Yes I agree with you. But in addition He should explain to us how He managed to spend 1.3 trillion naira on fuel subsidy while his predecessors spent far less. What changed so drasticallyhuh Why didn't he query such suspicious humongous difference. It appears to me subsidy was the siphon He used to fund his campaign.
PoliticsWho Will Deliver Us From This Goodluck By Fani Kayode by JaaizTech(op): 4:53pm On Jan 12, 2012
When President Olusegun Obasanjo was in power we spent 300 billion per year on the fuel subsidy. Under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan it shot up to 1.3 trillion naira in the last one year alone. Can someone please explain to me how it got so high in 4 years and what exactly they were subsidising with the extra one trillion naira? When the Obasanjo government left power in 2007 the country was no longer in debt and the 30 billion dollar foreign debt that Obasanjo met when he came to power in 1999 was fully paid off.

Today, under the administration of Jonathan, our country is back in debt to the tune of 41 billion dollars (both foreign and domestic) and we are still borrowing. Can someone please tell me what the loans were used for and whether we will ever be able to pay them off? When the Obasanjo administration left power in 2007 our foreign reserves were 80 billion dollars even though when he came into office in 1999 we only had 1.5 billion dollars.

Today our foreign reserves have dropped from 80 billion dollars in 2007 to 33 billion dollars. Can someone please tell me where all the money went? When the Obasanjo administration left power in 2007 23 billion dollars was left in the Excess Crude Account after he built it up from nothing in 1999. Today we do not have one dollar left in that account because the money has been squandered and the account scrapped. Can someone explain to me who spent that money and precisely what it was spent on? ,

DrugDoc:
@alj Harem

May your harem continue to increase in Allah's name, Amiiinnnnn!, your questions are:

Why was Obasanjo able to pay off our national debt worth billions of dollars while retaining fuel subsidy?
Why was Obasanjo able to build up our foreign reserves into billions of dollars while subsidy was still on?
Why did Obasanjo still launch some projects, like satellite, while subsidy was on?
Why was subsidy money in the billions while others were in government but went into trillions just few months into Jonathan`s government?
Why were the implicated subsidy beneficiaries(oil cabals) not punished by Jonathan?
Let me stop here. Answer these questions satisfactorily and I will join you in canvassing support fr subsidy removal.

1. Most bad habits don't kill or maim immediately.  They take time to build up damage and maim or kill.  The number of cars being imported into Nigeria has been increasing since 1999 and the FG has to pay to  fuel them. Of course they were bound to run into problems like we are having now. The number of federal government employees have more than tripled since 1999. These things build up and become a problem

2. With the advent of democracy more people have access to power and  information about this and other lucrative FG programs.  It's not a matter of a very few military officers and their civilian cronies taking advantage of these programs, now you have speakers, governors, ministers and advisers piling in.  That's why the cost of this program has been increasing and now threatened to take over the majority of the budget, each year more people are catching on and joining the subsidy party.  Remember politicians need friends and money to win elections!

3.  Your FG is illegitimate itself, it is hard to prosecute criminals in this contraption called Nigeria.  Prevention is better than cure.  Don't run programs that are so vulnerable to corruption unless absolutely neccessary and affordable. Who are you going to send? The army or police or senate or HOR that won't be compromised?  Lest make the best of this bad marriage and reduce govt. involvement in business.  That will at least ensure peace and survival.
youngmonie:

Please let's enlighten ourselves for a minute. For your information, the above listed companies are just 11% of the beneficiaries of the subsidy. 87% of the oil imported into Nigeria is by NNPC itself (why is NNPC name not on top of the list?) which means 87% of the subsidy paid went back to NNPC (Where NNPC = Gov't = Cabal). The remaining 2 percent are the other independent importers who brought in their product without lobbying for the PSF (Petroleum Support Fund, i.e Subsidy).

Now your question should be, how would the independent importers make profit when they do not benefit from the so called subsidy? The answer is, there is nothing like subsidy in the first place.

As at this morning the landing cost for

PMS (Petrol) = N47/litre

AGO (Diesel) = N82/litre

Jetty fee + Tank farm shouldn't charge more than N2 per litre, so add that up. Meaning the total expenditure to Tank Farm in Lagos is N49 per litre. So if we sell for N65/litre, there will be a N16 profit margin between the importer and the filling station owner. If you are into oil and gas, you will realize that, this is alotta money considering the quantity you are importing, so what the heck is the meaning of subsidy?

