@ Akola, Lemme make some things clear to ya. 1) Your explanation on the marriage issue is not clear enough. How can hubby and wife disagree on a senseless issue like living abroad? Help me understand your point. 2) I don't pay rents simply because my house is on mortgage. A certain amount of money is debited from my account every month to pay ma mortgage. 3) I don't pay council tax because i bought my house as a student. I have never paid TV license. I don't open my doors for them. Its absolutely crazy. Students don't pay council tax. I still enjoy this facility even now that i am out of school. ****** I don't know any individual that pays TV license in the London Area. The laws are not enforced here. TV licenses are more popular in 'em remote areas up North. Areas like Yorkshire,Leeds,Blackburn where u have more old people and retired service men. 4) Gas/Electricity bill comes once in a year. I use British Gas. 5) U can't be sure Dele Momodu ran away from UK because of overheads. Did he tell u this personally or did he appear to u in one of your nightmares again? 6) Even if only £20,000 gets into Okocha's pockets, are u telling me he can get paid as much as this amount in Nigeria? Whatz the average salary of a Nigerian player? Lets be frank---------------- UK rocks and it rocks goood. There's so much money in this system if u keep ur ears to the streets. 7) In conclusion, there's no way u can ever compare this country to Nigeria. There's a sense of security here which u can never get in Nigeria. I don't go home at nights thinking about armed robbers or NEPA. Imagine a British slave-ship docking at Apapa wharf to capture slaves in this modern era. ![]() U will be surprised by the number of Nigerian youths that will voluntarily jump into these ships to get into the UK by hook or crook. There's a grave hardship in Nigeria. People cannot afford 3 square meals in a day so don't let us go there. Life Abroad is miles better than life in Africa. I will never discourage anyone to come to the UK. I will only tell them to come prepared and not think money grow on trees. |
Okay o. I rest ma case but i still believe there's so much money one can make in the UK. Akolais just a born-pessimist. I am going to alert Scotland Yard of his arrival at Heathrow cos he hates the UK with a passion. |
Portugal to beat France. Anutha feisty match with ma own Cristiano Ronaldo making a meal of Grandpa Lillian Thuram. Deco is back and so is Constinha. Its gon' be tough but Deco will blow Zizou away in the midfield. |
mukina2, where's ma money? U lost your bet on England with me so hand ma cheddarz over now. |
Kitaun If i am a cunt then i think you're a diseased/wrinkled pussy ![]() Let Mukina2 defend herself or are u her loudspeakers? ![]() |
@ Naijababe, I don't expect all the Protection Masters to be satisfied with their jobs. We must understand human beings are insatiable. Football players earn as much as £120k a week and they still want more so satisfaction ain't the crux of this matter. naijababe:This is why i disagree with Nigerians in diaspora. One should be very proud to say what he/she does anywhere as long as u don't steal to earn money. Its not as if these white folks don't do menial jobs too so whatz the stigma about? The reason why we differ so much on this topic is the cultural aspect/moral values of we Nigerians in Diaspora. Lets leave the Nigerian mentality out of this and think like Europeans. White women work in the pubs + Pole-Dancing and strip teases to pay their bills and they feel proud to say it anywhere. Until we Nigerians think this way all jobs will remain dirty and smudgy. |
@ Akola, Why r u making this difficult for urself? I dunno why u need answers to this questions. Do i look like Queen Elizabeth? The people that left comfortbale jobs in Nigeria to London should have made contigency plans before taking such huge risks. London is not for everyone just like the US is not for someone like me. I love England and i like the way things work here. Marriages crumble beause of the British Dream? AKOLA? Tell me anywhere in the world where marriages cannot crumble? Marriage is a different issue, please don't mix the 2 turfs together. Back to ur journalistic questions., 1) I dunno how much rent in the North West area cos i don't pay rents. *** All i know is things are expensive here compared to some other parts of London and u don't have to stay around NW. 2) I don't pay council tax as well cos my student status does not permit to pay it until september though. I doubt it if its more than £100 which is not too bad. 3)I don't pay congestion charges cosi don't take my car to any congestion area. Everyone uses the London Underground even company executives. This is very avoidable so rule it out. 4) Gas and Electricity bill comes once a year and its not too much to bear. £200-£400 a year is not a bad bargain . 5)I don't have kids yet so i don't need a child minder. 