This is another pointless exercise. Why use food to power cars? Besides I thought it was a muslim state so are they allowed to produce ethanol but stop those of us that take alcohol from drinking it?
mumu, who told you that kaduna state is a muslim state? is Lagos state also a muslim state?? kaduna has 2 giant breweries, NB plc and IBBI.

producing energy from landfill gas and animal dump(something abundant in Nigeria) seems like a better idea. in a time of food scacity, i'm not exactly a fan of diverting sugar-cane to fuel.
na sugar cane nigerians dey eat as breakfast, lunch and dinner? pls be happy for the north, atleast they have moved a step ahead.

The HND were trained badly by the B.sc. Now polytechnic will produce its own lecturers says NBTE
Are u saying we were not well trained in our various fields?? then how do we teach those that want to do BTech now?

@ISMAEL
HND are employed as lectures now to teach ND only polytechnic graduate will lecture the B.tech
I don't understand you o, HND holders have never been employed as Lecturers in the polytechnic; they are employed as instructors to teach Pre-ND and ND classes. Are you saying that HND graduates would be employed as lecturers in the polytechnic to teach BTech students? please shed more light let me understand you.
EducationRe: Polytechnic Wahala by ishmael(m): 12:26pm On Sep 17, 2008
@HND holder

are you saying polytechnic graduates with HND can now be employed as Lecturers to lecture in the polytechnic and not as instructors? Has NBTE (bunch of university graduates controlling polytechnics) finally agreed?

Are you saying HND holders will be employed to lecture in polytechnics as Lecturers? it pains me each time i see an advert for academic positions in polytechnic and i see HND being excluded or being asked to apply as instructors. Charity begins at home.
CareerRe: How Is Msc (masters) Experience Like by ishmael(m): 7:15pm On Sep 15, 2008
Redfox:
Msc is definitely less stressful to Bsc.u have to note that Msc is strictly research-inclined,defined mostly by your ability to comprehend the course work on your own with little classroom aid,it is relatively more interactive.one advantage is that it allows u the time to do other things,hey!with Msc u are more relevant in the macro-market.keep up.
Not all MSc courses please. Msc Statistics is more stressful than Bsc Statistics.
EducationRe: Polytechnic Wahala by ishmael(m): 7:06pm On Sep 15, 2008
who ask una to go near polytechnic? flee away from polytechnic o, else you will say had i known. Poly is a stressful school and its certificate is not wanted by employers both in public and private sectors. if there is a way, find way go university straight and save yourself the stress and insult.
EducationRe: Best Polytechnic In Nigeria by ishmael(m): 7:09pm On Sep 11, 2008
ebotex:
It is not right to conderm polytechnic because they are the only institution that will give a good technical education, and the polytechnic graduand are technical fit in any area of work, so polytechnic education is more honourable than university.

From Ebo.
Go and tell that to banks, oil companies and federal/state civil service.
PoliticsRe: Have You Ever Seen Or Heard Of A Hausa/Fulani 'hustling' Abroad? by ishmael(m): 6:10pm On Sep 11, 2008
congoshine:
Ishmael,
u be Malo?
I'm not one. But must i be a malo man before i say the truth? I live in the north, (kaduna and abuja), so i know exactly what i'm saying. We've decieved ourselves so much that these northerners are the poorest, whereas they are growing richer day by day. is Dangote a southerner? is he not one of the richest men in Africa today?
PoliticsRe: Have You Ever Seen Or Heard Of A Hausa/Fulani 'hustling' Abroad? by ishmael(m): 6:00pm On Sep 11, 2008
@sagamite

if northerners are POOR, then why are you complaining? How many northerners you get money pass sef? siddon there they decieve yourself say northerners POOR while the truth is that most of them are even reacher than you and your entire village. Common let's keep sentiments apart and say the truth, have you ever lived in the north before to draw a conclusion that they are extremely poor?
ignorance is a contagious disease, and it has affected so many southerners here.

@Deep Zone

Major Kaduna Nzeogwu is my hero. Senseless Ewe like you.
PoliticsRe: The North & Nairaland by ishmael(m): 7:53am On Sep 05, 2008
The Late hero, Major Chukwuma Patrick Kaduna Nzeogwu was born in kaduna and was named kaduna; and kaduna is a hausa word. He was not a northerner but he still bore the name till he died during the Nigeria/Biafra civil war. So bearing a hausa name when you are not hausa does not make you a hausa man.

Extreme illiteracy and poverty - again, worse than anything in the South.
Mechuonu!!What do you mean by illiteracy? What is your definition for illiteracy? Those hausa people you call illiterates can read and write in arabic and hausa language, does that still make them illiterates? Must everyone understand english before he/she is said to be literate? Was Usman Danfodio an illiterate simply because he did nt speak english?

What do you mean by poverty again? Apart from Lagos state and Rivers state can you name the other states in the south that generate more revenue than kano state and kaduna state?? There is poverty in the south too, atleast some communities in bayelsa and delta states have come out openly to tell Government how they are suffering, so stop saying that poverty is peculiar to the north alone.

But before we divert, this thread is about the north, right?
Yes it is about the north. I expect both the good and bad of the north to be mentioned not just the bad alone.

And when are you starting a thread about the south?
PoliticsRe: The North & Nairaland by ishmael(m): 6:06pm On Sep 04, 2008
@nuzo

why are you talking about IBB alone? What about Obj? when will he be taken to Farida Waziri's office? What about your own state governor, have they taken him to Farida Waziri's office? or you want tell us say your governor no loot??