Any oil importer can call me out on this one if you think my analysis is wrong and we'll iron it out. Now after the N16 profit between the importer and the filling station, the federal govt now comes out to tell us they paid some "selected people" an extra N75/litre as subsidy, which bring the profit margin to N75+ N16. Does this make any sense?

Subsidy is just a way invented by the government to pay the cabal (Cabal AKA.The Kitchen Cabinet; meaning the Super-Advisers, a position which is called The Consiglierie in Mafia). This Cabal majorly comprises of powerful Ex office holders, like the ex presidents, ex senator presidents and the likes and they act as the super advisers to the present president while subtly fine-tuning him to make policies that will suite their own purpose. Not forgetting that they were the ones who endorsed him both at the primary level and at the general election and majority of his campaign funds came from them. ANd now that he is the president as they wanted, it's now a "Fukk you pay us" situation.

Now in my opinion, i believe the country is broke and in a big debt. Jonathan now realizes that he can no longer pay this Cabal AKA The GodFathers directly from the government purse and he's not trying to stand in their way from collecting their entitlement, hence he's putting the burden on the citizen. So now, look at it from the above analysis, if you buy PMS at N140, you are directly paying the subsidy by yourself to the Cabal and the fortunate ones in this situation is the independent importer. They dont need to even think of lobbying for PSF now, they only need to bring in their product as usual and sell at N140, which automatically gives them the same profit margin as the Cabal. This is why i was telling someone on the other thread that, he must be joking for claiming that Otedola, Adenuga and Dantatas of the world are the one sponsoring NLC and NTU, what would be their gain? Do you think they'll have the time now? I can tell you they're all busy tracking their next Vessels to Naija right now.

There is a lot to say but hey, i don't think i'd make a good lecturer. But let's all seek knowledge and know what exactly we are fighting for and against. It's not about the subsudy removal, it's about fighting the godfatherism trend that has been enslaving us for like god knows when. Let's stand up and fight it out NOW.

And to all the paid "internet stand-up guys" like beaf and co, you are free to post all your idi.otic comments all you like, it's what you've been paid for, so I wouldn't blame you. Just make sure at least one is sensible.

=======

Hey, for you all to confirm what i was talking about, i just found a 2006-2008 PSF PPPRA report. Please take a look at it and check how many percent of the subsidy goes to NNPC and confirm what i am talking about

Firstly, you should realise that things just don't happen for no cause; the issue of Pakistan-Taliban started when the govt. of Pakistan under the instruction of the US, levelled a Mosque and killed its leaders for supporting Taliban views, many were killed unjustly, and in the end the resistance/attack against their govt. started; and attack has been directed towards their govt. but of course civilians have also suffered; in Iraq, the issue is about Sunni muslims fighting Shia muslims, which the US carefully orchestrated by turning the shias against the Sunnis; they removed all top Sunni govt. officials and replaced them with Shia, naturally a discord broke out and the result is what you have today.

It is not true that Muslims love to kill christians, we all have Muslim friends and non of my Christian friends have shown fear of malicious intents from me, and I can say the same for many of other Muslims. It is unfortunate that the media has managed to create this sectional view, by under-reporting causes of violence in the north or misrepresenting the facts. When Christians in Jos massacred Muslims on the day of eid, it was grossly under-reported; the same with the massacres in Southern Kaduna, whose evidence are still there for all to see. But violence in Northern Kaduna was widely reported; it is this imbalance that has created this wrong impression, and the same can be said about the International terrorism too.
PoliticsRe: We Didn't Bomb Madalla Church - Boko Haram by JaaizTech: 11:27am On Jan 10, 2012
I have said it before that the acts of the xmas day bombing went contrary to the direction of Boko-Haram activities; it didn't serve their goal any good rather it served the goal of those who need to further blacklist the north, and pave the way for the dissolution of Nigeria; I have always said that the North understands and realises that without Nigeria she is nothing alone, and as a result the north will never tread the path of dissolution.
The grudge Boko-Haram has with govt. is with the killing of her leader (which I think was illegal but just) and the destruction of their mosque, hence they have mainly targeted the Police and Military in the states in which they were attacked, they could have directed those efforts essentially to churches but they chose the harder option: "Military & Police"; However, govt. must do everything it can to nip the issue of Boko-Haram in the bud and also recognise that there are other forces in the mix too; Boko-Haram members as I reliably gathered from an intelligence officer are former Mujahids that fought in Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia etc, after they returned home they formed an organisation to continue to preach their ideology and govt. was aware of this, in fact it is popularly acknowledged that Muhammad Yusuf was the most non-violent of the top hierachy of boko-Haram, and they have arabs, chadians, Nigeriens whom don't give a hoot about Nigeria in their mix.
I am now of the opinion that FG should negotiate with them, and keep a keen watch over their activities, plant spies in their mix; this is the only way forward I fear, these are a people whom have fought American soldiers to a stand still, that white-house is now silently in dialogue with Taliban