6)Skyplus Digital is about £50 a month. I'm prepared to pay £1000 a month for Premiership games so this one is more of a necessity to me than luxurious. I am a die-hard soccer fan. I can starve for football games on TV. 7) MOT/Insurance is kinda peanuts. I cannot drive without an insurance so what are we talking about. If u cannot afford to maintain a car then sell it. Its a matter of choice here. Everybody does not drive in London even if they can afford it. Dele Momodu relocated back to Ghana for his own good reasons. Don't forget he made his fortune in a country u have condemned so much. U have contradicted urself by bringing this name up on this thread. I dunno how Okocha's wages work out. Without a doubt, the amount that goes into his pocket every week cannot be less than £32,000. U better wake up from this nightmare u call a dream. Any Nairalander talking to u in a dream might be a psychopathic demon in disguise. U'd better run to ur pastor for spiritual deliverance. ![]() I have a very busy schedule. A systems engineer on contract works for hours to maximise the period of his contracts. My job sometimes takes me to the remote areas of UK like Shropshire and Isle of Wight. I leave my social outings for weekends ONLY. Lemme have ur itinerary for the week to see if i can squeeze some time to meet the greatest pessimist i have ever met. |
@ Mukina2, U are a prick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We shall see when Utd bludgeons Arsenal again next season. |
@ Kitaun, Why don't u just shut your lousy trap? U are consistently constituting a nuisance on threads with your dumb comments and shitty ideas. The problem with u is the age factor u are always snappy to bring up on public forums. Who gives a Bleep if you're 1000 years of age? U want to preach RESPECT? Please go to the Church/Monastery. Whoever gets irritated by my post should take a deadly hike. I don't give a rat about that so y'all gays can kiss ma ass. Bite me. ![]() |
@ Superman. The only dude foolish on this thread happens to be U. Ur comments can never be coherent to save ur own life. U just blab balderdash in the name of talking sports. @ Kitaun(Methuselah) Ya talk is cheap and u make me nauseous. U started watching the world cup in 1982? I am afraid but i must say u r a small fry to me cos i have watched all the world cup matches since 1930 when Uruguay won it. Its kinda unbelievable to think u have only watched just 7 mundials in ur 1000 years of existence on planet earth. I can send u tapes of Argentina 78, Mexico 70, England 66 and Sweden 58 to enlighten ur beclouded mind on football. ![]() |
@ Old Glory, There u go again. Nigerians based in America always tease me with the word "timid". A friend of mine once asked me why we r so afraid of cops who don't carry guns? He thinks people in the UK are timid as well. Akola is just a pessimist. Can u see the way they have twisted the whole arguments into something else? I am glad i was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that u can actually break the shackles of poverty by taking courses to get good paying jobs. None of 'em could argue that Protection Masters don't make as much as £180 a day. Is it not better to spend £2000 on courses like this and get a guaranteed job than spending £8,000-£11,000 on a Masters degree that doesn't guarantee u a job? I know £2000 is a big ASK for some people but its not the most difficult thing in the world to get. Who cares whether Protection Masters are London Underground staffs or not? Its all about the benjamins and for £180 a day u are earning around £46000($90000) per annum. What more does Akola want? Pay without work? @ Akola I started work in the UK around 2001. The reason why UK Nairalanders left this thread was because they r now making calls and taking courses on IT and maybe London Underground exams. A lotta people would have benefited a lot on this thread with the amount of info we have been able to give. The most important point is that with as little as £1000-£2000, u can get jobs that pay at least £500-£900 a week which is a very good pay packet anywhere in the world. I stay around North West area of London. |
Wrong century? I reserve my comments. |
@ Kitaun and Superman, It seems u have issues with people's age. Age ain't a factor of people's intelligence and astuteness. I have seen enough 40 yr old men behaving like teenagers and vice versa. Under18 is only expressing her own views and she's entitled to her opinions. |
@ Akola, I don't know the questions u are talking about. What else do u want me to tell u? U have my age and the 1st letters of my NI number so what else do u want to know? I was in UCLA, California for a Wi-fi course and a laboratory IT course on CWNP(Cisco Wireless Network Professional) These courses are selling like hot-cakes right now in the UK and its working for me really well. California is much harder for a student than UK. Things were too hard and human rights laws are less regarded in US. ![]() I was bleeping amazed the way cops carry guns on em to terrorise citizens as if i was in Basra/Afghanistan. We don't get to see such over here. I had nightmares of cops shooting at me for month while i was in the States. ( just joking)I think i prefer the UK to the US because UK is very compact. Transportation in the UK is top-notch compared to anything i saw in the US. The English folks are more accomodating and life here is not as complicated as the US. USA is too big for comfort. I think u should try life in the UK soon. Its exciting. |
