Turn the table topsy turvy with States with the "Most Outstanding Performance in Debt" and see Lagos at the Tophuh
Statistics are numbers.

Pick the data you want, rearrange and analyze to fit any preconceived notion.

We need debt-to-income ratio, interest on debt, etc. to be able to determine viable states.

Business › Re: "800,000 Firms Have Never Paid Taxes In Nigeria" - Adeosun by InvertedHammer: 4:58pm On Nov 06, 2017
MissEdified:
Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun has revealed that more than 800,000 companies in Nigeria, including government contractors, have never paid any taxes.

In a statement, she also said that only 14 million Nigerians, out of an economically active base of 70 million, paid taxes.

Of the 14 million, more than 95% were salary earners in the formal sector, but only 241 people paid personal income taxes amounting to about $65,500 (£50,000) in 2016, Ms Adeosun said.

There was "systematic tax evasion at all levels", and the government planned to step up efforts to increase tax collection, she added.

This would help reduce government reliance on oil revenue, Ms Adeosun said.

http://www.newshelmng.com/2017/11/in-nigeria-over-800000-firms-have-never.html
A company that provides its electricity, water and security has no obligation to pay tax to any government. Taxes are for the government to provide social services and amenities which the Nigerian government is not willing to do. Taxes are not special funds marked for looting.

Sir, some of these pastors don't even rely on tithe! The few pastors with jets are also writers of several best sellers! and are guest ministers all around the world where they would likely receive honorariums! Its funny why we emphasize on pastors riding jets while only like 0.00000001 percent of Nigerian pastors actually have jets.
/
Religious organizations are tax-exempt because it is supposed to be a charitable organization like Red Cross, Humane Society, etc. And just as these organizations have been overtaken by human greed, churches are under the shackles of deceitful preaching of fraudulent pastors.
At a point, the US Senate had to step in and some prosperity pastors were run out of town.

If a pastor is running a side business and co-mingling funds with the church to evade tax, then the pastor is a fraudster. Take a look at what MFM is going through in USA now per tax evasion. If the pastor says that the fund for the private jets come from his side business, can we see his tax certificate because such peripheral enterprise is not tax-exempt by law? They know what they are doing. Their motives are not pure. Some people find it difficult to face the truth. No one is forcing anyone to stop tithing. BUt if you must tithe, one needs to understand
that it is not an obligation. Tithing has been ingrained in Christians just as "72 virgins" dogma had been tattooed into the brains of poor muslims.
Trying to change such indoctrination will take centuries so I am not the least surprised that many are falling for the shenanigan.
The derision christians use to look at muslims per the 72 virgins is the same muslims should use to look at christians for believing
that handing out money to wealthy pastors will buy them a place in heaven. While the christians are reserving their
enjoyment in heaven, the pastors are living their own heaven on earth. Who is the idiota?

0.0000001% of Nigerian pastors have jets. The remaining 99.99999% are aspiring to have private jets. And the milking gets more stealth.

dayowunmi:
The claim that payment of Tithes enrich pastors is unnecessary. Tithe was meant for pastors welfare in the first place. Perhaps Freeze forgets that some of these churches have thousands of pastors working on full time and some even have missionaries, tithes is meant to be used for paying them salaries! He makes stupid comments as if the G.O's are the only pastors of their respective churches. Don't be surprised if some of these G.O's don't even touch tithe money! Look at the words of Paul "In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel" 1 Corinthians 9:14 Tithe, offerings and First fruits are all scriptural and are means through which the church is meant to generate income to take care of salaries, building projects and general church maintenance and other programs. I seriously don't get what the ruse is all about
/
I don't think payment of their salaries is a concern if the G.O has enough in the coffers to buy a private jet which is equivalent to the lifetime salaries of all the pastors.

Pastors are entitled to good houses and cars. But mansions and Rolls Royce? Not one, not two but sometimes 10 exotic cars and still find ways to convince followers that they need more money. The saddest part is that most of the workers in these churches are volunteers.

The best part is that anyone can wake up any day and claim that s(h)e is called. There is no test and no proof. Since when are human beings totally honest? The good thing is in good times you come for thanksgiving and in bad times you are coerced to pay more tithe. In all, it is a win-win for all the scammers. Ever wonder why all of a sudden there is a proliferation of churches in Nigeria. Just about anyone now is called. To be a good modern day christian in Nigeria, you must leave your brain at home. Those pastors that got caught in scam, molestation, fraud and embezzlement; who called them? Every pastor is credible as long as his or her secret has not been revealed.

This is 2017. Once obscure countries like China and Singapore are now world super powers through inventions and technology.

It is not just that black people are useless, they are shameless. They attend schools to study the same books everyone else studies, yet they cannot conceptualize. The best the Minister of Technology could brag about is the ability of Nigeria to produce pencils in 2018.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Pastors Use Private Jets And A Question For OAP Freeze - By Ife Olaleye by InvertedHammer: 3:38pm On Nov 03, 2017
Statsocial:
Church(or pastors) own private car-it is not mundane
Church owns Private Bus - it is not mundane
Church owns Private Jet-it is mundane. How?

Lol bros na money dem take buy all of them o whether na Bus or Car or Jet they all serve same functions I.e to move people from one point to another.

Now don't forget the Question. What is the significant difference between a Private Jet and a Private Car? that makes acquisition of a Private Jet 'sinful' while the acquisition of a Private Car is acceptable.
The differences in this scenario are:

1. One works hard, saves money and buys a private car VS. Someone who makes false promises of heaven (which existence he cannot prove), extorts money from followers and use the money to buy private jet. That is, individual money vs. public money.

