes through and commits plain straight and undiluted suicide, had at that moment of doing the act, gone wacko, as in, had a temporary madness, gone too far, hmm? So from that point and especially from what, I've got to learned about the subject, I am not one to judge persons who have died by committing plain straight and undiluted suicide.

Of course, one's life is the property of God and it is a gift. Though, death is a universal truth that can never be defied, still life is to be perpetuated for as long as it possibly can be. Thinking suicide is a temptation. Falling for it is a low which is the usual escape route for atheist. Paul did not think suicide, he thought heaven. Muttley. Suicide and heaven are two lines that will not meet.
BTW, the atheist position is worse than temporary madness. It is 247 folly, little wonder they easily commit suicide.

God is not judging sin at the moment. He will be unjust to judge sin on his son and judge you for the same sin after you have accepted his son.
The time for judgement is not now. The consequence of what the Corinthians did is what they experienced. It's different from judgement. Just as the consequence of having unprotected sex can be pregnancy, it does not mean judgement. .
The people who God will reward according to their work are people who have accepted Jesus not just anyone doing good works. Good works don't save,If it did Jesus wasted his time coming.
Oh, so consequence is not judgement. Hmmm. What Ananais and Sapphira and the erring Corinthian christians suffered are consequences, not judgement. Hmmmm. Jesus has been judged so we will not be judged. But we will face consequences. Hmmmm. This your teaching ehn, na one in town, Hmmmmm.

That was judgement. There was no back story regarding their lives etc and it only happened once so you can't make a doctrine out of it.
Yes, jugdement is very important, and God will reward every person according to his work.
2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The judgement for lying/sin was not once. It happened to Ananias once. Three hours later it happened a second time to his wife, Sapphira.

1Co 11:28  But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
1Co 11:29  For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
1Co 11:30  For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Jesus paid the price for the sins of these Corinthians too. They believed and even took Communion. But they did not examine themselves, and they were judged.Jesus died on their behalf but many were weak and sickly and died. i hope you don't need more.

So if you forget a sin, it means you are going to hell?
Let me explain well for you, God is a spirit, all the salvation and righteousness etc are things that happen in your spirit not your body. So God relates with you via your spirit not your physical body.
I am not a fan of once saved always saved cos your can renounce your salvation and reject Jesus and once you do there is no other sacrifice for sin (except Jesus who you have rejected).
You quote me the old testament about the soul that sins shall die, but you forget that someone died on your behalf and that is Jesus, your faith in him is what saves you. God is no more angry about sin cos someone has paid the price of sin. Jesus died for the sins of the world you get salvation by confessing and putting your faith in the righteous works of Jesus. You dont go to hell for sins you commit you do for rejecting the price that has been paid for sin. Its like telling God i do not need your payment for sin,I can pay by myself and since everyone is born with the sin nature the price is death in hell. Therefore Jesus paid for sins of the world and changes your nature to that of himself (no more the sin nature). That is why in John chapter 3 it says "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God".
So what happened to Ananais and Sapphira?

The world actually is objective since its state of existence has nothing to do with subjective subjects. What we say about it though is subjective, since we are subjects and not objects.

As to whether objective is superior, that would first depend on superior to what, and be like asking if a stone is superior to subject or object you. What do you think?
When I said the world, i was not referring to the planet earth. I'm referring to the reality that we face every day, the love, the hate, the hunger, the betrayals, the luck, the positioning, the pain. These are not exact science but are more real to humanity than facts like 2+2=4 which atheists worship.
