Christianity EtcRe: Cognitive Dissonance!church "apoints" First Openly Muslim Priest! by Iman3(op): 8:38pm On Aug 21, 2007
Good News! The disoriented "Priest" has been suspended -

SEATTLE, July 6 (UPI) — A Seattle Episcopal priest has been banned from her church for a year after revealing that she considers herself to be both a Muslim and a Christian.

The Rev. Ann Holmes Redding will take the 12-month timeout on the order of a church bishop who said in a statement she would "reflect on the doctrines of the Christian faith, her vocation as a priest, and what I see as the conflicts inherent in professing both Christianity and Islam."

The Seattle Times said Friday Redding was not willing to leave the church after 23 years.

"The church is going to have to divorce me if it comes to that," she told the Times. "I'm not going to go willingly."

The Rt. Rev. Geralyn Wolf, bishop of the Diocese of Rhode Island, has disciplinary authority over Redding. She ordered Redding "not exercise any of the responsibilities and privileges of an Episcopal priest or deacon."

Redding says she was drawn to Islam after an introduction to Muslim prayers that left her "profoundly moved."

Seun:
They didn't break any monopoly; they just appropriated the monopoly to themselves.
The difference with this monopoly or near monopoly is that it is far more incompetent than the old one.The argument is that at least this monopoly is indigenous.Their services might be crap but at least it is Nigerians that are provided this crap service, hence,we should support them.

Reminds me of when Nigeria took over control of the Shell refinery in Port-Harcourt-abysmal services but at least it is owned by Nigeria
PoliticsRe: Wallowing In Ignorance by Iman3(m): 12:32pm On Aug 21, 2007
Let's bear in mind that our problems are hardly unique nor particularly bad in the context of Sub-Saharan Africa. It is not a Nigeria problem but an African problem.

We have in Africa, a group of nations created at whim by foreigners and the inhabitants hardly have the experience or the expertise needed to run modern nation states.
PoliticsRe: Can Nigeria Be A Much Better Place Without ? by Iman3(m): 12:25pm On Aug 21, 2007
Nigeria would have been a better place without oil.The discovery of large quaintities of oil in a relatively short space of time distorted the economy and led to the creation of a mono-product economy.Other sectors of the economy have been neglected as our fortunes were inextricably tied to oil.

In the 70s,this problem was hardly noticeable by most Nigerians as we were basking in oil boom-oil prices adjusted for inflation reached $100 per barrel-and with a population of around 60-70 million, the distortion of the economy was not appreciated.

Unfortunately, commodity prices also go down as well go up and when the oil prices went down in the early 80s,our economic fortunes went down with it.Even with todays oil prices averaging $70 per barrel,we are still $30 below prices in the 70s.Remember,that during Abacha's era, prices averaged $16 per barrel. We now have a population of 140 million but neither oil production nor oil prices have kept pace with population growth.

How many goals did Tevez get last season? the guy doesnt have a goalscoring pedigree period. Man Utd is his first big team.I repeat Tevez is no striker the sooner you guys get a load of that fact the better for yall.
Most of last season,he was either on the bench or playing as a midfielder on the right. It was when he was moved to a contre-forward that the goals started flowing. He didn't start playing football last season anyway, you should say that was when you first started watching him

Please send Solksjaer back to norway he has won all he needs to win.My advice is for you guys to get a striker before transfer window closes.Period.Tevez is no striker as you saw today.Micah Richards had him in his pocket how much more when he faces even better defenders.

Hargreaves was good though
Tevez is no striker because he didn't play well in the last 2 matches? We should then ignore his outstanding record over the last 3 or 4 years. What a load of twaddle.

Tevez problem is lack of match fitness given that he didn't do any pre-season training due to the impasse sorrounding his transfer. He is a month away from regaining his fitness and sharpness. He was thrown into the squad beacuse of the unavailability of Saha and Rooney.

Any team with Saha,Rooney,Tevez and Soljskaer as strikers will eventually score goals once fitness problems are resolved.Minus Smith-this is the same group of strikers we won the Premiership with last seaon

In the game of football, "you are only as good as your last game".
By that measure Wigan are better than Chelsea and Spurs are better than Arsenal-they won 4-0,remember?Whichever way you look at it,this period offered the best opportunity for our rivals to put a gap between them and us and they failed to grasp that opportunity.

If you think Arsenal are playing well at the moment, then there isn't much hope for the club.Their performances against Fulham and Blackburn were quite mediocre.

You will soon be mugged by reality.Concentrate on the narrow 1 point gap between you and Spurs grin grin If you are honest with yourself, you wil acknowledge that your 2 performances in the league-against Fulham and Blackburn-hardly inspire confidence.

This is going to be one of those funny seasons were a lot of people's hopes have been raised for nothing grin grin

If you know anything about footie, you will know that the gap between Utd and City is insignificant. What is significant is the gap between Spurs and Arsenal. They finished one place behind you over the last 2 seasons. You better keep an eye on them since they have been running you close for 2 seasons in a row  grin I can't wait.  grin

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Iman3(m): 6:09pm On Aug 19, 2007
Our fundamental problem is goal scoring.I still think we will get that right sooner rather than later. There have been seasons were Utd were downright awful-defence was hopeless, midfield was non-existent and attack was toothless.

So far,the sole problem has been the attack.I know that Utd has never really had a season long problem with attack.Hence.I'm confident we will remedy that very soon.

A 5 point gap is hardly insourmountable. The performances of Chelsea,Arsenal and Liverpool have been hardly exciting-contrast with the barnstorming start we had last season. Our rivals have only been managing narrow single goal victories-largely thanks to generous refereeing decisions.

When we look beyond the surface-we see a 5 points gap with 35 games to play and 2 of our key players yet to return.Count in the African Cup of Nations which will deprive many of our rivals of key players and you will understand why my optimism hasn't waned a jot.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Iman3(m): 6:01pm On Aug 19, 2007
All I know is that a 2 point gap is hardly daunting especially when your game in hand is away to Newcastle grin grin The only game you managed to win, against Fulham, you hardly looked convincing. It is not even going to take that long to overtake you guys grin grin
