Politics / Re: “Supreme Court Order” Versus “Presidential Address”: Which One Supersedes? by intruder15(m): 10:46am On Feb 17, 2023
DeLaRue:

All the powers of the President derive from and are provided for by the constitution.

That means all the actions of the President must comply with the constitution and the laws passed by the National Assembly.

So, the current issue is a constitutional issue, which only the Supreme Court can decide. It has to decide whether the President acted within the powers conferred on him by the constitution and laws.

The reason a country has a supreme court (and indeed other courts) is to ensure that the Executive ie., the President, Governors, Ministers etc do not misuse their powers against us, the people.

There is a reason Mr Buhari cannot issue an Executive Order for you to be arrested. That's because the constitution does not give him the power to misuse his orders like that.

Without courts like the Supreme Court, most Presidents would become dictators.

The people must guard the supreme court's authority jealously and not allow any President destroy it for their own personal interest.

This current supreme court that made 4fh position become first? Make they de play. Just de play.

First of all, download any of those apps I mentioned earlier. Then register on the app and provide all the info that is needed to get verified, like BVN, vNIN or NIN, evidence of address, etc.

Once you get verified, you can then create a virtual dollar Mastercard or Visa, depending on the one available on the app.

In terms of exchange rate, Klasha seem to have the best exchange rate for now, with N751.11 to a dollar. Payday is N753 to a dollar today.

Is there a limit to what you can purchase? Can you buy something worth 1,000 dollars?

Politics / Re: Electoral Act Versus Supreme Court: Which One Should INEC Obey? by intruder15(m): 7:31pm On Feb 08, 2023
BluntCrazeMan:
The Supreme Court on Monday (6th February, 2023) dismissed Sheriff Bashir Machina, and declared Ahmed Lawan as the Winner of the Yobe North Senatorial Candidate.

The Majority Judgement of the Supreme Court ruled that: “Bashir Machina violated THE COURT RULES, by commencing his court action with a ‘WRIT OF SUMMONS’ instead of an ‘ORIGINATING SUMMONS’, and therefore, his case shouldn't have been entertained by any of the lower courts in the first place.
(These are all technical terms that has to do with the court processes.. Lawyers are supposed to be very conversant with these terms..)

But then..
According to the Electoral Act 2022 (Section:33); it states thus:

Bashir Machina won the APC’s Nomination on the 28th of May 2022 (by the primaries that was conducted by the APC, and monitored by the INEC), and it was never disputed by the APC in any Court of Law.
Thus,, the Victory of Machina was (and is still) very valid, and was never disputed nor discarded, even though the APC never submitted Bashir Machina’s name to the INEC as the person who won the Nomination Ticket.

The APC just decided to come up with a replacement for Machina, that is, after the newly conducted Primaries which they did on the 9th of June.
But then, they didn't fulfill all the necessary requirements of the Electoral Act for the process of replacement of an already-nominated candidate.
The APC might be assuming in this case that they had not submitted Machina’s name as the Nominated Candidate yet, so, there is no need for any “Replacement” or “Substitution”, rather, for them to submit the name of their candidate which was elected in a supposedly “Validly Conducted Primaries”.

Now, let us assume that the Senatorial Primaries of 28th May 2022 was null-and-void, and shouldn't be taken as the authentic primaries.
(Like I pointed out earlier, APC cannot assume this particular situation, because the primaries actually took place, and they -- the APC -- recognized that they conducted it, and they didn't dispute it.)

So, Let Us look at the Senatorial Primaries which took place on the 9th of June 2023.
The APC didn't adhere strictly to the Electoral Act 2022 (Section:82; Sub-sections-1 & 5) which states thus:

a. The APC never gave proper notification to the INEC for the Primaries which they conducted on the 9th of June 2022. (But they notified INEC about the Primaries which they conducted on the 28th of May, 2022).

b. The INEC didn't monitor the primaries which took place on the 9th of June 2022, (but they duly monitored the primaries which took place on the 28th May, 2022)

From all indications, Dr. Ahmed Lawan is NOT QUALIFIED.

