RomanceThe Viral Video Of Woman Who Shamed Her Boyfriend by infonubia(op): 8:27pm On Oct 09, 2013
The internet went agog yesterday after pictures of a 20-year-old Chinese woman who was arrested after belittling her 23-year-old boyfriend by forcing him to kneel in the street and repeated slapping him surfaced online.

The woman, who Hong Kong police said has the surname Cheng, was apprehended and charged with simple assault.

The disagreement was sparked when it emerged the boyfriend, whose name is Chui, had bought another woman home (possibly the other woman in the video – a sister, or friend). He denied the accusation in the clip, claiming there was a misunderstanding.

“Why did you tell her to go to your apartment?” Cheng says in a translated version of the video.

"Listen to me first before beating me,” the man responds. “I told her not to come.”

Cheng, was later arrested while Chui was taken to hospital.

Here's the translated video...

What the heck is wrong with people like this? Something is definitely wrong with our society!

Yesterday, it was the story about a daycare worker who sexually abused two babies. And today, it's the story of another grandma from hell!

A Chicago grandmother who was supposed to be looking after her granddaughter instead brutally murdered the infant, police say.

Alfreda Giedrojc, 61, was left to babysit the 6-month-old child while her grandfather went across the street to visit another relative Sunday morning, CBS Chicago reported.

Alone with the child, Giedrojc allegedly laid her on the floor and grabbed a sledgehammer that she had placed in a closet the night before. Prosecutors say Giedrojc then swung the hammer down on the baby's head and body several times. The baby was still moving and crying, so Giedrojc took a carving knife, picked the baby up, and slit her throat, Cook County State Attorney Spokeswoman Tandra Simonton told CNN.

The child was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly before 2 p.m. Giedrojc was ordered held without bond Monday on a charge of first-degree murder, the Chicago Tribune reported.

"I have never seen anything like it," Oak Lawn Police Chief Mike Murray said. Murray said officers who responded to the call have been offered counseling.

Oak Lawn Det. Mike Kaufmann said the Giedrojc expressed remorse for the child's death, and investigators have found no record of previous arrests or mental illness.

If she had no record of mental illness, then what possessed her? This is the height of insanity!

PhonesHow Often Do You Check Your Phone? by infonubia(op): 9:09pm On Oct 08, 2013
According to figures collected by a screen lock app, the average user actually checks their phone around 110 times day.

During peak times this equates to once every six or seven seconds, with some users unlocking their devices up to 900 times over the course of a day, which in reality is around 18 hours.

The information was collected by Android app Locket, which monitored how many times its 150,000 users checked their phone over in a day.

The New York-based app pays users in return for showing adverts on their lockscreens.

According to the data, an average user checks their device - which means they activate the screen by pressing the home or power button or they unlock the device - 110 times per day.

In one particular case, a Locket user locked and unlocked their phone up to 900 times.

During peak hours, when users are most active, between 5pm and 8pm, over 75 per cent of people unlock their phones and actively use them.

During off peak hours - between 3am and 5am - this figure drops to 24 per cent but still shows a quarter of people are using their devices in the early hours.

At peak times, the average person checks their device around nice times an hour. Off peak, this drops to four times an hour.

Between blogging and keeping up with social media, I'm almost certain my phone check is above average.

With everything going mobile and as more people rely on their smartphones for for everything from social media to driving directions, you can only expect the number to increase.

How many times do you check your phone? Twice a day? Once every hour? More often? Leave a comment.

If this isn't crazy, I don't know what else is. One Ohio daycare worker is accused of doing the unthinkable!

Heather Koon, 25, was arrested Friday at her home in Oberlin, Ohio and charged with two counts of molestation after police say they inadvertently found a video of her "engaging in sexual conduct with an unknown infant" on her laptop.

Upon further investigation, the police learned about about an additional victim, according to reports.

Police found the video on Heather's laptop at the apartment where her sex offender boyfriend, James Osborne lives. Both of them were arrested on October 4.

At her arraignment yesterday, prosecutors said that the state has "very strong evidence" against Heather, and stated that her alleged victims were between the ages 1 and 2. Her bond was set at $2 million - $1 million for each felony count.

It was reported that both assaults took place at ABC Kidz Childcare in Elyria where Heather was a full-time employee from August 2012 to March 2013, according to the daycare attorney. The childcare center is cooperating with law enforcement as they continue investigation.

This story breaks my heart for the poor children and their parents. Who would have expected that something like this could happen in a daycare?

Sadly, this isn't the first time a daycare employee has been accused of molesting children. In 2012, an instructor at a Pittsburgh daycare was sentenced to at least 35 years in prison for sexually assaulting 12 boys over a period of several years.

albacete: omo dis na end time watch.

Truth be told, the watch is just there to remind oneself that time waits for no one. The prediction it will make as to when death will come calling will be a very rough estimate. Nobody (except criminals on death row) knows d day and time it will happen.
While I doubt the accuracy of this watch, I'm almost certain that it relies heavily on the user's health information and lifestyle. Remember it's a prediction. Some times it will be accurate and other times it won't. I wouldn't think it can account for anomalies like accidents, assassinations, and all sorts. If any thing, it'd be a constant reminder that time is of the essence and users can plan their lives better.

You made a very valid point though.

Would you like to know when you will die? Now there's a watch that not alone predicts when you'll die, it also starts counting down.

