1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1Pe 3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: On the surface and peripheral, i'll say the issue of jewelry and adornment is not important, and of course IT IS NOT A CRITERIA for God to accept us. Jesus, grace, and faith interwoven is the criteria for acceptance before God. But on the base/foundation, looking into a higher experience, and a deeper walk, and a broader reward, i'll say the tone of scripture is against it. Unless we look at the unseen powers behind material things, we would readily be sucked in. Peter sets "the outward adorning" in direct contrast with "the hidden/inner ornament" which is in the sight of God of great price. The outward is what the world drives and thrives in. Many people would say they don't have any big reason for outward adornment, yet they would not do without it, not on their life. the honest truth is that most are gripped by the power of the world, without knowing it. I've seen people who would not step into some churches because they don't want to put off the outward adornment. I've also seen some who would not step out of their house, or go to work, school, a friend's place without it. Anyways, whatever a christian does, do it to the glory of God, whether you use or you no use. |
1. Let us check out the original meaning of world :Felt the need to stablish what i said earlier as regards the quote from frosbel with some scriptures. i said "i see no reason for these 'definitions'. i think we are all agreed on the fact that 'the world' can be used to mean the physical earth, or the people, or the system of things like we say the world of sports. Putting that up with some other irrelevant though correct pieces of information is not needed. The issue is that what world is referred to and why? Why would apostle Peter use both words in that passage? " The word "kosmos" is used in a wide range in scriptures. Limiting it to just one(the inhabitants) to suit our theology or understanding is not very wise. Actually, in classical greek, it implies two things. First is an harmonious order or arrangement. Secondly is adornment or decoration or embellishment. But in scriptures, the use of the word "kosmos" falls into three distinct groups. 1. It is used with the sense of the physical, material universe as seen in passages like these. John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 2. It is used to refer to the inhabitants of the world i.e the whole race of man/ human race. John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. The first bolded world refers to the earth, the seconded bolded refers to the inhabitants/people John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. Joh 12:19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him. 3. It is used to refer to worldly affairs and the things in the world i.e riches, pleasures, sports, knowledge, substance, both material and abstract. Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 1Cor 7:31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. The context and the Spirit then again, should determine the meaning of each verse, else there will be unnecessary confusions and imaginary contradictions. Jesus plainly stated, and is quoted in three gospels; Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Mar 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luk 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. And that Joh 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. If it were not so, He would have told us. This earth we are in is not the Father's house. After the preparation of the believers mansions, jesus will come again, and receive us. We are not the ones that will receive Him. He will receive us, so that where I am, there ye may be also. These statements by Jesus negate the belief that no one is going to Heaven. |
why are you equating a machine to god?i recognise your insincerity and dishonesty even before this thread, but just to oblige you and perhaps help others. Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. When Jesus wanted to explain the Kingdom of God to people, He often used things that they were used to, and that they could relate with. Hence, phrases like "the kingdom of God is like unto" but remember that the fate of the betrayer was already sealed no? whoever it was he/she was stepping into an already written script..i already explained it, but you decided to fail to grasp it. Many others would pass, don't worry. The fate of the betrayer was already known, not sealed. |
Also, My Father who is greater than i, would also mean, My son who is lesser than i. Greater for God and Lesser for Jesus. Not willing to distract issues, but just to comment on this quotes. it has been severally explained even from the Bible that Jesus became lesser so as to die be our example and die for us. Eternally, He is not lesser, for 33years, yes, but eternally, No. Phi 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Phi 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.Jesus is our Lord and the Lord of the Sabbath, that's why we observe the Sabbath the way He observed it while on earth. He worshipped and worked on any day of the week, and this often made the religious leaders in His day very mad at Him. the principle and spirit in the sabbath is that of rest. Everyone and thing should be allowed to rest and worship. All days belong to God, and no day is exactly holier than the other, except to the individual. Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Lastly, Jesus talked about tithe in Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. and Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. Fortunately and honestly, He didn't condemn it or ever tell/forewarn people to beware of it. He didn't say it would make people to 'loose' their salvation, or any such lie that people who don't want to tithe give these last days. |