@ debosky. I like ur sense of humour. Henry is simply the best because he scored the only goal between Brazil and France. If Henry is the best then i think Zidane is a god. Zizou was the most outstanding player on the pitch last night. |
The Referee is an Argentine. They have never really forgotten n forgiven what England did during the Falklands war in 1982. Ronaldo set Rooney up and the donkey ref fell for the booby-trap. The most annoying thing is Gerrard and Lampard(Both taunted as Premiership's finest) cannot pick a spot in the net and blast the ball on it. Its a shame. The 2 players have lost my respect and i think England is not composed enough to win the world cup. |
@ Akola, Dont muddle up the argument. My statistics say: Only 10% of the Nigerians staying in the UK are working. AND only 25% of the Nigerians staying in the UK can show a genuine proof of income. The 15% difference are the ones that are smart enough to claim they are self-employed. I mean these peopz claim they do sell stuffs on Ebay,braid/plait hair at home,baby-sit and other dank jobs to make their living every day. There's no paper-work to prove or disprove 'em. U cannot really place a finger on what they do but they do not have a regular job. They bend the law without actually breaking it cos they don't pay tax. I believe u don't have an idea of the population of Nigerians in the UK. When u come to terms with the figure then u will know all the stuffs u have listed are like tiny drops of water compared to an ocean of jobless youths. Are u kidding me? When are u coming to the UK? I want u to visit the Barking & Dagenham Areas, South-East and North Woolwich and come back to tell me ur experience. Boys just loiter on the streetz or sleep at home all day scheming ways to get paid. The Population of Nigerian inmates @ Belmarsh Prisons might give u an idea of what i am talking about. Ya friend that has ACCA certified in UK might have some other problems u don't know. Can she communicate very well? Has she got self-confidence? What about her references and her age? Has she got any gap of inactive years on her CV? What about her CRB? What are the questions u think i am avoiding? I'm sure i have answered all ur questions. ![]() |
The prediction is not careless, dawg! Argentina has enough quality to have silenced Germany dead n buried but Pekerman goofed it. Do u know Argentines are now calling for his head and criticising him on why he removed Riquelme just 18 mins before the end of the match? Pekerman has resigned cos he knows he sold out Argentina to the Germans. Substituting Riquelme is like removing Maradona in a match in Mexico 86 or removing Sunday Oliseh in Tunisia 94. Riquelme is the engine room of the Argentines. The goal Argentina scored was as a result of Riquelme's corner-kick and his slide-rule passes have been brilliant since the start of the tournament. Why did he axe Leo Messi? Messi has been rated the best young player in the world and Pekerman just axed him without any serious reason. His decisons are questionable. I agree with Hucarson. Pekerman sold out. He is a J-U-D-A-S. |
@ Akolawole, I am fast losing the appetitie to comment further on this topic as you're diverting the line of the argument. Lemme clarify some points once and for all. Protection Masters are employees of the London Underground indirectly. The London Underground is an arm of TfL(Transport for London) which gives maintenance contracts to railway companies like suretrack, metronet and metroline etc. It is these railway companies that employ protection masters, track engineers, train cleaners so its a sort of link. U cannot work for these railway companies without passing a medical examination conducted by the office of the London Underground even if u pass the written examinations. The London Underground do an eye test and ear test for all prospective employees before u can qualify to work on the tracks. For your information, since the 7/7 bombings they now run a comprehensive security check before employing in case 'em terrorist cells wanna sneak in. The Protection Masters all carry the London Underground ID on em anytime they have to work on the Underground so they work indirectly for the LUL. Got it? ![]() I am surprised U are arguing a bit off-topic. All i am saying is if anyone can take the courses and pass the exams you're guaranteed at least a pay package of £120 a day. These courses do not require a degree or even GCE. Just walk in and take the exams and if u pass u'll get employed. A lot of Nigerians are already enjoying