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Gives 3 Days Ultimatum To Southerners Living In The North by JaaizTech: 12:01pm On Jan 04, 2012
[b]Nigerians need to be careful as regards Boko-Haram, it is becoming more evident that those behind or purportedly behind Boko-Haram, are doing things that will catalyse the break down of Nigeria; they are moving away from the attack on military/police to attacking Christians in order to fuel the call for break-up, we also need to be careful in believing that all these is done by an "extremist-Islamic" group, because signs are beginning to emerge that some of these evil acts may have the hands of "southern/northern-Christians" in it; today an issue erupted in Sabo, Kaduna the abode of many northern Christians, a Christian man was paid by God knows whom to place a bomb in his church and He was caught; a similar issue happened in Bayelsa where a xtian dressed like a Muslim northerner to burn a church; all these point to one thing that there are a group of people with the motive to exploit the current circumstances to further tarnish the image of the north to an irreparable extent.
Furthermore the recent purported call by Boko-Haram that all southerners should leave the north does not have the signature of an extremist-Islamic group; they are not usually concerned about tribes but religion, secondly there are many northern-christians in the north, whom I am sure an extremist group wouldn't give regard to as much as they would to a southern Muslim. Secondly, if Boko-Haram is a group sponsored by big northern politicians as it is usually painted, then I am sure those politicians are very aware of the big disadvantage in the break up of Nigeria, the ultimate beneficiary of a divided Nigeria is the South; so why would they be towing that linehuh
Lastly, the sudden status of invisible, sophisticated militia that Boko-Haram has attained over night is very suspicious, I wonder how the FG can not find the hideout/camp of Boko-Haram after engaging them for 4 hours in yobe, I wonder if it isn't possible for an helicopter or surveillance jet to hover over the battle ground even if it is just for the purpose of tracking their movement; but no that won't happen perhaps some are benefiting from their existence.

But I noticed I don't like her walking around the house scantily dressed, I think I find her more pleasing and attractive when properly dressed. I am not sure if this has something to do with her naked-appearance or if she just looks better when dressed. In general, I think our wives are a big part of our lives, they make a big imprint on our image and ego, and I guess the husbands are afraid of anyone seeing some unattractive inner body parts (e.g sagging breast (u will get if you have given birth to babies), big tummy (u will get if you have given birth to babies), spotty chest/back etc). Usually all these things are covered under nice decent dresses.

So Libyans did not fight Gaddafi? Who did? Please keep away your story about meeting Saif and all that because there is no way i can verify that.
Some of these conspiracies are not so difficult to figure out, if only we open our eyes and clear our minds from bias. We see pictures of thousands protesting against Ghaddaffi on TV, and we assume that must be the whole country. Those who show us the pictures are those with their own hidden agenda, they show what supports their cause. How could Ghadaffi have lasted so long despite NATO's bombs if didn't have a sizable support of Libyanshuh The western media in order to cover up this angle claimed that Ghaddaffi hired black African immigrants / mercenaries to fight for him, and now Black Africans are the targets of the NTC. Listen to the tales of Nigerians that lived in Libya before the war, and it would be quite clear how Libya citizens enjoyed a good life, how working as a maid could be quite rewarding, and yet  the media keeps telling us how Ghaddaffi suppressed his people, and mismananaged their resources, how the people are suffering and have suddenly revolted. Towards the end of the war, we saw that Ghadaffi actually had the support of some clans / tribes, infact towards the end of the siege the war against ghaddaffi took a tribal nature; open your eyes, NATO is dropping bombs on Libyans and priding itself for having zero casuality. That really shows what they care abouthuh Those who loved Ghadaffi and supported him, are they lesser Libyanshuh

I have read across many posts, and see many people in their naivety inciting a lot of hatred. Let Nigeria split, let the cleansing begin etc. Let me warn you all, Nigeria will never split successfully until you witness the carnage that was witnessed in Rwanda, Somalia, Liberia etc. If you think Nigeria will split by some people just saying we want to be on our own, then you are dreaming. If what you wish for your generation, is immense blood-bath, hunger, destroyed homes, rape, indiscriminate killing of neighbours by neighbours then keep asking for the breakup and keep inciting hatred. I am sure most Hausa people are not benefiting from the Boko-Haram carnage, most ordinary Hausas are victims too, the Bombs don't ask if you are Hausa or fulani before it explodes. Amongst those hundreds of police men that have died are tens of Hausas and Muslims. We should all come together to support Government against Boko-Haram, that is all we can do. War is never a good thing. We can't give up now, we have to keep fighting for a better Nigeria, we can do it. Violence or Hatred will never take us there

Too bad that we couldn't win the match but this is not the time to sack any one. That has always been our approach in the past and it has led us nowhere.

