How will you get mortgage with no credit history?

Remember that credit history is just a timeline of you owing money, paying or not paying, in time or late.

All of una wey dey borrow money from friends in naija and off phone are good candidates for bad credit history. So stop pontificating! grin

The only repercussion is not only destruction of credit file, but -
- Been made a bankrupt
- If you own a property, a charge would be levied on that property. When you eventually refinance or sell the property, they would get their money back + accrued interest........
- Charge made to wages and passed directly to employer for deduction in wage
Etc etc etc etc
I don't think you know how difficult it is to collect debt in US. You cannot arbitrarily put a lien on someone's primary residence. Court judgement? Goodluck collecting. Collection Agencies? Send a "Cease and Desist" letter. If you want be an A-hole, send in a Writ of Quo Warranto. They will finally give up. Credit history is the only thing at stake.

If an immigrant wants to buy a house in San Francisco/Silicon Valley, the immigrant must have saved up to $800,000... but we all know it's only Dangote or Davido who have thank kibd of money saved up from years of hard work
Like I said, even if you have $800k to throw down, they will give you so much wahala that you may think it is a crime to have cash. IRS will get involved. Franchise Tax board gets in on the game. The paperworks alone will be out of this world. You will have a whole lot of explanations to do. Let's assume you saved all your money, you better have a paper trail to prove it. If you wire anything above $3000 from your account, the agencies will be alerted. The system is set up that way. It is a win-win for the bankers. US hates people who hoard cash.

Can you rent an apartment without credit? Yes. Throw down six months rent. The problem is that most people don't have it.
Just about any well-meaning organization bemoans the fact that finance and money are not taught in High Schools to educate people. If they do, it will be bad business for banks. Banks do not count on your interest rates to make money. They are hoping for one late payment(even if by one day) to jack up interest rate from 2% to 21%. They bait slackers into financial slavery. You finance a car and miss a few months. Thanks God. They repossess the car and all money paid is lost. It is a win-win for everyone involved in the finance industry. The best part is that you become a slave at work. You will not want to rock the boat to avoid domino effect in your lives.

Such is life. Folks are comfortable in their levels thinking they know it all. There was a big scandal few years back about a leak in Panama papers involving shell corporations. Who were the perperators? Millionaires and billionaires of the world. How many people living 9-5 know about shell corporations? They live paycheck to paycheck, able to afford some things and pretend they understand the world of finance, money and how it works.

That's a complete lie. Only idiots in America think that way.

Even the current president of the US - Donald Trump filed for bankruptcy 4 times. His explanation- " I'm smarter than most people".
Yet Africans fill a huge portion of the spot he meant - the gullible ones! They know themselves, they can only brag of one thing alone - a US passport. Afterwards, everyone else in Nigeria is expected to listen to them whenever they talk - that how most of them think in their shallow minds.

There go a Nigerian lecturing people here on how the credit system in the US works when it's apparent he hasn't gotten the full picture yet.
The sleazy ones use bankruptcy to their advantage. Unofficial report shows that a total of 125 US Congressmen had filed for bankruptcy one time or the other. But lower middle class and "9-5"ers dread that word. Trump is standing tall today because of his business teflon skin. 50 cents was coached to use bankruptcy law to its greatest benefits last year.

Corporate bankruptcy is even worse.

If a girl asks those questions, she will be talked of in derogatory terms.

Why would a girl ask a guy how much he has in his account?
Is that flashy car owned or financed? I challenge the OP to go down to a dealership and throw down $50k cash for a car. The system is not built like that. Dealerships prefer financing because banks must chop too. $50k becomes $60k with interest and add-ons. They have no incentive for cash deals except "mom and pop" used car dealers that love to fly below the radar for tax purposes.

Everything I'm about to write down here is based on a family feud currently going on between a young man and his new wife here.

This young man has no steady job, lives a flamboyant life and post all kind of pictures on social media where he met the wife. I'm pained because the wife in question happens to be my town's girl and after hearing her side of the story, I was mad at her. Well, this is not the topic for today but let me give our sisters some advice here.
These are questions to ask before someone brings you here to suffer unnecessarily;

WHAT DO YOU DO ABROAD? Let him tell you where he works and possibly show you his work ID. If he tells you he's a biz man, watch him closely, that could be a red flag. I know there are genuine bizmen but most unserious and unemployable guys abroad pose as bizmen.