The program was well attended with about 25-30 people in attendance and it lasted for about five hours. you for invite Bonnke na, that man dey pull crowd literally.More importantly we were warned that christians trying to keep aspects of the law are in danger of loosing their salvation as they are demonstrating they don't have enough faith in christ as expressed by Paul in Galatians 3:10 and Galatians 5:1-4.Again, it begs the question, what is the law? There are so many 'aspects' of law. The nigerian law for instance, or company law. Unfortunately for you and your 30 (here i was thinking 120 or Gideon's 300 was small), there is nothing like the law of tithe. For example, here below are some two 'aspects' of the law that i keep. Am i in danger of 1. Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 2. Exodus 20:12 Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. At this point i decided to take charge of the discussion and dug into my rich repertoire of the subject matter in explaining to and convincing those would still had doubts about the subject matter. I dug basically into to church history and how tithing came to be practised in the church with the fianlly assertion that monetary tithing from income started in America less than 150 years ago so it is clearly a man made doctrine derived from twisting outdated biblcal doctrines that are not applicable to christians in the first instance. By the end of the discussion forum those who had sympathy for the tithe doctrine were dumbfounded and very quiet. One could easily tell that they had been touched by what was revealed to them and they would be having second thoughts on this false doctrine. You easily remind me of that DeepS's pastor on the other thread. No wonder the man's audience were also dumbfounded. it's the same method of psychology and Spiritless assessment. Little, yet a pillar, classic. Even the gates of hell cannot prevail. let the church keep marching, i dey with the church kampe anyday by God's grace. |
September 20 Minding your own business Matthew 20:14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. "Occupy and occupation", "busy and business". These phrases share a common root word. Having an occupation keeps you occupied, doing business keeps you busy. Many people and cultures frown at laziness and that rightly so. God's word also frowns at laziness. It explicitly says that if any man should not work, neither should he eat. We live in a very busy world. In some parts of the world, the night is like day. There is a clocking in and clocking out 24/7(all the time). People wake up at dawn and work till dusk. Some do 9-5, some 8-4, some 7-7 and so on. Work depicts responsibility, everyone should work, both secular and spiritual. The old adage says there is dignity in labour. This been established, at work, you ought to mind your own business. There is a proverb that translates that even if a madman were to hoe, he would hoe to himself. Unfortunately, many 'sane' people do not hoe to themselves. Many do not take heed unto their own selves. They would rather poke their noses into others' business, or labour for others without nothing for themselves. Even the Holy Book says to love others as yourself, not more than yourself. But people spend their lives being very busy in others' business. More worrisome is when people are jealous and want to limit the life and reward of others, like in our Today's passage. They are looking at the other person's salary, and complaining, even when it does not affect their own take home. They are envious and complain of the other person saying, "he's younger than me, he just joined us, she does not know anything, he's not doing enough, I spend longer hours." Just like the people in Jesus' parable. As believers, let's not be like others. Let your light shine, yes, let your light so shine. Let's be content. for godliness with contentment is great gain. And then, mind your own business. Don't be obsessed by what obtains around you. Don't be carried away or choked or drunk. Be focused, the last can be the first, and the first last. Don't give up or give in. You will have a full reward. |
mkmyers45: but remember that the fate of the betrayer was already sealed no? whoever it was he/she was stepping into an already written script..don't quite work that way. more like. a ultrasound telling or knowing what's inside a woman, since when, till when. etc The machine knows even more than the subject woman but did not cause or seal her faith. she can still have a miscarriage, a stillbirth, a premature etc. the 'omniscient' machine gave the written script but did not write it, and even that written still depends on the pregnant lass. |
truthislight: what does he know? |
mkmyers45: ^^^^ Jesus in his omniscience knew what he will do? that says it all then..maybe, but note that Jesus knew, not that He made or destined him to it. |
truthislight: what does he know?you should ask fosbel not me. |
frosbel: After I heard that you were a tithe advocate par excellence your stance became more clear to me.As usual, you divert from the matter. just like you tuck your tail inbetween your legs about the 'call me father' issue. Psa 50:16 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Psa 50:17 Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. Psa 50:18 When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. Psa 50:19 Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. Psa 50:20 Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son. Psa 50:21 These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such a one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. Psa 50:22 Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. Psa 50:16 But to the sinner, God says, What are you doing, talking of my laws, or taking the words of my agreement in your mouth? Psa 50:17 Seeing that you have no desire for my teaching, turning your back on my words. Psa 50:18 When you saw a thief, you were in agreement with him, and you were joined with those who took other men's wives. Psa 50:19 You have given your mouth to evil, your tongue to words of deceit. Psa 50:20 You say evil of your brother; you make false statements against your mother's son. Psa 50:21 These things have you done, and I said nothing; it seemed to you that I was such a one as yourself; but I will make a protest against you, and put them in order before your eyes. Psa 50:22 Now keep this in mind, you who have no memory of God, for fear that you may be crushed under my hand, with no one to give you help: |
Pastor Kun: Yes he isi am asking frosbel, what happened to your laptop? so many of my friends are waiting to hear you. |