Siasia is not a bad coach but he made a grave mistake in leaving the midfield bare with the remove of Joel Obi and this left chasing the ball too often.
People say Nigerians are intelligent; but reading online comments usually makes me feel Nigerians are naive. I believe Siasia took a big risk, and He should have normalised the midfield after we scored the 2nd goal, there was no point taking the risk anymore. We have paid dearly for it, but is not a reason to sack him, I actually enjoyed our football today; what we need to do is to build on it. There are times like these, when big teams fail to qualify; it happened to England. They have stuck to Capello, despite an unimpressive world cup, that is because sacking the coach isn't always the alternative option, but giving him time to correct his mistakes rather than employing another coach to come make his own mistake and start all over again. But I wonder how they will play the Ghana friendlyhuh!

The problem with the leaders is that they are just mere bloody politicians with poor visions and policies.

GOOD and fine, lagos has alarming population that the cityis almost gasping for breathe. In this situation there should be a commensurate budget for road rehabilitation in a way that there should be near almost monthly check and maintenance (for goodness sake, tax and other revenue can effectively anchor this with other conflicting needs).

The Isolo Ikotun ejigbo road has people coming from Igondo, Ijegun, Isheri, Ikotun, Ejigbo etc plying the narrow road and even at that it is presently in a very bad shape. It was better arround March but some group of people under the guise of marking the road just opened the little pot holes more for rain to fininsh the ravage. I was driving along this road and crying.

Theres a place between mushin and Iyana Isolo that has a big ditch that I nearly fell into to the surprise of the on lookers that thought I know the terrain. Are you new here? one one them had asked me. That place had been like that for the past one year.

Let us not deceive ourselves, this country has enough money that can transform infrastructure to what we have in Dubai only that the leaders are just bloody greedy politicians looking only at their selfish interests.

Have you ever asked yourselves why power project here has always failed.

The fact is that you dont do lagos road in January and stop in Marchafter getting people's ovation. The number of people that ply these roads alone are enough to scatter it in February to the extent that a visitor will never Know you ever touched it. LAMATA or whatever they call themselves should be nore proactive to have periodic checks on the roads.

This same thing goes to flood in lagos from one administration to another, the same story.

Who even says life cant be better in lagos; who says lagos cannot be decongested.

Why not build low cost housing at the suburbs and provide good transport and security.

What of the everyday traffice; If I rule lagos, I would encourage the use of by by private people especially at the hinterland and phase out commercial okada. I will import low speed or even normal bikes and impose effective speed limit.

Have they ever thought of the economic implication of the kind of heavy traffic jams that occur daily in lagos?

We lack visionary selfless leaders
It very worrisome, that everytime the rains come, all the roads go bad, I don't know if this is what is obtainable in other parts of the world with similar terrain as lagos. One thing that is of utmost concern is that most of the roads that are in this terrible state, have been repaired about 6 months back, but since the rains have come they have all gone bad. Is it about the quality or is it just a situation where they have to keep repairinfg roads every 6 months. Fashola needs to explain. But I have applaud fashola for the new summer class system that He has introduced in the secondary schools; students who hitherto would have repeated are being given a second chance.

Beaf!:
I repeat

It is either:

1. SSS killed this guy and send SMS to BBC just to create 'division' among this sect - a weak tactic on the part of GEJ and his advisers. Hasn't the real sect denied that already? I am waiting for OBJ to tell us he has also received a death threat since he was the real 'negotiator' of the peace talks. Or is he mightier than them?

2. We all know that this is more of a politics than the original boko haram. This guys have made it CLEAR during election campaigns that GEJ should respect zoning or be ready to face them pure and simple. From the look of things they have or are in the process of fulfilling that promise. GEJ is not man enough to face these people, we all have to accept that.

Lastly, until i see any of the schools or universities goes off in flames, will i believe that the 2009 boko haram is PART of of what is happening today
I think we should start to ask the question? Who profits from all these bombinghuh I am yet to see how the northern politicians benefit?
