RxOtunba: That's why you need to do a lot of research for your SOP. State figures, projections and the realistic goals you want to achieve in Nigeria with your Masters. Your post above is a good start, your major reason for choosing Windsor has to be your statement in parenthesis above, with weblink to the school startup page, just expand on it. You need to go deeper into the Pharm. industry in Nigeria. This is what I did in my SOP, I am in the energy industry, I quoted projections from international organisations in Nigeria or abroad, with weblink to the articles, industry policies and upcoming projects. Anyone reading could see the future with me in it with my masters. I quoted the expected earnings in Naira and CAD for the future positions that I am gunning for if I achieve a foreign degree from Canada. Also, I quoted lecturers at Windsor (Windsor is a member of an energy research institute) in the industry as the reason I am going to Windsor, with weblink to their profile, projects and website. My interest in them and what I hope to implement from the knowledge I will gain was also included. Your SOP has to be very detailed like a paper, with references to your statements, such as documents you attached to your application and so forth. What ever you write on your SOP should have evidence, either attached to your application, or a weblink to the page etc. 3 Likes |

RxOtunba: Yeah, you can pay the first semester tuition and transfer the rest of the funds to your personal account. Your CRS is too low, though you can boost it with another certificate, BC in IT, LIMA or TEF can do that. But I think studies is the best route for you at the moment. Do you have admission already at Windsor? For which session? 1 Like |

RxOtunba: Your US Visa denials have no effect on your Canadian Study Permit Application, you must declare in your SP application that you were denied and state the dates in the given section to avoid 5year visa ban. UWindsor is a good school and your sponsor transferring the money to your account is a good idea too. Just make it 4 months prior to your application, and he should explain the lodgement of the funds in his sponsorship letter. You have a good profile and career progression fi your going for Masters(you didn't say), however, don't you think Express Entry will be better for you. Mid 20s, good occupation with experience. You can check your CRS points and weigh your options. Let wait for the gurus to give more insight. Goodluck! |

Rootiab: One well-known reputable agent in Lagos also told me that I don't have a chance, due to my profile. I did the online application myself, I received my Passport Request Letter a few days ago. Once you have an admission from a DLI institution and the required funds, you're eligible for a Study Permit application. Goodluck. 2 Likes |

Iceman2020: Yeah, a lot, me included. I got MR, AIP, and did biometrics more than 2 months ago. I've sent webform and emails to all the IRCC contacts and offices I know of, and I am still waiting for my application update. I think it is because my school is not on the readiness plan list yet, I am hoping for 17th Nov now. It will end in praise! 4 Likes |

Dbankx1: If I were you, I will include my parent's birth certificates in the client information section and upload financial documents such as account statements, affidavits, CAC docs, sponsor's payslips, gift deeds etc. in the proof of funds section. I will also mention in my SOP all this information and where they can be located in my application. This is why I advice to include a table of content page as the first page in any merged pdf, this page will contain the description of the documents merged in the file and the page numbers. Goodluck! 1 Like |

Dbankx1: Your transcripts are supposed to be merged with other supporting documents in pdf file format and uploaded on the Client Information section. Please, read page one of this thread before you apply to ensure you're not making any mistake. Do not be in a rush, do it right the first time. Check out the link below for the application procedure, how to merge documents and where to upload them. https://www.nairaland.com/4773130/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/33#72169936 1 Like |

Olaidecool: You can email MUN Admissions Coordinator or your department's international liaison office to confirm this. In Memorial University Engineering Masters program, MEng is a thesis based degree(research) while MASc is a course based degree. This is in contrast to most of the other DLIs. If you are going for a research based degree, I will advice you, based on my personal experience with them, not to apply if you don't receive a go-ahead or positive response from a supervisor, even though they mentioned that you don't need to get a supervisor to apply. The school website can be a bit tricky to navigate, make sure you're getting the right information, that's why I advice you contact your department for more information. Goodluck! 2 Likes |

