@HND-holder It's very annoying. |
if there is any difference then it should be in the course work of the HND. The HND has a technical bias in all or most courses unlike the Bsc. |
HND holders are still facing intense discriminaton in the public and private sectors. What really is the difference between HND and BSc? |
lollyefisi:You lie. why won't we be concerned about the discrimination, when unqualified university grauates are preferred to qualified poly graduates in most organisations? |
Fortran programming is still very useful. only lazy people hate fortran. |
@dnex Thanx jare, I have said it before that most Lagos state indigenes are muslims. Most Lagos state indigenes that are christians are converts from islam to christianity; that is why you will still see a Monrufu and a Rashidat that are Christians. (Monrufu and Rashidat are muslim names). |
@dayokanu You said that the political power of Lagos state is in the hands of the muslims while business power lies in the hands of the christians. Good. But may i never hear you say that Kaduna state is a muslim state as some of you use to say; because Kaduna state has never been ruled by a christian before. Kaduna state also has a balanced number of both religions, but it has always been from muslim to another muslim on the governors seat. |
hassymo5:very annoying and painful. Both the HND and Bsc have failed to move the nation forward. |
Majority of Lagos state indigenes are muslims (not fanatical ones sha). Those that are christians only converted to christianity later. if not true, why is it that most of the Lagos state past governors are muslims. |
joy2dworld:Does that mean that all Bsc holders work harder than HND holders to be given more recognition and be placed ahead of HND holders ?? |
richness:No, not HND alone, but Polytechnics should be scrapped as a whole; cos any certificate (whether HND, Bsc, BTech, Msc or MTech) that bears the name of any polytechnic will still face discrimination. |
madee:what you did was the right thing. HND in Nigeria is looked down at; banks use them as contract staff and not full staff. in some cases you are employed with ND even when it's obvious that you have HND. |
ToughLife:Better for you. Foreign Degree certificates are honoured here in Nigeria. When you come back to Nigeria you will see. |
bawomolo:You are not only an uninformed yoruba but also an uninformed nigerian. Lt col. Francis Fajuyi barely spent 6 months in that office before he was killed and you are talking about his achievements. OBJ that had the opportunity of ruling nigeria twice, first (1976-1979) and secondly for 8 wasted years (1999-2007), what are his achievements?? Murtala Mohammed's ADC died along with his boss unprepared. He was not ready to die; infact if he had his way he would have escaped. Fajuyi had every opportunity to remain alive but he chose to die with his boss Aguiyi Ironsi; that makes him a hero. |
Some HND holders are even better than Bsc holder, but the society has made them to believe that they are inferior to Bsc holders. Until the day the name polytechnic is replaced with the name university, graduates from polytechnics irrespective of the Degree the are awarded will still face discrimination in Nigeria. You cannot tell me that employers in Nigeria will employ a BTech graduate from polytechnic and leave out a BSc or BTech graduate from a university. I learnt FG wants polytechnic to start running BTech programs, but in science and Technology courses only. Social sciences, management and Arts courses will be stopped according to them. But i have a question to ask; why cant polytechnics award BTech degreees in a course like Accounting? after all some universities of Technology award Btech Degrees in Accounting? |
ToughLife:Pls i will advice you to stay away from any certificate that is not a Degree. Do not go for HND, rather go for Bsc. Bsc holders get jobs first in Nigeria, but i don't know of other countries. |
May the BTech certificate not suffer like the HND certificate, that's my own. |
DRANOEL:Pally are you saying there are no muslims in Benue state or in Tiv land? Is Abubakar Tsav (a police comissioner or AIG, i can't remember his rank again) not a Tiv and a muslim? There are a lot of Tivs in Katsina-Ala that practice islam. The idomas have thier own people too that practice islam. But does being a muslim make one Hausa? Are yorubas Hausas too, because majority of them are muslims? Are people from Auchi in Edo state Hausas? |
very soon it will be BSc vs BTech, because awarding BTech to polytechnic graduates will still not solve the problem of discrimination against polytechnic graduates. Our government are the reason behind this discrimination, and until they stop discriminating btw poly and uni as well as HND and Bsc the discrimination will always be there. Employers might change strategy by asking for "Degree from a recognised university". Only God will help Poly graduates in Nigeria. |
Hnd-holder:interested and qualified HND holders should be allowed to proceed to do Msc after their PGD. How can a polytechnic graduate with HND grow if he finds himself in the academic sector teaching if he is not allowed to do Msc after PGD? |
njazra:nothing my broda; but they are the ones that earn the pay. |
@HND-holder Thanx. But how do u know which PGD is professional and which is academic? because most PGD are called PGD without anything attached to them. as for the Masters we know that there is a difference between Msc and MBA/MBF etc. Do we have professional PGD and Masters programs in science and engineering courses just as we have in management and social sciences in Nigeria? |
Hnd-holder:Why did you say they are right? if you were denied the opportunity to do Masters after your PGD would you have gotten to PhD level? Whether professional or academic PGD, there should be a way out for HND holders to get to Msc level; i believe its just wickedness, thhey don't ever want polytechnic graduates to get to that level and meet up with them (uni graduates). |
shawn123:i wonder why some of us believe that nothing good can come from northerners and the north. What were we doing when these northerners were doing research on this? we were busy yarning and insulting northerners on nairaland, telling them how backwards and poor they were. Now with their backwardness they've been able to come up with a good proposal. Let them go ahead and start it jare, i believe they will put into use all the land along kaduna - kafanchan and kaduna - abuja roads into good use now (sugar cane cultivation). |
shawn123:Don't mind them; simply because kaduna is in the north they believe it has the same status as kano and sokoto or zamfara state. Kaduna state just like Lagos state has a balanced number of xtains and muslims. |
Ehiwere:no mind them jare them never enter labour market see wetin them dey carry HND holders do thats why. As far as most organisations are concerned HND holders are the best materials to be used as contract staff; very painful. |
trilla:my dear no mind dem; all na d same thing. wether you go yabatech or adamawa poly all na HND dem go give you. |
thehomer:it makes sense my guy. no state adopting sharia as the official law of the state will ever have a brewery for brewing alcohol within its boundaries. sharia has always been practiced in the north and in kaduna state before 1999, but that does not mean that kaduna state is a sharia state; rather it has sharia law/courts for people who believe in sharia and thats all. |
courage89:Well said jo. i wonder wat the problem is with those that are not happy with the development. thank God they are not going to convert rice, corn and guinea corn into ethanol. I like the kaduna initiative, it makes sense. |
@HND-holder some universities don't admit polytechnic HND graduates into their Msc programs even after they have obtained a PGD; what is NBTE doing about that? |
