lorddannie: please check the list of the 'victims' and relate the incident to the death of samuel garang of sudan. You will convinced that there is a islamic suicider amongst themIt is very sad for Africa, no wonder we are so behind in everything. We prefer to be superstitious than to be rational thinking human beings. This is not an abnormal incidence in NIGERIA, this is just another sign of how rotten our institution and governance is in Nigeria. It is because the victims are top political figures that all these stupid conspiracy theories are cropping up. THe history of crashes in Nigeria suggests things like this will keep happening until wake up and address institutional failure History of Non-Commercial air Crash January, 2010: A Nigerian Navy Agusta reconnaissance helicopter crashed in the swamps of Mmiri Ochiochi in Obodo Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State 3 Naval officers September 16 2006: Air Force plane crashed in Benue State killing Army generals. November 10, 2006: A six-seater helicopter belonging to Odengene Air Shuttle (OAS) crashed in Delta State, killing two people. March 14, 2002: A helicopter belonging to the Joint Task Force (JTF) crashed in Kabong, Jos, killing all members on-board including four senior police officers. August 2, 2007: Bristow-owned helicopter crashed inside ExxonMobil facility in Port Harcourt November 10, 2006: OAS Service Helicopter crashed in Warri, Delta state killing four on board September 17, 2006: An 18-seater Dornier 228 Air Force transport plane, carrying 15 senior army officers and three crew members crashed in Benue State, leaving only three survivors. January 28, 2005: A Nigeria Air Force fighter plane crashed into a farmland in Yar Kanya, Kano State. January 17, 1996: Ibrahim Abacha, son of Sani Abacha, was killed in a plane crash. September 26, 1992: Nigerian Air Force A C-130 plane crashed minutes after take-off from Lagos. All 200 on board killed. If we are a people with any sense at all, then we would start thinking of how to secure our airspace rather than postulating stupid theories.Yakowa, Azazi and Suntai are just the new victims, if we continue this way, there are likely to be more. |
May God spare our lives. We were just discussing the man's commendable effort as regards governance in Kaduna at about this time yesterday. It is very sad; I hope this would not result into violence in Kaduna; the People of Kaduna-South will be deeply saddened if this turns out to be true and indeed the good people of Kaduna. Unbelievable tragedy, wish this turns out to be false. |
maryjames9: The writeup is good but the intention is wrong. This writeup is supposed to be for all women; muslim, xtian. Again, another bigot, extremist posts. Hisses, spits and exit threadI feel so sad for you; because you are so badly twisted upstairs that you find it so difficult to see or even think straight. This is a post from the "Islam for Muslims" section. Look up, you would see: Nairaland Forum / Nairaland / General / Religion / Islam for Muslims / New Post (Things Your Muslim Wife Wont Tell You). And really, what you just displayed is a big sign of a Bigot & Extremist; because this post even read "Things your Muslim Wife Won't tell you"; indicating it had something to do with Muslims essentially. You could have easily kept away from the post, but I guess you jumped in thinking it was a post for Slandering Muslim women; sorry to disappoint you. |
dederocs: PLS POST IT ONLY ON MUSLIM SECTION.WE ARE NOT INTERESTED TO KNOW ABOUT MUSLIM CULTURES HERE.PLEASE DO NOT BRING SUCH TO THE MAIN THREAD AGAINAnother sign of how intolerant many Christians are. There are at least 2 threads on the main post talking about one RCCG programme/event or the other, I am sure the slowpoke above, sees nothing wrong with that. They are so full of themselves and yet they are the most idiotic and brain-washed people one may ever find. Reminds me of the usual thing they say when they fail their exams in school: "The devil is liar", "it is not my portion in ..."; or how they in turn choose to fall rolling on the ground when their pastor lays his hands on them, despite not feeling any force whatsoever. Many honest ones have confessed they fell for fear of being labeled... This is how lame some Christians can be. |
General Garicks: The glut in the market is seriously annoying. This is december and instead of cement price going up, it's rather coming down. People are not even cashing in on the lower prices to build their houses as they complain there is no money anywhere. The cheapest trip of stones is about N28,000. White sand is about N17,000 a trip. A tank of water is N4,000. A 2-bedroom bungalow with fencing can consume 3-trips of stones, 8-trips of sand, 6-tanks of water and about 4,500 blocks at a cost of N140 per block. Labour and supervision fees is something else. These things are costly to source. Cement dealers are really crying.I think what is happening is that there is low purchasing power in the economy (No money in the economy). I doubt it is because of cement importation, that had always existed; it is more of an issue of credit crunch. I remember a friend lamenting that there is no money in the economy, and I was wondering what He was talking about Perhaps this is another sign to support his claim. |
You know, I clicked on this link because I thought the topic was referring to Hyundai Accent. That is a sexy car. |
Guys, I just joined the Honda Accord 2003 club, just bought one and was wondering if you veterans could advice on what type of oil to use. |
legioni: @kuntash tanks 4 the complimentYeah, that is probably the case; I experienced the same problem with my former car. It is actually the wheel balancing that takes care of the problem not the alignment. Look for one of those computerised wheel balancing garage and your car will be cured. |