My friend wise up, shine your eyes and stop being sentimental and tribalistic.
PoliticsRe: The North & Nairaland by ishmael(m): 5:06pm On Sep 04, 2008
@boyscout
God will bless you jare. We should be talking about which political party is the most corrupt and not which tribe. between PDP and ANPP which is more corrupt?? Remember each of these parties have both northerners and southerners as leaders, officials and followers both at local, state and federal level. That should have been the issue rather than putting blames on hausa people alone. How many of our governors in the south are saints?

@Big B1

Bros where you go hide? Long time no see on nairaland. I everly know say me and you must dey the same side. After all those men (hausa, yoruba, ibo, ijaw, ikwerre, kalabari, bini, ishan, isoko, urhobo, gwari, fulani, igala, idoma etc) don siddon do meeting steal money wey them suppose use take care of Nigerians them go come arrange set confusion make we dey hate each other. Each of them will return back home only for them to be telling thier people that the other tribe(s) have stolen all the money meant for development in their area; and some people go come gree them own begin dey react unnecessarily. Help me tell those guys wey no know to wise up jo.

@boyscout
Yes, my list was very brief; you can read what i said in that post; i said "these are the ones i can remember". All i'm trying to say is that all tribes, region and faith in Nigeria are guilty of corruption and responsible for the backwardness of Nigeria. Why blaming northerners alone? Remove the speck in your eye first before removing that of another man.

Why are you calling him a fool? You also sound foolish too to think that YabaTech is the all and all. Have you even been to Kaduna Polytechnic before? If you see it, then you will struck out that BEAUTY you included in YabaTech; but for Academics and Aluta i may agree with you. i said i may agree, not that i agree o. Because YabaTech is not better than Federal Poly Bida in terms of academics.

@Ismael

What exactly are u trying to point out?
That northerners are not the only reason why Nigeria is backwards; southerners are major contributors that you and I know very well.
PoliticsRe: The North & Nairaland by ishmael(m): 1:49pm On Sep 03, 2008
i wonder why most people on nairaland are always saying wrong things about the north and northerners. I pity those of you who feel or think that northerners are illiterates. Infact there are more lliterates in the south than in the north. I wonder what you people use in measuring literacy, probably reading and writing in english language. Rubbish!! Hausas in the north can read and write in Arabic and Hausa language very well, does that still make them illiterates? Some call them cattle rearers and groundnut farmers. Should dey also call southerners pig rearers, fishermen and cassava farmers?

Do we not have illiterates in the Niger-Delta who have not attended any primary school and by all cost want managerial positions in oil companies? Do we not have illiterates in yoruba land, that can speak and understand only yoruba language and may not even be able to write, even thier names? Do we not have ibo traders that attended no school, though may speak and understand english but cannot write?
Just as we have them (illiterates )in the north, we also have them in the south-east, south-west and south-south.

Make we allow northerners rest i beg.
CareerRe: Why Can't Hnd Holders Be Employed As Academic Lecturers In Polytechnics by ishmael(m): 5:54pm On Aug 29, 2008
our government do not believe in HND holders, thats the reason. I'm more worried becos the same polytechnic that preach that HND is equivalent to BSc is the same polytechnic that is refusing to employ HND holders to teach in the same polytechnic with BSc holders. i wonder what makes the HND equivalent to BSc if they cannot both be employed to do the same work. Charity begins at home.

I WONDER WHAT NIGERIA GOVT IS DOING TO OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM, POLYTECHNIC EDUCATION SURPOSE TO BE PURELY VOCATIONAL BUT WHAT DO WE HAVE TODAY, POLYTECHNIC OFFER COURSES {MOSTLY IN MANAGEMENT FIELD} THAT MADE THEM DEPENDENT ON THE LABOUR MARKET,RATHER THAN BEEN THEIR OWN EMPLOYER, I THINK GOVT SHOULD RE- PACKAGED POLY. PROGRAMME, NBTE SHOULD RISE TO THE CHALLENGE. ALL OF US CANNOT GO UNIVERSITY.
it's the fault of our government and other university graduates in the society. they don't care about polytechnic education. they look down at polytechnic graduates.

I have never think about discrimination as far as my HND certificate is concerned. I know whom i am, i do believe that i am special when it come to issue of competition. Presently i am working with a construction company and i am doing fine over there. During my interview for the job, 4 candidates are Bsc holder and i am the only HND. God have his way because i was found better than them when it come to computer stuff. I am working with Isrealite and Indian, they believe much in your ability rather than certificate. I will advise everybody to improve in their ability rather than discrimination.
Thanks buddies
You do well.
CareerRe: Hnd: A Dust Certificate by ishmael(m): 8:06am On Aug 08, 2008
Undue advantage has been given to Bsc Degree holders over HND holders in Nigeria in terms of employment, scholarship and job progression, that is why the society believes that even if you are a dullard and you find your self in the university you are better than an intelligent person that reads in a polytechnic. Even employers of labour in the financial sector have come to believe that Degree holders in courses like yoruba, hausa, linguistics, Arts etc. are better than HND holders in Accounting, Bus. Admin, Banking & Finance etc. for tellering job.

HND certificate is not a dust certificate, it has taken many to the peak of their careers.

May God help HND holders.
