In other part of the news.

@izzuo
Like u said, proof of ownership of the vehicle, how about those drivers partners that don’t have the papers in their names?
[color=royalblue]I do not think they want to check if you actually own it.

I think they require that document so they can get the necessary information for their database and generating the e-tag

That's what I think, and I may be wrong

Very TRUE but you can't afford to create a scene at the toll gate with a rider on board, you know?

They open on public holidays too

I really don't understand what you guys are talking about or insinuating with this January and Snow and snow storm period of a thing.

The slowness of January is only but for the first 2 weeks, cos life comes back to norm on the 3rd week when all Offices, businesses, schools and all have resumed.

So, cos the surges are high now cos of the festive season, does it mean other months were bad?

Let's just say there are extra more money made on this kind of period. That does not mean other months are bad.

Please let's stop this kind of mentality. Make your money now and then by January, you go back to normal routine of things.
[color=royalblue]It is not a mentality sir. It's absolutely normal for it to go that way

Petrol stations, banks, eateries, and orgs experience decline in patronage. It has nothing to do with mentality. Economics explains it well

Some organizations have closed for the year. Schools have closed for the year. Shows and events are springing up. Workers have collected their salaries for December and even their 13th month. Bonuses have been paid. Commissions have been paid.

By January, that worker moving from one show to another would probably be seated in his office(waiting for his staff bus after COB). That student using uber would be in his lecture room seated.

It's not about being pessimistic. It's how business is shaped courtesy of Demand and Supply. Stop making it sound like some people wish others ill

Baba nothing will happen. This same people we have been moving from Point A to Point B will they not be in Lagos by January? Will school not resume? Will people not return from Christmas travel? Will offices close in January?

Egbon... This January will be sweet for me because I tailor all months according to my target. Once target is achieved nothing matters.
[color=royalblue]I really admire your faith and belief, but then, you're wrong. Businesses have peak periods and off peak periods

Yes, people will still move about in January, but it doesn't change the fact that there would be decline in attendance to shows, beaches, parties, funspots, events and the rest.

There are surges now because there are more requests, not because the cars have reduced. And these requests are because of events, shows and activities that stemmed from the festive season

I like your faith bro grin...But don't make it look like the reality doesn't exist

Romance › Re: As A Parent Will You Give Your Daughter Out For Marriage At Age 19 by izzou(m): 8:41am On Dec 24, 2019
grin

[color=royalblue]My daughter must be matured enough to handle the challenges that come with marriage.

My daughter must be able to take care of herself(at least) financially, and must be on the path to achieve her dreams

My daughter must be matured emotionally too; to know when to walk out of a relationship, learn to respect and love and also to demand respect and love too

If my daughter can achieve all these at 19, I would gladly support her union. I won't allow my daughter to go and be a kid to another man, or become a maid. She has to be his wife

OCar is part of an ecosystem (OPay). The more the valid information of users of an ecosystem there is, the more valuable the ecosystem is for the purpose(s) for which it was established because trust in the ecosystem will be high.

A good example of trusted and valuable ecosystems are PayPal and Amazon. My thoughts are that OPay is positioning to be a payments ecosystem. There is nothing you do that doesn't require a payment - go to work (OCar), visit the Supermarket one bus stop away (Scan QR), urgent meeting and need to beat traffic (ORide), hungry (OFood), broke (OLoan), rich and want to invest (OWealth), want to gift someone cash (Transfer); etc.

They might have surveyed and heard drivers' complaints about inadequate infos other platforms require for a rider to register.

I guess they are just going extramile to do what other platforms havent done to protect the drivers and hence attract more drives due to that.
[color=royalblue]But the app is shiiityy
Their customer service is the worst sef grin

Before Ocar came out, I've been reading on China, AI and the future of technology. And just recently, I'm starting to get convinced that these guys are up to something

One of the reasons of the US clamp down on Huawei was that they suspected the company was sharing data with the Chinese government.
And already, The Chinese president has said his country would be the AI giant of the world before 2025. And what's the major requirement for AI? DATA

I think these guys are up to something. Not just Nigeria, but China is trying to get Africa on its side when the Cold war starts

Sorry grin
I just felt like typing this rubbish thought somewhere. Make una no vex for derailing grin

[color=royalblue]Quick Question

We have Uber, Bolt and Opay as the three major ehailing companies in Lagos

But why does Opay demand more information to use their app?

Is it because they want to protect the driver, or is it much more than that?

[color=royalblue]The driver na thief naa grin

I remembered a day I carried a man to the island.
After passing Abacha estate, he said I should use VI. I told him that Ikoyi is faster, but he insisted. Got to his estate at Jakande, trip was 5k plus Instead of 4k as he suggested.

I told him it was the VI we passed. I ended it, he saw his receipt and apologized.

The moment that guy refused to end the trip showed he was deceitful.

Bolt says I should pay the driver #2600.
From my calculations:
1) Base fare #200
2) Distance is 23 km, not the 35 km Sakamanje he did #65/km * 23 km = #1495
3) Time: He got to the foot of Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge in traffic and then turned back into VI in traffic, spending more time on the trip than was necessary. In fact, the app estimated 50 minutes for the journey; my man spent 2 hours 47 minutes parambulating. Let me just pay him for 2 hours: #10/minute * 120 minutes = #1200
4) I'm adding Lekki toll gate (Ozumba Mbadiwe) fee = #200
5) Total is #3235
6) There is a #300 discount on the ride #3235 - #300 = #2935.
7) I sent the driver my analysis as well as #3000; and messaged him that I will pay the "remaining" #1900 if he makes a convincing case to me.

Thanks guys.
[color=royalblue]The moment you revealed to him that the rider was a JJC(an honest statement though), offered him an offline deal, and suggested to pay via transfer after the trip,..... That was when the Devil crept into the car and started advising Mr Pilot

Compliments of the season sire

[color=royalblue]My question is

Why did it take about 45 minutes to confirm the trip? Why was he reluctant to do so?

Whether failed trip or not, oga had the intention to cheat

You passed Alexander road and instead of climbing Ikoyi bridge, you passed Bourdillon. Why didn't he pass Rewane from the beginning, since the rider wanted VI?

I'd love nitigriti to pay him the actual fare, but let's not try to put any silly defense for this guy. He wanted to cheat, and it was very clear