So, what then is supposed to be the outcome of the recent Supreme Court Judgement?

Since the APC did not accept Bashir Machina Candidacy, and thus got his case trashed by the Supreme Court Judgement based on technicalities, and then also, being that Dr. Ahmed Lawan is not qualified to be the APC Senatorial Candidate based on the requirements of the Electoral Act;
then, THE STATUS-QUO REMAINS.
That means, APC has no Senatorial Candidate for Yobe-North Senatorial District Election come February 2023.

What you need to understand is that a victory in court doesn't mean that you are the right candidate or innocent. Court is about arguing the facts using existing laws and not necessarily about who is right or wrong.

For instance, Orji Uzor Kalu won his case at the supreme court not because he was innocent. But won because the judge that presided over his final case at court of appeal did not have the rights to carry out that judgment due to his promotion to the Supreme court.

APC don't know that they just shot themselves in the leg. The opposition will pick this case later on and argue that based on inec law, Lawal is not eligible to contest which they will win likely win.

Make we de watch the movie de go.

Nigerians will always tag Buhari as evil and the personalization of everything that's wrong with this country. But the vast majority of Nigerians are desperately evil.. For them, money comes 1st, and any other thing or person can go to hell sad

So of all the things Linda & Co had to try to cash out from, it is that horrible incident that the family of those guys are trying as much as possible to forget?..After cashing out from immortalizing the terror these parents are trying to hard to bury, so Linda can comfortably go to sleep while these people are forever reminded by her movie of a a terror best forgotten?

How can Linda, being a mother herself, albeit an unfortunate and useless one, be so callous?

Let's be realistic and stop spitting trash. When tragedy occur, do movie producers seek consent before making a film on it?

If yes, then their point is valid. If no, then they have no point. Fury was about the world war. Same as half of a yellow sun and every other conflict/war film released. I don't think there is a need to seek permission before releasing the film. I may be wrong though.

Politics / Re: Is Government A Savings Account? Oshiomhole Challenges Peter Obi by intruder15(m): 12:37pm On Jan 24, 2023
SLAP44:
Yes, government is a savings account.

When you have paid all salaries, built all local roads, ensured there is security, built industries, paid pensioners, paid contractors and built other infrastructure, you have to save the rest for the future of the state.

The problem we have in Nigeria is that civil servants like Oshomhole, Buharri, Atiku, Tinubu and Kwankwaso has been in power and they have never studied the course called profitability in any organisation, they regard government as a money dispensing machine and so they keep spending till we go bankrupt, then they start borrowing since they don't know anything about businesses.

Peter Obi is a trader, a businessman and an investor, he can use this skill to save and invest excess resources for Nigeria so that we can use this excess to build more infrastructure and also to provide stability for the distant future. This savings will provide the industry that will employ our teeming youths and curb insecurity.

Nigeria needs Peter Obi more than Peter Obi needs Nigeria. Vote for Peter Oluwadare Obi ❤

Don't mind them. As if Nigeria's exchange rate is not a mess because they don't have savings in their foreign reserve. When graduates talk like 'retards, it's quite shocking.
Family / Re: After Being Single For Soo Long, Im Now Scared Of Getting Married. Please Help!! by intruder15(m): 1:01am On Jan 24, 2023
EriMma1:
This may sound weird but it's my situation now.

I have been a single and independent lady for a very long time. Though I really looked forward to settling down in my 20s and thirties but because I was the over careful type, I couldn't as I kept being picky due to men's character and behavior.

Fast-forward to my lat 30s, I began to lose interest and started getting more comfortable as a single. The upheavals in today's marriage also got to me. As in the way marriages are packing up, the cheating aspect, abuse and domestic violence in marriages all further affected me and changed my whole perception of the union called marriage. So I unconsciously resolved to remain single as long as I'm happy, comfortable and financially independent.

