You come to the west for better education and better life wink 3 out of the 5 first generation universities are in the west. Even university rankings confirm that the best universities in Nigeria are in the west. Those who want the best education will naturally gravitate to where they can have it. What we have as advantage is that most Yoruba parents will rather go hungry and wear worn clothes than deny their children of education in these our top universities.

If you had the best universities, you wouldn't be voting in a Tinubu.

Those who think education is expensive should try ignorance.

Now it's clear to everyone that the FG has been hugely subsidising education yet the ungrateful unpatriotic beneficiaries of this heavily subsidized education will immediately transfer the education overseas and still turn around to talk down on Nigeria. Smh. They will lose! You can not cheat Nigeria, Nigerian tax payers and go scot free.

Very soon, these FG schools will be charging cost reflective school fees while indigent students will get loans to pay it. Hardworking, brilliant indigent students will get 100% full scholarship and bond to serve for few years to repay so others behind them can get same scholarship.

The welfarist system of the state drove the nation into monumental debts and widespread multidimensional poverty that produced a largely mediocre set of unpatriotic graduates with entitlement mentality. Imagine generations raised on fuel subsidy, electricity subsidy, education subsidies, health subsidies, free money cash transfer of npower, ponzi schemes, crypto etc, yet spend most time on Twitter, NL and other social media platforms. That's a legion of generations of largely unproductive lot! It is not sustainable anymore as our debts keep mounting and more youths get used to easy and fast money.

Our universities will now be forced to go back to the days people know why they are in school and will face it squarely to come out with great grades. NUC should equally ban federal universities from admitting JAMB candidates who score less than 200. It's ridiculous that UNICAL is admitting JAMB candidates who score 140 shocked How on earth should FG be subsidising the education of a mediocre student who scored 140 out of 400. That's a 35% fail score!

Everyone must do the right thing to return this nation back to her consistent winning ways. Parents will now take parenting serious because the era you born excess hoping that govt will feed, clothe , train and educate them for you is gone.

Yeah it is sad, but at the end of the day we have two choices here

Remove subsidy, and suffer hardship for a long time, but long term, get a chance at some investment and more domestic refineries (it does not mean our economy would become like the US and China, but it does make things a bit better).

Or keep subsidy, and the subsidy costs grow, until we are spending loans, revenue and non existent money on subsidy. Then IMF decides to pull the rug....and then if you think we suffer now...

No, it does not mean Tinubu is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Are Tinubu and NASS suffering the hardship?
Some of you are so da.ft.

Putting the horse before the cart isn't the way to go about things. You don't have to suffer before enjoying. What stopped the government from increasing local petrol production before removing subsidy? Smh

Fruitless exertions that will avail nix! Obi's political career is as dead as dodo and he's to blame. You don't plant coconut and hope to harvest palm fruits. He could have stayed on in the PDP and agree to be Atiku running mate. Or, what governance experience did he acquire between 2019 and 2023 that he should think that he's bigger than his former principal? National politics is far higher than Anambra politics. That's the basic truth Obi's boastful kinsmen failed to tell him. How would anyone from a fractioned political party expect to defeat another who had been building nationwide bridges since 1993? A man who didn't ask for contracts and other perquisites from the government he helped to install. How many politicians could have done that? Obi's time has faded with the February 29th sunset, and no amount of birthday celebrations, hospital and IDP camp visitations can revive it. If only because when the sun rises it doesn't look back until it fulfills its daily course. There are countless Igbo politicians like Moghalu, Onu, Umahi and Soludo who are miles away from Obi in competency, etc. who can easily be BETTER Nigeria's president! So, why the fixation on Peter Obi, a man who can in no way light a candle to any of those great men?

Did you vote Moghalu during the previous elections

Not all Igbo hate the Yoruba and Yorubaland. I am sure of this fact 101%! My only issue with those minority of Igbo is that they don't speak up because they are scared. It is their silence that gave room to those ignorant of their positive vibes to dominate the narrative. I know many of my Igbo friends, especially the childhood friends, who will rather converse with me in Yoruba language than in English language. In fact, my Igbo friends overseas do it even more so that foreigners around them don't hear our conversations.

These minority of Igbo with excellent relationships and experience with their Yoruba need to speak up more and showcase how they have been blessed by their love for Yorubaland so the hate-filled Igbo can realise how they are hurting themselves and the Igbo tribe's reputation and relationship with the Yoruba.

Those Igbo who love the Yoruba and Yorubaland will always live in peace in Yorubaland, respect the Yoruba culture of respect for elders and leaders, pray for peace and prosperity of their hosts and Yorubaland will in turn bless them. They are the ones who are already Yoruba even by adoption. They will not go into politics of lies, hate and bigotry against the dominant political interests of the Yoruba not because they don't have a right to do so but because they cherish the Yoruba and want to make peace. They are not cowards but exposed, emotionally intelligent and wise people.

