I saw this and was like shocked

My ppl. A bu m nwafo. I was posted to Kwara. Had my PPA at Tsaraji next to Share.

In conclusion, I was grateful to NYSC for opening my eyes. It was wonderful being with other tribes and nationalities. The Nupes and Yorubas were caring and wonderful people. I learnt so much about their culture that later helped me to settle down well in Lagos.

If you adopt an open mind you see the very good side of the people. But if you are negative, you end up seeing only the negatives you carry come.

Very true!!

I was born in Lagos state and have spent most of my life in the southwest but I am actually Hausa. I Have never been to the south-east or south-south part of Nigeria despite having many friends from the region. I had been to practically every region apart from the SE AND SS.

As the saying goes, experience is the best teacher and nothing prepares you for the unknown as much as the NYSC does. I remember the day i got my Call up letter like it was yesterday. We had all gathered in front of the faculty officers office awaiting our turns to get called in for our Posting letters. Many people came out of the office rejoicing and this gave me a little bit of hope but boy was i wrong. I knew i wasn't going to get what i expected when i noticed the countenance of the officer as he handed the letter to me.As I stared down at my call up letter with the bold words written on it 'A State in the South east', I couldn't help but let the flow of mixed feelings come through. At first i was dazed, then slowly the reality of my situation began to creep in. I could feel my heart shredding into several pieces with every beat. This was probably due to the negative stories (kidnapping, fraud and etc) and pictures I had heard and seen in the media. While others were rejoicing about their states of deployment, I simply walked to a corner to let hot tears that had welled up in my eyes fall freely.

At that moment, Google became my best friend and the Nigerian Map became my Companion. Who knew the southern Province occupied about 1/3 times the size of Nigeria? Before then, i didn’t….lol!. Since desperate times requires desperate measures, lots of things went through my mind with the first being how to change my state of deployment but since i wasn't married, Heavily pregnant or sick & living with a serious health condition, my hopes of changing my state of deployment flew out the window, my fate had been sealed.

I Had my camp in Enugu and was posted to Calabar.
On getting to Enugu state, I found the place to be Dirty and rowdy. The camp was even worse than most of the NYSC camps I had visited in other states (mine included). My roommates were fun and lively. Fortunately for me, 3 of us were from the same department in school, so we kinda had an upper hand in bonding with the others.

After finally completing the registration process at my PPA, I was so uncomfortable and angry. The lodge I was provided was tiny and stuffy,
and at night the mosquitoes came en masse on their power bikes. My first night was dreadful, I couldn’t sleep. Throughout the night, I made a
mental note on getting a new apartment the
next day. The next day I asked around for where I could get an apartment around my PPA. I finally got one and I spent two days buying stuffs and tidying the place up.

In summary, It was a horrible expireInce, everyone there was abrasive and were not polite. They always tried to deceive people. I will never wish that experience on anyone.

You had your camp in Enugu, and was posted to Calabar? Continue deceiving yourself...you certainly aren't deceiving us!

I relate with what she's saying. In two northern cities (Kano and Kaduna) and on two different occasions, I've been privy to some information.

I saw firsthand where Nigeria's future was being discussed. I am not talking about postulates. I mean, proposals were put forward as to how to run what.

They debated, but in the end, they all agreed on one thing. I was too young to make a meaning of it at the time, but seeing this now, it reminds me of a lot.

The one that's still fresh on my mind was one occasion where NDA admission for that year was being discussed. Even worse, they had the papers right there in front of them. They placed calls through to friends whose kids applied and automatically entered their names in the final list. In my head, I was like, wow.

If you've been privileged enough to enter where power brokers meet, you will understand. I saw it, and from my experience, I can never say never.

Mamman Daura, I know, is devil reincarnate, along with Adamu Ciroma. The kaduna mafia is real and is always alive. Whenever the northern cabal is mentioned, that's them. The real men aren't even these ones that have been mentioned. But, lipsrsealed.

I'm just wondering if all this drama will lead to any convictions. He did good setting up task force, getting warrants and arrestin suspected currupt officials. As we know that's easy part. Can his team of prosecutors land convictions. They need evidence to back trial and don't haste too much.

The government can't afford to look foolish again like when they had to withdraw forgery charges against Saraki & Ekweremadu. The perception of Buhari is mixed already it will only give his critics ammo to lambast him.

What I don't understand why the kept the money in house like a El Chapo. The reasonal thing to do is to launder the cash through business. Since Nigeria heavily cash based society it wouldnt be too difficult.

You actually understand...you just haven't thought thoroughly about it. One thing is to have cash, the other is to have an entrepreneurial mindset. Especially for people who get easy money, it's difficult to devise the strategic entrepreneurial ideas to disguise the cash. It requires a creativity and confidentiality that is rare....

