.....this nigga actually made some valid points though;

6.9km road is awarded for ₦30B in Abia, but crititism ain't welcomed cos its a JB Project hence worth the amount.

9 internal roads are awarded in Aba town, till now no one knows the exact amount approved for the project, no even idea at all.

₦5B plus is approved for Office of Governor in the same Abia, yet no uproar.

If we can maintain same energy on every other state in the country, we won't be here shouting bad leadership, bad economy, corruption day and night.

We should make all state Governors accountable, not just LAGOS!
But in all honesty, that is if we want to be honest, the people that criticised Sanwo-Olu here are people that live in Lagos.

This thing no be contest. Even some people living in Lagos dismissed and laugh over it.

Prosper was complaining
Larri.de was complaining

Or do these people need some sort of verification to complain?

I never understand this Abia vs Lagos thing.

Even if these are true, these people took care to hide their origin and only took the identity of the place they planned to rule they spoke Hausa fluently their names looked like regular Hausa names and didn't diss Hausas at least in public

Just like the rumors of Babangida being a Yoruba man which he never validated

Do you think a man named Andrew Kayode Okechukwu would have been governor of Kano? If such man has ambition of ruling Kano he likely will have to change his name religion and blend in properly like many Ogbomoso people do in the North
How can you hide your origin?

So the opposition didn't know he was Igala at all?

In your effort not to receive flogging for your 'Rohr out' misfiring, you are desperately doing gymnastics.

I had answered you. Eguavoen was a placeholder, while Peseiro finally replaced Rohr. Go and check the meaning of 'finally' in your dictionary and see if Eguavoen's appointment, qualifies to be attached that.

I am talking of the core North like Kano Katsina Sokoto Bauchi etc

Foreigners believing they have earned the right depends on how the host body language is to you. You will find it easier to say you want to contest in USA and Australia than in Say Saudi or South African as a foreigner

Your example on the street the 30 Ibos will think of contesting because the environment is calm for them and not hostile. In places like Kano even if you are 30, and you want to contest or interfere in the political affairs its your own village people and fellow Ibos that will warn you that don't cause problems for the rest of us

For example during my NYSC we could know those parts barely tolerated us and maybe because we have FG protection
as corpers routinely our girls got stoned by small kids while adults looked on because they didn't cover their hair, Our LGA chairman will say he can only deal with (what name do you call the head of corpers in an LG) who is either moslem Northerner if you dont have in your set then anyone who can speak Hausa.

So it wasn't a shock when I heard in 2011, that the LGA was one of those places where Corpers were killed during Buhari vs Jonathan elections

Those places you mentioned too, they might not be Moslems they are also very radical, Its in Benue wey Idoma no fit rule as State governor imagine what will happen to Ibo contesting for Rep or LG chirman

I will say West is where they take politics lightly he most, in some places it is literal life and death
If the ratio of Igbos to Tivs are higher in that constituency, how will the Tiv win if we assume that everybody votes according to his tribe?

The truth is that in the North they are explicitly violent and any skirmish they will attack the foreigners. That will already tell you what you need to know about involving in their politics. Ordinary Danish cartoon, you don dey collect, Israel Palestine foreigners don dey collect, Miss world foreigners don dey collect. They never make you comfortable even if you are 5th generation in their land to nurse the idea of contesting

If you are already getting attacks from issues that had nothing to do with you or your stay there, will you now start thinking of governing in those lands?

In the West there is more tolerance that is why people get comfortable and start nursing the idea of contesting
That is why the mantra you hear is that "See the people who claim to be accommodating cannot let us contest and rule in their domain", Others don't care about claiming to be accommodating and they make that clear from day 1 and every other day
Many places in Nigeria the indigenes will always remind you of where you are from in your everyday life in not so subtle ways
I hope you are not interpreting the entire north for Muslims

There is still Kaduna, Parts of Kano, Plateau, Adamawa, etc that are not radical like the Muslims.