This is the best time to invest in Lagos and the neighbouring SW states. Invest in Lagos today.

In my years alive, I have never seen a more brainwashed set of people than the supporters of labour party.

Firstly, the problem been referred to here is the likely pandemonium the 25% in Abuja debate if ratified by the Court will create for future Elections.

> It will elevate Abuja voters above all other states in Nigeria.

> It will go against the constitution of Nigeria that states all votes cast in Nigeria are equal because it will mean casting your votes in Abuja is more important than casting it in Akure, Onisha or Kano.

Secondly, a runoff doesn't itself guarantee that the winner of the runoff will still get the 25% requirement in Abuja. So will we simply continue to go for runoffs until the winning candidate get 25% in Abuja even if he gets 25% in all the 36 states of the federation.

Furthermore, this will put a weird spotlight on the democraphics of Abuja in future Elections which might create an ugly situation. Politicians might just import people from other states to make up the 25% in Abuja which might create an unwanted national debate in the future. Tribes will begin to fight over who should be allowed to vote in Abuja etc.

In conclusion, Tinubu's lawyer in his final written argument to the judges is only pushing his legal points with real life likely scenarios that might come out of the judgement.

LP didn't draft the constitution

Obi that would have removed subsides if he was in charge.

(Not that he is wrong).

It is like you don't know the damage years of being reliant on just oyel money has done to this country, and years of keeping subsides and borrowing because of low oil prices. At the moment we don't have cash for another round of subsides.

If Obi or Tinubu or atiku brings back subsides, it would eventually tip our economy into damage. To the point that there would be no money even for looters self.

And do you know the damage removing it has caused too ?

Oga, without a cushion , it's a death knell.

As they removed subsidy, how much has been saved and what was it used for specifically?
Are Tinubu and co suffering with you? They just increased their own salaries and you are here saying subsidy did this and that.

How is that they removed funding for most institutions and still removed subsidy , so the FG shed all responsibilities and decided to increase their own salaries and car fleets. Senseless

Business / Re: Naira Now Undervalued After Float, Bank Of America Says by InyinyaAgbaOku(m): 1:44pm On Jun 30, 2023
DeLaRue:

The government should continue to spend more than $5 billion a year to subsid⁶ise an artificial naira value of N460?

And another $9 billion to subsidise petrol.

And also subsidise many other sectors of the economy.

Mostly with borrowed money.

Are you a baby that government must subsidise every aspect of your life.

Are people in Togo, Republic of Benin, Ghana etc not surviving without ruinous subsidies.

You want the country to go bankrupt like Sri Lanka, Argentina, Lebanon etc

If the country goes bankrupt, naira will go to about N2,500 (or more) to a dollar. I guess your subsidy eye will clear then.

Anyway, the naira is not on a complete free float. The current market price is closer to its real value that N460 was. Government will support the naira if it falls too hard.

It will eventually find its natural level, and that level is likely to be under N700 for some time.

So,what does the government want to do with all the money if they aren't going to be shouldering these responsibilities.
You removed subsidy and the costs are transferred to the masses.
You don't want to fund professional bodies and the masses are taxed by these bodies for revenue , you don't wan to subsidize education anymore , and the people pay. Pay from where ?
Are European nations that do free quality education and other things thinking their people are babies ?
What's with defending hardship?
Did Tinubu give you a timeline of when the suffering will end and where he will put the money in if not that he and cronies will embezzle them ?
They have refused to increase their own salaries while the masses have become poorer from paying for everything. What's is his government going to be doing for the people? Are Tinubu and family suffering too ?

It's laughable.

Every hour, Nigerians are monitoring Naira/USD rate even when they don't do any international trade.

Tailors, office workers, landlords, teachers, market men and women etc are discussing dollar rate every day.

Every time the value goes up by any amount, people's blood pressure rises enmass.

My sister has no business with the dollar, but anytime she calls, she will ask if I know that dollar is so and so

The slavish obsession with the dollar is contributing to making more people wanting to buy it, therefore destroying the naira.

People are just 'doing themselves '.

We are not Americans. Dollar is not our currency.

Why are we obsessed with this currency.

I don't think there's any country in the world where whole swathes of the population have deified another country 's currency.

Mumu.

Is the country economically better on its own , barring the dollar news you keep talking about ?

You suddenly know better than every other country that gets excited about dollar news, it's not a Nigerian thing abeg .

With lots of things imported , is it not clear that the dollar value will affect the prices of goods. Same applies when you want to export things.
Have you paid school fees for anyone abroad before ?