I am really happy with this development. Not that I don't want Osaze on the team, infact I believe a Player of his experience and calibre will be good for the team; but what really excites me is that Players have realised that they are not indispensable and that they have to fight for shirt and even beg (like we have seen Osaze and Martins do.). This is healthy for the team, I wish the same kind of treatment can meted on Mikel, He needs to realise, Nigeria can do without him. |
blink182: Religion of hypocrisyYeah, I knew daft comment like this would be posted. Even in the western world it would be considered a "public nuisance" for 2 adults to be getting intimate in a public taxi!!!; and the parties could be charged for violating one or more of these acts " The Sexual Offences Act", "outraging public decency", and the "Public Order Act". Or is it acceptable in Christianity ![]() |
eGuerrilla: @JaaizTech,I'd say my fears would be compounded. How could they be assuaged Have you ever been hit by an Okada-rider and then He turns around to blame you as soon as his fellow Okada riders arrive at the scene, threatening you with all sorts That's the kind of effect state police would have on non-indigenes, you would become the villain as soon as you can't converse in the native dialect, you would be treated as an outcast. I live in the north and often people laugh at me simply because I don't understand Hausa!!!. An Igbo man can even be worse, they would sell you on the spot. (Apologies to Igbos, just thinking aloud). |
HNosegbe:@HNosegbe; contrary to your assertion, many of the police men found in their area of duty, usually understand the language and the culture of the people in that area. Obasanjo is a practical example, He can speak Hausa and Igbo quite well; because as a Military man He was posted all across the country, and He also has quite a number of children whose mothers belong to other tribes.Obinoscopy:That may be true, but the question is: Over what period of time? I don't know about you, but I can't estimate how long it will take a Bassey Ekpeyong from Akwa Ibom state to adapt if he is posted to Hadejia in Jigawa state or Biu in Borno state. How long will it take him to understand the terrain, the culture, the way of life and the best areas and avenues to patrol in keeping the community safe and miscreants at bay? "Pretty long time" would be my best guess. |
Deep Sight: Hello Everyone, @Deep Sight, Our level of illiteracy is an aberration that needs to be addressed; we can not continue to accept to live with this level of illiteracy. If we go by your argument, then it appears you are suggesting that we accept the high level of an uneducated populace and use it as a basis for building a police force. I totally disagree with this rationale, the current police force has already taken a bold step to address the issue communal policing through their @Community-Policing@ Programming. What the Police needs is the political and financial support to function properly and not another creation of a state police force that has the potential of being used by local authorities as a private army witch-hunt their opponents. I fear very much that had State Police force being existent in Lagos, then Gov. Ahmed Tinubu would have used the opportunity to equip "Area-Boys" with weapons and tag state police-men, perhaps you and I won't dare come online to air our views by now. Deep Sight: 3. Building on (1) and (2) above, it is inconceivable that we can have the same standards or approaches in terms of crime: this is evidenced by chasms of differences such as the operation of Shariah Law in the North of Nigeria and the activity of what is already virtual State Police in the form of the Hisbah as well as the OPC vigilante groups well known in the West.@Deep Sight; it appears to me that you are beginning to contradict yourself, because of your recognition that it is a misnomer for us to have contradicting laws across states. However, you should understand that the constitution allows this to happen and that is because the constitution recognises our diverse ethno-cultural values and seeks to give room for localization of laws; but it would be very disastrous if the ultimate enforcer of laws are also localized. I don't know which you would feel more comfortable with? A police Station with Hisbah-men as the police men or a police station as it is now. |
Like everything in life there are Pros and Cons to “STATE-POLICING”, fortunately for us as a Nation, we have witnessed the practice of regional policing and now the National Police structure, with a command structure that is only answerable to the Inspector General of Police, whom is only answerable the President of this Nation As highlighted by “Deep Sight” and quoted: “ …that I am forced to wonder exactly how Nigeria has somehow managed to remain in existence for the period of time that it has. I say this because, all that leads to war is injustice; all that leads to disintegration is imbalance: and all that leads to decay is inertia. My friends, injustice, imbalance and inertia are all very present and alive in Nigeria today.” Perhaps, one of the reasons this country has remained in one piece is because the armed police has been directly controlled by the man at the centre and that there exists no other legally armed authority controlled by any state or region. What would have been the fate of this nation, if the Igbo man had his own police force loyal to the Ndigbo, the Kogi man also had her own police force loyal to the Igala/ Igbira, how would territorial disputes have been resolved Nigeria is a unique country, where very citizens first recognises his or her tribe before He sees his or her Nation. The fact that state police works in other climes does not imply it will work here. Proponents of state police should realise that the failure of the current police force is as a result of institutional failure which is a characteristics of every institution in Nigeria, whether at state level or National level and not peculiar the Police force alone. In fact one of the strongest institutions in this country remains the Nigerian Military Force, which is by all means a National body |
