Health › Re: Help! I Will Be Having Hemorrhoids (pile) Surgery In Few Days by InvertedHammer: 10:18pm On Apr 03, 2017 |
Incognito101: My name is Tope. I am 26 and have had problems with hemorrhoids for years. It was getting to where I was spending several hours indoor due to the pains and discomfort. I don't socialize, don't go out, always behind closed doors.
I got referred to a surgeon recently and he said I had bad case and set me up for surgery. They decided to do a colenistimy (colon probe. where I guess they pump you full of air and put a tube all the way up) and I was told afterwards that I had some of the largest they had seen.
I will be going back for the main surgery in few days and I am scared to death the risk and complications that might follows.
Any advice, suggestions, what to do and what not to do from you all will be well appreciated. Thanks. You mean colonoscopy? Ask the doctor if it will be surgical stapling (cuts off blood supply to it and tissue shrinks and reaborbed) or hemorrhoidectomy (cutting off)? It should be a minimal invasive procedure. You will be alright. \ |

With MSc in Architecture you shouldn't be advertising yourself or advocating for jobs here on Nairaland. Go for real jobs and leave us 'can't pay cockroaches' to keep looking for awoof consultancy here.
Your likes drew the Taj Mahal, Empire State Building, and some of the magnificent state of the art buildings dotted the world over.
MSc Architects 'your type on high horses' I must add, if an insurmountable credentials as you're claiming here surely has no business trolling here for jobs.
Just go through your post to appreciate how subtle condescending you've been yet claims to be a high pedestal professional.
You want kobo kobo builders to employ the services of an Architect, QS, Civil Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Project Manager, Builder, so that these professionals can now go ahead to employ the serservices of tradesmen and artisans for the same single 5 or 4 or 3 Bedroom project or else we as kobo kobo builders (Hajji M, abeg) shouldnt complain of shoddy job or fraud.
We can go and employ all these people for simple family homes so that when we graduate to start our industrial complexes and spiral plaza we will by then employ God, Gods and Angels to handle them.
Give us a break!
Spyder888 is neither an Architect nor an Engineer yet he produces, and reproduces elegant buildings after buildings and still dishes out valuable and beneficial suggestions, advise and general information on building to the overwhelming admiration of most of us. Please!!! / In my opinion, experience trumps certificate unless you are not talking about education in Nigeria. Theory is different from practical. Do you want to be mesmerized with technical mumbo jumbo? Then get the so-called professionals who charge hefty fees for their certifications but rely on technical expertise of artisans to get the job done. Yes! You know them. They show up at a site in a nice car, throw a few theories around and plant a "supervisor" (assuming they do, some don't) to monitor the artisans. If the so-called professionals would actually do their jobs, there won't be any qualms. Their huge misplaced phantom ego is the priority. The more successful they seem, the less visible they become. Dude if I am paying you, screw your ego. If you are going to work for me, I will sit you down and ask tough questions. Anyone with a knack for researches can easily obtain most of the information online. It can be used as a reference point to call their BS. Some folks are smooth talkers with gift for garb. It doesn't help to know that the professionals might have "sorted" themselves through school. Experience! Experience!! Experience!!! \ |

Releases in Nigeria have the same tone and style because the phrases are copied, recopied or plagiarized. One can easily deduce that the writers do not have serious consideration for their target audience.
Eg. Mrs A was implicated in the fraud in CBN.
Nigerian journalists will write: Mrs A was fingered in the fraud in CBN.
In every case or allegation in Nigeria, a suspect is "fingered". If in doubt, check the newspapers. Pointing a finger is used to identify something or someone. But Nigerians use the term literarily without considering the sexual undertone.
So much for English language. The only criterion to measure literacy/education in Nigeria is the ability to read and write impeccably in "English". Not spanish, french and of course, not chinese. |

You can see from the time I am making this post that I have not been able to sleep since he sent this quote. I don't really have time to go to the market to check these prices, I will allow him buy if the prices are not way off. The site is in Enugu.

