Not too certain if there is a written law. But I think if your land in question is +100 meters away from the pipeline location then it's okay.
Thanks for the insight.

It is not up to 100m. Other than risks of explosion and inferno, what else could be a problem? Other folks are putting up structures.
Just wondering...I wouldn't consider this place for anything residential though

Nigerians cure depression with alcohol and communal living.

Have you been to a bar recently? Ban alcohol in Nigeria and watch the suicide rate rise astronomically.

Guess what? Counseling, medications, alcohol and communal living all cure depression in equal measures.

If God created heaven and earth and everything in it, why did he lead Israelites to war to kill other people? Everything in Old Testament is about God showing special grace to Israelites against other nations. The language of the bible is very straight-forward even though some charlatans pretend that there are hidden messages only them can decipher.

God created Adam and Eve. They gave birth to Cain and Abel. So where did the wives of Cain and Abel come from? Christians omit this part of the bible for obvious reasons.

From the beginning of time, the Bible talked about false prophets. Because they are ignorant, gullible and naive, christians in Nigeria act like they never read those parts of the Bible not even when some acclaimed men of God are caught pursuing mundane materials, raping children, fornicating, engaging in adultery and idolatory, and other vices. The biggest threat to christianity is the stupidity of Nigerian christians popularly known as the sheepies. Most of them are not in it for grace or salvation. They are in it for the pursuit of wealth and break from the bondage of poverty as deceived by fraudulent pastorpreneurs.

In response to this thread https://www.nairaland.com/4188975/open-letter-all-first-class

Dear Second Class and Third Class students,

It's sad that we had to graduate with that, I wish we can go on Facebook And Twitter and beg for jobs as the first class are doing now. But no, we have to struggle and apply for thousands of job with no hope of getting interview.
The challenge is, business right now in Nigeria is so difficult, all the major things that we can produce locally are being imported. Our economy is dwindling, importation business is expensive.

What can we do?
If the first class are begging for jobs, what about us?
Lalasticlal.a, how do we get the jobs?
Go to Maitama, Asokoro, VI and Banana Island.

Take solace in knowing that everyone that lives there does not have first class. First class certificate is a piece of paper. What you do with or without it is entirely up to you. A company or government does not discriminate on who they owe salaries. There are graduates that earn up to N200k/month and there are skilled artisans that earn more than that. Go figure!

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: How I Failed An Interview With One Of The Leading Brewery In Nigeria by InvertedHammer: 8:58am On Nov 24, 2017
pp802:
I have a job though, but people always look for better opportunies and higher pay.

This brewery company is PLC. Its listed on the NSE. Its multinational.

I had submitted my CV a long time ago. Can't even remember when I submitted the CV.
So I got an sms and a mail for a test.

Before now, I use to have different CV's for different job vacancies. The CV's are actually based on the job title.
So I had forgotten the CV I sent, even when I saw the test invite and the job title.

I checked all my sent mails, but I couldn't find the mail I sent.

So I went to the test hall. Very tough questions I must say......especially the maths.
After the test, we shared numbers. The test finished around 12 noon. I went back to work.

Around 5pm the same day, I got an sms again for an interview, the next day......obviously I passed the test. So I called one of the guys we shared numbers and he told me he was yet to get the sms.
Early morning the next day, he called me and informed me that he eventually got the sms.

On the day of the interview, we were very few. A lot of the guys we shared numbers did not pass the test.
During the interview, I noticed that some lasted for a very long time and about 1 or 2 were short. Even the guy I called, his own session also lasted for long.

Then I was called in. They already have the CV's. They just project on the wall and ask questions. They were 3 of them.

They asked me to introduce my self. When I started the introduction, they were kinda surprised and in the middle of my introduction, they stopped me and showed me the CV I submitted on the wall.
It was one of my driving experience CV, with just an OND, and driving experiences only. No professional job experience. No Bsc, No masters.

I apologized and I told them that I have a more updated CV, where I have all the above mentioned. They asked me for the soft copy. low and behold, I was not with my updated CV. I told them I have it on my phone and I could go out and get it in a minute. They said there was no need and I should just continue.

I saw the countenance on their faces. It was as if they lost interest in the session. They didn't even ask me much question. Infact my session was actually the shortest. I knew that I had messed up. I failed woefully. I even lost interest myself, when I saw their reactions. One of the interviewer had to stand up during the session.

Today, the guy I called the day I got the sms, called me this evening when I was in the office, that he was called this afternoon and they are starting training on monday next week.

I felt so sad and downcasted. I was just not happy with myself, cos I was actually the cause.
How on earth will I go for an interview without my CV? How on the earth did the mail disappear from my sent mail? How would I go for an interview without being fully prepared?

I messed up big time!

Learn from my mistake guys.

Its part of life though!

Cheers.
Anytime you go for an interview or to a company where you are a prospective candidate, make sure you have copies (yes plural) of all necessary documents. You never know who or what you may run into.

We know already. Before they arrive here to shout GEJ this and that, they should first tell us what they all did about those roads before GEJ, starting from Buhari's first coming to his second coming. We supported Goodluck the same way we supported every other former and present Nigeria president. What do we get in return? Negligence and abandoned projects here and there. Allow us go na, no, we must be one but can't be treated as equal. Nigeria I hail thee
They blame GEJ because he refused to fix his place and instead concentrated on fixing the North that had been the primary beneficiaries of the national cake. PH airport is a mess. East-West federal road is in shamble. Enugu-Onitsha is not worth mentioning anymore. Is it PH-Enugu?