He prayed for peter and not for Judas..what does that tell us? John13:18 I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But that the. Jesus is always praying for everybody, but you also have your own part to play. You have to come in repentance, and take heed lest you fall. Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. While the scripture doesn't state that He did not pray for Judas, it may have been of little worth praying for Judas seeing that Jesus knew through scriptures and omniscience what would become of Judas. he came to make sure the scripture is fulfilled(John 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.) Na Judas suppose sit tight for hin own matter, say no be my head they go take cleanse the world abi that kain prayer i heard somewhile back. Every human is created in the image of God, with power to influence his own destiny. Your background is not the reason for your back to be on the ground. however,in the case of pharaoh, yahweh made it clear in his own book that he hardened the heart of pharoah because he wanted glory which he wont have gotten if pharaoh had just let them go when moses asked.as for judas, even his death was prophesied.peter said in acts that judas died and his bowels littered the field "so that the prophecy may be fulfilled".yahweh makes things happen so that his words dont go void.for example, matthew says joseph settle in nazareth so that the prophecy may be fulfilled that "he shall be a nazarene".Would be fair to add these passages also in an even assessment. 1Samuel 6:6 Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed? Exo 8:32 And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go. Exo 9:34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants. As for Judas, it could have been any of Jesus' disciples that betrayed Christ for 30 pieces of silver, it could have been Peter or James or John, or even Nicodemus. Any of them can fulfill the scriptures you alluded to. what was the betrayal of judas?he kissed jesus as a way of letting the soldiers identify him.now this is just bollocks.jesus was supposedly a popular figure.a man who supposedly fed 3000 and 5000 people on differenticcasions in a city of less than 50,000 people.a man who was well known to the leaders of the pharisees.a man who was very popular then becomes a man whose identity is unknown to the point the pharisees(who know him) have to pay someone to identify him with a freaking kisss.how ridiculous does that even sound?the 'soldiers' are not the pharisees but the servants of the pharisees. Jesus was more of a popular name than a popular figure. many heard of Him but didn't know Him. Remember Zaccheus, and those fellows who came to see Him. Luke 19:3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. John 12:21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. John 12:22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. Not everybody had direct access in a sense, Jesus was often mobile and had disciples around Him. Remember the episode where some children and their parents were forbidden by disciples from seeing Jesus? Jesus Himself had a way of disappearing in a crowd. they needed someone close to Him to help in the catch as it were. John 6:25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? Luk 4:30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way, John 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. John 10:39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand, John 7:45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? John 7:46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. John 21:4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Mark 6:48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. Mark 6:49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: Not forgetting Mary Magdalene, and the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. |
Ooops, i'm a little behind on this. ok then it means satan didnt know the significance of christ death on timeyep, he was trying to kill Christ all the time even from birth. he thought Christ had come to establish His kingdom literally. this is plain dumb.if satan didnt know the purpose of jesus in the world, why did he attempt to tempt him three times?was the death of jesus not prophesied by the books as claimed by christianity?did isaiah and david not prophesy of his birth?even herod attempted to kill him at birth and you say satan with alll his disappearing act and absolute power and knowledge didnt know what jesus came to do.ithink i noticed someone already answered this while i skimmed through. but to add that nobody understood most of the prophecy until they were fulfilled or God showed them the meaning like He did for Daniel, or like Jesus showed His disciples the things concerning Himself. Even when He told them He was going to die, they no fit believe am. Luke 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, today is the third day since these things were done. (DRB)1Cor 2v8 Which none of the princes of this world knew. For if they had known it, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory. John 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. The church age(our age) was a mystery, hidden. that's why eschatologists say it was not in the Daniel's 70 week prophecy. The majority of OT prophecy points to Jesus/the Messiah/King coming to reign and execute judgement. Devil was trying to stop that. But that 'reign' is for the second coming when Christ will reign for 1000years on earth with the saints according to the Scriptures. devil and his cohorts will also try to stop Him then. |
@frosbel I am used to your insults, not sure what spirit has possessed you.you're a liar and a cheat, live honestly with it or better still repent. You don change am like devil, original indeed. you should be more concerned about the thing that possesses you. Regarding points 3 and 4 , I stand on my statement 100%What are the church doctrines, does the church claim to have any doctrine? Their site states Bible doctrines, not Deeper Life doctrines. you said "4. The church doctrines are 100% bible doctrines and cannot be challenged, to do so means you are an apostate" I'm yet to see deeper life say they have church doctrines, and i wonder what sort of church would ask people to challenge Bible doctrines. i'm yet to see a christian that questions the church's business with marriage. The op fits among those having no memory of how he was made clean from his old sins. This one thinks leaving deeperlife equals seeing the light, or stop tithing equals salvation, pathetic ignorance. knowing Jesus is to see light. Pro 18:1 He who keeps himself separate for his private purpose goes against all good sense. Pro 18:2 A foolish man has no pleasure in good sense, but only to let what is in his heart come to light. |