this opportunity so i just don't like when people complain out of ignorance that UK is so haaaaaaaaard!!!!!!!! Best believe it, life is what u make it. Why would anyone complain that UK is so difficult to survive with an opportunity like this? The author of this thread can also enjoy this privilege and join the railway family. I doubt if she will remember Nigeria when her salary starts netting £600 per week without too much stress. Blue-collar jobs pay more so tell your Oracle certified pals still roaming the streets to do the math. The statement "Nigerians are lazy" does not necessarily mean all Nigerians are lazy. If 6 out of 10 Nigerians u meet on the streets are lazy then u can statistically conclude that Nigerians are lazy. I put the other 4 hard-working Nigerians(Akola, Old Glory, Praetor and Hucarson) as the people that have criticised this statement on this thread. Furthermore, Nigerians in the UK are quite different from the Nigerians based in the US. All the Nigerians that are qualified to work in the States do have one or two jobs and they all work unlike in the UK. UK is a place where different scams go down everyday and Nigerians take advantage of this loopholes to make money so majority of 'em don't work. Ever heard of a place called Thamesmead in South-East London? Its like FESTAC kind of setting and its inhabitated mostly by Nigerian youths. None of these peopz(especially the guys)work 365 days of the year because they all live on one scam or the other to survive year-in year out. Each of these dudes own posh cars, smart flats and accrue at least £30,000-£50,000 per annum on fraudulent scams. 75% of the Nigerians living in the UK cannot provide a genuine proof of income. Is that what u call hard work? I am having a laugh. ![]() If you're looking for the most hard-working people in the world please look towards the eastern European bloc(Polish,Czechs,Serbs,Romanians) |
@ Akola, That is the main gist. Kodak pulled out of Canada 87 edition of the FIFA U-17 world cup because KODAK lost funds cos Nigeria won the 1985 Edition. Can u remembered the politics played on Nigeria against USSR at Canada 87? Football is about marketing and the Nigerian team is not a very good item to market back in em days. |
@Akola, ![]() Are u an immigration officer? Why do u need ma NI number? Anyways, the 1st 2 letters of ma NI start with JT. Satisfied? Luckily my immigration status has changed from a green passport to red passport. Don't ask me how i did it. Did u say ur NI number starts with PX? I will put ur NI application in the UK sometime around 1999-2001(early). Am i correct? Cheers. ![]() @ Old Glory, I have identified the factor of lack of proper documents to work earlier in ma posts. There are still some Nigerians that have got proper documents but won't work for their sins. I was just advocating for 'em to migrate to the railway companies cos u can actually get paid for doing nuthing at London Underground. Nigerians here complain that they work 3 odd jobs and they cannot make ends meet. Why not go to where u can actually get paid handsomely without breaking a sweat? U feel me? |
Henry is just an asshole. I could not believe my eyes. Henry wanted to get a fellow professional booked but the referee did not fall for his antics. Its a shame on him. Little wonder he can never be named as World Footballer of the Year. |
@ Akola, Ya line of arguments is kind of bizzare. Lemme head-lock your points one by one. * Oracle certified people roaming the streets are the lazy types i've been talking about. New computer/software applications come out everyday and so u need to UPGRADE yourself to the demands of the market. I cannot relax because of an Oracle certificate i had 6 years ago. The computer world is dynamic so u have to be fresh. Tell your oracle friends roaming the streets to forge ahead and take new courses because what they have now hold is both obsolete and archaic. ** I have been living in the UK since IBB refused to give power to MKO. ![]() ***Akola, i guess u just came to London because u get NIs through DWP and not DSS.(DSS is now obsolete) ![]() A lot of people even use temporaray NI numbers to work which is made up of your DOB(Date of Birth) and some funny letters. Meanwhile, the card is even useless and its the NI number that counts. The number comes through the post before the card eventually arrives and u can start working as soon as u have that number which cannot be more than 10 working days depending on the area where u applied. It normally takes longer time in the London area. ***** It seems u have not been reading my posts on this thread. I have already stated its not your degree that matters in the UK. It is what u can do. I am yet to see anyone that holds a current professional certification in IT that roams the streets for jobs. Some people hold MCSE and CCNA certificates they have had 10 years ago and they expect to get good jobs with it. How's that done? Its competitive out there so one needs to UPGRADE himself