nedu2000:

most(all) structural engrs in oil & gas industry r contract workers, structures & oil and gas rarely mix!!

Rarely mix? i doubt that...offshore construction and platform designs are done by structural engineers. U should subscribe to oil and gas journals from rigzone, oilcareers and oilgrads to get deeper knowledge of how diverse that industry is. Don't limit structural engineers to this country alone, try countries like canada where you see a vast resource of oil sand, even geotechnical engineers are very much involved in the oil and gas industry, talk more of structural engineers. Oil and gas industry is very diverse, each region deals with so many issues, places like austin , houston, alaska, north darkota...a wide range of disciplines are needed like geoengineering etc as a structural engineer, you can also work as a construction superintendant/supervisor/manager/eengineer depending on youя experience and youя knowledge of the rudiments involved.

.
If women are bringing bastards home to their husbands, isn't it also possible that the men themselves have sired children whose paternities have been transferred to other husbands...especially since the men these women are cheating with are not imported men?

Of course, you are right. But the woman kept the secret, so the man didn't know he has a child somewhere. Maybe, she wanted to protect her marriage or whatever her reason might have been. You know, my aunt always say that only a woman know the true father to her child. Both the man and woman are always involved but for a man to know he's the father of a child in another family and still keep it a secret is a different story. The question is ' did the otherman know he's the father of the child? This sh.it scares the hell outta me!

Politics / Re: Naira Has Lost It's Value - CBN by Insanity(m): 4:38pm On Sep 03, 2012
Godman_n: Every one in this forum rejected this evil Policy. 99.999% of Nigerians reject it. But a tiny cabal want to impose it on all of us.

The question now is: Are we all fools? Do we have masters and slaves in this country? If the cabal call us slaves and treat us as such, can't we for once make a statement that we are not?

We made a statement during the Fuel Subsidy impasse until the criminal labour leaders betrayed our course. can't we at least organize minimal protest?

Is their a law that forbids us from expressing our disgust in our little and lawful way against a "Criminal Government" and cabal. Some might come up with the argument that it is not government, or that enemies of GEJ wants to fight him for what is not making. But the fact is that the Government have the obligation to call Sanusi to order if he choose to betray the nation. The government at all times must protect our nation. Our currency is the foundation of our economy. Our economy is the foundation of our happiness.

So how many of us are willing to just print and wear an ordinary "Polo" shirts that will castigate our government officials for ever contemplating further destroying our dying economy? I suggested this and was about doing it during the fuel Subsidy until our public demostration led by Labour took over.

We can achieve a lot by doing this. We can turn it into a culture of insulting and shaming those in power. There is no law on earth that forbids one from wearing a Polo to express his feeling and anger. Moreso it will turn out the best campaign against our wicked Government.

If and when our youths (I mean the juveniles catches up with this), the mentality of an average Nigerian government will change and believe me, these Criminal will be afraid. If then they do not bend, a Revolution that will emerge from these mental education of an average youth will consume them.

I suggest that we print and wear Polo's castigating CBN and Government for ever contemplating this. I will be glad if we can all suggest beautiful designs and messages to be printed on the Polo. I will be happy if we all can turn to Printers, Distributors and wearers of the Polo's.

We can make a big statement with this. If we are not willing to do some thing to save this country; then we all should stop complaining and "enjoy" the pains they cause us.

How i wish We do this, chinese students are protesting rite now for changes made in their education curriculum. Its a pity, We accept any policy thrown at us that obviously wasn't made with good intention at heart. We've lost all hope of redemption and now waiting on God to save us, very funny, let's be realistic, We gotta fight for ourselves or forget about a good Nigeria. Its never gonna happen when We just sit and complain...how i wish another protest starts, We have so many reasons to march to do streets but as usual, 'All man for himself'.

Billyonaire: Seduction is not applicable to men. Its female thing. Men woo...... and you know how. But if a certain guy at work place is using the cock technique instead of flaunting his plus factors and approaching you directly, He is not man enough.

Seduction is applicable to both male and female. Seduction for men needs to be sleek and smooth. The lady should not know she's bin seduced till d deed has bin done. It takes time and patience. A lot of practice is needed, once she knows its seduction, the game is over, because she starts to be conscious of your actions, then you need to withdraw for a while and wait for your next chance...and so on. Its hard to elaborate if you are not already in d groove...patience is d key! i don't have d time anymore, got more important things in life rite now..paper trail, u know...time is money!

Help me tell them I....the surprising thing is that the forever living products mobile catalogue is not even giving commission but the whole profit...the platform was primarily designed to help newly signing on persons...had no regrets with them....and no yeye payments. The only thing I have ever paid for is 2k to have the mobile app entry name which my customers just put in...and all their orders via the app come to me from that first day on....it's been easy walahi..

How did U apply for this sales position? i've sent an email titled 'recruit' with my name, city and country in the body of the mail to info@flpexperience.com as someone directed in this thread and am yet to receive any reply from them. Am i supposed to write a cover letter and submit my cv? 'Cuz based on what people are saying here, they got a reply barely minutes after sending the mail. Please, i need to know how you applied.

We are so lazy dt we want 2 sit in office doin notin, at month end we get a fixed salary. Meanwhile dat marketer in d same company wt u is earning mor dan u. Forever living is a reputable company, and believe me, their product is nt hard 2 sell.