WHAT'S YOUR DEBT PROFILE? Generally in America, if you don't have some debts especially credit cards, you don't qualify for certain things but that doesn't mean one should live on credit.

IS THAT YOUR FLASHY CAR OWNED OR FINANCED? This may lead to you driving today and trekking tomorrow. Without a steady job, car financing coys may take back their car anytime there's a default in payment.

DO YOU LIVE ALONE? This is self explanatory.

WHAT'S YOUR TOTAL SAVINGS AMOUNT? I know this sounds odd but try to get an extimate by calculating the amount he saves monthly. Ask him jokingly if he saves for his future family. He should be more family oriented than friends oriented. "Too much sending my guys money at home" is a no no.

Lastly, if he doesn't personally come down for your wedding except with a very cogent reason maybe life threatening, he probably isn't a legal resident ie no green card or citizenship. In this case, you may likely stay longer in Nigeria until he gets his papers before you join him. Refuse such union because sometimes, he may be tangled with a lady here already for papers, a union he may not easily come out from.

If ladies do this simple research before accepting marriage proposals from obodo oyibo husbands, rate of domestic violence among Nigerians in the States will be at its minimum.

Yankee marriage is favourable to ladies who their husbands already made the ground running. They come to consolidate on their husband's achievements and prosper it more.
Asking is easy...getting honest answers is difficult.

It is funny that people who don't understand the credit system in US talk about it.

The foundation of US is built on debt.

Anyone who lives in US knows that there is only one question that answers all these queries.

Add naija sense to American society, you will be ok.
Live like Americans and you will be neck-deep in debt like most of them.

I don't understand....is it against the law for BDC to change that kind of money? Then what's the purpose of BDC if they keep arresting people changing money with them? If you don't BDC, a legal financial institution by the way, then abrogate the institution to stop all these nonsense. Personally I think they are responsible for the dollar scarcity...via hoarding
To answer your question:

It is not illegal but suspicious for BDC to be handling such a large amount of cash in one transaction.

The onus is on the owner to prove that the fund was not acquired illegally. If he/she can prove it, the haul will be released to him/her. The same applies to moving large amount of cash through airports of the world, the owner must declare any cash in excess of $10k.

ademola2017:
Hi Nairalanders,

I am in a state of dilemma as my marriage is shaking.

Before we got married, my wife treated me like a piece of shit and never gave me any regards or attention. Any little quarrel would be blown out of proportion and wouldn't talk to me for days. I did the calling always and each time I ask her why she doesn't call, she would say I should get used to it. There was a day when a baseless quarrel occurred, she accused me falsely and we didn't talk for more than two months. I stayed single and was already moving on until her friend came begging on her behalf. I wondered why she didn't come herself but all the same I accepted her back. She changed like she was doing me favor but I still persisted because I loved her genuinely.

Fast forward, we got married and I was hoping for a good future with her. As usual I was very open to her and discussed every issues with her. At a point, I found out the marriage was one sided. I gave more but got little or nothing from her. I never burden her with house chores or cooking at all. We sat always to talk about her attitude but she would say things are fine while I will be grieving and having sleepless nights. She will wake up in the middle of the night to check my phone to know if i was cheating. I swear I have never cheated on my wife... She knows my password and never hid anything from her.
As we went on in the marriage, her behavior became worse and couldn't condone it again. She never saw anything wrong with her attitude and would say her apologizes are expensive.

I decided to do a background check on her and found out she double dated all through when we started dating and gave the guy more attention for 2years of our relationship. When things went bad between them, she fell back to me and unknown to me, I accepted her back. She and her ex were still in good communication till the night I confronted her. She would rather confide in her ex than confide in me (Now husband) Now, I feel so hurt, betrayed and used and can’t trust her again.

She has been very apologetic and says she is ready to change. So if had not found out about her double ways, I will still be condoning her insolent ways. I am seriously finding it hard in my heart to forgive her. Even if I do, I can never ever forget because I do not trust her again.

What will you guys advice?
You deserve it.

Don't they have emergency protocols?

If a mother is in acute respiratory distress during delivery, activate ACLS. On the same protocol, intubate and provide mech. Ventilatory assist. Move to the OR for CS. Monitor and wean the mother as necessary. A very simple algorithm.
Nigerian medical personnel are fvcktards.

