It's a very simple thing until we start making issues out of it. Black is darkness, and light is light. So black's usually portrayed as 'evil'. It's not a racial thing until you take it personal. It's not in the Bible BTW, it's just the way most people think. |

aletheia: ^ (1) And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. (Luk 24:3)
(2) But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. (Luk 24:37-40)
@Topic:
All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. (1Co 15:39-41)
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. (Rev 1:14-16) Aletheia blood/body don dey hot o, the thread is meaningless i MUST say. You yourself know but forgot that Jesus Christ is coming back for His body. |

And of the need for you to repent and come out of your sins, into full salvation and dedication to your Creator. Most of them are just out to mesmerise you and milk you dry, so that you worship them and work for them with all your might, soul and strength. |

diluminati: @Image i would like you to study about Christian mysticism objectively http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_mysticism. Maybe it may change your views. I've read from the link you sent. It's all muddled up stuff in there. I'm referring to the reality of the spiritual world, the ability of any human to connect with it, AND building our spirits to commune more effectively with God. Anything outside the latter is not biblical, therefore illegal(especially to a christian). There are different types of waves, not every wave is a radio wave. There are different types of light, not every light is infrared. There are different communications in the spirit realm, not every form is mysticism(whatever adjective you may put in front, christian, muslin, indian etc). |

There is no godly mysticism. You can't contact God by mysticism. You can contact spirits though, and lotsa devils. And of course many of them know stuff we humans don't know, hence the reason why mystics seem to have an upperhand. Mysticism is like steroids or body enhancers. It's ILLEGAL. If you use steroids, you can do great things with your body but illegal. You should instead train your body to do great things. In spiritual realm, you should develop your spirit man wrt God. |

wordtalk: Even a casual english literate knows that scripture refers to Levi's house. A supposed student of the Bible has taken the 'take it or leave it' approach.
@Image123,
You bear an 'image', please be gentle with newmi.
Perhaps what you might have done in your counter argument is point out HOW and WHY newmi's verse of Mark 2:15 does not establish that 'Jesus could possibly have had a house' - i.e., a personally rented house of His own.
"And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him"
So, Mark 2:15 - Jesus own house? Answer: Definitely NOT.
WHY and HOW? Because other passages in the NT have direct bearing on that event and show that the 'house' belonged to someone else - Levi.
Please read and compare between Mark 2:14-15 and Luke 5:29-30 >> compare with - Luke 5:29 explains Mark 2:15 and shows that 'his own house' is a reference to Levi, not Jesus. Further, it is commonly believed that the same Levi is MATTHEW, who later became one os His disciples (please see Matthew 9:9-10). So, it was Matthew's house that such verses as Mark 2:15 was pointing to.
This is one way of showing that the said house being argued did not belong to Jesus as His personally rented apartment, and hence CANNOT be used to justify a fallacious argument around which house Jesus dwelt in or had as His own. wordtalk: Even a casual english literate knows that scripture refers to Levi's house. Azibalua, abi na Joagbaje. Na wa o, must evangelism be costly? Evangelism becomes costly when you use carnal means like trying to buy over people to your church. Or leaving your village church and asking for sponsor/partners to go and reach the dying souls in London and New York. That's definitely costly but not required. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Should I Continue With Mysticism? by Image123(m): 10:47pm On Mar 06, 2012 |
@OP, Mysticism would not pay you in the long run as you yourself knows and already admitted. Besides, God does not want us humans to trust in ourselves/abilities but in Him ultimately. You don't want to displease God and jeopardize your eternity for toys like magic. Yes, mysticism deals with 'development' or 'cultivation' of your spirit. Just like some train their body and body parts, and they do uncommon things with their bodies, even so you can train your spirit. Till it becomes much sensitive/in-tune to spiritual activities around you(which by the way are mostly demonic activities). |