I can work in any Civil/structural or Engineering firm, construction or consulting firm as a constrcution engineer/supervisor/superintendent. i can also work in a dredging company. i supervise site/construction works and liaise with consultants and contractors on project related issues. Am currently in warri but i can still relocate to any location, local or international. Thanks.

sholah: Hello all,

Just found myself in d civil engineering profession after spending sometime in IT and management trainee scheme (in all for about 4 years after graduation).I would like to improve myself. I was immediately thrown into a construction site by my manager without any experience whatsoever. I intend to use this thread as my "mentor" and I am indeed gonna be asking a lot of basic and sometimes "dumb" questions. I hope I wud get patient and understanding pple to reply me. Meanwhile, I d like to know about good self explanatory books on RC structual analysis and design.

Thanks

From IT to construction, i am speechless, what a country, and without any experience what so ever while so many Civil Engineering graduates are still searching for job placements. *smh. Well, going to your request, its gonna be hard for you i have to say. You need to have a very strong foundation in Engineering maths and advance physics to even understand the formulars and equations you will see in any of those Structural Engineering books. i'll suggest Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures by Oyenuga Vol 2. Its really good and has examples of building plans and design calculations at the last pages. Goodluck wif that.

That's why its called 'music industry',its a fcukin business. You don't expect what you see in her videos to be her real self. What do you have to say 'bout Rihanna then? After her 'hard' video and the infamous 'beat' by chris brown. FYI, most celebs i know have a low self esteem. You can't control who you fall for and only she can decide what is best for her, even if its the wrong one, its still her decision to make.
You won't buy her album anymore? Good for you.. Once she's able to release a good music, it will sell! #stopHating, its exhausting, don't you think so?

I have my resume in those sites though am just a fresh graduate with little or no experience in the oil industry. Am still hoping to hear from one those companies one day, but for now, i want to pay for my resume to be appraised, i guess the possibility of them calling me will increase if my little experience is been showcased in a professional format. Career / Re: Can I Make It With, B.eng In Civil Engr by Insanity(m): 11:25pm On Jul 12, 2012
That's not a good question to ask. You can be successful in whatever you do if you are hard working, zealous etc., doesn't matter which degree you got in school.
As a civil Engineer, you have to decide which career path you want. Can you design with the latest softwares; AutoCaD, SACs, STAADpro, PDMS etc. A Civil Engineer has options of industries to venture into, you can decide to be on youя own, a freelancer, design reinforced concrete structures, steel structures with youя AutoCAD for clients and get paid. If you want to be in the petroleum industry, you need SACs, STAADpro, PDMS, HYSYS etc all these are design softwares that most of the companies use for oil and gas designs, plant design, offshore platforms.
Which specialization in Civil Engineering did you major in? Geotechnical, Structural, Transport,Enviromental resources or water resources? Decide on which one you have a passion for and very strong in, start now to know about the industry its very relevant to, because that's how you know the skills you need to acquire.
i hope that was helpful to the question you asked? Am a Civil Engineer like you, just finished my service year and am loving the petroleum industry. Right now, i am onto skill acquisition, i want to learn PDMS, P&id pipeline process design, if am lucky enough, SACs and STAADpro. All these softwares are quite costly to learn but there are some low priced online design training you can subscribe to,i know of some that are ok. Nigerian schools don't train you on these, you have to be determined enough to know what you want and go for it. Gear up bro, the journey just started.

Peace!

Hi, I won't lie, the school (IFP) is not bad O. The employment rate there is >>>50% which makes it a good risk for your money.

IFP is a school that specializes mainly in anything concerning energy, oil and gas. Your 2.1 is never inferior for admission. My fear for you is that you may not be lucky to get an oil company willing to sponsor your studies. This is not because of your grade, which I believe is more than enough for admission, but it is because nailing a company like Total, Shell, Saudi Aramco, Technip and co to fully sponsor your studies is very competitive and generally not easy. Even Europeans don't find it easy. On a good note though, you can compete with other Nigerians in naija and if you succeed then Total naija will completely sponsor your studies at IFP. I must state again that this is very possible but not easy.

Mhen, just claim one kind basic level in French. But you must be able to prove it during your interview, if granted one. There is an integration program at IFP Paris and all students who don't know French will be expected to learn the language within a few months. Not all programs are taught in French, some are in English.

To your question about Geotech, please see here http://www.ifp-school.com/default.asp?id=38. From what I saw, I am not sure it is offered at IFP.

Am a civil Engineering graduate 2:1, am thinking of going for my postgraduate studies abroad, US/Canada preferably.
i don't want to specialize this early in my career 'cuz i'll b restricted to certain areas. Am thinking of doing Geotechnical Engineering M.Eng. Is dis a good choice in the sense that i want to be eligible for oil and gas jobs, or should i do masters in a petroleum related field. i don't want to do the later 'cuz i don't have much basic background in petroleum.
Any ideas on top schools for masters in Geotechnical Engineering that have good graduate recruitment rate by employers, oil and gas companies to be precise. Thanks.

@T22 i need your advice on the above post. i also need to know more on IFP...don't mind my ignorance but i'll like to know what it means, their prerequistes for entry, do they offer M.Eng Geotechnical Eng.,it seems to be a very good school.what's their minimum CGPA for entry, do i really need to be fluent in french to get entry 'cuz from ya previous posts, its a french institution. Please reply T22 thanks.