Abacha used PTF to develop the North. Instead of GEJ to capitalize on his tenure to bridge the gap in infrastructural development, he was busy building almajiri schools and giving $2b to Dasuki. A man who has the opportunity to build his falling house but chose to rebuild the house of well off neighbour is a slowpoke. GEJ himself acknowledged this anomaly and these shortcomings but it was a tad too late.

Did you see how the Hausa folks rewarded his magnanimity in 2015 election?

Christianity Etc › Re: Paying Your Tithe Is Biblical by InvertedHammer: 8:36am On Nov 24, 2017
hardasan:
I just refuse to keep quiet while Christians are brainwashed by anybody.

I want to quote Malachi Ch 3 v 7 - 12 while highlighting verse 10

Malachi 3:7-12King James Version (KJV)

7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.

Here the bible plainly said in verse 8: " Yet ye have robbed me, But ye say where in. Have we robbed thee? "
The bible answered : "In tithes and offerings"

Verse 9 says: Ye are cursed for ye have robbed me. It didn't say ye are cursed for not eating your tithe or ye are cursed for paying to a pastor and not into heaven's bank account directly from the earth.

Verse 10 gives a direct instruction: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse. It didn't say eat ye all the tithes in front of the storehouse or give ye all the tithes to the poor and widows.
In the biblical days, payments could be by precious stones or commodities. That's why trade by barter markets existed in the days of my grandparents before currencies became the order of the day. Now, 99.9% of people earn currencies not livestock or commodities, so it's normal that we pay tithe in cash.

Verse 11 is a promise by God to bless anyone who obeys this instruction of tithing

John ch 12 talks about Jesus being anointed for his burial with a very expensive ointment, Judas asked why the costly ointment wasn't sold and given to the poor instead of " wasting it"
Jesus said in verse 8: For the poor always ye have with you ; but me ye have not always

Matthew ch 10 vs 40 - 41, Jesus promised to. Reward those who are kind or who gives as little as a cup of cold water to his servants

Ever wondered why Jesus picked out the widow in Mark ch 12 vs 42 for giving her all since he doesn't care about our offering ?

Or why the Holy Ghost killed Ananias and Sapphira for keeping part of the money gotten from the sales of their own land in Acts ch 5 vs 1 - 11 if God doesn't care about our tithes and offerings.

Take heed that no wolf in sheep's clothing deceives you. God commanded tithing and offerings. If you want to pay yours when you get to heaven, that's your business, but don't go about stumbling people Christ died for cus it will be better for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for you.

(Modification)
Please try to read through the thread, a lot of questions have been answered which are not mentioned in this initial post.
God bless the contributors and the sincere readers
Paying of tithe is biblical.

Question 1: Who should pay tithe? Israelites.
Question 2: Who are the beneficiaries of tithe? Members and Levites.
Question 3: Who were excluded from tithes? Gentiles (of which Adeboyes, Oyakhilomes, Okoties of this world belong to)

If you read the Bible well, you will notice that most of the communications and orders from God were meant for the Israelites. God led them to war and conquered their enemies. Those ones slaughtered, were they not children of God (assuming the God of Israel is the creator of all mankind).

The fact is that Nigerians are following the God of Israelites as taught in the Bible. But we decided to be more Israelis than the Israelites. There was Baal, Budha, etc and we believe as Christians that the God of Israelites is the most powerful just as others believe in their own. The Bible is the christians' version of telling people how awesome their God is. Of course, the muslims, Buddhists, etc have their own books that showcase the awesomeness of their faith.
The fact is no one knows for sure what is what. Everyone is claiming supremacy which is normal to humans just as different races are at war about supremacy. Currently the Caucasians are leading in that pack. It is absurd listening to someone indoctrinated into a certain religion claiming to know it all.

Family › Re: Since I Married My Wife, I Have Been Having Bad Luck by InvertedHammer: 11:15pm On Nov 23, 2017
ghostfacekillar:
I got married about 4 years ago to a lady i courted for about 2 yrs. since then we’ve not had a child, and it has naturally become a source of worry as my parents have not hidden their concern at all.

Now, as a born again christian, I believe in totality that children come from God and he alone gives at his time, but I also know that the bible commands us to ask, seek and knock and that he that asks, receives. But my frustration in this whole thing is the wife I married.

Firstly, for strange reasons, ten months after marrying her, I lost my job of 12yrs, and since then I’ve been struggling to make ends meet. I must thank God for his goodness and mercies all the way. At least there has been no reason to beg anyone.

Secondly, she has strangely refused to support any effort I try to make for progress. She sees things differently with no better alternative to bring on the table and each time I go ahead, she wants it to fail. she’s a graduate who has also refused to do anything for flimsy reasons, not liking a business type, lack of interest with her certificate, not even to teach as an educationist. And for these reasons, we have remained almost always at loggerheads.

Thirdly, in an effort to find solution to our childlessness, she has frustrated every bit of the attempts. She has refused us exhausting medical options insisting that the problem is spiritual. And on the spiritual options, she has been half- heartedly involved. My parents invited us for prayers with a man of God,we got there on my insistence at least to honour them and she ended up embarrassing everyone including my parents as she vehemently refused to stay back for prayers as advised by the Man, and even accusing me of ganging up with them! That was Oct last year. Even if she didn’t believe the man as she claimed, i thought she should have been polite and respectful about it..

Needless to say, my parents have been hurt with her actions since then and wish I can just divorce her. Most frustrating for me is that presently, I’m observing a month long fasting and prayer period.

Even though she claims to be fasting and praying too, she has refused to go with me for prayers in Church for once. Please advice me on what to do as various thoughts keep running through my mind…

I am still very young and i think letting a woman who’s mindset is far below my ambitions will be doing harm to my future. my friend snd this to me. help him