/ Oyibo knows how to play Africans like ludo.
Even in conflicts, they sell weapons to both sides and watch brothers decimate themselves while they smile to the bank.
The saddest part is that they can repeat this game cycle as many times as they like. Only in rare cases do they show face. USA, UK, Soviet Union, Algeria, Egypt, Syria and Bulgaria clandestinely beat the Biafrans black and blue to secure oil fields in Nigeria but openly presented Nigerian troops as winner. Everyone knew that it was the hands of Essau but the voice of Jacob. Left at their own expertise, Nigerian troops cannot even defeat Boko Haram. They again looked up to their masters who gave them the middle finger because there is no oil in the North and the masters now have oil in their backyards.
I give it to oyibo people. African leaders brains are like specimens in their labs. I hope they swapped those cars for bugs.

AutoReportNG2: It's no news that the 3 most powerful people according to the Nigerian constitution all use Mercedes-Benz as their official car, the president, vice president and the Senate president all use Mercedes Benz, a background check into some of the state governors garages too, we can reliably write at least 70-80% of these governors have a Mercedes Benz car in their fleet. There have been an outcry from Nigerians and the social media as to why politicians prefer a German brand as to a Nigerian brand in as much as we have a local firm here which makes vehicles as well. We did an investigation in these outcries, and we found the following reasons why the Federal Government, National Assembly, and State Govs. will still continue patronizing Mercedes-Benz brand.

1. They are aggressive marketers It's no news that the brand has been around for quite some time, a quick glance at their Wikipedia page shows that it was founded in 1926, so technically, we are looking at a 91-year-old brand, despite that, they seem not to take to chance, you will always see any of their representatives in government house, Aso Rock or they have a clique with some of the staffs there. Likewise, on the social media, MB is among the most active auto brand on Twitter, IG, and the rest, when you make an inquiry, be rest assured that with 48-hours your inquiry will be treated, they are always advertising and showcasing their new range of products and services.
2. Safety Certified Life is precious, and life can't be on autopilot once its gone. The first thing on the mind of any politician is how am I? Mercedes-Benz seems to be a brand for such folks, virtually all their vehicles have safety certifications, for example, the armored 550 4Matic car has a ballistic certification and many others.
3. Integrity and a brand to protect Have you ever asked, what will make a president of a nation to patronize a car outside his country? That has to do with loyalty, selflessness, and integrity. Having been in the game for 91-years, they have learned the modulus Operandi in dealing with government officials and therefore vouch for their brand if anything goes wrong.
4. Luxury and comfort Imagine been in a car that defines luxury at its finest. We reviewed a car recently, it was configured that when it goes into a pit or potholes, the passenger does no feel it as it automatically adjusts itself, that's what MB cars are known for, with the addition of Maybach into the league, life just get better. What every man wants is to have a value for his money.
5. Their service centers and parts are available Nothing makes a car more useless when you can't find the service area or its part anywhere. At least there are 2 service centers of MB in every state of the federation which makes it accessible and easy to get a snap.

6. Mercedes-Benz Innovation: Timelessly Tasteful and Efficient What begins as a breakthrough becomes the standard for every car on the road. Enjoyment is paramount along the ever more exciting road map to the future and a never-ending roster of new achievements.
7. They are known to be strong and rugged for Nigeria roads It has been proven that bad roads make even the most expensive car in the world to wear out within the shortest period of time. Have you heard of the world German-Machine? MB are proven to be strong and withstand all manner of bad roads no wonder our politicians use it as their official cars.
Any car that will displace Mercedes-Benz must be ready to do extra more.
Source: http://www.autoreportng.com/2017/03/why-buhari-govs-nass-members-patronize.html / All the things you mentioned are marketing gimmicks. The same can be said about BMW too. There is no value in a car that goes from $100+k to $20+k in about five years. The use of MB products exemplifies the profligate nature of public office holders in Nigeria. MB used to be all that but it has been relegated to the luxury vehicle of the middle class and that's why there are too many of them on the road. // |