It is not surprising that arrays of suggestions that could bring to an end the current security mess that we are witnessing in Nigeria today are springing up, such is the attitude when a community or society is faced with a challenge she has never witnessed in her history before. The call for a state police to be institutionalized in Nigeria is coming from many quarters, some with good intents and many more with ulterior motives behind it. It is understandable that Nigerians lack believe in the current police force because they have failed us in many ways; but this is not a reason to throw away the current setup of the Nigerian police force. Nigeria is a Multi-Ethnic and Religious country, our cultures are diverse but our unity is also critical. Hence the need for a Police force that represents the unity of this country cannot be over-emphasized. Lets hit the issues headlong: My Name is Folarin, a Yoruba man from Ogun State, I live in Kaduna state in the Northern part of Nigeria, I neither speak Hausa nor Fulfude. What do you think will be my fate if I enter a dispute with a Hausa man, with the Hausa police force to be the judge Or you are an Adamu who is living in Anambra state and you enter a land dispute with a Chukwuma, and the case arrives at “Ndigbo Police Force”. What will be the fate of Adamu, whom cannot speak Igbo. Will He get a fair hearing.Supporters of State-Police have erroneously claimed that since the state police would be made up local people, whom know a lot about their environs and can easily fish out the bad eggs. That police force will be more effective. I beg to disagree, because the failure of the Police force as it is today is not as a result of @lack of adequate intelligence@, but as a result of corruption that has crept into every facet of our life. INEC is a great example; can we by any means compare the performance of the State INEC to that of the National INEC. …. To be continued… |
pls. give me the link to the debate thread |
put me on board Jarus. I am ready. I am already scribbling some points down |
@Jarus kindly include me in the team that will debate against "State-Police". I have a very strong objection and would love to open the eyes of many to the evils of state police |
I am strongly against "State-Police" as it portends no good at all for the nation |
It is shocking the type of comments coming out from Christians on this forum; no other religious group is suffering from outright bigotry as much as Nigerian Christians are. They are so fool of themselves, yet they are no more than empty brain-washed barrels, that are being tossed up and down by their con-men called Pastors. So Obasanjo contributing to build a mosque is such a big crime, yet Jonathan buying a private Jet for Oritsejafor is a great thing!!! Your hatred for Islam will take you no where, Islam remains the fastest growing religion in the world, and there are more Muslims in South-western Nigeria than there are Christians; no matter how much you try to annihilate Muslims at their place of work, school etc etc, we will still overcome all your antics. We (Muslims) will not be blackmailed by the sins/attrocities of Boko-Haram; we know you Christians are seeking to explore the opportunity of the misguided Muslims (Boko-Haram & other terrorist groups) to blacklist or slander Islam, but it will never work. Look on your streets, in your schools, in your places of work; you will notice the ever increasing presence of Muslims, whom are more aware of their religion. The true Islam will liberate you, open your eyes to the truth and through it you will receive the sweetness of faith. Lastly, I will use this opportunity to call on all Christians on this forum to take a peep into Islam, find out about Islam instead of wallowing in ignorance. Google is there to help you, there many sites that can guide you. If you remove yourself from the strangle hold of bigotry, it will become very clear to you that Christianity as it is today, is not the way of God nor Jesus himself. The Christmas that is widely celebrated is modeled after a pagan celebration, Jesus was neither born nor died on 25th of December; The Bible itself is a selective compilation of historic manuscripts, selected and translated to sooth the whims and caprices of the Priests of old (Their antecedents are best found in history). You may wonder why the Roman Catholic Bible has more books than the King's James version but the Quran remains undoubtedly the words of God sent down as a guidance to mankind. I am not saying you should jump into Islam, but I am saying seek knowledge about Islam, and then judge it by its true teachings. |
