Perhaps I am the only one that don't see the big deal in this issue.
No one is perfect. No human being is infallible. Only God is perfect.
The problem is that instead of worshipping God, Nigerians and other losers are worshipping the pastors. Folks have pastors' pictures and stickers in their houses and cars for protection. They don't believe in God's protection anymore. So for these eggheads, it is inconceivable that a pastor is imperfect after they placed him/her on a pedestal.

Career › Re: I Outshined My Employers, Now I'm in Trouble by InvertedHammer: 8:27pm On Mar 09, 2017 |
B2Spirits: What you should know is that special skills can't be hidden by individuals that possess them. It's like managers getting pissed off with celebrated dribblers with less goals.
I worked as a manager in a company owned by a professor of literature. Most of the meetings took place on WhatsApp platform where contributors are experts in the field, except the owner.
I have found out that rich people always want you to massage their ego even if they are wrong, and prefer losing, at times, to following a commoner's advice. I had never wanted to outshine them, but whenever I perceived that the result of not heeding my advice would be fatal, I would devise linguistic crafts that could only deliver the message to the prof. despite being read by all. The others would hail my language use sophistication, without them knowing that the prof. was smarting. He would have no other choice than submitting to me.
Along the line, he devised ways of making me look stupid, and I quitted when the ovation was loudest.
Now I've secured a new job in an hospital. My job description is purely about presentations--assisting the owner, who has been taking up this role before my arrival. It also requires me to be in the hospital everyday. Here, I normally don't have much to do between 10am and 4pm. Since that I would be busy at night and in the morning, I use that period to shop and and get important stuff done--I would still obtain permission before embarking on these. This job should have more men on shifts, but they don't want to hire more persons.
Being a good orator, my employer felt threatened and stylishly mentioned it in one of his presentations.
In his words, "Don't be surprised at our new man's ability to compete with Mark Twain as an orator. We all have special skills, and you are well aware of mine as not being oratory."
That marked the beginning of dramas.
I have an apartment in the hospital. The TV here has DSTV subscription paid for monthly, and linked with hospital wards.
Two weeks after my arrival, the owner disabled it. His reason is that he doesn't want patients to be watching ungodly channels. Know that Tv in the wards must be switched off by 8pm. But I watch it in my apartment anytime I want. I see this as a calculated attempt to get at me.
It's evident that this man wants me to live as a slave from other policies he rolled out later, and added them to my job descriptions. For instance, he found something meaningless for me to be doing by 10am to 4pm in a bid to pin me to the office at all cost, knowing full well that I use that time preparing my presentations.
Now I'm planning to quit, but my people are saying I intentionally want to throw away an opportunity. What's your take? / If your boss could get to his level with his skills, imagine what you can do with a higher level of skills? The problem with intelligent folks is that they are too scared to start anything. So they end up working for C students with incessant whining that their skills are not being appreciated. Your boss has one head as you. Go out there in the trench and get dirty. Your limit will be way above the sky. You are the only one holding yourself back. // |

mavverick: 7 weeks ke.
So what would be the timeline, thats some amazing level of project mangement/supervision and some kind of efficiency. I would like if someone can give a rough timeline of how this can be possible, 7 weeks . A Chinese developer built a 57-storey skyscraper in 19 days. Nigeria is not technically and technologically advanced yet. Some of the parts of the buildings we have could be prefabricated but people don't have money to invest in such a venture. For example: With all the measurements, a fitter and a carpenter can make all the pillars and beams prior to digging the foundation. Even the staircase will be designed. When works starts, the fixtures are put together and a concrete truck pours all the concrete in one day. Then the partitioning comes after the concrete works curing and voila! You get a complete skeleton in one week. But it needs high technical experience and expertise. Nigeria is not there yet. Julius Berger does it in some of their projects. |

Award200: Police arrested her not because she is a strip dancer but as blackmailer. Blackmailers always have something in common. An evidence that can nail and expose their culprit. A blackmailer doesn't necessarily need evidence to harass a victim. What they do is recreate a scenario that fits their narratives and push victims to pay. Some people pay to avoid the embarrassment from having to defend their honour in public. In this case scenario, we have a pastor and adultery. But somehow they keep railroading three/some, cunninglingus and other imaginative acts into the story. All based on rumour and innuendos. I know a few men who went on dates and were blackmailed into paying off ladies to avoid allegation of attempted rape. In one particular case, a white lady got paid because the doctor was worried about his licence and reputation. He is innocent. But if he had chosen to defend the allegation in public, his livelihood would have been shattered. Just like in negotiating with kidnappers, people pay not because of right or wrong but to get the problem to go away. If the lady comes out later to denounce all these allegations, the harm to Suleiman is done already. |

spyder880: Well, it depends, because right here there is still a big boom in construction in my area. I have had to expand to Benin where we are doing a decking and to Abuja where we are planning to break ground for a new 6 flats next week, in Enugu we are planning to start a 48 room hostel, and a magnificent duplex, all for different nairalanders.
I still have about 3 ongoing buildings started last year, and work is progressing there. Things are costly, but people are building, all my friends that sell building materials are not complaining too much of slow sales, its been a case of people getting more desperate to complete projects before things turn from bad to worse. This is how I look at it: 1$ = N190: cement @ N1,200 = $6.3/bag 16mm rod @ N113,000 = $595/tonne 1$= N500, cement @ N2,600 = $5.20/bag 16mm rod @ N280,000 = $560 Inflation has not caught up with dollar fluctuations. For a diaspora Nigerian, this is a good incentive to build now. Or better, push the fund home and hope that prices will crash. Tomatoes prices crashed. Rice price is crashing. I believe that the cost of building materials will come down too. This is not the best time for anyone earning money in naira to be building. |
