We know our country is crime ridden, we never shy away from this. All the stats used to smear us are collected by us ourselves - no cooking of the books, no hiding of the facts. But u are quick to believe the figures when they are BAD and yet quickly resist when we link them to illegal immigration.

South Africa is AN EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL country and we have a lot going for us. It's for that reason we're not queueing up on the daily in long lines under the scorching sun outside foreign embassies seeking to escape the country. Or drowning in the Mediterranean sea or Indian Ocean in a desperate attempt to reach foreign lands.

So whatever Trump says about us is just water off a duck's back. Unlike with Nigeria that goes into panic mode everytime Trump says something bout u. U lack self-confidence whereas South Africans have it in bucket loads.

NB: I put this to u. The average south African can't afford to travel and even if they can.. They have a fear.... Xenophobia.... That they were foreigners are been treated here is the way they would be treated abroad.... Only the more educationally inclined ones decide to leave cos they know it's not as it in south Africa, the xenophobia abroad..
Atleast I have friends who have moved to China too, to teach English and earning more than the average teachers here that get 18000rand after all tax deductions....

Indeed, South Africa is a melting pot of accents and they all feature in the media. In fact, locals attempting western accents on tv are often mocked.Even the hip hop artists do not adopt American accents.

Some South African celebrities have phony American accent though,pronouncing water as "wadda"? artist as "ardist"?...and the funny thing is this is done by those who never been there.Yet Bonang Matheba who's always in the US still speaks with her normal accent.
