Christianity Etc › Re: Is Using Your Phone As Bible On Sunday Service A Sin? by Image123(m): 11:12am On Mar 26, 2012
It depends. God looks at the heart. Some do it for show, to show off their gadget, or their high tech ability/disability. Some just have the 'owanbe spirit' and need help. Some do it because they're ashamed to leave home with a Bible in hand, or be seen going to church. Some were not able to get their Bible before going to church, some may have the version the preacher is using on phone not in paper. So many more reasons, so it depends. Some na just follow follow, copy cat.

Jesus is the Bible. You can't separate Jesus from the Bible. By the way, you need more education if you're still unsure of Jesus' existence. You're not 'well read'.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Believers Suffer? by Image123(m): 11:39pm On Mar 24, 2012
It's IMPOSSIBLE to truly obey God and not suffer. I'd rather believe the Bible which says that ALL that live godly will SUFFER.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Believers Suffer? by Image123(m): 1:44pm On Mar 23, 2012
^When Jesus said we should walk in His steps, He's not saying we should all go and die on the cross, or walk on water or resurrect after three days. The point is that Christ suffered, and even the Bible calls it an example for believers to follow. All the apostles, ALL suffered. It's folly to come here and say suffering is borne out of ignorance, or that christians don't suffer.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Believers Suffer? by Image123(m): 11:43pm On Mar 22, 2012
Everybody suffers. It's sheer folly to say that or insinuate that only christians suffer. It's also hypocrisy to say that christians do not suffer. Even Jesus Christ suffered, and told us to follow His footsteps.
Christianity Etc › Re: What Body Does Jesus Have In Heaven? by Image123(m): 3:10pm On Mar 22, 2012
Aleatheia, the church IS the body of Christ. Either you believe that, or you don't. And yes, your bride is your body according to the Bible. The Bible is clear and i thought d average student should know that Christ is the Head and the church is the body. He has no other 'physical body' more specific. I said and i repeat
JESUS LEFT HIS BODY ON EARTH.
Once He rose, from the dead that is, He had no specific body than the church, and i thought Paul made that pretty clear. That He had no such body's shown in His post resurrection appearances where He simply appeared as the I AM what I AM. To Magdalene, He appeared like the gardener. To some, He appeared with pierced hands, on the road to Emmaus, He had no pierced hand or familiar face, at sea, He was someone else till they caught fish. To John at Patnos, He appeared as a Lamb seriously, to THE chapter one appearance to THE other chapters appearances. To some, He appears with long hair, blue eyes bla bla. He's the I AM really.

When will people believe that we are on devil's territory. We are strangers, and the WHOLE WORLD lies in the evil one. The Word tells us to be sober and circumspect, but we act like we've got it all covered, and claim and grab it all. If for instance someone said tv's sin, he'll be viewed as ignorant.

Just to add to Matthew 1,

Mat 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
The book is Jesus centred, the testament is. Infact, the whole Bible is Jesus centred. Never forget that, for therein lies your purpose as a human. Also, Jesus is not only the Son of God but also the Son of David, and the Son of Abraham. He often reminded us that He was the Son of man. He came to earth as a man, to be our example, to suffer the things we suffer and tell us we can make it even as humans.
Mat 1:3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Tamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
Every little thing that we do, our decisions and our thoughts could be of eternal consequences. Judah's one night out, perhaps one hour or even less of 'fun', and it's still alluded to that his children were of Tamar(who was not his wife). Let's be careful and circumspect and learn to rely on God's grace and mercy.
Mat 1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Check out the play on numbers. One thing to note is that Christianity is not just science. With science, there's that need to be exact, precise. In christianity, there's a measured balance between precision, order and life. Any cursory glance at the geneology in other passages show some difference, even apparent omission of names. Those are not the exacts that matter with God. What God's Word produces is greater than grammar and history, it's Life. But like has been said, there's no excuse for disorderliness. Some messages can be exact, 3topics, 7 names, 12 passages, 14 generations in 3places. Some may not be. None of the two classes/styles should condemn the other or feel superior.(Philippians 2.3)
Mat 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Jesus was/is the child of the Holy Ghost, who is God.
Mat 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
A proof that Mary was a virgin, and that the relationship between Mary and Joseph was a chaste one and an example for young people to follow today.
Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Again in bolded, Jesus is of the Holy Ghost. He is the Son of God the Holy Ghost, and mysteriously Son of God the Father. Making the Holy Ghost and the Father one,yet two, alleluia.
Also, note the expression 'Mary thy wife'. Mary was already considered as Joseph's wife in heaven as they were already espoused. Courtship is sacred and approved in heaven. It's not a light thing where we just play with one another and defile our bodies. Yet still, we should await the physical joining by a representative of God before we engage in you know whats. these are qualities that made Joseph a just man and Mary a favoured lady.
Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
A most important verse. Right from the beginning, the purpose of Jesus, the reason for the new covenant is stated. He shall SAVE his people from their sin. This is the difference between the old testament and the new testament. SALVATION. Have you been saved? There is forgivenesss both in the old and new testaments, but SALVATIOn comes only in the new testament. God forgives us, good, very good. But it's no new thing. It's also been the teestimony from the old covenant (psalm 103v3). But the good news, the real gospel is that Jesus, not only forgives, but He can save us from sin. Many people walk in the old testament, with sins forgiven. But they do not walk in the light of the new testament, in power over sin. they are still under the power of stealing, fornication, mastur.bation, anger, and other sins. But Jesus Christ came FOR to save us from our sins. This is the good news, do you believe? If you cn believe, Jesus said, you would see the glory of God.
Mat 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
Mat 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Joseph was a wise man, he played his part.He did as he was told. When we make up our minds to do as God tells us, He immediately gives us the grace that we need for the task. Just felt to add this to what's been said, and tried not to make it too long. I pray it blesses you.

if u are not sent to preach as a man or woman, u cant?
whose not sent to preach as a christian. Every believer should preach the gospel.
John 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

Labourinng in the gospel, being a servant of god, and being written to do not equate TEACHING MEN IN CHURCH. Please be objective.

Goshen, some people want CHAPTER BY CHAPTER studies. Some(more it seems) people want TOPIC BY TOPIC. Simply let's have the two in different threads instead of just one i.e topical which is same ole.

Goshen, i guess CHAPTER BY CHAPTER will expire today. I'm sulking already. New look NL that puts a squirm on the eyes, same ol' same ol' TOPIC BY TOPIC suggestions. It should be same ol' nL and new CHAPTER BY CHAPTER. Anyways, goshen. Can we not have two different threads that satisfy the polled divide still?
Christianity Etc › Re: Does The Bible Really Forbid Women Preachers? by Image123(m): 12:59pm On Mar 18, 2012
Women can preach and should preach, but they are not expected to teach in church as seen in those passages. They can teach women and children the Word of God. They can also preach to/'evangelise' the BILLIONS of unsaved people (male or female) all over the world.
On no male and female in Christ, yes. There's no segregation in salvation. We all can be saved, we all can serve the Lord, obey the Lord, please Him all of our lives, there's no preference in that. But some aspects of life, there's male and female. Like in marriage, we don't say no male and female. In hard/menial labour, there should be a gracious difference. Hope you're clear?