set2build: Have you heard of Building information modelling (BIM)? fairly new Technology that has come to change the way buildings are designed and constructed.
We don't count the cost before embarking in this part of the world, we cost before we count. Problems in Nigeria are fundamental and deeply rooted. and would take a while to address, by gradual changes in our patterns and lifestyle. BIM is one of those changes. It will bring an end to most issues faced on our various projects. Find out more on the blog section of www.set2build.com. \\ It is obvious that it is not about cost. They are just intimidated by the prospect of delving into new areas that evidently offer cheaper alternatives. One good job will yield referrals that will offset cost of tools in due time. They are hiding under costs to mask their mental laziness. None of them has any iota of idea of what the cost is. They are simply intimidated by new things. Like they say,"a bad workman quarrels with his tools". These ones haven't even tried the tools yet and they are already quarreling wih it. oyb: This is also why some people cannot grow. As Nigerians, we do not fully appreciate the time value of money.if any of these guys had to take a bank loan, they would learn very quickly about the value of tools in saving time.
Nigerians may be part of the problem though. We are 'hard work' people. As such a lot of us see a job done quickly and efficiently and assume it must be easy and therefore cheap.
You see it in all the silly threads and posts celebrating technicians and disdaining office work. I can sit down at my desk for 48hours trying to figure out the most effective way to execute and coordinate project. The client may see this as unessecary 'book work' as Nigerians are wont to
In this climate, people who refuse to adopt technology will suffer. The other day we engaged one of our 'hand work' vendors on a fabrication job.he gave a cost of 110k. We then engaged a 'machine' vendor who did same for 45k. Who gets the contract to do the bulk fabrication? You got it! How can a valid argument be: The clients are not willing to pay so we will continue to churn out mediocre products? Are these people even listening to themselves? One factor is that everyone is about the money. Some of the workers do not have the patience to learn their trade the proper way. We have seen their handiwork. It is sad that the defenders of mediocrity are denying the existence of such problem. For them, it is all about cost as if artisans themselves are not out to gouge potential clients. What happens when a client pays the standard rate and yet couldn't get what he bargained for? That's how people were making excuses for auto mechanics until their clients wisened up. Who buys millions of naira worth of cars to leave them at the mercy of the guess work of a mechanic? Mechanics who are serious in their trade were forced to upgrade and innovate. Machines/tools make things cheaper like you noted. |

/ Someone mentioned here sometime ago how he gets disappointed at the finishing in the so-termed N50-60m mansions in Nigeria.
Something as easy as laying tiles becomes a chore. Maintaining a straight line becomes onerous tasks. Guess what? It will cost the same in material and labour to the job per square meter. The fact is that clients are not getting what they pay for. The standard labour rate for a mason is N60/block. If you pay them and they couldn't maintain a straight line, how does price factor into it?
People complained here a few weeks ago about the roofing guy that did some bad jobs for them. Was that because of the cost or because the dude has no shame at mediocrity? Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. Of course, there are some people that will continue to patronize quacks. Last time I checked, building are still collapsing halfway in Nigeria. |

It is just that real estate developers have not created demands for such which I blame on the limitations of their imagination. After sharing the news online, internet users have reacted differently to this.... See the full gist below
Source; http://www.nationalhelm.net/2017/03/nigerian-lady-reportedly-dumps-her-man.html No big deal. He should contact the Department of Homeland Security. They in turn will put the lady's name in the database of US Department of Justice. The lady will be removed from US. A fiancee visa stipulates that they must be married within 90 days of her arrival in US or she must leave the US. If he hangs the case for her neck, she will have a difficult time living in US. We are advocating that they upgrade their tools and skills. Some basic masonry jobs are now going to the Togolese and Ghanians. There are reasons why the Arabs and Lebanese are taking over road constructions. Nigerians would rather put money in showing off than upgrading their businesses. You know a job that will take them one week will be done in 2 days with the right tools. He will have more opportunities to get other jobs. It is called good time management. If the cost of decking wood, nail and bamboo is N400k. A client will gladly pay N200k for those in each decking if presented as an option. For a three decking house, it will put atleast N600k or say N500k if discounted in the pocket of the contractor. The same goes for plastering the outside of a house instead of wasting money on 2x4s and planks. Building equipment pay for themselves over time. Ten jobs will be enough to offset the cost of procuring the equipment. The clients and contractor will be happy. There is a lot of unnecessary waste in building in Nigeria. A builder that goes around this logistics challenges will have his/her profit margin grow exponentially. All it takes is sitting down and THINKING. The first iphone was good. But today we have iphone 7 because oyibo knows that good things can be made better. Mercedes190 was good but Mercedes S63 AMG is better. We need to keep improving. Improvement doesn't necessarily mean more expensive, it means more efficient. / |

ice4u999: They lift it with what? They lift them with a winch. Some get creative by using forklift. Only in steel roofing or when very big construction companies are involved that have I seen a crane used. You can achieve the same result with less power tools. If you bring them to a site, those workers will find ways to lift them at the right price. It is just that we refuse to use our brain. |