TeeMade: I don't think the number of pages matters, but ensure your SOP is straight to the point. Every paragraph must have a role in the overall story you're trying to tell. My SOP was 4 pages. I created a table of content for all the documents I submitted in each online application upload section. Each document has a reference number in the table of content, so in my SOP, I quoted the reference number of the document that I was using as evidence of that part of my story. For instance, when I wrote about my degree, after the sentence, I included the reference number of my degree certificate, just like a research paper. This way, the VO can easily refer to my table of content to see the document sequentially. Everything I wrote in my SOP has a document I attached as evidence. If I don't have any evidence, I won't include it. I used this format that you just quoted, with the sections. Include only the sections that works for your application, sections that you have legit documents as prove. Goodluck! 5 Likes 1 Share |

Luckymama: Those are good points you stated there, one year will be a tough time to get a job and apply for your PR. But there are other criteria for getting points on the EE or CEC routes. Even on the CEC, people still get the requirements with a year program and a year PGWP and get their PR. So everyone can't follow the same path, we need to explain the details for the person to make an informed decision or direct the person to a weblink to read and make the decision themselves. 1 Like 1 Share |

Dos2020: If you're going for a 2-years program, you're sponsoring yourself and you don't have any other means of income when you're there, I will advice you have the total funds i. e. Full Tuition and Living expenses for the 2 years plus miscellaneous funds for flight (4kCAD or so). But if you have a sponsor, you should only provide tuition and living expenses for 1-year, then sponsor's evidence of means of income for the subsequent years. Disclaimer - This is just my opinion, it is not a compulsory IRCC requirements. IRCC only requests for tuition and living expenses for 1 year. Check the official study permit checklist for Nigerians for more information. |

Nellyoo: Hope you're aware that 1-year program can only fetch you 1 year PGWP. If your plan in the end is to pursue PR, this might not be good for you. I advice you go for a program 16-24 months in length, which will lead to a 3-years PGWP, enough time to apply for PR. I thought you mentioned getting a sponsor in your initial post. If you have your full tuition and additional 11kCAD as living expenses, If I were you, i will include 5kCAD for miscellaneous like flight expenses and others, that should be enough for a 1-year program. But remember you will only get 1-year PGWP. A PGD program is okay because you have HND. He doesn't need the HR to sign, mine was signed by my manager, but all the other items were fulfilled, letterhead etcetera I don't think 300k worth of shares can get you a strong home tie, in my opinion. How many units can that amount purchase? From your profile, you graduated last year, you've not had any paid employment, I don't think the VO would be looking for assets to tie you to your home country. Goodluck! |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Insanity(m): 10:58am On Jul 28, 2020 |
Nellyoo: If the employment is an unpaid graduate intern position, you can submit an employment reference letter. A detailed reference letter would work perfectly in your application. The letter should be in the company's official letter headed paper and should highlight the following - 1. Your job start date, 2. Your job responsibilities and duties with the said company, 3. The number of hours you work per week, 4. The letter should confirm the fact that the company is aware of your wish to acquire an advanced knowledge in the field of xxxxxx at xxxxxx school, Canada. 5. The letter should be written by the HR and duly signed. - I was assisted by Frank with this statement above For the home ties, you're a young new graduate, I don't think the VO would be expecting you to have assets, I think your family will okay, but you will have to state how important your family is to you in your SOP. Your major concern should be your funds, make sure everything is as clear as water for the VO. I advice that your living expenses should be in your account, sent by your sponsors, and stated in your SOP clearly. They should pay a semester fee too, then provide evidence of their capability to pay for your subsequent expenses in the following year, depending on the length of your program. Why are you going for a PGD? What was your first degree on? Your GPA? Because if you got second class upper and your going for a PGD, that might raise a red flag. I'm just an applicant like you too, so this is just my own thoughts. Every application is different, but one thing you should do is to present a clear application with evidence to proof all you stated in your SOP. Goodluck. 1 Like 1 Share |

Aquanitavit: The English proficiency letter or test certificate is not a compulsory requirement for the visa application. I just attached it to my application because I have it already, since last year even. If that is the only document remaining for you to apply, you can apply without it, it all depends on you. Goodluck. |