September 19 The necessary decision Psalm 18:1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. Every man is a living soul. The soul of man is where his will resides. It is where his mind and self lies. It is the decision making centre, although it may be influenced by other parts of man or external factors. Decision influences destiny, your decision is determined by your will. you either decide "you will" or you decide "you will not." I will stand up, I will eat, I will go, I will not watch it, I will not forget; these are all decisions that we make. There is an important decision every man has to make, it is a decision of love. you decide to love or not to love. Many people think that love is not a decision, but just an involuntary feeling. No, love can be decided. You can decide to love a person, little wonder that a command by God for husbands to love their wives. You can decide to love a subject or course. you can decide to love God, like the Psalmist. In our Today's passage, the psalmist says "I will love thee, O Lord". I WILL. it is a personal decision, a necessary decision. Some people think that they cannot love God, they even have reasons not to love God.God did not do this for me or my family, God did not show up, God does not exist, God is wicked. Inspite of all these conclusions, there still remains a vital decision to make, a necessary decision. A decision to love God. Many waters cannot quench love. The first and most important command in the Bible is to love God. Make a conscious decision to love God irrespective of whethe He has been good or bad, understandable or mysterious to you. I WILL LOVE THEE O LORD. When you love God, He always shovels back His love to us, and He's got a very big shovel too. Make the Lord your strength from today. It means to trust in Him. This combination of loving and trusting God will bring you fulfillment like you've never known, and earmark you as a person after God's heart. |
frosbel: I never knew you were also one of those tithing charlatans. Is Kumuyi a charlatan? |
hehehehehehe, yêeeeeeeeeeeea. so this is where the anti tithers are holding revival and deceiving themselves and those that want to. where is kunleO the reporta abi devourer don blow the boy laptop ni? |
frosbel: When was the last time you checked the bible to confirm if all those doctrines are true ?the deeper life site states that the 22doctrines are Bible doctrines, not deeper life doctrines, and i agree with that. which of the doctrines did you not see in the Bible, and why are they different from the ones you initially listed in the op. Your attempt to slander them has failed, you liar liar. |
Joagbaje: Every church has doctrines . Some based on understding and revelation there . And some may be based on wrong interpretation of scriptures by leadership there. And some may just be man made. The early church had doctrinal differences too. Every one is right in his own eyes . But grounds are shifting . Christ is purging the church to be pure. Every doctrine tree that is not of him will uprooted before the rapture . There will be unity of the faith and purity in the church.doctrine is not just teaching or tradition, it is the core beliefs. Teachings and traditions are flexible as it were, but doctrine is Bible and foundation . for instance, I went to deeper life and redeem 's websites through these links. http://www.dclm.org/AboutUs/WhatWeBelieve/DoctrinesShortForm/tabid/158/Default.aspx http://ss.rccgnet.org/teacher/ the doctrines there are not their own or man made. They are universal and eternal Scripture truths. doctrine is not style or tradition. |
korrej: Would satan have entered him knowing the end would nt favour him?he satan did not know, he didn't understand that Christ would defeat him on the cross and rise in victory. Jesus spoiled principalities and powers and gave satan a terrible knock out on the head. satan com fall for gutter |
bad seed fulfilling negative prophecy. he allowed satan to enter into him as the serpent see the greed door wide open. |
why are you looking at me? bring your money to your father. ok |
frosbel: Okay so you agree that there is ONE second coming of Christ and not TWO ( one secret and the other visible ) ?bad. I'm disappointed they didn't teach you this basic Sunday school teaching in your former denomination, or maybe they taught it but you were never with them as John posits. There is one rapture and then one Second Coming. In the rapture, it's more an ascent. but the second coming is more a descent. one is described as in a twinkling of the eye, the other is for about 1000 years. i guess the disappearing acts are what you're referring to as secret, don't know if thats the perfect adjective sha, what I know is that people go disappear. Luke 17:34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. |
tidytim: "And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven."you're not the first to misunderstand Jesus, I'll be mild on you. do you have any father or mother? |
frosbel: You are seriously confused and misled.i showed you Paul and John calling themselves and others father . you understand Jesus pass dem na, no be you? impossible is nothing. Proverbs 18:2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. |
frosbel: Don't get excited , calm down.I already defined it and you quoted it abi the definition no look like the ones the articles you 'worship' can counter? |
two years after, hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha calls for sober reflections maybe |
which one be secret rapture, rapture is the catching up of the saints to meet the only one Lord Jesus God the Son in the air. all these vain jangling and rambling of words to entice people and cause them to doubt is all flesh. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. |
double post |
frosbel: insults ?1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. you wan fight ba? you go fight tyre your new non denominational denomination members go come greet you. |

I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. Mr. call nobody father, holier than Jesus and John. |