to stand tall among others. I know a 60 yr old Chartered accountant that still writes exams in the UK to UPGRADE himself every 3 years. Its the way the system works here unlike Nigeria where people romance certificates they have had in 5 decades!!!!!!!!!!! Protection Master is a skilled job at London Underground. I don't know where u got your theory from. Nightwatch is quite different from the job of a protection master. Get your facts right. A protection master is required on site every time work is carried out on the tracks. They get paid an absolute fortune (they all drive Mercedes/BMWs) and their strenuous labour for the night goes as follows: 1. The track current is automatically turned off at about 1am. 2. The Protection Master places "Current Rail Indicator Device" (CRID) across the tracks. 3. The CRID confirms that the current has been turned off and it is safe to work on the tracks. 4. Protection Master gives the working team the nod to carry out their graft on the tracks, whilst the rest of the PM's shift comprises sitting around, reading The Sun and snoring. Guess what? U need about £600-£1000 to take courses and exams to be a Protection Master and they take exams every 2-3 years to UPGRADE 'emselves. A Protection Master earns between £120-£180 a day depending if u work during engineering hours(at nights) or during the day. Tell your friends to do a re-think and stop roaming the streets with obsolete M.Sc and obsolete certificates they have had for decades. ![]() Blue-collar jobs pay more dough than White-collar jobs. They should leave their Nigerian mentality in Nigeria and adapt quickly to the system in Europe. Most of these GCE Holders working as cashiers for HSBC and Abbey National banks earn about £12,000-£14,000 per annum(approx. £250 a week) I still believe UK is a land of opportunity compared to Nigeria. People get paid doing nuthing in the UK. The railway company in the UK is the perfect job for anyone to idle away his time. C'mon everybody. Join the railway family and get paid to idle! ![]() |
This Kitaun guy is fast losing it. What the Bleep is wrong with u? This match was played yesterday not today so whatz the frenzy all about? God-dangit,u need to be spanked for ur annooying posts. self-servicer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
@ Kitaun, Whatz the excitement about? France did not play well in that game. They were just lucky in front of goal. I can assure ya they have reached the end of the road now cos Brazil will demolish the french this time around. Ronaldo looks fit now and i hope the ghosts of France 98 will not haunt him again. |
@ Praetor, Now you're talking. ![]() People make loadz of money with brilliant ideas everyday. A computer whiz-kid from Sweden made over 10 million pounds selling the crazy frog ringtones on the internet which later found its way to TVs. Crazy Frog ringtone totally dominated all the TV channels and it was fucking annoying. I am not sure he has a degree in anything. He was just absolutely brilliant. A few days ago i was reading about a dude who sells socks and gloves in 3 pairs at the price of 2. The idea is u keep a spare glove/sock in case u lose one out of the two u wear everyday He has sold more than 10 million items because of this freaky idea. In a nutshell, one has to really diferentiate himself talent-wise from others to make it in life. Nigerians in diaspora should think deep and create/invent brilliant ideas and sell it to the world. Sky is the limit. |
@ amodu, The reason is simple. African teams are not marketable. Ronaldo wore a customised silver boots designed by Nike at France 98. Why can't Africans get this kind of treatment? A 20-yr old Rooney wears customised boots at the world cup and this is where the market strategy lies. How many times have u seen the NIGERIAN team on Nike or Adidas' commercials on TV? NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remembered the 1st time Nigeria won the U-17 world cup in China. Kodak(the major sponspor of that mundial) lost a considerable amount of money because Nigeria just went to sleep and did not market its team to the whole wide world and Kodak had to pull out as the major sponsors in the following edition in Canada 87. Africa has to show more enthusiasm in the market to get acknowledged. Nigeria approached NIKE some years back to get the kind of support Brazil got between 1996-1998 when NIKE sponsored over 64 friendly matches for Brazil. NIKE gladly declined the offer and the reason was Nigeria sells the highest number of fake NIKE products in the whole wide world. Can u beat that? How can the same NIKE we have dragged in the mud give us any financial support? Africa has to get some things right to win the world cup and we ain't there yet. @ Nnekie, Maradona's dives were just ploys to get Nigeria thrashed and he achieved that. I can authoritatively tell u Maradona started the diving phenomenon that has now plagued world football. He dives and as soon as the referee blows he gets up as strong as ever. He was a very clever football player. I don't think any Nigerian player in the history of football has the stamina and fitness of Diego Maradona(challenge me if i am wrong) He is the strongest football player i have ever seen. I have never seen Maradona stretchered out of the pitch before in a football match. |