Nice write-up all the same! Buhari needs to get his acts right. He should stop providing cannon fodder to ridicule the office of the president of Nigeria. That's what I'm more concerned about. Presidents come and go, but NIGERIA remains!!

Everyone is presumed guilty unless tried by a court of competent jurisdiction according to extant laws!

Nice move Mr. President.

The only fault I have is that this should have been one of your very first moves.

Well maybe now the cases before the other judges will proceed speedily, after all, justice delayed is justice denied.

Castling is a strategic move. It depends on your gambit and your psychological play. Timing and deception are every thing! Sometimes, it pays to appear weak and clueless....then you strike and conquer all!!

I wonder why the mordern Biafran soilders have not break KANU prison and freed him by now or they are waiting for Supreme Court of Nigeria to give verdict in favour of a man that holds a Nigerian, UK, Biafran passports at thesame time.

I pray that his case will not be like that of Ken Saro Wiwa that was executed by no nonsense Sanni Abacha and nothing happened. The Biafran thing should have make sense during Abacha regime then you will realize that Pastor Yakubu Gowon was a nice Christian at such a tender age( check Gown age during the civil war).

the station to me is a hate radio and nigeria was right to pull it down from broadcasting in Nigeria...

as much as dey dnt wanna accept it, they are propaganda who make silly claims jst to make people buy their ideology... e.g. when the presenter said buhari imports grass to feed his cows ( doesn't dat sound foolish?)

as much as we all hate police men but so many things are not clear in this story.
1. how did you know they were police men when u said they were in mufti?

2. I have never seen a man that would ask for direction from a police man, not in Nigeria.

3. if you want to ask for direction, you don't do that on motion but either Park or slow down to ask. saying he jumped into the car is funny somehow.

4. are u sure the issue was all about one way or not because with the pix shown their it looked as if it wasn't a one way issue.

5. you refused to tell us what eventually happened and how the issue was resolved or charged to court.

yes we know Nigeria police are irrational most times but at the same time let us find out the truth and it would set us free

ademega submission.

Not good to make hasty generalizations... you're wrong on one score: I always prefer to ask policemen for directions, especially when in a strange town. I have done it countless times, and they have always obliged.

I'm actually surprised you could think otherwise, because much as I don't like the police, I've found that politeness assists with them, especially when they can pin nothing on you.

I will not bandy words with someone who obviously has no basic home training. I mainly made a polite observation based on my experience...certainly not like your arm-chair critic position. I hate know-it-alls, especially when the lack basic decorum!!

You seem to know what millions of South Easterners think, and how suddenly they develop deep rooted feelings!! People like you are the problem with Nigeria: Not smart enough to keep an open mind on what they don't know, and without the morality or discipline to keep quiet.

sweetgala:

Really, I'd advise you cut off your tentacles cause they ain't feeling anything.

The prime reason Nnamdi Kanu otherwise regional support has expanded so greatly was because of the defeat the SE majority suffered at the polls over a year ago. Suddenly many indifferent Igbo decided they were being marginalized in a APC government they had little representation in at the party level.

Please stop trying we are not deceived, If some SE fellows want biafra they should compel their elected representatives to bring their case to the right body to deliberate such an issue; cue in the senate ! otherwise they can elect those who will come 2019.

The president does not have the constitutional authority to break a certain part of Nigeria up, does not have the power to enforce Federalism, does not have the constitutional power to declare a referendum, all that is under the purview of the NASS.

Any IPOB member who wants Biafra has a representative in the NASS, you know where their constituency office is, do what is truly necessary, to bring about the change you want.

The Nigerian state has every right under all international laws, to see any violent uprising which does not seek the above path as a national security threat that can be put down with military force.

"Nigeria fought 30 months civil war; at least two million
Nigerians were killed. For somebody to wake up, maybe he wasn't born during the civil war and to be claiming Biafra again.
"We have a multi-party system, let them organise
themselves and vote for whoever they prefer.
But to try and interfere with the economy and unity of Nigeria and looking for Biafra after the loss of two million people; They are joking with Nigeria's security and it will not be tolerated."
~ President Muhammadu Buhari

One can deduce from this statement that Buhari believes that the agitation is because of his election victory... How wrong!! I mean, from my feelers and personal interview with adherents, I know that nothing can be further from the truth.

I hope this isn't a reflection of the quality of feedback Buhari gets??

You're not thinking right! And I speak as an Igbo man. One of the things we are trying to teach our brothers is the power of synergy and partnership. This is the major bane of Igbo business.

Innoson could do with some strategic partnership... And it's never a crime to have shares.

One of the things we studied at the business school is "the death of the Igbo business model ".... CHANGE OR BE CHANGED, that is the message for Igbo businesses and entrepreneurs.