wanaj0: There are reasons that makes it cheaper.
Firstly, there are 'standards' of materials. Such we don't have in Nigeria especially with wood. They have invested a lot in machinery that help them to mass produced standard materials.
Secondly, the infrastructure supports such construction practice. We have people building in places that delivery trucks cannot even reach. Is that where you will ask a crane to go to.
Thirdly, things are handled by professionals with great attention to details. Before you start construction you do a 'constructability' review that help to understand how the construction will be done and the issues that will arise. Still remember the IPP being constructed in Nigeria where they forgot that the turbine floated on the barge cannot pass under the bridge! Imagine how many of such 'little' things you will experience in Nigeria. Will you pay for the relocation of PHCN poles/wires for the truck carrying the roof carcass to get access to your site.
Now most equipment that are used on site use electrical power. Are you willing to provide uninterrupted power throughout the duration of your build with adequate lifting facilities? Ordinary steel scaffold we are not willing to provide hence the use of bamboo! You don't need a crane to lift those on 1 or 2-storey buildings. Do they use crane to move overhead water tanks unto towers? I have seen it done. They lift them one at a time. Instead of having carpenters nailing the work in place, they use nail guns. It makes construction easy. Truth be told. Our people can afford all these. A tool pays for itself over time. It is just that the artisans are more interested in stomach infrastructure than investing in tools. Any vehicle that delivers wood to your site can deliver these. Remember the only tools needed here are nails, hammer, saw and most importantly measuring device. As I stated, give the same tools to Nigerian workers and they will still find ways to screw it up. Heck! Give them cranes and vehicles, they will still screw it up. I don't believe it is lack of equipment/tools. They take pride in bad workmanship. / |

akinolaolujide: Will the clients be willing to pay the due cost also? What cost? It is cheaper and makes for more accurate measurements. The problem is that Nigerian builders lack ideas and innovation. One pattern/style comes up and everyone else copies. We continue doing things the way it was done in the 18th century. Most oyibo innovations are aimed at efficiency, reducing cost and saving time. That picture you saw is an evidence. The same wood, nails, tape and carpenter and subsequent transportation. Oh and the same wood lifting is involved to put them in place. Where is the added cost? As I posted a long time ago, a Chinese developer built a skyscraper carcass in less than two weeks. Why? Because there are professionals working as a team. Give the same job to Nigerians, equip them with measuring tapes and they will still give a mediocre output. They'd rather have ten jobs running concurrently instead of concentrating on one and finishing it well. Sometimes you have to chase carpenters and plumbers around to complete a job you gave them. It has more to do with character, culture than cost. We are mentally and intellectually lazy. Without looking at the details, your mind already raced to money while erroneously assuming that it is more expensive. It is this defeatist attitude and fear of trying new ideas that make for stagnant development. If in doubt, think about our refineries in this 21st century. / |

HumanistMike: News like these excite me.
These females have to learn how to act.
Toke Makinwa is next. They feel they are too diva to bother about court cases. They law isn't looking at your makeup laden faces dear.
You can't plagiarise or tarnish a person's image and hide behind your gender/makeup.
I bet when Maje's lawsuit kicks in, Toke will go to press crying and acting like the victim. It's difficult to out-victim a woman in the court of public opinion (even with all the evidence in the world) but it's pretty easy to out-victim them in the court of law.
I'll love to see how Toke will keep her face when she comes out to the press to cry after the court orders seizure of all the copies of her book.
"100mill in the account" for Maje! / Don't argue with women. Just sue them. // |

UltimatedeBest: Hope Uzodinma is d chairman Senate committee on custom nd excise. He is currently investigating customs of d missing 4 trillion naira since 2006 till 2016. How come customs never came up with dis rice revelations since until Senate started probing customs of d 4 trillion? I smell rat Isn't it obvious? The letter to Customs was dated November 12th, 2016 which means there had been underground moves to take delivery of the containers using his position as the Chairman of Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff. But when Customs wouldn't play ball, he decided to threaten them with "probe". The chronology of events shows that the seizure came before the probe. So what do you think? \ |

/ This is why I believe that as bad and poor as Nigeria is, any loafer found with earings, tattoos or braided hair should be hung by the balls.
Do you want to live, dress and act like American hoodlums? Well...the American Embassy is not too far.