The Ministry of Health should classify health establishments. People build clinics and call them hospitals luring unsuspecting patients to untimely death. A nice edifice does not make a hospital-- there are minimum requirements.

4. Outside wall - 23sqm

I don't understand why adults would want to be spoonfed. You have an area to be covered with tiles. Grab a tape, take measurements and convert. If the conversion seems tedious, go to google, put in the data and get the result.

Is this rocket science?

The guy that gave you the quotation is probably out for blood and you appear to be helpless in the situation. Why make simple things complicated?

Eg: length : 40ft. Width: 18ft.
I put in 40feet x 18ft on google and it gave me 66.89 sq.meters.
A carton of tiles tells how many sq.m or sq.ft it contains. Divide your total Area with the number of sq.m or sq.ft in a carton and bingo!

There you have it.

TonyeBarcanista:
By TonyeBarcanista

I read the statement credited to Presidential Spokesman Segun Adesina advocating that President Muhammadu Buhari, his boss should seek reelection in 2019 and even assured him of victory.

One of the problems with public administration in this country is the attitude of those around the corridors of power and their shameless sycophancy. It is only a sycophant that will suggest that a president, that not only failed woefully within two years of assuming power but also is caught up with the challenges that comes with his age as a 74 years old.

FEMI STATEMENT INSULTING ON NIGERIANS
I find it insulting on the intelligence of Nigerians that instead of the President Aide to advice his boss to consider bowing out in honor in 2019 if he wouldn't for the sake of his ego step down now, Femi instead is already pushing him to seek reelection, thereby exposing the President to further ridicule and a potential disgraceful defeat.

For the sake of posterity, the President has been battling ill-health since the first quarter of 2016. He has gone on medical trips to London for a record 5 times and spent a cumulative 82 days for this cause between the said period and now, the longest being the 50 days he spent in the first quarter of this year 2017.

WE CAN'T CONTINUE TO FUND HIS MEDICAL BILL:
In September 2016 alone, Buhari media Aide Shehu Garba admitted that the President spent a whopping N20,000,000 to treat his ear alone, even though Nigerians believed that the money expended was in the region of £3-£6Million, yet the quoted amount is too exorbitant when one consider the high level poverty rate in the country and the fact that N1,000,000 is considered a luxury for an average Nigerian. More worrisome is the fact that the President men never showed invoices or receipt to back up their N20,000,000 claim.

Only a couple of days ago, government spokesman Alhaji Lai Mohammed came out to tell Nigerians bluntly that the administration will not disclose what was expended on the President in his 50 days medical sojourn in the UK, a statement any rational being will consider insulting considering that the administration came on the change mantra and pledged transparency, as well as the existing Freedom of Information Act that was passed and practised during the PDP administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

We cannot afford to be paying from the meagre resources of the country for the unending health challenges of the President. It is a shame that even the President admitted of returning to London to continue where his doctors stopped and Nigerians money in the range of millions will be expended on that trip. Such a lifestyle cannot be sustained for another 2 years not to talk of an additional 4 years.

BUHARI'S 2019 EXIT IS SACROSANCT
I wish to add that Nigeria constitution grants executive power on the President, it therefore means that the President must up and fit to perform his mandate, there is no room for part time or ceremonial presidency in Nigeria and we can't smuggle it in. It is either the President quit and face his health challenge or he remains in power and honorably bow out at the expiration of his mandate in 2019, this is what Nigerians expect of him, this is what is fair to him.

The President must bow out in 2019, he has made history by leading the country as both a military man and a civilian, he has made history has the first opposition politician to defeat a sitting president and ruling party in Nigeria, but he has largely failed in his duties, his health is posing a big challenge both to him and to the purse of Nigeria, the only honourable thing is for him to exit after the expiration of his term in 2019. Anything other than this will lead to his disgrace at the poll in 2019. Nigerians are prepared for this patriotic task.

May God Bless Us All And Bless Nigeria will

Shared on palmchat
It seems that you forgot that you are talking about Nigerians.
The same folks wailing the most will collect N1000 and two cups of rice to vote Buhari back in power. Then take the next 4 years to continue wailing. Nigerians see suffering as a privilege and the politicians oblige them.

Most Nigerian voters do not have the common sense that you are ascribing to them. They prefer immediate gratification--penny wise, pound foolish. Don't hold your breathe.