2. Private jet is a luxury and not a necessity in preaching the gospel. The only reason they use it the way they do is just to justify the purchase. Random vacation to sleep in five-star hotels at the expense of gullible followers is not Christianity. All the globe-trotting just to
preach for 1 hour?

3. The cost of maintaining the private jet is a colossal waste considering the fact that some donors are people who can barely afford three square meal. There is something inherently wrong when father, mother and children are the only anointed leaders of each sect. It breeds fraud by collusion.

4. Why has Christianity all of a sudden made money its foundation? No more talk of salvation, faith, love. Rather it is all about prosperity through miracles. Jesus performed miracles to heal not to make people rich. In all his encounters, Jesus seemed to detest rich folks and their insatiable appetite for material wealth for he said in Mark 10:25, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." How vivid can that message be?

NOTE: Pastors can make all the money they want. But it is fraud to do that under the guise of reserving a space in heaven for gullible followers who have been rendered helpless by the bad economic policies of the government.

Strongly disagree considering that cardiac arrest is only one of the many of the causes of death, shockable rythms are only two in number, use of a defibrillator requires intensive training and cost presents a barrier to acquisition.
Do you have any references ?

So if cardiac arrest is only one of the many causes of death, it should be neglected? SMH.

Do you prefer textbook references or hands on experience?

It costs less than $1500. Tinubu's family can afford thousands of them.
What do you mean by intensive training? Know the correct placement of pads and the machine does the analysis to determine shockable rhythms. People who care have it at home. In a place like Nigeria where emergency medical response is nonexistent and hospitals are known to reject emergency cases, shouldn't it be one of the considerations of a concerned family?

No need of pointless argument.

When your boss summons/orders you to come to his/her office, do you give him/her some conditions?
That will be insubordination--ground for termination of employment.
But in court, it is called contempt of court which is ground for incarceration.

They could argue jurisdiction. But the case is in a Federal Court. For instance, a Court in Lagos has no jurisdiction outside Lagos State to issue
subpoena to a non-resident. Just stay clear of legal problems. It is always stressful and time-consuming.
This case is going to be a "cat and mouse" race especially if there is no precedence and Nigerian big men are known to defy court orders. Ask Buhari.

In a subpoena you must appear. It is up to you and your lawyer to determine how to be dodgy in answering the questions without lying. Technically, GEJ cannot win in this drama. Whoever advised Metuh is a legal genius. The case has become a case of a fly on the scrotum.

201320142015ob:
I don't know why some don't easily understand things but let me make you understand now.

GEJ was once ordered to appear before the court on the request of Metuh without official notice, he said he won't appear. Then, the same court served him an official notice requesting him to appear on a particular date and it will be a disrespectful act of him not appearing before the court.

So, he is like, I will come on the condition that I will be paid 1 billion naira which covers his transport and some other logistics. It is not necessarily about the money but he knows that Metuh can't afford that much, so he made the demand

What that means is that if he fails to appear before the court on the said date, he will simply tell the judge that the he accepted to come but his conditions were not met.

So the whole thing still boils down to the fact that GEJ wishes not to appear before the court simple.
A subpoena is a court order not a petition. There are no conditions attached to it. Failure to appear will be considered contempt of court. A judge may issue bench warrant leading to arrest and jail time.

The sad thing is that Nigeria may not have a law similar to US Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination. But Nigeria being what it is, GEJ may walk away unscathed if he chooses not to appear. But if they really want to rope him in, the judge will hold him in contempt and the real drama follows.

In a sane environment, it will be considered a smart move by Metuh. But he need not worry. Prosecutors in Nigeria are as dumb as a door knob--ordinary paper tigers.

After equipment and logistics, we realized we need 27-30kva gen. to power our machines. That will add additional N2m (not including the gas) to our overhead. And some smart Alec had the effrontery to ask why Innoson is not fully mechanized with robotics like his counterparts in developed nations. I can guarantee you that the dude does not have even a hair clipper to his name. The cost of doing business in Nigeria is so out of whack. Then I remember, it is a nigger area. Not surprising at all.
Even when there is light, the voltage is not regulated. Without a good stabilizer, most gadgets will go kaput. One may be better off without PHCN's unregulated voltage. Of course, the light bills will be pulled out of their rear ends whether there is service delivery or not. And we call ourselves human beings existing in this enjoyable world?

I don't understand why people preach against tithe.
Tithing is here to stay.
If people did not listen to the wailing against MMM (some stubborn flies even continued after the crash), what makes you think you can convince them otherwise about tithe. Tithes are for levites only. No Nigerian is a levite. So let them continue throwing their source of sustenance away.

If those who tithe and those who do not tithe are equally blessed and equally face challenges, it means that there are other variables at work. The explanation lies in using the brain for what it is meant for without chasing shadows and fantasy.

Those who have the means should continue supporting the extravaganza of pastors aka scammers-in-disguise. Fools and their money are easily separated.

They steal the country blind forgetting that a direct flight from Nigeria to UK is at least 5hrs. In time of emergency, billions in the bank cannot save them. Perhaps they think they are doing favour to others by equipping and stocking the clinic.
It is about the psyche of Nigerians. Some folks are talking about the age in governance. It is not by age; it is a culture of nonchalance and indifference. How old is Kogi State governor? How is he doing? How old was Bankole? How did he do. We celebrate evil. That's all.
