I was just pondering what a typical Nigerian homeowner would do considering that a lot of armed robbers are known to ask for access instead of forceful entry. Scary! Isn't it? The thought that some build 15ft wall and gates, yet armed robbers just pour acid on the wall, create a hole and crawl into a compound. / |

Just curious...
If you instal a supposed Turkish bulletproof door in your house and armed robbers insist that you open thr door, will you:
a). Open the door to let them in.
b). Call their bluff and damn the consequences.
Any takers?

Geraldyne: Hi, I've been single since my first relationship turned toxic and recently I met a guy, a student like me who's so into me...we got talking and I found out dat we have a lot in common and a relationship might work for us..we were friends for over a month till he recently asked me out which I accepted since I like him already...he's nice, loving and caring... Fast forward to two nights ago, he called and said he had something important to tell me about himself, that he's so in love with me and don't wanna get hurt when I get to leave him if I found out that ugly part of him, I got scared and told him to meet me up and tell me face to face which he did last night, he said he's a very deadly cultist and has killed a lot of people who stood in his way,he also said that he's a Lord or whatever and said many creepy things that scared me..he showed me d marks all over his back and I got goosebumps instantly,he was crying while saying this and I cried too.. I told him that I'll see him later and I've been dodging his calls since, had to leave school early today so he won't see me.. Right now,I have a lotta things running through my mind and am confused.. Should I continue this relationship knowing that am dealing with a deadly cultist or should I quit while it's still early?? fellow nairalanders help me
Thanks.. Don't quit the relationship. The world is overpopulated and we need natural selection to get rid of misfits especially when the misfits make themselves sitting ducks. |

SirJeffry: Apart from pissing me off with their driving, the Chinese are very good at managing resources. They come together to buy big houses and buy spacious as well low gas consumption vehicles for their families. 80% of Toyota sienna and Prius hybrid in LA are driven by them.
But when it comes to investment, no one gets close the Jewish. You are right. The Jews have one of them (The Rothschild family) owning the whole world already. They rallied around the family for seed money in the olden days. The Chinese are up there too especially considering how quickly they closed the gap with the West. Talking about their driving, there are two schools of thought: One group believe that their vision is impaired by the slanting configuration of their eyes. The second group believe that they are too stingy to step on the gas pedal. / |

ephi123: haha, I can imagine. The permanent residency is definitely a big appeal.
I know China is a rich country to an extent but I'm still amazed how so many citizens are well to do. Quite impressive. China is very rich not just to an extent. A country that extends credit facilities to US cannot be said to be rich to an extent. Once last year, they passed US as the biggest economy in the world per GDP. I travelled through Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou a few years back. Chinese cities are as mordern as it can get with evidence of a booming economy. My impressions about China changed after that. US does not respect and kowtow to a country for nothing. |

ephi123: That makes sense, particularly No 3.
I think the group you are referring to is basically most households in the West, a lot do not save / spend away. I've always admired the shrewd nature of the Jews, didn't know the Chinese are similar. I don't know what city you live in. You see some of those Tour buses, they are loaded with Chinese investors from China scouting for real estate investments in USA. It gets them easy permanent residency too if they invest more than $500k. Sometimes if you listen to the news closely enough, you will hear Americans struggling with downpayments bitching that Chinese investors are outbidding them in real estates deals. |

ephi123: Is that because they cannot easily get a loan from the bank leaving them with no option but to pay in full? What exactly is the incentive for them.. 1. They are group investors (5 families will come together to buy 1 house) 2. The Chinese and saving money is like 5 and 6 no matter how little. They hoard cash. People call them stingy just as they use the same term for the Jews. Guess what the two groups have in common? Extra load of cash to invest in assets and not wasting funds on depreciable items like a group I will refrain from mentioning to avoid hurting anyone's feelings. 3. They do get near zero interest rates from their banks. |

For those who do, I wonder what the rationale is as it doesn't make financial sense imho, or maybe it's the emotional feeling of fully owning your own home. Or money laundering. Mostly Chinese investors. For citizens, there are no incentives to do so. |

Billyonaire: It is not the love I am worried about. It is how you intend to raise 2 kids for a man who does not give a damn and in the next few years you do not have the finances to see your DNA through. Love is cool, but love is not a dependable energy, it flows in and out and fractures your mind.
When making a decision, eliminate Love out of the equation and look at the situation without the coloration of love.
Love is a bonus in marriage, but not the yardstick. What you should be concerned about is if she is your Soul tie, if not, you might just be fighting a different battle which is much more than physical, and Love will be the first thing to jump out of the window and you will see a woman with two grown kids giving you and your little kids-to-come upper-cut, left-right and center.
I repeat, take love out of the equation and review the relationship a different periscope.
You will feel that same sensation for another lady and even more. There is no reason to marry on an account of Love.
Always allow love to be the bonus.
At the moment, make no promises.
Just let her know, time will tell
What becomes of you,
and her.
Bye. \\ OP is a virgin that just had his first intimate relationship. The little head is still in control. A few years down the line, he will smile at his naivety (assuming common sense prevails this time). His decision so far is based solely on her side of the story. salford: That repo though...lol. When the price of oil went bust. That was and is still a popular job in Alberta canada. People were losing jobs and repo was creating employment on the side. Some province would allow repo companies to go after debtors even after repossesion. Repo is a big business. They repo cars, yatchs, private jets, helicopters, you name it. When you borrow money from the banks, you are actually doing them a favour. They need to make loans to generate revenue and that is why they always extend credit lines to tycoons without fixed assets as collateral. The only reason they vet customers (especially among new customers) is to avoid deadbeats. |

CFCman: I believe if you fail to make payments for 3 consecutive months, the bank will begin the process of reposing your car.
The credit system over here has its benefits, but as you said, it has led to the financial ruin of millions of people. Sometime in December (or this January, I can't remember) there was a news report on CNN about how 6 million Americans were in danger of their vehicles being repossessed because they had defaulted on their car notes. Its this type of story that leads people to believe the Nigerian system is better.
However, I don't think a 25% interest rate (the average interest rates Nigerian banks charge) favors anyone except the bankers and the super rich in the country. Don't even bring Nigerian banks into the discussion. One may be better off borrowing from the mafians. But condidering the fact that most black people no matter their origin hate to pay their debts, I can understand. |

MsNas: Spot On. Ordinary $5K for the deposit on our house, we had to show a paper trail of where the money came from. Fax and faxed pages of the statement of the account the money was coming from. They pulled IRS tax transcripts. Called employers to verify employment and income. The paperwork we had to read and sign nko? Another headache. Not to talk of dropping $800K.
Like you said, careful not to rock the boat or everything will come crashing down. I know someone that had a car repoed. An SUV. The downpayment of $10K or more that they made was gone just like that. And they haven't even had the car for 6 months. such a shame but its the society we live in. Best bet is to pay your bills as at when due and you'll be home free Yep. Only people that have gone through the system will understand. It is somewhat difficult to explain. Personally, I have never used credit cards in about 10 years. They are only good to build credit for your first house purchase. Nothing beats having extra cash reserves. |
