I would suggest you visit a federal teaching hospital not just any govt hospital, cos they likely handle a lot more cases.
And also be sensitive spiritually, sometimes its not always medical.

Lots of water/fluid, and medications. Some referred to as tocolytics e.g sabutamol that @Olamitie mentioned, nifedipine or Ventolin.
Also some doctors prescribe progesterone support e.g duphaston(oral), Cyclogest(pessary)or gestone(injection).
I am presently on duphaston.

Stress and cervical insufficiency don't go well at all, even though some women are still able to go on with their normal activities with one on, some with modified activities, and with others no activity at all, but u never really know (it's better to err on the side of caution)
Cerclage according to studies has about 74% success rate in Nigeria, 85% in the US and up-to 90% in Saudi Arabia.
The most common cause of a failed cerclage is infection or uterine irritations (contractions after the procedure) usually within a few days, Or by PPROM after a few weeks or by loosening of stitches.
If it is still possible, you can shift your wedding date, or be on the strictest form of bedrest b4 that day and maybe talk to a few trusted people about it, including your pastor to be lightening speed brief about the ceremony, so u aren't too stressed, cos you can't be standing for at least more then 5 -10 mins nor dancing sef!

@mcseun, like jaysmama said, it's really a tough situation, dat doctor is not your friend at all, how can he advice you to still travel with a failing cerclage? No sugar coating this neither am I being a pessimist, 18mm is too short at 18 weeks .
Please stay back and be on very strict bedrest, I have read that sometimes a failing cerclage may be redone. If you had known you would have travelled and had the cerclage done wherever you were going to have your baby, I am guessing you knew about having it done before the pregnancy?
Now the question is which is more important to you, staying back on bedrest and losing some money or risking/gambling with ur baby ?

My dear, I won't lie, bedrest at home isn't 100%bedrest...bcs Dre's no 1 at home, I make myself both brkfast and lunch...but sumfin simple DAT dosnt stress me, I avnt been able to rest well sef, no light d heat is deadly, my husband isn't helping matters, today is petting me,2mao he is giving me emotional wahala... If not for hospital bill, hospital is d best place for bed rest...until next week Monday dats wen I should knw wats going to happen...

Not to worry my sister everything will be fine. Dont blame/mind DH u hear, men don't really understand these things, he might be going through emotional stress too, a lot of thots might be going through his head u know.
Just take each day as it comes.
And it's totally not easy to bed rest at home at all, one yeye voice will be telling you to just fix one small tin or d other, it wouldn't hurt, but please don't listen, it does make a difference. If you have your own bed, u can ask dh to please get some bricks and place under the foot of the bed to elevate it a little (tredelenburg position) *spelling* .
Rest ur mind as much as u rest your body, try not to overheat too, shower as much as you can to cool off.
don't stand for more than a few minutes to take weight of the cervix.

Scary indeed, lol! Off course he should be a qualified obstetrician, they do it here too, depending on some factors sha.

Kpele teamie, don't worry, this phase too shall pass. Please don't skip your routine drugs o, for baby's sake.
Me sef dey get funny taste in my mouth plus nausea, what helps me with taking fluid now is fruit tea sweetened with honey then ice chilled, since it's caffeine free, it's very safe in pregnancy .
Try your best to take fluids, it's very necessary too.
It shall end in praise!

Be thankful for you can bottle feed your baby yourself, think about hundreds of babies born everyday whose mothers pass on due to the process that has scared you, do those babies turn out differently cos they weren't breastfed? Some of them turn out to be the best among their peers!

This was the beginning of a new me, the process of change, redemption, salvation or simply put, Getting closer to God. My daughter was born on the 3rd of March 2002, 5 months and 2 weeks of pregnancy. She was premature.

I had just finished my overnight or 2nd job as a bouncer in a club in Germany. She weighed 790grams, not even 1kg. On seeing her tiny structure inside the incubator, I cried like I never cried before. I asked God, why, why me? After crying out my heart, I realized only a miracle could save her. She is the reason till today, why my faith in God is so strong. I laid my hands over her and prayed.


I did not know what to pray about, but I prayed my pains onto God and begged God not to allow my sins/punishment for my numerous transgressions be passed unto my little girl. I made a vow to God. 3 days later I went and paid the vow to my Church to be passed unto the poor and needy. My Pastor prayed with me. I prayed that my daughter would leave that Hospital without complications hence the vow/deal with God.

My daughter is 14+ years old now, straight A student, speaks 3 international languages already, and she left that Hospital without complications.

What else can I say? My pain as I saw it then was actually God’s way of drawing me closer to come to know him and have faith in him to prepare me for the movement that was to come. This was the day that the destiny of Judo Movement was redirected from waywardness back to the narrow path of Christ.