@ Funloving, The problem with people like u is u tend to forget about books after a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree but life is more than that. Education should be a continuous thing and thatz the thin line between success and failure. Are u aware these white folks are more concerned about what u can do than those bleeping degrees we Nigerians carry around? All i am saying here is these degrees are not enough to put someone out of the poverty bracket. London is the 2nd most expensive city in the world so it aint child's play but its achievable. One needs to get certified to forge ahead of others cos the competiton out there is fierce. I know loadz of ACCA certified Nigerians who are making cool dough in UK. These are people that have foresight and they know those degrees can't put them ahead of others and they all decided to add some extra skills to their CVs. Concerning the contract jobs, as long as u update urself to the demands of the market u can never be out of job. Its quite challenging but its something i believe most Nigerians can do cos Nigerians are very intelligent but the major problem is laziness. @ honeycomb, I think its better u advise ur male friend to cancel his trip back to Nigeria. Let him save up some money he earns from Royal mail to get certified. Royal mail's wages cannot get anyone by as the highest salary cannot be more than £10/hr which is kinda low. Certifications are not necessarily IT/Computer stuffs. London Underground employs tons of Nigerians who are ready to take their courses and they pay handsomely. A protection master earns £120-£180 a day with London Underground and their exams aint the most difficult thing to pass. Most of the exams i have taken here are nothing compared to JAMB in Nigeria so i believe 8 outta 10 Nigerians will get along easily. End of discussion. |
Very Funny. ![]() I work as a Systems Engineer for one of 'em telecoms company in London. Though, i have been studying in the US for the last 9 -11 months in Cali fornia but i am fully back in the UK now. P.S. I am a guy. ![]() |
Stop deceiving urself. The job is very difficult especially with the English Press and FA. Any manager will be pressured in England irrespective of who u are. Can u tell me the reasons why Scolari declined to take the job of the England manager? Any Manager willing to take that job should be prepared and be ready to take pressure from the Press,The FA and the Fans. These factors collectively can make or break personalities in England. Mourinho nearly ran away from Stamford Bridge at a point last season because of this same pressure. The press will always wanna know why u didnt play this dude or that guy. Just watch what will happen when England crashes out of the world cup-the WAGs will face a firing squad from the press. ![]() |
@ Christino. I quite disagree with ur analysis about this line. Argentina still remains the threat of this world cup. I am already predicting Argentina-Brazil final or Argentina-Italy final. Brazil will definitely beat France cos the French have not really impressed me with their array of stars. |
I like that. Doing 3 odd jobs doesn't make one hard-working especially when u are educated enough to break the barriers of a high paying job. Why should i under-estimate myself to 3 menial jobs when i can just take professional exams and do one job(normal 9am-5pm)? For instance, why should someone that has a degree from a Nigerian University stock shelves in Tesco or Asda when he/she can just take certification courses and break into the job market with the prospects of getting a good paying job? Nigerians have the abiltity and the talent but they prefer to work at odd places. Maybe its a complex when they see their white counteparts. The problem with Nigerians is they don't want to pay + read for courses/exams and they will rather work at Tesco which does not require 'em to read and pay for exams before getting good jobs. Tesco/Asda/Cleaning Jobs are not professional jobs. They are unskilled labour so they don't get up-graded but stagnant at one point for several years. It is people like this that complain that UK is very difficult to survive in but they are not doing enough to upgrade 'emselves. I will rather pay the price of doing a good paying job(£1200 per week) than working in 10 odd places that pay £250 a week. I know the US is a much larger market but don't u think the immigration rules in the US is more strict than the rules in the UK. Do u know the number of years it takes a student to get a social security number in the US? Students get their NI numbers after about 3-4 weeks in the UK so Nigerians avoid the US like a plague. |