Some of the reasons I also made up my mind are.
As a single, Im very much at peace, with no one dictating what and when I should do things or get out of bed. I love my bed.
No one is body shaming me when I add on some pounds due to excessive eating and no one is questioning my eating habits as its sometimes the case with some married women. Also running errands when you don't feel up to it just because hubby wants you to do it. Some men can send their wife on errand like crazy and me I hate running errands. angry

No one is disturbing me when I need time alone which could last for hours. I love my space and privacy. So the thought of having to give up all that scares the hell out of me.

Now, back to the matter.

Recently, some close spiritual leaders in my denomination have been trying to match make me with a single pastor and that one too is shining teeth that he has seen a jimjim sister. When they now openly mentioned it yesterday with the said man around and he too was nodding and agreeing to the proposal, it dawned on me that these people are not joking. When I got home, i sank into my comfy space and began to fret. I mean... The thought of giving up all that freedom is just so scary. I suddenly discovered that marriage no longer excites me and my inner self was fighting it.
Also, the thought of carrying pregnancy for nine months with all the stress of looking after babies, tending toddlers ( poo poo) and that motherhood life made me sick instantly. The thought of joggling my job with family life gave me the chills. I see how my married mates struggle with this. Huh. Men...

I don't know. I don't feel cool about this cos it makes me feel like I'm about to be put in a cage and everything about me is going to change.

Now, before you talk about me not loving the man, I think I fancy him and can love him cos he looks so much like my ex of years ago. So that is out of the question. He is a happening lovable man but....... I no longer feel excited about marriage. at least, from what played out yesterday.

Do I need any form of therapy cos my family won't hear of it but this is my situation now ooo... Hmmm

I don't think you need a therapy. Ask yourself a question. If your brother was single because of these reasons you stated and he refused to get married, will you support him? If yes, then turn the proposal down. If no, then deep down in your heart you know what you want.

Your excuses are speculative and may not be the case. There are men that are single based on your point of view but the society doesn't want to accept their choice.

Be careful of the pastor sha. Will prefer you elope with a neutral person. Reason being that religious leaders can raise an expectation that may not be the reality which will further hurt your already messed up mind.

Don't lump every Nigerian female into the gf's category. I'll never be this wicked towards anyone woman like the OP's sister who's in an abusive situation and needs a safe place to stay for the time being. It's not as if she will be there forever. OP said she has a job and can afford to get her own place but perhaps she has not yet found. Is he supposed to kick her out for the useless gf (that's not even supposed to be there sef)? Of course not!

Recall that the sister has been going back to the abusive man/babydaddy. Who knows if the pressure from the gf in the house is one of the reasons she has been doing that? If she has peace of mind in her brother's house, she would take the time to sort herself out there, but the gf's treatment of her in the house might not be helping matters.

I'd be damned if I were a man and the OP and one yeye person thinks they've the audacity to make me turn my back on my own blood sibling. They won't dare.

We are saying the same thing. The OP handled it how he should have handled it. An average lady will act how the OP girlfriend acted. Ladies don't like such infringement on their so called privacy in someone else home.

It's just what it is.
Romance / Re: Am I Being Manipulated? Is Her Anger Justified? by intruder15(m): 6:04pm On Jan 21, 2023
Slime7:
Hi guys,
I need your advice on this. It is causing issues in my 2 years relationship.
I came to Lagos in 2018 after my NYSC. Prior to that, I had plans for my older sister to come stay with me, considering how difficult things were.
Note that my married eldest brother was in Lagos before then. I understand that maybe he needs his privacy, but he didn't help in any way (he didn't have to).

When I got the apartment, I met my girlfriend while she was serving in Lagos. My older sister has yet to move in with me, but I have mentioned to her not once but twice that she will soon come and live with me.

I will also like to mention that my elder sister was living with her boyfriend before I came to Lagos. This doesn't seem right to me or to her.