Introducing Tikker, a watch that was created by Swedish inventor Fredrik Colting. Dubbed the 'death watch', Colting calls it 'The Happiness Watch' and claims it has been designed to help people make the most of their life and cherish the time they have left.

"Imagine someone told you that you only had one year left to live. How would that change your life? For all of us life comes with a best-before date," said Colting.
While death is non-negotiable, life isn't. All we have to do is learn how to cherish the time and the life that we have been given; seize the day and follow our hearts.
According to the Daily Mail, Colting came up with the idea when his grandfather passed away.

How it works

Users fill out a questionnaire about their medical history (from smoking and drinking to exercise history) before subtracting their age from the overall results to get their death score. This score is entered into the Tikker and the countdown begins!

The top row of the watch's digital display shows years, months and days, while the second row counts down hours, minutes and seconds. The bottom row shows the local time.

The watch will be ready to ship by April 2014 and it will cost just $59 a piece. The design team created kickstarter account to raise $25,000. At the time of this report, the group has raised $9,657 with 24 days left.

Watch the video here and let us know what you think.

HealthThe Importance Of Sleep by infonubia(op): 4:39pm On Oct 07, 2013
Are you sleep deprived? Or are you one of those who feel like just 4 hours of sleep is what their bodies need to get going?

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), sleep is increasingly recognized as important to public health, with sleep insufficiency linked to motor vehicle crashes, industrial disasters, and medical and other occupational errors. Unintentionally falling asleep, nodding off while driving, and having difficulty performing daily tasks because of sleepiness all may contribute to these hazardous outcomes.

One of iNub valued readers sent in this poem titled "Sleep."

Enjoy and share your thoughts.

SLEEP

Respite to the mind betrayed through illnesses
An escape for a mind so exhausted
Yes even a lunatic is sane in his sleep
A switch off in the midst of storms so persistent

A portal into peacefulness
The only chance to catch a breath so needed
The doorway to Neverland
The place where dreams live

Even the bars on a prisoner's jail fades
And freedom he finds in his sleep
It gently peels down the fear, the walls, and worries
Revealing a Vulnerability so human.

Now I can't wait to go to sleep
Pass me the divines analgesic for living
Cause this life is all a dream
And everything comes to life in sleep

Daniel Ihekina, the Nigerian teenager who evaded airport security and sneaked into the tire section of a flight just before the wheels went up for take off, just found himself an American buddy. Only that this time, his buddy is much younger and didn't risk his life like Daniel.

According to a NY Daily News report, a 9-year-old Minneapolis boy was able to sneak past airport security and boarded a Delta Airline flight from Minneapolis to Las Vegas without appearing to have ever held or shown a boarding pass.

The U.S Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials were scratching their heads to figure out how the unnamed boy made it on board.

Despite several layers of security and fear of global threats to the nation's airports, the unaccompanied child "went through the entire security screening process" Thursday without a hitch, according to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport spokesman Patrick Hogan.

As the flight was making its land, the flight attendants grew suspicious of the boy and alerted the authorities. Upon landing, the Las Vegas Police Department greeted the boy and placed him in custody with child protective services.

Security footage shows the boy was there the day before, the station reported, citing airport officials. He passed his time by taking luggage from a carousel, bringing it to an airport eatery and then ditching it, asking a server to watch the bag "while he went to the restroom."

The following day the child took the train to the airport, cleared security and nearly made it to Las Vegas without detection.

The boy is still in the custody with child protective service.

So much for TSA doing their job!

Who should take the blame?

Would you blame TSA who obviously dropped the ball on this one, or Delta Airline whose unaccompanied minor (children between ages 5 to 14) policy requires that someone from Delta pay special attention to unaccompanied children, walk them on board, show them their seats and even introduce them to the cockpit crew?

I think both parties dropped the ball on this one. But given the current security situation with a potential for a terrorist activities, TSA should take a bigger portion of the blame. What do you think?

Nairaland GeneralGeorgia Woman Revealed As Voice Of Siri by infonubia(op): 2:58pm On Oct 05, 2013
The voice of Apple's voice assistant Siri has been revealed as Georgia-based voice-over actress Susan Bennett.

Bennett made the revelation to CNN, eight years after lending her voice to a 2005 project for ScanSoft, which eventually acquired Nuance, the company that powers Siri. As a result, Bennett did not know she would one day be the voice behind a pop culture icon. When Siri was released on the iPhone 4S in 2011, it was friends who recognized her voice and filled her in.

Nuance and Apple declined to comment on Bennett's revelation to CNN, but the cable channel hired an audio forensics expert to compare her voice to the voice answering queries on iPads and iPhones around the globe. "They are identical - a 100 percent match," the expert told CNN.

Bennett kept quiet about the fact that she was Siri until a September feature from The Verge led some to believe that voiceover actress Allison Dufty was Siri, something Dufty denied.

Amidst the confusion, Bennett decided to reveal that she was actually the voice of Siri. She'd spoken with CNN's Jessica Ravitz a few months ago for a separate story on the voices that power announcements at airports, at which time Ravitz had quite by accident asked if Bennett was the voice of Siri. Bennett was coy at the time, but recently came back to Ravitz to reveal her secret.

With iOS 7, users now have the option to select a male version of Siri, so Bennett's voice might not be as omnipresent as it once was. Her voice does not power Siri around the globe; in Nov. 2011, the voice of Siri in the U.K. was revealed, while the Australian Siri stepped forward earlier this year.