The Muslim is obliged to defend himself and his family from any aggressor. He should ward him off with the slightest means, but if the assailant cannot be warded off except by killing, then it is permissible for the one who is being attacked to kill him, and he is not subject to retaliation (qisaas) and he does not have to pay any blood money (diyah) or offer any expiation (kafaarah), because sharee’ah has given him permission to kill in this case, and the slain aggressor is threatened with Hell, whereas the victim of aggression, if he is killed, is a martyr (shaheed) in sha Allaah. It makes no difference whether the aggressor is a Muslim or a kaafir (non-muslim). It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: A man came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allaah, what do you think if a man comes wanting to take my property? He said: “Do not give him your property.” He said: What if he fights me? He said: “Fight him.” He said: What if he kills me? He said: “Then you will be a martyr.” He said: What if I kill him? He said: “He will be in Hell.” Narrated by Muslim (140). It was narrated that Sa’eed ibn Zayd (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The one who is killed defending his wealth is a martyr, the one who is killed defending his family is a martyr, the one who is killed defending his religion is a martyr, and the one who is killed defending his life is a martyr.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1421), al-Nasaa’i (4095), Abu Dawood (4772); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel (708). |

Lamasta: To me what GEJ represents is true Democracy where you are given freedom to say your mind, but the only injustice he will do to himself and to Nigeria is to ignore the Report of Ribadu led commitee and not sacking Orasanye and its gang in sabotaging there reports and talking undemocratically in the face of the PresidentMy friend do you live in space It is very obvious that the drama Oronsaye played was pre-orchestrated by Oronsaye and the President (or at least the President's aides). He was trying very hard to discredit the report so much He goofed by saying "... So what!" to Presidential orders. Unfortunately, for them Ribadu was swift in response; why would NNPC board member / official be a member of the Ribadu panel Your guess is as good as mine. Don't lose sleep over this report, it has been shelved already. |
atrix4g: Chai see ow d leaders of 2mao of dis country dey reason nd dey fite in top .... na wetin no dey make dis country wotwile b dat pple lik dis now will finish d slavery nd strt to narate stupid xperience well no b our faults oooI see no slavery here, Dangote advertised a vacancy and those willing applied. Yes, I agree Truck driving is perhaps not a graduate's job, but the reality on the ground is that there are millions of jobless graduates looking for a means of survival; Dangote also has a need, He is perhaps tired of hiring irresponsible, unproductive, uneducated old men as drivers, hence He sort to take advantage of the "Graduate-Jobless Market". I do not expect him to pay drivers far more than the industry standard, hence the story of 300k earnings is far fetched. Anyways, those new graduate-drivers can now at least earn some bucks; they can always leave when they find a better job. |
GenBuhari: Here is the reason the corrupt PDP and other enemies of progress wish to maliciously discredit Buhari:That is life for you o; the only man that has ever held the highest office in Nigeria in addition to a Gold mine (PTF) but remains untainted as regards corruption is the one Nigerians have made a villain. What has Buhari done He contested fiercely against GEJ!. The only crime I know of and that He is a Northerner (the main reason many hate him). Shocking how people make themselves believe figments of their imagination. BUHARI is the Boko-Haram sponsor ; yet they have not a single shred of evidence!!! and yet they believe it so much. Truly Shocking |
When a man does well and you pat him on the back, then He will do more <Quote from Rotimi Amaechi>. GEJ / Aviation Minister, you have done well in this regard, well done. Work is also ongoing in Kaduna. |
toba: To be honest with u, these shops/stalls arent for the poor, even though there would be mortgage facilities available. But if one would pay N6m in 25 years, it means u must be making at least N500,000 profit per annum cos u have to pay bank interest at about 18% per annum if not moreI think you guys are making a very wrong assumption. Those guys that owned shops (mark the word owned), in the former Tejuosho market are by no means poor, any former Tejuosho shop owner is a fairly big trader. Those whom this new shopping complex will mostly affect negatively is those traders that were hanging by pathways, on the staircase, corridors and the likes. However, it is unfortunate that at every strata of the Nigerian Government corruption has eaten deep, even when the Governor means well, by building shops at affordable prices, the rich in collusion with civil servants will find a way of quickly buying up the shops, and later selling them at exorbitant prices. To make things work in Nigeria, the Governor must pay keen attention to the processes himself otherwise the story will remain the same. |
INTERPRETATION: Nigeria is rich; but the people of Nigeria are innately greedy, selfish and corrupt. So the few that have direct access to the wealth of Nigeria, consume it so aggressively, that others see very little or nothing of the wealth. As a result, the richest people in Africa are found in Nigeria and so also are the poorest people in the world found in NIgeria. SOLUTION: Firstly, violence is no solution. We need to start from the small things (Councillors, LGA Chairmen), and forget the big things (presidency, Governorship) for some time. The people & NGOs need to raise more awareness about the importance of LGA, if we manage to encourage credible personalities and sensitize the people to participate more at LGA elections, we are bound to have better LGA chairmen and Councillors. It is from this crop that we would find our future Governors and Presidents |

Perhaps this is another sign to support his claim.