And that is why i said it is more of a foreigners believing that they have earned the right to represent themselves, rather than the hosts thinking they are doing them a favour

If Nigerians in Texas grow to a large extent and start contesting for elective positions, would you say Texas people are now tolerant, or you have become large enough to earn a place on the table?

If there are 30 Igbos on my street, and there are 3 Yorubas, are you saying the 3 are tolerant if one Igbo decides to contest for Street chairman?

This thing is both ways, but they always look at it one sided here

I have always argued that Nigeria can confidently pay 100k minimum wage but people will always say Nigeria is broke. I refuse to accept that narrative. The cost of governance alone can go a long way not to talk of corruption in other sectors ranging from padding up contracts figures, ghost workers etc...

How do Northerners put them in check?
The Northerners have this system of always positioning their people in the foreigners cycle, so that when there's a need to elect anybody, it is that northerner that the foreigners will always look up to, and not themselves..

How come you never hear of all these disrespect in other parts, except the West? These guys know how to place themselves at the top. They will appreciate you, respect you, but at the same time, guide you to those you can select to represent you.

Everybody wants to dominate, and that's a human nature, not an Igbo thing. Hausas and Yorubas fight here more than any other tribe. It is left for the hosts to coordinate how far foreigners can rise.

The problem with Lagos is that they let you grow and then when you get to a point you think you are ready to represent yourselves, they play tribal cards, give it any tag and try to bully you out of it.

Na only here that thing dey happen.

The cost of governance is just too high.

I am even mad that the Deputy governor of Ebonyi is running his office with 47 million. What the flying fck are they using 47 million for?

Then Abia Deputy is using 252 million.. Unto say Nestle and GSK dey produce their products inside?

Then LASG dey use 8 billion to upgrade website?

This right here is why I will never understand ethnic champions.

We all celebrate together when we hear that a Nigerian has won an election in NewYork or London or a European country. We see it as a sign of Nigerians great hustling and entrepreneurial spirit and being the best representatives of their country.

But when fellow Nigerians contest elective positions within their own country, we start hearing "go back" even to people like yourself who were most likely born there.

The whole thing is wrong and absurd. Imagine a third generation igbo in Lagos being told to go back to his "state". cheesy omoo APC really destroyed Nigeria this last elections. Let's see if it was worth it all along.
Lol. I will gladly go back. grin

You and I know that whatever played out in Lagos will play out everywhere in Nigeria. The only difference may be on how it is handled

But concerning the last elections, I still believe the Yorubas didn't handle it well.

When you have a larger number of foreigners trying to edge you off, you don't start playing tribalism. You simply keep them in check by staying at the top for them to select.

The Igbos are also in large numbers in the North, yet you don't see Northerners doing that. It is because they have learnt to put them in check.

Very true, if you go to a place in Calabar called Nasarawa or Boko Biri (Not sure I got the spelling right) you did swear they're the owners of the land because even the average Child of Efik descent born around these axis will most likely speak Hausa more fluently than Efik and they'll most times come across as Hausa because the prevailing culture affects the way they dress and behave.

I am not a student of history, but I can see reason with Ibime that an adopted language doesn't necessarily mean the people are from there.

My reason is my experience in Lagos.

If you go into some parts of Iba, you will see a large concentration of Igbos. The ratio can be 3:1 sef. You can literally be speaking Igbo from Iyana school down to Churchpole, and you'll see people who can understand you. They even have an Igbo primary school there. Many streets there have Igbo names. Churches, Village Unions, blah blah blah are Igbo-like..

Now, unless someone nukes that place, there's no argument that Igbos would outpower the locals there in say 50 years.

Then imagine someone coming in 200 years to say Iba in Lagos are people from Anambra state.

It is very possible for foreigners to outpower the locals in everything. But that doesn't translate to that place being an offcut from the foreign land.

I'm sure this is also in other parts of Nigeria too.
