BlueRayDick: I was in Lagos, in fact I wouldve been a victim along with my elder sister. We were only saved by sheer luck.
The date is 27th January 2002. We had attended a weeding of a relative along with our parents a day before at jakande, isolo. We were to return to iyana ipaja that Sunday afternoon to prepare for school on Monday while our mum stayed back with the bride's parents.
We had the option of going to iyana ipaja via oshodi or via ìkọrin route. If we had gone tru Oshodi, would either have jumped into òkè afa carnal along with those who died there or get trampled upon at oshodi in the stampede that resulted from the bomb explosions.
We followed ìkọtun and didn't even get to synagogue before the explosions rocked the air. We were scared and didn't even know whether pressed forward to go home and meet our dad or turned back to jakande isolo and meet our mum. My sister decided on the latter and we met our mum on her kneels praying fervently for God to keep her kids safe.
That day is one terrible day. I kid u not, I saw agberos confessing their sins live and direct.
If today's explosion is.anything close to what happened that day, then somebody really needs to do some serious investigations. Firefighters should not just put out the fire, anti-bomb squad should be made to investigate and scan the area for shrapnel or something. They shouldn't just sweep this under That's one sad day in Lagos I passed Oke Afa canal around January, and I just felt this sadness mhen |

Notice how Sahara called it "suspicious" explosion. Truly suspicious, brother If you were in Lagos during the Ikeja cantonment explosions in the early 2000s, today was somehow like it. The difference is today was just one blast, but exactly like that |

Na all these vandals na I doubt if people no go die for that kind incident Our response to emergencies in this country is very poor. I wonder what local governments do with their funds. No fire service, no ambulance, absolutely nothing |

BlueRayDick: NEMA is saying the explosion wasn't caused by a vandalized pipeline, but from a factory located around that area. But my concern is who approved factories to be built in residential areas when we have industrial Estates at ilupeju, isolo, ikeja etc with buildings either empty or converted to churches
This country get plenty problem o. An area where residential buildings and schools are sited is the same place factories find suitable for business while industrial Estates scattered all over the state are being abandoned or getting bought over by religious centres. As I type this, the flame is still up and burning I don't know if I should believe NEMA or not. Anyone living around Festac would how horrifying the blast was. I still don't know how a pipeline Explosion could have such an impact. Houses in Festac had their window panes shattered Maybe It wasn't a pipeline, but a factory? I don't really believe that |

pocohantas: Please and please, NEVER allow your account be used for any inflow. Especially at ATMs.
Someone close to me was a victim of something similar, I wanted to create a thread on it- but I have been lazy.
You've most likely been used as a PICKER. The person doesn’t own that account. I call them STRANDED COMMUTERS. They will always approach you with a sob story of how they are traveling, they need cash, but not with their DEBIT CARDS for withdrawals.
Then they’ll propose to transfer to your own and have you withdraw for them. Whatever they propose must always involve crediting your account.
People have helped withdraw ransoms without knowing. It is when you enter bank to withdraw and EFCC pounces on you, clear you from the ground with better sliding tackle- that is when you’ll know what you have gotten into.
What you’ll do depends on the severity of the restriction. One needs to see it to advise properly.
However, generally speaking, if there is an apprehend on sight placed on your account- you’ll be picked up the second you step into any branch.
If it is just the customer reporting, crediting your account with said sum and giving a written instruction for it to be sent back, would fix it.
For the first scenario, you will spend more. A police report and court order would come in.
The good thing is, you will learn, albeit the hard way. Not just ATMs my sister Some will transfer money to your account (how they get your details and phone number is what I don't know) Then they call you on the phone, saying that they mistakingly sent to you and blah blah blah, and they want you to send it to another account or whatever (different from the one that sent it to you) This country and wickedness ehn |

One thing you people in diaspora should understand is that Nigeria (of Africa in general) is better at Disease control management. We even have more experience seeing as in the space of 6 years we have battled 2 disease outbreak (Ebola and Lassa Fever). The last Cholera outbreak in Britain was in 1860. Remind me when we had our last one. It's hilarious reading you type that Nigeria is better in Disease control management. Not trying to spite the current effort of the government against Corona, but had it been the infected Nigerian had landed in any airport apart from Lagos or Abuja(maybe). I doubt if he will be detected. Our borders are currently open to travellers. God is good, GUO, ABC and the rest are playing the West coast daily. Who's checking those going outand coming in? I don't know if the hypothesis on Corona not surviving in heat is true, but I don't see us managing diseases better than Europeans or Americans |