She moved in, and we were living together peacefully. Along the way, she broke up with her boyfriend. About 6 months later, she got into another relationship. The man seems interested in marrying her. And they were making plans for settling down. Unfortunately, she got pregnant out of wedlock for the man. She had to move in with the man.

Now this is where the issues begin. After a few months (after her childbirth), they always have issues. They go on and off. Two times they had issues; she carried her bag and came to my place. Two times it happened, and she stayed with me for not more than two months put together. This didn't go well with my girlfriend. She complained that my sister is always in the picture, and she doesn't like that.

The third time, the man abused my sister, and he beat her up. I went to the man's house with my "married eldest brother." We fought with the man and threatened to arrest him. He pleaded, plus the neighbors and the landlord too. That night, we took my sister away from him. My sister chose to stay at my place until she gets an apartment for herself and her kid.

This really annoyed my girlfriend. She always says things like, "My family does not respect me." That's why my sister can move in to my house knowing that I am in a relationship.
"Why does she like to stay with me and not my brother?" "Why do I have to always be the one to bear the burden?" Note that my sister works, and she can take care of herself and her kid. She just needed a place to stay until she got her own apartment.

She feared that my sister could just move in with her bags when we get married, which I have assured her is not possible.
She claims she likes her space and all. She claims she doesn't like the "on and off" as sometimes she may want to spend a "lone" time with me. Spend weekends... and this won't be possible when my sister is around.
She claims that she has never seen a scenario where an older sister with a kid is leaving with younger brother.
She always give instances where she has never seen guys in relationships allow their older sister to come stay with them.
She claimed that sometimes I should "man up" and say NO to her.

Is she overreacting? What did I do wrong in all of this? Am I being manipulated? Is her anger justified?

N.B My sister has gotten a place for herself and has moved out.

She acted how a typical Nigerian female will act. Checking how it affects them and not looking at the bigger picture.
How you handled the issue was okay. She is a girlfriend. Meaning she never get say yet when it comes to family affairs.

She is only human. So don't expect her to see it how you saw it. It doesn't mean that she is a bad person. Just observe how she acts towards others and draw your conclusion from there.

For those who condemn what the Government of Lagos is trying to do I say shame on you,I have spent so many hours in traffic in Lagos in the last 5 days especially coming form the mainland to the island.
The hold up is on another level especially those who queue on the expressway trying to buy fuel and block other road users.
Why would anyone criticize the government for asking these petrol stations to stop selling by 4pm.
If these filling stations can't get their customers to be orderly when waiting to buy fuel, then they should shut down by 4pm,it's crazy when you have to wait for hours just to pass by a filling station.
Gov Sanwo-olu should form a task force to close down any erring station that allows it customers to block the entire road and force other road users to stay in traffic for hours unending.
God bless Nigeria.

If I may ask, what is the reason why there is scarcity in the first place? If there is no scarcity, will there be queue?

The North remembers.

"The key plotters are: Chukuwama Nzeogwu, Timothy Onwuatuegwu, Emmanuel Efeajuna, Chris Anuforo, Humphrey Chukwuma, Don Okafor are all from ONE region/ONE ethnic group. But they masked them as 'mutinous soldiers..disgruntle officers..

Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi never prosecuted any of the erring officers. He was reluctant to do so. Instead, regional governments were dissolved and unitary government with central power and authority was formed with the help of Ben Nwabueze. The aim was to consolidate his grip on power."

Why remove other names that participated which are not Igbos? Guess you intend to mislead the readers.

If she truly compromised her account then why's the bank trying to pay her 800k?
This is to me is a total submission to commiting such crime. Bank should have maintained their stance and prove her wrong in order to save their own image from their customers. They should release the details of fraudsters after obtaining the court order

Didn't you read the part where the bank stated that the amount salvaged from one of the fraudulent beneficiary is 800k? Is the bank meant to debit herself and refund the customer for other funds spent by the fraudster when the liability lies with the customer? Capital NO.
If the amount salvaged from the fraudster is higher than 800k, the bank will definitely give it to her.
